Police have obtained recordings of violent sermons delivered during Friday prayers at Masjid Shuhadaa in Majengo. The sermons are in protest over the death of Sheikh Abubakar Shariff alias Makaburi.

Makaburi was shot dead in Mombasa town last Tuesday evening. Mombasa county police boss Robert Kitur said detectives are analysing the contents of messages given to Muslim worshippers.

He said the messages urged worshippers to “cleanse Mombasa of infidels”. Speaking to the Star yesterday, Kitur said they are profiling the speaker and Imam from the mosque.

Islam for Dummies: A Journalist ‘Guide’ Whitewashes Islam

“[U]ninformed, inaccurate or consciously provocative journalism” concerning Islam worries Lawrence Pintak, founding dean of Washington State University’s Edward R. Murrow College of Communication.

Unfortunately, Pintak’s remedy to this problem, the online guide “Islam for Journalists” edited by Pintak, betrays an absurdly benign understanding of an Islam whose apparent only fault is being slandered by others.

“Across the Muslim world today,” Pintak’s introduction notes, “extremists are wielding their swords with grisly effect, but the pen…can be just as lethal.”

The 2012 “lewd cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad” in the French satire magazine Charlie Hebdo, for example, receive Pintak’s censure while, like many journalists today, he uncritically applies the honorific “Prophet” to Islam’s founder. Charlie Hebdo’s editor had condemned the weapons used in violent reactions to the anti-Muhammad “Innocence of Muslims” internet movie trailer preceding his cartoons. Yet the “weapon he controlled can do far more damage,” Pintak warned in equating speech with the violent reactions of others, then “evident in the conflagration…erupting across the Muslim world.”

“A commitment to press freedom is in my blood,” Pintak qualified against suspicions of censorship. Yet speaking of the 2005 Danish Muhammad cartoons and their violent response, Pintak showed sympathy for those who refused their publication.

Bendigo Bank has hypocritically used new-age buzzwords to mask its totalitarian and anti-Australian intent: tolerance and inclusiveness. So it put out this statement yesterday.

What a disgraceful and dangerous decision:

A bank is standing by its decision to close the account of a protest group which is fighting plans to build a mosque in the Victorian city of Bendigo.

The Bendigo Bank last week informed the Stop the Mosque group that it was closing the group’s account, saying the bank only wants to do business with organisations that share its values.

The group was raising funds for its fight against a mosque which is proposed for a site near Bendigo’s airport.

The bank’s decision has drawn criticism on social media, while local councillor Elise Chapman has accused the bank of trying to be the ‘moral police’.

“There’s a lot of other people – there’s murderers, paedophiles, criminals – everybody banks, and I’m sure that those people also have bank accounts at the bank,” Ms Chapman said.

Indeed, the Bendigo Bank should tell us who else will have their accounts closed – porn merchants, drug dealers, wife beaters, Islamist extremists, tax cheats, Greenpeace activists, vandals, hoon drivers, habitual drunks, thieves and people who spit on the pavement. Where does this stop? Where was the reputational damage for the bank in even maintaining the account? Who in the community protested, or was this just the work of some sanctimonious Bendigo Bank official who thought he or she could misuse their power to punish opinions with which they disagreed?

Ban Bendigo Bank until it allows its customers to freely engage in public debate.

Royal Australian Navy sailors sacked over ‘inappropriate’ social media posts

The Royal Australian Navy has dismissed several sailors for the inappropriate use of social media.

Nobody would have been dismissed over social media posts that depicted Christianity, Buddhism or Judaism for that matter.

Reports emerged in January that the Navy had launched an internal investigation into the fact some sailors engaged in Operation Sovereign Borders had been posting anti-Islamic comments on social media.

The reports claimed at least 20 of them were members of the Australian Defence League, an anti-Islamic group affiliated with the English Defence League, which has often led violent street marches in the UK.

This is disgusting. This is dhimmitude on steroids.

Revealed: Australian-made Islamic death threats

Two videos go up on YouTube. Both were made in Australia.

The first is by Zaky Mallah. He boasts of being Australia’s first Islamic terrorist. The tone of his voice is one of contempt for the non-Islamic world and he deliberately blows smoke into the camera to reinforce his message of disdain and scorn. Mallah arrogantly claims that Islam will be spread throughout Australia. He beats his fist into his hand while stating that ‘on his watch’ Islam will take on all who interfere. And then comes the ominous and loaded warning to one Nathan Abela: his anti-Islamic actions have not gone unnoticed by the very many Muslim bikies. He names at least three different bikie groups. Abela should watch out.

The second is not unlike the grainy videos associated with beheadings in Afghanistan. A man in military attire speaks in front of an Islamic flag. The logo in the top left corner is a slight variation of al Qaeda’s and in fact is that of an outlawed Islamic group that hails from Germany: Millatu Ibrahim. In a mixture of Arabic and English another warning is also sent to Nathan Abela. To the stark background music of a gun being cocked and fired, Abela is told that he has a choice: accept Islam or die.

This video has now been taken down from its original site. However, I saved a copy of this video and have uploaded a shortened version below.

Both videos were uploaded onto You Tube in late March.

And just a few days later, on 03 April 2014, seven bullets were uploaded through the front door, wall and window of Nathan Abela’s house.

The governor of China’s restive far western region of Xinjiang wrote on Monday that Islamist militants were trying to ban laughter at weddings and crying at funerals, as he appealed to people to stamp out the “tumour” of extremism.

Xinjiang, resource-rich and strategically located on the borders of central Asia, has been beset by violence for years, blamed by the government on Islamist militants and separatists.

The political movements have an obligation to resolve their differences at the ballot box, and not through bullets.”
“I hereby declare, in the make of President Mahmoud Abbas and the directorate of Fatah, that Hamas is a Palestinian movement, and is not and never was a terror group,” Erekat added. (EoZ)
