Honor killing in Germany: Girl’s face “beaten beyond recognition”

Honor killing: “Retaliation is obligatory against anyone who kills a human being purely intentionally and without right.” However, “not subject to retaliation” is “a father or mother (or their fathers or mothers) for killing their offspring, or offspring’s offspring.” (‘Umdat al-Saliko1.1-2.) In other words, someone who kills his child incurs no legal penalty under Islamic law.

* Hmm, but the  “Muslim community” didn’t demonstrate in favor of the troops either. Neither did they declare their loyalty to the infidel nation state of Britain. What are the views of his community then? And why should we believe a guy who adheres to a religion that teaches “war is deceit?”

He is the founder of the Institute for College Freedom.

JW: What, exactly, should be done to the professors teaching these classes? Should they be banned from teaching these classes? Should they be fired? Should their course readings be controlled by someone else?

DH: The university presents itself as an organization of professionals with standards of performance and excellence. If professors fail to meet these standards what is the remedy? Isn’t that a question for the organization itself to answer? Contrary to the misrepresentations of my efforts by many of my opponents I have never suggested that universities be governed by outside authorities whether governmental or otherwise. The best remedy in my view would be for these problems to be handled by faculty at the departmental level. However, that requires an interest from faculty in holding itself accountable. So far I have seen very little interest on the part of faculty in correcting the malpractices documented in One-Party Classroom. In some cases such as Women’s Studies, moreover, the violation of long-standing academic standards takes place at the departmental level itself. In these cases there would have to be an academic committee consisting of faculty peers at the level of the college, or even the university. However, I am optimistic by nature (otherwise I wouldn’t be spending my time banging my head against these stone walls) and don’t see why it shouldn’t be possible to change these attitudes and get on with the task.

Opposition Foreign Affairs spokeman Julie Bishop is right – there is no way the Rudd Government should go to the UN’s latest group hate against the West and Israel:


The Australian Government should not attend the United Nations Durban Review Conference, to be held in Geneva on 20-24 April, due to the obvious potential for a repeat of the anti-Semitism that marred the first Durban conference..

The Australian Jewish News is even more adamant:

The US has joined Israel and Canada in pulling out. Some European countries have also indicated they are considering not attending the conference in Geneva… Robert Goot, president of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry and Philip Chester, president of the Zionist Federation of Australia, both called on Australia to follow the US.

The US State Department agrees the draft document of the UN conference is clearly anti-Israeli, and suggests it is also biased against the West and its freedoms:

Sadly, however, the document being negotiated has gone from bad to worse, and the current text of the draft outcome document is not salvageable… It must not single out any one country or conflict, nor embrace the troubling concept of “defamation of religion.” The U.S. also believes an acceptable document should not go further than the DDPA on the issue of reparations for slavery.

So why is the Rudd Government so eager to go to such a festival of hatred against our values and allies? Writer Alan Gold is right – because a refusal to attend might offend Muslim and African countries whose UN votes Kevin Rudd is unnaturally eager to have:

Foreign Minister Stephen Smith hasn’t yet announced whether Australia will attend the review in Geneva. Much is at stake. Australia is a leading contender for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council and boycotting may affect how we are viewed at the tables of the world body.

How shameful a sell-out. As if it wasn’t enough that to toady for UN votes this Government has already voted for two anti-Israeli resolutions in the United Nations that the Howard Government wouldn’t support, and has now resumed aid even to Mugabe’s Zimbabwe.

Barely a month into the presidency of Barack Obama, a profound realization is spreading among the pro-Israel community: we do not have an ally in the White House. The growing threat that Israel and the Jewish People now face demands an immediate acceptance of the “facts on the ground” regarding President Obama’s perspective and agenda, and decisive action to prevent the frightening reality that he may play a leading role in creating.
So how exactly did this get by most Jewish voters during last year’s election? While some, including this author, warned of his dubious associations and likely course of action regarding Israel, Obama brilliantly pandered to Jewish crowds around the country with his scripted and amorphous proclamations of support for Israel, while utilizing an array of prominent Jewish surrogates in order to avoid any real accountability.

Note the forthright avowals that the Book of Peace itself commands them to fight against unbelievers simply because they are unbelievers (“it would have been the greatest religious duty to fight you over your infidelity”). Note also the invitation to Islam, the liberal employment of the tu quoque fallacy, and the displacement of responsibility that we have come to expect from Islamic jihadists and their allies.

We constantly hear that to speak about the jihad doctrine and Islamic supremacism as rooted in Islamic texts and teachings is to “side with the extremists.” All right — then why doesn’t a moderate Muslim go through this and refute this use of the Qur’an? It would be most interesting to see Ibrahim Hooper or some other vaunted moderate Muslim reply to the Islamic beliefs and assumptions manifest here. Honest Ibe, want to have a crack at it? Or maybe Khaleel Mohammed? Anyone? Anyone? Now would be a terrific time to delineate in specific terms your differences with this approach to Islam, wouldn’t it?

The Taleban commander responsible for increasingly sophisticated bomb attacks on British soldiers in Afghanistan is a former detainee of Guantánamo Bay released from prison in Kabul last year by Hamid Karzai’s Government, The Times has learnt.  Abdullah Ghulam Rasoul was held in Guantánamo for six years before being released to Afghan authorities in December 2007, after a US military review board decided unanimously that he was no longer a threat.

How many more will be released when Barack Obama closes Guantanamo?

The Government’s neurotic placating of Islamists has not yet led to the censorship of tabloids for giving vent to occasional outrage. “Hate for Heroes: Muslims in vile demo”, declared yesterday’s Sun, rightly furious that in Luton 15 or so youths had screamed “terrorists” at a homecoming parade of the Royal Anglia’s 2nd Battalion and waved banners calling the soldiers baby-killers and butchers. Other newspapers showed a group of watching women enveloped in abayas and niqabs.

In some ways the silent women were the more potent image of what disturbs readers of broadsheets as well as tabloids, their dress providing an in-your-face statement that they consider themselves proudly separate from the rest of us.

As Sudan Tribune writes, “an alliance of Sudanese Islamic jihadists and Darfur Arab militia groups pledged to carry out attacks against countries that are supporting the decisions of the International Criminal Court (ICC)” in retaliation to the last weeks indictment of Sudanese president, Omar al-Bashir, for the war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Darfur since 2003.

The alliance promised “world imperialists and CIA agents in US, UK, and France with another September 11 attack.” The group also called for assassinations of the ICC chief prosecutor and Darfur rebel leaders.

The joint statement was signed by the Martyr Abu-Qiseissah Suicide Group, Ansar Al-Sunnah Al-Jihadiyah Group, the Group in Search of Martyrdom, the Martyr Ali Abdel-Fattah Brigade, and the Darfur Lions Brigade.
