Ali Sina goes mainstream, interview in the Jerusalem Post

* Ali Sina, in case you don’t know, is the nome de guerre of an Iranian ex-muslim who operates Faith Freedom International, a site that attracts many muslims who would murder him if given a chance, because the site attracts many muslims who are ready to leave the cult of the mad prophet pretender Muhammad.  Sina does the best he can to help them out of their shackles.

Stand for free speech

To Westerners and moderate Muslims shocked by the radical form of Islam now topping nightly newscasts, the efforts of liberal-minded Muslims like Tawfik Hamid, Italian Sheikh Abdul Hadi Palazzi and a handful of others may seem like the perfect solution. Not so for Ali Sina, who has a different suggestion: destroy Islam.

Sina, who runs Faith Freedom International – an Internet forum dedicated to debunking Islam – calls himself “probably the biggest anti-Islam person alive.” The publication of his latest book, Understanding Muhammad: A Psychobiography of Allah’s Prophet, will likely cement that position. In it, Sina suggests that Islam’s central figure suffered from a series of mental disorders, including narcissistic personality disorder, temporal lobe epilepsy and obsessive compulsive disorder.

“These disorders,” he says via telephone, “can explain the phenomenon known as Islam… which is nothing but one man’s insanity.”

Sina grew up a non-practicing Muslim. Raised in Iran, educated in Pakistan and Italy and now living in Canada, he began jousting with believers in the 1990s. What bothered him, he tells The Jerusalem Post, was not the penchant for jihad and intolerance that certain fanatical Muslims displayed, but the foundation for such ills in the Koran and core Islamic texts.

(Through the Faith Freedom Web site, Sina lists canonical references to Muhammad’s actions and offers $50,000 to anyone who can disprove Sina’s charge that Islam’s prophet was “a narcissist, a misogynist, a rapist, a pedophile, a lecher, a torturer, a mass murderer, a cult leader, an assassin, a terrorist, a mad man and a looter.” Respondents relentlessly attack Sina’s motives, but none has won the prize.)

With violent conquest and contempt for non-believers central to the tenets of the faith, Sina argues, attempts to forge a moderate form of Islam are doomed.

“The idea that Islam can be reformed is a fallacy,” he scoffs. “It’s like saying we can reform Nazism and it will be a wonderful party.”

No, says Sina, “The only way to reform Islam is to throw away the Koran; 90 percent of it should be thrown away. You also have to throw away the history of Islam, and you have to completely disregard the Sira” – the Arabic term used for the various traditional Muslim biographies of Muhammad, from which most historical information about his life and the early period of Islam is derived.

For this reason, Sina says, Western suggestions that extremism in Islam can be eradicated if certain imams are quieted, or if Muslims are encouraged to embrace the universalist elements of their faith – but without addressing the extremism inherent in the religion’s texts – are based on a mistaken comparison of Islam to Christianity.

“In the West, people ask whether Islam can undergo a reformation like the one that Christianity underwent. That’s a poor parallel,” he says. “In Christianity, it wasn’t the religion that needed to be reformed, but the church; what Jesus preached was good.”

On the other hand, Sina continues, “In Islam, it’s not the community that is bad, but the religion. Islam has nothing like ‘Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.’ Islam is full of hatred, and the hatred is in Muhammad himself. I argue in my book that Muhammad was insane – and that Muslims, by emulating him and by emulating his ways, his insanity is bequeathed to them.”

BY NOW, CRITICS of Islam are fairly common in the West. And there are more than a few former Muslims who have rejected Islam in favor of Christianity, citing the difference between their former religion’s overwhelming focus on hatred and their newfound faith’s central teaching of love and forgiveness. But, like Wafa Sultan, Ibn Warraq, Ayaan Hirsi Ali and the handful of other apostate Muslims demanding that Muslims reject the negative aspects of their religion, Sina’s critiques are especially problematic.

“People have to dismiss me some way, they have to put me down in one way or another. I’m a Jew, I’m a Christian, I’m a Hindu. I’m whatever people want to say in order to discredit me,” says Sina, who closely guards his true identity because of the death threats he receives. “But they can’t ignore my questions.”

Sina has little patience for those who believe they can temper Islam with reason and mutual respect, or for those who remain cowed by the masses of Muslim devotees around the world.

“Islam is the biggest hoax, the biggest lie,” he says. “Yes, a billion people believe it. But truth is truth. People will eventually see it. Believe me, there is no other answer. We will pay a great price until we realize that this is the solution – to undermine Islam itself, to show Muslims that this religion is not from God, that Muhammad was a charlatan and a liar.”

Sina knows that his blunt, outspoken approach can be “problematic.” But he is confident nonetheless that the force of his arguments will ultimately prevail.

“I am sure that, with time, I will convince millions and millions of Muslims, and the foundations of Islam will collapse,” he says.

Already, he continues, Faith Freedom has attracted an impressive amount of attention.

In Iran, my site is banned. In many parts of Pakistan, it is banned. The list goes on,” he says. “Despite this, I have over 10 million readers in just over two and a half years. And I have received letters from Muslims from all over the world. Muslims everywhere are paying attention. I believe that Muslims everywhere are realizing that something is amiss.

“If I didn’t have so much success in convincing people, then I would not be so confident. But I see that truth works. So many people who are now writing for me and putting things up on Youtube; seven or eight years ago, we were having fierce debates. Now, they are my greatest allies. There are many people who have seen the light after reading FFI and many of them are now working on my side, trying to help others to see the truth.

“This is the way to fight evil. I do not want to kill the enemy. I want to win them as friends and allies. That is the real victory. In this way, we win because we eliminate our enemy, and our enemy wins by eliminating his ignorance and hate. That is why I believe in my cause. That is why I think I am an instrument of peace.”

  1. This was GREAT! And the guy who conducted the interview ALSO wrote the piece about Bostom’s ‘Legacy of Islamic Antisemitism’; and another piece about cross-fertilisation between the Nazis and the Muslims (one begins to wonder…is it possible that, rather than – as many seem to think – the Nazis influenced the Muslims, things were in fact more the other way round?); and these were also linked to a story about the sufferings of Jews within the Muslim lands. All in JPost together, on the same day.

  2. “the Nazis influenced the Muslims, things were in fact more the other way round?”

Yes indeed,Sylvia: things were in fact the other way around, Hitler was a great admirer of the pedophile prophet pretender Muhammad. It is well recorded that he admired the warrior creed of the Musulman who is prepared to kill and die for his belief-system, and he certainly wished that the German soldier would measure up to this ideal.

  3. In regards to the above comments: Hitler’s wish is sadly coming to pass. Germany becomes more ummahfied every day.

  4. Ali Sina’s site was one of the sites that had a major influence in me, around 6/7 years ago, when I was a wishy-washy Christian, and was ignorant of Islam and Muhammad.
Thankfully, God used Ali’s site, “Answering Islam” to teach me the truth about Muhammad, and to make me sure about my Christian faith.

I sure do hope that Ali’s goal of revealing the truth fo the Muslims works, bkz we are loosing our time.

  5. In the above coment, a “and” is missing between “Ali’s site” and “Answering islam”

  6. Ali Sina is a hero of mine because he dares to speak the truth about Islam and its barbaric so called prophet Muhammad who is the true Allah of islam ,After all islam is not actually about worship of any god but Muhammad .
Islam was never about peace because Muhammad was never about peace Muhammad was a very bad man!!!!

  7. That’s all played wrong Ali Sina has been proven wrong from the beginning,He wanted not only to destroy Islam but to destroy all muslims their children, male and female,Old and young as well…His words are : ( to nuke them ) His hatred to the muslims it will take him to a dead end…Because nobody will listen to him except the ones who are already mentally sick,or racists against the muslims.

He uses Ahadith which are not the main source of Islam,it comes in the second position after the Koran and there are a lots of things concerning Ahadith and its sources.

He never dare to Stand up and Challenge the Muslims in public speech claiming if he does so he will be killed, and that’s not true why? Many debaters challenged muslims in public debates and never been killed but they looked so stupid and their ideas reached no mind…

He said many people are leaving Islam and that’s not true again, many people are converting from other religions to Islam as well, how do you explain that?

I’m a christian and i read a lots about other religions and I am sure Sina helped me to understand Islam better the right way i should understand it not the way Sina or the church want me to .

  8. ‘Patrick,’

You are not a Christian but a typical Muhammean liar.

Ali Sina NEVER called for nuking muslims and their children. Now you go right ahead and explain which race is Islam?
Since you claim it is ‘racist’ to criticize it you probably know which race it is, no?

As for ahadith Ali Sina is much better informed than any Islamic clerics, so why don’t you take it up with him?

He is perfectly within his rights not to speak publicly because muslims are lunatics and murderers and kill people who expose their horrible ‘profit’.

But whenever I read his debates with muslims it is Sina who wins two hands down and muslims come away looking like the idiots they are. So where do you come in?

  9. I just left a blog on myspace: http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=203134464&blogID=464599888 that has videos and is stating that there are
thousands of terrorist compounds in the U.S. If any of you are knowledgeable about this
or if you can get Ali Sina or someone who can speak for him to the blog, it would be
greatly appreciated! The last thing we need here is more chaos and fear based hatred.
But, if this is all true, we do need some help because it seems that our government is not
    doing anything! Thanks

oh, and look for a lady named Mila (the blog poster)

  10. SINA CANNOT BE SCIENTIFICALLY OBJECTIVE
Sina blames Islam and the muslims (in as much as he hates their being a Muslim) for all the terrors that we are being confronted today. He is telling us that Islam is Evil because SOME Muslim individuals and head of office or state are acting violently. No doubt about it. However, his hatred against Islam is based on his biased selection of facts. The fact that many (NOT ALL) individuals who have been reported to inflict harm on fellow human beings are affiliated with Islam does not necessarily mean that all muslim are harming other people. Neither does it mean that Islam must be the cause. Had he not consider also those Muslims who have positively contributed something to the world of science, arts, and literature? Did he also consider Muslims who are good citizens of their country? They are Muslims who are taking their inspiration from Islam. If he takes his facts from this Peace Loving Muslim Majority, should his present bias conclusion of Islam be significantly different from his first bias conclusion? It will be very difficult for Sina to come up with a scientifically reliable and valid conclusion due to the fact that he is influenced by his extreme personal bias against Islam.

SINA’S OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE PATHOLOGICAL HATRED FOR ISLAM
Any thoughts or act that are carried to the extend that it is done beyond the ‘norm’ is (in psychoanalytic parlance) considered as obsession (thought), compulsion (behavior), or compensation. Sina and other people of his kind are intent to seek and collect only facts and opinions that will support and strengthen their bias conclusion of Islam. He and the rest of his kind are so engrossed with their hatred of Islam. He will consciously and unconsciously ignore facts that are contrary to his biases. In Psychoanalytic literature, his Obsessive-Compulsive pathological hatred for Islam is just a reflection of his own deep seated unconscious and unresolved hatred in his personal life. It will be a good idea if he will allow psychoanalytic experts of Stanford University to have them study his life. Psychoanalytic Textbooks and Journals claim that an obsessive-compulsive pathological hatred for something is a reflection of a person’s unresolved unconscious conflict in life. Deducing from this Psychoanalytic Principle, Sina’s obsessive-compulsive pathological hatred for Islam is a reflection of his unresolved unconscious conflict in life. Using Psychoanalytic concept of Defense Mechanism, Sina’s obsessive-compulsive pathological hatred for Islam is called DISPLACEMENT. It is an unconscious way of defending against his neurotic anxiety. Psychoanalytic Science has already proven the Principle of Unconscious Motives and Unconscious Defense Mechanisms behind the mental process and behavior of human being. It is now for Sina to prove that the clinical evidence to this fact is wrong. Or perhaps he needs to confront his inner self in the Psychoanalytic coach. He can challenge professors of psychoanalysis at Stanford University if he doubts this psychoanalytic concepts and principles.

    I CAN SYMPATHIZE WITH SINA
Now if you read newspaper, listen to radio and view the daily tv broadcast of violence inflicted on our fellow human being by those who claim to be muslims (including violence done by some muslims against other innocent muslims)— knowing such crime cuts us our heart and soul painfully deep. However, unlike Sina, sane person will not SOLELY blame Islam as the ABSOLUTE CAUSAL FACTOR for such crime. he can say such conclusion if there are Scientific Survey cutting across all regions where Muslim lives. Let him find out how many among all the inhabitants of a region or country are Muslim. and how many of them did crimes that are usually reported in the news. With such statistics, Sina’s claim against Islam becomes a fact; otherwise it is all imagined opinions.

EVERY MUSLIM IS MORALLY RESPONSIBLE ON THE USE OF THE ORIGINAL SOURCES OF ISLAM
The Quran and Hadith (like the Bible) are collections of verses and sayings about peace and war, love and hate, retaliation and forgiveness, of rewards and punishments. These collections are by itself neither good nor evil. The Muslim who are using it is morally responsible on how he uses them to justify his actions for the circumstances he is into. Let’s take a knife as an analogy. A knife can be used to cut vegetables and spices in the kitchen. It cuts. A knife even though it is apparently a weapon of violence is not evil by itself. It is the act, the intent and the circumstance of the act that makes such weapon as weapon of evil. (The knife itself is not evil. In this case it is a only the weapon of evil). In other words, Islam is not evil itself. It has been used as weapon by individuals of evil intentions. Remember, the Quran and Hadith (like the Bible) are collections of verses and sayings about peace and war, love and hate, retaliation and forgiveness, of rewards and punishments. These collections are by itself neither good or evil. It is the individual who is responsible on how it was use.

One Muslim receives this collection and uses it for good; another muslim receives the same collection and uses them for evil. Should you and Sina conclude that Islam is Good or Evil? It depends whether or not the individual has the scientific attitude. The latter (i.e using Islam to harm fellow human beings), however, has the greater advantage of being widely publicized. While the former remains the silent majority.

    ISLAM COMPARED TO THE GOSPEL
What makes Quran different from these two? The historical circumstance in which the quran was revealed is significantly different from these two. The Messenger of God is the recognized leader of Madinah and whose community is under constant attack. The enemy is intent to delete them from the face of the earth. Given this circumstance, it is logically imperative that the Divine Being should provide instruction on how the members of his community can defend themselves and survive. That is why Revelations in the Madinah period contains what Sina to be violent. The Meccan period, on the other hand, is opposite to that of the Madinah period.

Jesus, unlike Moses, don’t have a community to defend. If his social status was like that of Muhammad and Moses with a community under attack, his Gospel would have become similar to that of the Old Testaments and the Quran in the Madinah period. Otherwise, it will stupidity for him and his followers to apply all Gospel in the face of the rushing enemy ready to cut his throat and his followers neck!

SINA FOCUSED ONLY ONE DIMENSION OF ISLAM
Islam is a three dimensional religion. On the individual-spiritual level (Tasawwuf/Sufism Islamic Mysticism) Islam is as gentle as the Buddhist Monks. On the intellectual Level (Falsafah our Islamic Philosophy) we have famous examples such as as Avicenna and Averroes. (In Malaysia we have Muhammad Atta), Visit the community of Muslim Sufis, and tell me if Islam from which this gentle people takes their inspiration– is evil. Visit our Muslim Philosophers from the different the Highly Esteemed Universities in the world, and tell me if Islam is Evil. However, if Sina and the rest of his kind is sick with the Obsessive-Compulsive Pathological Hate for Islam, he will ignore these good people and limits his attention only on SOME bad sectors of the human society. Thus, he will justify his conclusion and continue to nurture his hatred for Islam.

  11. Sina need to have an intelelctual discussion with the Professors of Sociology in the estemed Universities of the world. It will be a challenging idea to talk about how does the Scientific Community of Sociologist explain how some Muslim had been acting violently. I respect the Reasoned Opinion of the Scientific Community. Sina? His are opinions driven are opinions based on selected facts. Members of the Scientific community has a Reasoned and Balance View of understanding social phenomena. Sina is apparently intelligent; It would be a good idea for him to defend his book before the Panel of Experts whose expertise is relevant to what he has written. Imagine ho a student of PhD is being cross examined before a panel of experts. Do you think Sina’s book can get a passing mark without massve revision? he he he

    Yours in Islam

    sokratiz zen

    1. Thank you sokratiz.

You say you respect the “Reasoned Opinion of the Scientific Community”- I suppose that means Islamic science then?

Sina? His are opinions driven are opinions based on selected facts. Members of the Scientific community has a Reasoned and Balance View of understanding social phenomena.

Perhaps you could enlighten us as to the goals of Islam if Ali Sina has got it all wrong.

As for “reason and balance” I refer to the following excerpt from Dr A Carlebach:

Arab Islamic countries do not suffer from poverty, or disease, or illiteracy, or exploitation; they only suffer from the worst of all plagues: Islam. Wherever Islamic psychology rules, there is the inevitable rule of despotism and criminal aggression. The danger lies in Islamic psychology, which cannot integrate itself into the world of efficiency and progress, that lives in a world of illusion, perturbed by attacks of inferiority complexes and megalomania, lost in dreams of the holy sword. The danger stems from the totalitarian conception of the world, the passion for murder deeply rooted in their blood, from the lack of logic, the easily inflamed brains, the boasting, and above all: the blasphemous disregard for all that is sacred to the civilized world…their reactions — to anything — have nothing to do with good sense. They are all emotion, unbalanced, instantaneous, senseless. It is always the lunatic that speaks from their throat. You can talk ‘business’ with everyone, and even with the devil. But not with Allah…This is what every grain in this country shouts. There were many great cultures here, and invaders of all kinds. All of them — even the Crusaders — left signs of culture and blossoming. But on the path of Islam, even the trees have died.

  12. Sokratiz, can one criticize Muhammad and remain alive in any Muslim country? How do u explain this?
