Philippines: Amnesty for Abu Sayyaf?

Amnesty for Abu Sayyaf Terrorist Group will send ‘terrible signal’

 Abu Sayyaf terrorists
The Inquirer – Maila Ager

MANILA, Philippines — Three senators have strongly opposed the proposed granting of amnesty to Abu Sayyaf Group, saying this would only send a wrong signal to other “criminal elements.”

“Amnesty for Abu Sayyaf is a bad idea. They’re an extremist fringe who should be taught to follow law and order,” Senator Aqulino Pimentel Jr. said on Wednesday.

“It sends a terrible signal,” said Senator Francis Pangilinan.

“It creates the impression that criminal elements involved in heinous offenses will be accommodated by an amnesty proclamation. Respect for our laws will be diminished severely by an amnesty proclamation,” he said.

An amnesty proclamation for Abu Sayyaf Group, Pangilinan said, would also give an impression the government was incapable of enforcing laws.

1.)  Jordan: Police Hand Woman Over to Brother After Finding Her With a Man, Immediately Stabbed 20 Times and Skull Crushed With Rock to “Cleanse Family Honor”….

H/T frutz

Saudi Arabia made headlines recently when two young Saudi women, Reem, 21, and Nouf, 19 were murdered by their brother who was attempting to restore his family’s honor.  What had the women done to dishonor their family?  They had spoken to men in public.

Saudi Arabian law prohibits men and women from mingling in public.  (A few other Saudi laws include: amputating the limbs of robbers, flogging those who are drunk, and prohibiting women from driving.)

The Saudi Arabian religious police enforce the law that proscribes men and women from ‘mixing’ in public, and a women’s rights group is blaming the police for this murder: had the women not been arrested, the brother wouldn’t have been compelled to slay his sisters, who he thought were shaming his family.  Reem and Nouf’s father was present during the murder, and he approved his son’s actions. UAE: Non-Arab Immigrants May Face ‘Quotas’

Can you imagine what would happen if any country governed by white people instituted a policy like this one? Suppose Sweden or Ireland decided to limited the numbers of non-Europeans it would allow in as immigrants?

Why, the howls of outrage would resound through the halls of the UN and the EU!

wives31Fellow Americans: Prepare to receive the entire female population of Pakistan sometime soon. And that’s just for starters. I don’t oppose this—but I honestly don’t know if we can economically afford to do it. Given the recession/depression, I rather doubt we can. But get ready for something like this to happen anyway.

Today, the Obama administration reversed a Bush-era policy and opened the way for “foreign women who are victims of severe domestic beatings and sexual abuse to receive asylum in the United States.” The battered women will have to meet “strict conditions for asylum” and will also have to show that “domestic abuse is widely tolerated in their country…that they could not find protection from institutions at home or by moving to another place within their own country.”

Unexploded bomb found in Jakarta Marriott; blasts targeted crowded hotel restaurants

An update on this story. The unexploded bomb was defused and could provide a wealth of evidence for investigators. “Hotel ‘terror’ blasts kill nine in Jakarta,” from CNN, July 17 via JW:

JAKARTA, Indonesia (CNN) — Bomb blasts tore through two luxury hotels Friday morning in Jakarta, Indonesia, killing at least nine people in what the country’s president called a “terrorist” attack.

Terror experts warned Jemaah Islamiah would bomb Western targets

*  Why do we need “terror experts” when we have Bucktooth Bashir?

Abu Bakar Ba'asyir the intellectual leader of Jemaah Islamiyah
The Age — Brendan Nicholson

TERRORISM specialists warned just two days ago that splinter groups from Jemaah Islamiah could bomb Western targets in Indonesia to re-establish their credibility.

Analysts Noor Huda Ismail and Carl Ungerer, of the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, said leadership tensions within JI and the release from prison of more than 100 of its members raised the possibility that they would try to re-energise the organisation through attacks.

Pretzel-logic from the Age: “fugitive terrorists are rallying points for young Indonesians, some of them radicalised in prison.”

* Update:  Suicide bombers posing as guests  killed eight people and wounded more than 50, AP (suicide bombers posing as guests? That’s a new one…)

Officials said more than 50 people were injured in the explosions at the Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriott hotels, which punched out the windows of a usually crowded restaurant and sent plumes of smoke into the sky.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said the bombings as the work of extremists.

“I condemn this terrorist attack,” Yudhoyono said. “I know they will never stop.”

Free Speech Death Watch Alert: Obama’s Ministry of Truth

“Gag the Internet!,” by Kyle Smith for the New York Post, thanks to JW

Ayn Rand in 1961: “Once a country accepts censorship pf the press and of speech, then nothing can be won without violence. Therefore, so long as you have free speech, protect it. This is the life-and-death issue in this country: do not give up the freedom of the press – of newspapers, books, magazines, radios movies, and other other form of presenting ideas. So long as that’s free, a peaceful intellectual turn is possible.

Obama appointee wants to gag the Internet

The Internet has served as the source of samizdat in the defense of the Free World against the global jihad. While the mainstream media moves in ever more craven lockstep, insistently retailing Islam-Is-Peace fantasies no matter how much the evidence mounts that there is a violent and supremacist imperative within Islam that must be addressed if it is ever going to be ended, one can still find the truth on the Internet, if one knows where to look. But if Obama and the OIC get their way, and I don’t see any reason why they won’t, this springtime won’t last much longer.

When it comes to the First Amendment, Team Obama believes in Global Chilling.

Cass Sunstein, a Harvard Law professor who has been appointed to a shadowy post that will grant him powers that are merely mind-boggling, explicitly supports using the courts to impose a “chilling effect” on speech that might hurt someone’s feelings. He thinks that the bloggers have been rampaging out of control and that new laws need to be written to corral them.

Advance copies of Sunstein’s new book, “On Rumors: How Falsehoods Spread, Why We Believe Them, What Can Be Done,” have gone out to reviewers ahead of its September publication date, but considering the prominence with which Sunstein is about to be endowed, his worrying views are fair game now. Sunstein is President Obama’s choice to head the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs. It’s the bland titles that should scare you the most….

Czar is too mild a world for what Sunstein is about to become. How about “regulator in chief”? How about “lawgiver”? He is Obama’s Obama.

In “On Rumors,” Sunstein reviews how views get cemented in one camp even when people are presented with persuasive evidence to the contrary. He worries that we are headed for a future in which “people’s beliefs are a product of social networks working as echo chambers in which false rumors spread like wildfire.” That future, though, is already here, according to Sunstein. “We hardly need to imagine a world, however, in which people and institutions are being harmed by the rapid spread of damaging falsehoods via the Internet,” he writes. “We live in that world. What might be done to reduce the harm?”

Sunstein questions the current libel standard – which requires proving “actual malice” against those who write about public figures, including celebrities. Mere “negligence” isn’t libelous, but Sunstein wonders, “Is it so important to provide breathing space for damaging falsehoods about entertainers?” Celeb rags, get ready to hire more lawyers….

And not just the celeb rags.

The Daily Truth about the Democrats’ National Energy Tax

Truth #13: Higher Energy Rates to Pay for Bike Paths in Senegal

The federal government will provide free carbon emission allowances to foreign governments, NGOs or private entities, who would in turn sell these allowances to utility companies and use the proceeds from the sales to support projects in developing countries.  It is expected that entities like domestic utility companies will raise their rates on American consumers to fund the purchase of these carbon emission allowances. (H.R. 2454, Sec. 441, p. 1212)

What this means for Americans Under the Democrats’ national energy tax, entities like utility companies will spend an estimated $58 billion in the year 2020 alone to purchase carbon emission allowances that will go to fund international projects.  These companies will collect this money through higher energy costs imposed on American families and businesses.  That money will be used to support international clean technology programs.  USAID’s international clean energy technology activities have included projects like the integrated bus rapid transit and bike path plan in Senegal, and the development of a hydrogen rickshaw in India.>With 14.7 million American workers unemployed, raising electricity prices on American households to fund bike paths overseas is the height of absurdity.

I’m honoured to write the back page of Canada’s leading legal magazine, Canadian Lawyer. I’ve been doing it for more than three years, and it’s a tough gig — imagine how nit-picky the readers can be! But I love it because of the quality of the readers, the legal focus of the column and the regular blasts I get in the letters page.

Anyways, some of my columns are available online, so over the next little while I’m going to link to some of those. Here’s one I wrote in May about Australia’s embarrassing attempt to censor the Internet. Some excerpts:

…Australia’s government nannies have officially banned 1,370 web sites. They’ve drawn up a blacklist, just like the medieval index of banned books. Right now it’s a voluntary pilot project to which Internet service providers can submit. But if the trial run is deemed a success and made law, anyone who links to a blacklisted site can be fined $11,000 a day. That means it will be a crime not just to provide the contents of a web site, but to merely reproduce its address.

That’s not just like banning books. It’s like banning books, and banning saying the banned book’s title. It’s a lot of banning.

Australia: Labor Legalizes More Catmeat Sheik's

No surprises here. The Left and Islam are brothers in arms – they are both totalitarian regimes that brook no opposition, and indeed believe in eliminating any opponents -often violently.

* Trouble is that this Islamofascist creep has already been in the country for ten years!

Andrew Bolt – Friday, July 17,

What is it with Labor and radical imams? Paul Keating had his Jew-hating, jihad-preaching Sheik Hilali:

Chris Hurford, immigration minister in the Hawke Labor government, tried in 1986 to have him deported after Hilali had overstayed a tourist visa in 1982 …because his reported utterances were dividing the Muslim community. But Hilali had two powerful Labor supporters on his side – Paul Keating and Leo McLeay – who would ultimately help him win his quest for permanent residency.

Now Robert McClelland has a Hilali of his own:

THE federal Attorney-General, Robert McClelland, supplied a glowing character reference for a Sydney sheik accused of spying for Iran just months after learning ASIO had rejected his residency application on national security grounds.

pm_sheikh_narrowweb__300x3690Spying for Iran: Mansour Leghaei

The Australian can reveal that Mr McClelland wrote two character references in 1997 for controversial Iranian cleric Mansour Leghaei, who is accused by ASIO of engaging in “specific acts of foreign interference”.  Sheik Leghaei has been fighting to stay in Australia for more than a decade, despite ASIO issuing two adverse security assessments against him.

Leghaei’s spying isn’t the only issue. His notebook could have been written by Hilali himself.

PS: Muslim Village loves him.

Hamas MP and Cleric on Swine Flu and “the Brothers of Apes and Pigs”– no doubt Mansour would agree with him:

Bombshell: Orders Revoked for Soldier Challenging Obama

More members of the military have joined the cause!

Barack Hussein Obama, in order to prove his constitutional eligibility to serve as president, basically needs only produce a single unique historical document for the Plaintiff’s inspection and authentication: namely, the ‘long-form’ birth certificate which will confirm whether Barack Hussein Obama was in fact born to parents who were both citizens of the United States in Honolulu, Hawaii, in or about 1961,” explains the complaint.

6a00d8341c60bf53ef0115711a564b970c-500wi

The more you read about Obama’a birth certificate being forged, the more it looks to have really been the case. A military officer who was acheduled to be deployed to Iraq, successfully managed to get his orders changed, due to his suspicion (justified) that B.Hussein Obamais not legally acting as Commander In Chief of US armed forced. B.Hussein Obama is the BOGUS POTUS!

H/T  TUNDRA TABLOIDS

“His attorney, Orly Taitz, confirmed to WND the military has rescinded his impending deployment orders.

“We won! We won before we even arrived,” she said with excitement. “It means that the military has nothing to show for Obama. It means that the military has directly responded by saying Obama is illegitimate – and they cannot fight it. Therefore, they are revoking the order!”

She continued, “They just said, ‘Order revoked.’ No explanation. No reasons – just revoked.”

A hearing on the questions raised by Maj. Stefan Frederick Cook, an engineer who told WND he wants to serve his country in Afghanistan, was scheduled for July 16 at 9:30 a.m.

Mark Steyn: The Right, er, Left

Today’s quote:  the moonbat slogan “Yes we can” sounds just like the sheep that bleat “Four legs good, two legs bad” in Animal Farm.

0720-niqab-france1

In Europe today, even the right is left, far left.

Europe’s politicians are contaminated by a desire to redistribute, and to regulate, to keep large constituencies of non-productive voters happy.

In France, the flamboyant Nicolas Sarkozy was elected to restore law and order. You may have noticed, that his policies are an abject failure when it comes to dealing with what he himself calls racaille, riffraff, rabble or low-class scum:  the Muslim “youths” who burn an average of a 100 cars a day.

The question we need to ask is why? What makes Europe’s politicians so impotent and ineffective against an aggressive, militant Moslem proletariat ?

Much of the problem lies in their own way of thinking, fostered by years of Socialist/Marxist indoctrination:  there is hardly anyone among Europe’s politicians who would   trust citizens with weapons or self-defense, and Sarkozy is not only one of them, he goes even further:

Disarm Yourself for Self Defense

sarkoterreurA quote from French Conservative presidential frontrunner Nicolas Sarkozy on RTL radio, 22 September 2006

I would like to say one thing, in what is my conception of the Republic, security is the responsibility of the State, I am against militias, I am against the private ownership of firearms, and I’m trying to make you think about that. If you are assaulted by an armed burglar, he’ll use his weapon more effectively than you anyway so you’re risking your life. If the criminal is not armed and you are and you shoot, your life will be ruined, because killing someone over a theft is not in line with the republican values that are mine. The private ownership of firearms is dangerous. I understand your exasperation for having been burglarized two times, I understand the fear that your wife and daughter may have but the answer is in the efficiency of the police and the efficiency of the judiciary process, the answer is not in having guns at home.

What Europeans don’t understand

Unfortunately, the police and judiciary in France are inefficient. Moreover, through disastrous immigration, multicultural and political correctness policies and programmes, the French government is reverting its public to a ‘state of nature’. And in a state of nature, where struggle is endemic, not owning a gun can be a veritable death sentence.

What the framers of the US constitution DID understand very well was that all freedoms must be continually fought for by those that desire them. That is why the second amendment (the right to own guns) is second only to the first amendment (the right to free speech). Had the framers known it would become such a problem hundreds of years later they might have reconsidered it and put it first instead of second.

What did Hitler do before he exterminated the Jews? He took away their guns. Only a true idiot/totalitarian wannabe with no regard for the facts can honestly advocate that any government should prevent law abiding citizens from carrying guns. America has, in the past, always had higher crime rates than Europe. In the 19th Century, when neither New York or London had any gun control laws New York still had more murders than London. America, to the extent that it is violent it is violent because it has violent people. Guns are inanimate objects with no moral bearing. They are not a cause of violence anymore than bats or bottles or rocks or cars or knives or metal pipes are. There are countries with higher gun ownership rates than the that US have less violence(Switzerland, Israel, Canada). Britain saw its murder and crime rates INCREASE after its gun bans were passed. Sarkozy, and his Euro-dhimmi colleagues, are advocating  policies which are those of a totalitarian state.

If you thought the US was protected from this madness, you are wrong:

The Audacity of Self-defense

* by Debra J. Saunders

Revisiting the racist “wise Latina” Sonia Sotomayor

The most interesting exchange thus far occurred when Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., asked Sotomayor about a 2004 opinion, which she signed, that found that “the right to possess a gun is clearly not a fundamental right.”

Coburn wondered how courts cannot see the explicitly stated Second Amendment “right to keep and bear arms” as fundamental, yet can hold as fundamental the unexpressed right to privacy. Sotomayor answered: “Is there a constitutional right to self-defense? And I can’t think of one. I could be wrong, but I can’t think of one.”

For eight years, Democrats attacked the Bush administration for giving short shrift to personal liberties. As Obama wrote in “Audacity,” the Bush picks “showed a pattern of hostility toward civil rights, privacy and checks on executive power.”

Now the Obama pick for the Supreme Courtcan’t think of a right to defend yourself.

That is arguably extraordinary.
