I was up when the news broke that U.S. forces had possibly had a military strike on Caracas. Immediately, I knew where to look next, not for confirmation from the Pentagon, but for signals.

After seizing control of Venezuela in a dramatic military raid and capturing President Nicolas Maduro, the Trump administration has warned other Latin American leaders they could be next.
Vice President Delcy Rodriguez has made it clear she won’t negotiate with the United States, contradicting claims by Donald Trump, an analyst says.
Rodriguez appeared “with complete serenity” at a press conference shortly after Trump spoke, insisting Venezuela “is not the colony of any country”, Chris Gilbert, a professor at the Bolivarian University of Venezuela, told Al Jazeera.
According to Gilbert, she framed the government’s authority as rooted in its connection with the people and its democratic legitimacy.
Rodriguez outlined a defence strategy based on an alliance between the military, the people, and the police pointing to the mobilisation of militias in neighbourhoods across the country.
“There are more than four million militia members,” Gilbert said, describing this as evidence the government’s popular support.
Gilbert said Venezuelans have historically rejected foreign intervention and would continue to do so, regardless of threats from Washington.

Within hours of news breaking about Maduro’s capture, protests broke out in NYC with professionally printed signs and flags in support of Venezuela and other third-world countries like Cuba and Palestine.

Iran’s government officials ordered a shutdown this week amid rioting and protests over the country’s dire economic and political situation.
“Video footage circulating online and shared by the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (MEK) shows intense clashes between protesters and security forces in cities, including Shiraz, Isfahan, Kermanshah and Tehran,” the outlet said.
People were reportedly seen and heard chanting “Death to Khamenei!” referring to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran.
The protests spread Tuesday when Iran’s national currency, the rial, fell to a record low against the U.S. dollar and inflation skyrocketed, Breitbart News reported.
