Newsflash: Judges told to step down in Wilders trial

Judges in the hate speech trial of Dutch anti-Islam MP Geert Wilders have been ordered to step down by an independent appeals panel.

Wilders has joined with the centuries of distinguished scholars who reached the exact same conclusions about Islam back when it was politically acceptable to voice such concerns.

In April 2008, during his keynote address to the first conference of the Association for the Study of the Middle East and Africa,Â Professor Bernard Lewis warned of the ominous limits on scholarly analysis of Islam imposed by political correctness and multiculturalism:

The degree of thought control, of limitations on freedom of speech and expression is without parallel in the Western world since the eighteenth century and in some cases longer than that. … It seems to me it’s a very dangerous situation, because it makes any kind of scholarly discussion of Islam, to say the least, dangerous. Islam and Islamic values now have a level of immunity from comment and criticism in the Western world that Christianity has lost and Judaism has never had.

The politicized prosecution of Dutch MP Geert Wilders for his free speech criticism of Islam is a case study illustrating Professor Lewis’ most grave concerns. But it is also possible that theÂ outrageous proceedings against Geert Wilders may have pushed the Western freedom-stifling agenda of Islamic correctness too far.

This past Friday (10/15/10)Â Dutch prosecutors asked the presiding judges to acquit Mr. Wilders on all charges of inciting hate and discrimination.Â Wilders was unsurprisingly “very happy” with the prosecutors’ recommendations, adding with his usual plainspoken lucidity:

I do not insult, I do not incite to hatred, I do not discriminate. The only thing I do and will continue to do is to speak the truth.

It’s the Dutch government that should be on trial….for cowardice, corruption and treason. But the Dutch people are getting the picture and showing increasing support for Wilders. If there were a general election tomorrow, he would win.

“The Dutch government is faced with a dilemma…a situation requiring a choice between equally undesirable alternatives...convict Geert and destroy free speech or acquit Geert and face a never-ending flurry of Muslim violence…”

Appeasement and dhimmitude: the Dutch authorities are hoping that if they throw Wilders to the wolves, they will stem the tide of the jihad and Islamization in the Netherlands.

Breaking news from the Netherlands. Dutch biggest newspaper calls it the trial of the century (NL), because the government today announced it is going to trial Geert Wilders on January 20th (See also: the earlier court rulling that made it possible).Â The timing is remarkable, because it’s just before the municipality elections, a busy time for the politician.

Busy or not, Geert Wilder [sic]Â will have to defend himself in criminal court for speaking out against Islam.

So via multiculturalism and political correctness, Sharia norms are now being enforced by the Dutch secular authorities.

The charges brought against him are: racism and hate mongering (no actual hate crimes have ever been connected to him, his political movement or his speeches).

Renowned criminal trial lawyer Bram Moszkowicz will represent him durring [sic] the trial. It’s still unknown what his defense will look like. But in today’s paper Wilders says he might call radical Imams and other idiots to the stand in support of his defense.

“I find it horrible that I’m prosecuted” says Wilders. “This is a political trial and it’s sad that I’m prosecuted as a criminal for only voicing my political opinions. I hope free speech will prevail. [But] I am convinced that the trial can only lead to my acquittal”….

A BURNLEY man is set to stand trial later this year over allegations that he racially abused BNP leader Nick Griffin.

Lawyers representing Tauriq Khalid claimed that his prosecution, relating to an alleged incident at a demonstration in Burnley last November,Â “might not be in the public interest.”

* Otherwise… 10 000 Muslims would go apeshit and riot against the state?

Khalid, 25, of Windermere Avenue, Burnley, pleaded not guilty to using racially abusive threatening behaviour towards Griffin on November 18.

Defence barrister Zoe Neild told Preston Crown Court that the trial may be used by people “for their own political motivations”.

“It may not have been given consideration at the highest levels within the Crown Prosecution Service and we would ask that this is done,” she added.

The incident, where Khalid is alleged to have hurled ‘racist’ abuse at Griffin, is said to have taken place while the party leader was being interviewed by the group’s internet broadcast arm, BNPTV.

But Jonathan Oultram, for the crown, said the case had been reviewed by a senior lawyer and would still proceed.

Recorder of Preston, Judge Anthony Russell QC, said he had also read the case papers and was satisified that the matter had been considered by senior CPS figures.

Khalid was released on bail by Judge Russell to face a three-day trial at Preston, beginning on November 2.

The incident is alleged to have occurred at a BNP demonstration outside Burnley Police Station, in Parker Lane, over the prospect of four party supporters from East Lancashire being charged with racial incitement offences regarding the distribution of leaflets linking Muslim gangs to the heroin trade.

*Griffin was convicted in 1998 of distributing material likely to incite racial hatred.

But she ain’t. And this trial is as frivolous as her nomination to the “Young Australian of the Year” awards.

Recounting the interview that followed her arrest, Inspector Steven Patton told the NSW District Court yesterday: “As she was saying this she was sobbing and said, ‘I spoke at your multicultural day, how embarrassing, you must have all been laughing’.”

Insp Patton spoke to Ms Hage-Ali after she was picked up in Sydney on suspicion of “very low level” cocaine dealing on November 6, 2006.

KIDNAPPING TRIAL POSTPONED DUE TO RAMADAN

PARIS, SEPTEMBER 5 – The main unions of the French magistrates said they are “astonished” by the decision of the criminal court of Rennes to postpone “due to the Ramadan” a trial of abduction. The trial had to begin on September 16, exactly in the middle of the sacred month for the Muslims, but the defending counsel has asked and obtained a postponement, affirming that his client, of Islamic faith, was “too weak” due to the fast.
