Quran Sound, Sane and Rational?
That’s certainly doubtful. What’s certainly not doubtful is: The Quran is a ‘laughing stock’. Â (Ali Sina)
In the comment section of this site I asked a Muslim who said people should read the Quran instead of reading my articles, whether she has read the Quran. She replied, “Yes I did. Your strategies are not going to work on any sound, sane and rational mind. You’re wasting your time, take my word.”
I am not going to take her word, but I decided to quote a few verses of the Quran and ask Muslims to highlight the parts that are sound, sane and rational.
The Quran says (Q.2:31),
“Allah taught Adam all the names of the plants and animals.” And then the angels tested him to make sure he has remembered them.
So far zoologists have recorded 20,000 species of fish, 6,000 species of reptiles, 9,000 birds, 1,000 amphibians, and 15,000 species of mammals. And, although there are a million named species of insects, scientists estimate that there could be another million waiting to be discovered and named! This number does not include subspecies. There are even more species of plants.
Under this light can you still say that the verse 2:31 is sound, sane and rational?
