Belgian politician Anne-Marie Lizin of the Walloon Socialist Party wants to stop state subsidy of ‘virginity operations’.  The enthusiastic senator presented a law proposal saying that hymen reconstruction operations will no longer be reimbursed by the RIVIZ national health insurance.  
Muslim men in particular want their future wives to be virgin during the wedding night.  In some cultures the bloodied sheet is displayed after the first night and girls who had sex previously cannot do so.

It’s hard to know how best to approach hate-mongers seeking to grace our shores. Should they lobby for Irving’s visa to be denied? Or should they allow him in and hope good sense will prevail and people listen to him and realise just how loopy he really is?

AN Egyptian al-Qaeda suspect and his family have won permission to live in Britain — and claim hundreds in benefits a month.

Ministers gave Hany Youssef “discretionary leave to remain”, even though the Home Office admits he is on a UN list of people “belonging to or linked” to the terror group. The decision means he can stay in Britain with his wife and five kids up to 2011. They have already been living in a house in Hammersmith, West London, at taxpayers’ expense.

A Turkish court, in a retrial, has upheld a life imprisonment sentence of a man charged with attempts to oust Turkey’s secular regime. The Istanbul court said Metin Kaplan, also known as ‘Caliph of Cologne’, will remain in prison to serve his life sentence in a ruling at the end of the retrial on Wednesday. 

Kaplan, also accused of plotting to attack Ataturk’s tomb, had been sentenced to life in prison in 2005 but an appeals court had overturned the decision, citing insufficient investigation and procedural errors.
