A man murdered his on-off girlfriend and her sister in a “brutal and depraved” attack, stabbing one of them more than 30 times, a court has heard.

Mohammed Ali, 29, of Old Snow Hill, Birmingham, had been in a relationship with Yasmine Larbi-Cherif, 22.

He denies murdering Ms Larbi-Cherif and her 19-year-old sister Sabrina, who were found at their flat near Birmingham city centre in September.

The prosecution said there was a “sexual motive” for the killings.

Well, I think this argument over a two-state solution is a complete red herring.

There is no Israeli government, including Netanyahu’s government, that would not accept a settlement in which a real Palestinian state genuinely accepted a settlement that ends the war with Israel and recognizes a Jewish state.

The problem is such a partner doesn’t exist and hasn’t existed ever. For the last nine years, you’ve had in Israel under Sharon and Olmert governments which accepted a two-state solution, have engaged in negotiations, and have essentially offered what Israel offered nine years ago under Ehud Barack, who’s now the defense minister, with Bill Clinton assisting in that offer of a Palestinian state and a settlement in perpetuity with Israel.

HONOLULU – Hawaii’s state Senate overwhelmingly approved a bill Wednesday to celebrate “Islam Day” — over the objections of a few lawmakers who said they didn’t want to honor a religion connected to Sept. 11, 2001.

The Senate‘s two Republicans argued that a minority of Islamic extremists have killed many innocents in terrorist attacks.

“I recall radical Islamists around the world cheering the horrors of 9/11. That is the day all civilized people of all religions should remember,” said Republican Sen. Fred Hemmings to the applause of more than 100 people gathered in the Senate to oppose a separate issue — same-sex civil unions.

With perfect timing, it emerges today that one of Britain’s most notorious hate preachers, Abu Izzadeen, has been released barely a year after he was jailed for four and a half years for inciting terrorism and terror fundraising.

Izzadeen (who sounds a lot less scary when you know he is really called Trevor Brooks) found notoriety in 2006 for heckling John Reid when the then-Home Secretary visited a London mosque. Read it all>>
