A homeless man in Brussels was beaten to a pulp this past Friday. His assailants were arrested and will presumably be charged with assault and battery soon, but what’s genuinely shocking is the reasoning behind the attack.You see, the two assailants were Muslim men, who when walking by in the street, became enraged that this homeless man had the sheer audacity to drink during Ramadan.

In a (presumably) non-Muslim country!

According to eyewitness accounts, “The father started screaming at him that he had ‘no right to drink during Ramadan,'” which doesn’t sound all that “peaceful” or “tolerant” to me….

An Egyptian who fled Islam and now lives under that religion’s sentence of death says the goal of global jihad simply is the takeover of the world.

The man, who now is a pastor in the United States and uses the pseudonym Muhammad Kemel, recently was interviewed by Joel Richardson, co-editor of “Why We Left Islam: Former Muslims Speak Out.”

 

Kemel said Islamic tradition teaches that those who leave Islam should be killed, and Muhammad taught, “Whoever leaves his religion (Islam) kill him.” And while the United States is not governed by Islam’s Shariah religious law, many fundamentalist Muslims do not see Shariah law as being limited by national boundaries.

Kemel said the truth is that the events of Sept. 11, 2001, were the actions of those who were following the Quran closely.

“Sadly I heard some of our American leaders and church pastors state that Islam is a peaceful religion, and what happened on 9/11 was done by fanatic Muslims,” Kemel said. “These individuals ignore the fact that the main goal of Islam is to rule the world.”

He said such instructions are clear in the Quran and Islam’s hadiths, or sayings that have been handed down from generation to generation.

Barack Obama held a conference call this week with more than 900 rabbis (does the Obama campaign do anything that is not  on a grandiose scale?) to extend greetings to them and their congregants ahead of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. I am unaware if he has ever held such a conference call before but he is in a tight Presidential race with the Jewish vote playing a key role in several battleground states. Many in the community have concerns about Barack Obama’s support for Israel and the sincerity of the statements he has made on the campaign trail.  Here is a quick fact-check after his latest expression of support for Israel:

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Tuesday (Sept. 23) used the  platform of the U.N. General Assembly to lash out once again at the U.S. and Israel, telling world leaders, “[The] American empire in the world is reaching the end of its road…”

Speaking about Israel, Ahmadinejad said, “Today, the Zionist regime is on a definite slope to collapse, and there is no way for it to get out of the cesspool created by itself and its supporters.”

The 63rd session of the U.N. General Assembly began on Sept. 16, and the general debate is scheduled for Sept. 23 – Oct. 1.

Ahmadinejad’s comments Tuesday echo past remarks he has made, including calls to annihilate Israel and threats to the U.S. and other countries that supportIsrael. In June, Ahmadinejad said, “The countdown for the decline of America’s demonic power has begun.” [1] A month earlier, Ahmadinejad said, “If countries in the region continue to [support] Israel they will be burned by the wrath of the nations.” [2]
