Seven Muslim protesters accused of screaming insults at soldiers during an Iraq homecoming parade refused to stand for a judge yesterday.

The men are alleged to have shouted ‘murderers’, ‘rapists’, ‘terrorists’ and ‘baby killers’ while waving placards at the 2nd Battalion Royal Anglian Regiment marching through Luton.

At the town’s magistrates’ court, they denied using threatening, abusive, insulting words and behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm and distress to others.

The defendants were given an extra 20 minutes on top of their lunch break to go to pray at a mosque a few minutes’ walk away.

A separate ‘quiet’ room has been set aside for their regular prayer intervals for the rest of the week. The seven accused men are Munin Abdul, 28, Jalal Ahmed, 21, Jabair Ahmed, 19, Yousaf Bashir, 29, Shajjadar Choudhury, 31, Ziaur Rahman, 32, and white Muslim Ibrahim Anderson, 32, all from Luton.

They are alleged to have chanted: ‘British army murderers’, ‘British soldiers burn in hell’ and ‘Baby killers shame on you’.

Al-Qaida double-agent killed CIA officers

Officials: Perpetrator of Afghan attack was supposed to infiltrate al-Qaida

The suicide bombing on a CIA base in Afghanistan last week was carried out by a Jordanian doctor who was an al-Qaida double agent, Western intelligence officials told NBC News.

Initial reports said that the attack, which killed seven CIA officers, was carried out by a member of the Afghan National Army.

According to Western intelligence officials, the perpetrator was Humam Khalil Abu-Mulal al-Balawi, 36, an al-Qaida sympathizer from the town of Zarqa, which is also the hometown of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the Jordanian militant Islamist responsible for several devastating attacks in Iraq.

As SusanÂ notes below, a bipartisan group of lawmakers is urging the Obama White House not to go forward with plans to send a number of Yemeni terrorists now being held in the Guantanamo Bay detention facility back to their home country. But the Obama White House insists it will continue to send those Gitmo inmates to Yemen — a country now recognized as a hotbed of terrorism so dangerous that the U.S. has decided to close its embassy there.

On Fox News Sunday, top White House counterterrorism adviser John Brennan said the administration “absolutely” intends to keep sending Guantanamo prisoners to Yemen.

Israel’s hardline Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman has told Israeli ambassadors to stop “grovelling” and defend their national honour.

He told a shocked audience of some 150 envoys in Jerusalem to “stop turning the other cheek” whenever Israel was insulted, Israeli media report.

The envoys were reportedly given no right of reply at the conference.

“We received a monologue without being able to hold a discussion,” one unnamed ambassador told Haaretz newspaper.

Israel’s top diplomat, who worked as a nightclub bouncer in his youth in the USSR, is known for his abrasive style. He famously once said that Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak could “go to hell”.

“I have seen that some ambassadors identify themselves with the other side to such an extent that they are all the time trying to justify and explain,” he told the ambassadors meeting at the foreign ministry, according to several reports of the event.

“Terms like ‘national honour’ have value in the Middle East,” he was reported to have said.

“There must not be an attitude of obsequiousness and self-deprecation, and the need to always justify the other side. This is the wrong approach.

“We will not turn the other cheek. There will be a response to everything,” the reports quoted him as saying.

In an editorial, the liberal Haaretz condemned Mr Lieberman’s “shamefully bullying approach” and called for him to be sacked.

The security police blew up a suspected bomb factory in MalmÃ¶ New Year’s Eve. Two men were arrested. According to the charges, the bomb was to be used for an attack against Copenhagen Airport.

The raid was conducted before midnight Wednesday. The police got tips that bombs were being prepared in an apartment on Smedjekullsgatan in MalmÃ¶.

Auburn Council, in Sydney’s west, approved yet another giant mosque (there is already one monstrosity called Gallipoli Mosque in Auburn) to be built on a site occupied by a historical Art Deco fire station on Harrow Road.

And so it comes as no surprise that the non-Muslim residents are trying to stop the construction as they they believe it will become a headquarters for the strict Wahhabi sect of Islam in Sydney. (reference)

Additionally the Muslim buyers of the property do not care that the Fire Station, listed as a Australian heritage building, will be destroyed in the process.

The purpose of the Omar Mosque leadership in acquiring the property was to demolish the Old Auburn Fire Station building, consolidate the site with their three other adjacent properties and build over the new site a grand mosque, capable of accommodating a thousand worshippers at a time.
