On Dec. 19, 2008, at 2 p.m., the New York-based Alavi Foundation, which supports Iranian causes, contributed between $25,000 and $50,000 to the William J. Clinton Foundation. This can be best described as the ultimate chutzpah, for on the very same day, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York indicted the president of the Alavi Foundation, Farshid Jahedi, “on a charge of obstruction of justice for allegedly destroying documents required to be produced under a grand jury subpoena concerning the Alavi Foundation’s relationship with Bank Melli Iran and the ownership of a Manhattan office building.”

Alavi’s contribution to Clinton came just two days after the Treasury Department also designated Alavi’s partner, the New York-based ASSA Corp., as a terrorist entity, and the New York Southern District’s attorney seized and forfeited its assets. According to the Treasury Department, “Assa … continued to provide services to Bank Melli by maintaining Melli’s interest in 650 Fifth Avenue Co. and transferring income from 650 Fifth Avenue Co. to Bank Melli.” ASSA owned 650 Fifth Avenue Co. together with the Alavi Foundation. Incredibly, the government seized only 40% of the 36-story building controlled by ASSA, leaving the Alavi Foundation in charge of the remaining 60%.

Singapore: Misunderstander of Islam admits to airport crash plot

Singapore, 14 Jan. (AKI) – A Singaporean terror suspect admitted that he and an Islamist militant fugitive planned to hijack an airplane in Thailand and crash it into Singapore’s Changi Airport.“We wanted to do it out of anger with Singapore for being an ally of the United States for what it did in Afghanistan,” said Mohammed Hassan Saynudin, quoted by Singaporean daily, The Straits Times.

Saynudin and alleged member of the militant Jemaah Islamiyah, Mas Selamat Kastari failed to carry out the attack six years ago after Thai authorities found out about it.

The terrorist attacks in Mumbai seven weeks ago sent shock waves around the world. Now all eyes are fixed on the Middle East, where Israel’s response to Hamas’s rockets, a ferocious military campaign, has already left a thousand Gazans dead.

Seven years on from 9/11 it is clear that we need to take a fundamental look at our efforts to prevent extremism and its terrible offspring, terrorist violence. Since 9/11, the notion of a “war on terror” has defined the terrain. The phrase had some merit: it captured the gravity of the threats, the need for solidarity, and the need to respond urgently – where necessary, with force. But ultimately, the notion is misleading and mistaken. The issue is not whether we need to attack the use of terror at its roots, with all the tools available. We must. The question is how.

Now They Admit it: U.N. Agency That Runs School Hit in Gaza Employed Hamas and Islamic Jihad Members

The United Nations agency that administers a school in Gaza where dozens of civilians were killed by Israeli mortar fire last week has admitted to employing terrorists to work at its Palestinian schools in the past, has no system in place to keep members of Hamas or Islamic Jihad off its payroll, and provides textbooks to children that contain hate speech and other incendiary information.

                                

A growing chorus of critics has taken aim at the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in recent years, although momentum on Capitol Hill has been slow. But last week’s incident, which Israel maintains was prompted by Hamas operatives firing mortars at Israelis from a location near the school, has prompted some lawmakers to scrutinize the U.N. agency.

The bill called on the agency to make its textbooks available on the Internet for public inspection and to implement “terrorist name recognition software and other screening procedures that would help to ensure that UNRWA staff, volunteers, and beneficiaries are neither terrorists themselves, nor affiliated with known terrorist organizations.”

The Inauguration Committee has only released one clergy name so far for the Jan. 21 National Prayer Service that caps the inauguration. The Rev. Sharon Watkins, the first woman president of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), a Protestant group, will deliver the sermon.

The Associated Press has learned additional details.

A prayer will be offered at the National Cathedral by Ingrid Mattson, the first woman president of the Islamic Society of North America, according to an official who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to release the information. The Islamic Society, based in Indiana, is the nation’s largest Muslim group.

An Invercargill cafe owner who says refusing to serve two Israeli women was one small protest from the bottom of the South Island.Mustafa Tekinkaya, who is Muslim and originally from Turkey, asked the two women to leave his Melvana Cafe after hearing them speak Hebrew and establishing they were Israeli .

Cairns Candlelight Vigil: A Non-Event

6:30 pm, Cairns City-Place:

A bunch of middle-aged and elderly people showed up, up to 30 of them, some beards, some obese,  some with keffieh, mostly Aussie, one clean shaven guy (probably gay) who sported a “Free Palestine” T-shirt talking to a reporter who eagerly noted everything he said (a supporting pen-pal for the cause) 3 Arabs, (probably Lebanese) a sign saying “Give Peace a Chance” and a few others similar, but nothing threatening. Stuck on stoopid in the sixties. Useful idiots, all of them.

Strange however that these good people are virtually blind when it comes to Hamas shooting thousands of rockets into Israel, hitting hospitals, schools and kindergartens with intend to kill as many civilians as possible. I was going to ask the guy with the “Free Palestine” T-shit  what he meant by ‘freeing Palistan’, because Gaza is already Judenrein, did he mean to free Palistan from da Jews or did he want it free from Hamas terrorists? But then I decided it wasn’t worth it. Waste of time. I watched for about an hour before I left. Passers-by didn’t show any interest either. Cairns is -still- a good place to live…

“Peace” group supports Israel dissolution

The so-called “peace” activists at the Canterbury-Bankstown Peace Group have revealed their true colours – they advocate a solution for the Middle East that involves “dissolving” Israel.

The group made its views known at a “peace” rally in Sydney last night.

The group’s spokesman was asked why a “peace” group supported Hamas when it doesn’t recognise Israel’s right to exist.

The answer – “neither do we”.

When asked how this should be put into practice, the spokesman said that Israel should be “dissolved”.

That involved the naive view that Jews could live in a new, expanded Arab and Muslim-run Palestine.

The spokesman was unable to explain what sort of peace such a plan would bring to the Middle East.

Given the murderous attitude held towards Jews by the terrorist organisation Hamas, it would be highly likely that not long after the state of Israel was “dissolved”, its Jewish inhabitants would be “liquidated”.

A BRISBANE radio station may have to explain why it should keep its licence after an announcer was accused of making anti-Islamic comments on air.

4BC radio announcer Michael Smith is accused of making anti-Islamic comments.

Former Victorian police officer, now 4BC drive-time announcer, Michael Smith called for Muslim women who wear an Islamichijab in public to be fined for offensive behaviour. 

He made the remarks on-air and on the 4BC website, saying: “Any reasonable person would find this offensive.”  * Don’t we all? But don’t expect any sympathy from the moonbats at the Courier Mail who see the offense in Michael Smith’s exercising his right to free speech…

“Does revenge really, at the end of the day, solve anything? No,” he said.

“We forgive him for his lack of understanding, we pray that God almighty gives him the wisdom and the understanding to respect every other individual.”

* Awful. Scummy. Slimy. From those who don’t tolerate us. Michael Smith already got death threats from these tolerant and forgiving Muslims. Wait when their numbers increase, what happens then?
