Ten-year-old girls are ready for marriage, according to Saudi Arabia’s most senior cleric. 

* Sure. Because  Islamic tradition says that Muhammad married Aisha when she was six and consummated the marriage when she was nine, and when the Saudi Grand Mufti now tells us that 10 is cool, then who could argue with that? Because the prophet did it, uswa hasana, al insan al kamil, (“excellent example” of conduct (Qur’an 33:21) it is the best example to follow, for all mankind, for all time…

Ten-year-old girls are ready for marriage, according to Saudi Arabia’s most senior cleric. 

Sheikh Abdul-Aziz Al Sheikh, the country’s grand mufti, told Al Hayat newspaper that those saying ten or 12-year-old girls are too young to marry are being ‘unfair’ to them.

Al Sheikh’s comments come at a time when Saudi human rights groups have been pushing the government to put an end to marriages involving the very young and to define a minimum age for marriage. 

In the past few months, Saudi newspapers have highlighted several cases in which young girls were married off to much older men or very young boys.

Forced marriage cases up 80 pc this year as investigators find parents using "bounty hunters"

A special Government unit dedicated to stopping teenagers being married off by their families dealt with 300 cases in the first half of this year, up from 168 in the same period of 2007.

As long as the mainstream media keeps doing this, instead of calling the American Muslim community to some accountability, more Muslim girls will be murdered for honor in the United States.

But the head of the Forced Marriage Unit, based at the Foreign Office, fears this could be just the tip of the iceberg as many victims are too scared to come forward and communities often close up to hide what is going on.

Nine-year-old brides saved by authorities from being married off in Muslim weddings

British Muslim children as young as nine are being forced to marry against their will by their families, campaigners have warned.

Charities supporting victims of forced marriages report growing numbers of young teenagers and children seeking help.

They are urging schools to take tougher action where they suspect pupils are at risk, and to monitor their rolls carefully and raise the alarm when children disappear. 

Thousands of Britons of Muslims who settled in Britain – mainly young women from the Asian Musulmanic communities – are thought to be victims of forced marriage each year, but concerns are increasingly focused on the plight of underage girls who are being offered for marriage to foreign men when they have barely left primary school.

Narrated ‘Ursa:
The Prophet wrote the (marriage contract) with ‘Aisha while she was six years old and consummated his marriage with her while she was nine years old and she remained with him for nine years (i.e. till his death).

Authorities in Morocco have shut down around 60 Koranic schools belonging to a Muslim theologian who argues that girls as young as nine can marry, officials said today.

The authorities also plan to close down the Internet site on which Sheikh Mohamed Ben Abderrahman Al-Maghraoui decreed earlier this month that the marriage of nine-year-old girls is allowed by Islam.
