By focusing attention on Israel and its (imaginary) crimes, Europeans, American admirers ignore Islamic war against Israel, global jihad.

It was a stunning moment of moral clarity. As the South Vietnamese refugees clambered onto rickety boats in the South China Sea to escape the victorious Communists, the American Left that orchestrated the US defeat through a sustained campaign of propaganda and fake calls for peace stood silent.

As Pol Pot, the “progressive” dictator tortured and murdered a third of his people in Cambodia, the leftists “peace” activists in the US and Europe who never saw a US military operation that was justified, turned a blind eye.

The silence of the likes of Susan Sontag, Jane Fonda, Noam Chomsky and their fellow travelers came to mind last week when the Western media and intellectual elites averted their gaze as Sheikh Yusuf Qaradawi, the long exiled spiritual guide of the Muslim Brotherhood spoke before a crowd of millions at Cairo’s Tahrir Square.

Qaradawi, who had been living in exile in Qatar during Hosni Mubarak’s reign, became an international jihadist superstar thanks to Qatar’s unelected potentate Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani who gave him his jihad indoctrination show on Al Jazeera. From his internationally televised soapbox, Qaradawi regularly preaches international jihad and genocide of Jewry to millions of fans worldwide.

Two important things happened during Qaradawi’s appearance in Cairo. First, his handlers refused to allow Google’s Egyptian Internet revolutionary Wael Ghonim to join the cleric on the dais. For anyone willing to notice, Qaradawi’s message in spurning Ghonim was indisputable. As far as the jihadists are concerned, Ghonim and his fellow Internet activists are the present day equivalent of Lenin’s useful idiots.

They did their job of convincing credulous Western liberals that the overthrow of Mubarak was all about sweetness and light.

And now they are no longer needed.

The second message was Qaradawi’s call to destroy Israel. With millions of adoring fans crying out “Amen,” and “Allahu Akhbar,” Qaradawi called for a Muslim conquest of Jerusalem – that is, for the destruction of Israel. As a first step, he demanded that the Egyptian military open the Egyptian border with Gaza.

During the past month, Imam Yusuf al-Qaradawi, spiritual guide to the Muslim Brotherhood, has called on Muslims to acquire nuclear weapons “to terrorize their enemies.” He also boycotted an interfaith meeting with Jews on grounds he believes they support murdering Muslims in Palestine, and he additionally said Muslims are permitted to kill Israeli women because they serve in the army.

This continues Qaradawi’s long-established support of violent jihad. But despite this record, he has been embraced as a “moderate” Muslim by his defenders in the West and the Arab world. In a September interview, former London Mayor Ken Livingstone said “the fact that Sheikh Qaradawi has been banned [from Britain] is a disgrace; he is one of the leading progressive voices in the Muslim world.” Livingstone blamed “a huge smear campaign organized by Zionists.”

Qaradawi refuses to participate in interfaith conference with Jews

The 8th Annual Doha Conference on Interfaith Dialogue is to start tomorrow, but prominent Islamic Sheikh Yusuf Qaradawi is boycotting the conference, according to Palestine Today.

The reason? Because there will be Jews there!

He participated in the first, second and third conferences because they were centered on Muslim/Christian dialogue. But he refuses to participate when Jews attend, quoting the Koran 29:46 [“The Spider”], “Do not argue with People of the Book….” [the verse goes on to make an exception of certain types of arguments, and then an exception to the exception, against those Jews who “oppress,” if I am parsing the verse correctly.]

Qaradawi said, “So why should we dialogue with the Jews, who… shed blood, and violated the sanctities, and burned farms, and destroyed homes… .. to sit with them on a single platform?”

The article does not say “Zionist Jews” but merely “Jews.”  He has met with the Neturei Karta in the past, though.

The rest of the Koranic verse makes clear that Islamic “dialogue” with other “divine” religions is limited to telling them about Islam. Which makes it more like a monologue.

Even so, credulous non-Muslims keep thinking that there is value in these fake one-way “dialogues.”

Sweden: "Canadian Man" Fails to Blow Up Plane

A man. A Canadian man. A Canadian citizen around the age of 30. Of Paki origin.

It was all a joke, you see…  no, he was framed! Or maybe he heard voices, like his profit Muhammad. In any case: nothing to do with Islam, go back to sleep, infidel! Not to worry, Islam is a religion of peace……

Those four things are all that we’re told about this suspect in this story, and yet none of them, not even that he is of Pakistani origin (although that one points us in the direction of the real answer), gives us any inkling as to why he might have wanted to set off a bomb on a plane. Unless there is some terror threat among Canadian men around the age of thirty that has been underreported for fear of inciting Canuckphobia.

We can’t push in more, he has to swallow the rest…

UPDATE: More recent reports indicate the bomb threat may have been a hoax, and an unfortunate waste of the time and resources of law enforcement. The points about the nature of the reporting, however, still hold:

A MAN accused of conspiring to launch a terror attack against an Australian army base in Sydney believed that Somalia was the place for ”true jihad”, the Supreme Court heard yesterday.

Wissam Fattal told an undercover police officer in February last year that many Muslims from Australia ”were going to fight jihad in Somalia”. The court heard that Fattal was also interested in travelling to Yemen or Afghanistan, and that he believed the life of a mujahideen was the best life.

Outwardly, anyway: Yusuf al-Qaradawi expounds the doctrine of taysir, which allows Muslims to practice a more “relaxed” version of Islam — so long as their hearts cling to the more “uptight” version.

A recent episode of the popular Arabic showal-Sharia wa al-Haya (Law and Life), which airs weekly on Al Jazeera and features renowned Muslim scholar Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, addressed the important yet little known Muslim concept of taysir (pronounced “tey-seer”).

Qaradawi, who is touted by the likes of John Esposito and CAIR as a “moderate” — even as he legitimizes suicide attacks against Israel (including by women) and death for apostates — explained that, according to fiqh al-taysir (the “jurisprudence of ease”), Islam (like Catholicism) offers Muslims dispensations, whenever needed: “For Allah desires ease for you, not hardship” (Koran 2:185; see also 5:6, 4:26-28, 2:286). He criticized the Arab nations for not fighting Zionism sufficiently, calling on them to go back to the basics of the Holy Quran and thereby “liberate” the Al Aqsa Mosque and “cleanse” Palestine.

Qaradawi also called to return to the ideals of the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood, Hassan al-Banna.

“Al-Aqsa Foundation for Endowment and Heritage”, an Arab propaganda outfit, claims that

“the Israeli authorities “failed since it started its excavations to prove Jewish presence in the holy city or that the Temple ever existed.” The foundation stressed that the “new excavations in the Old City are provocations for Muslims.” It urged Arab and Islamic states to take action to stop it.”

The foundation puts out press releases like this, warning of Israeli attempts to “Judaize” Jerusalem and to destroy the Al Aqsa Mosque and Islamic history, every day.

The only people who are denying history are the Muslims themselves, who keep saying even today that there is no evidence of any ancient Jewish presence in Jerusalem, an absurd lie that is believed by millions. Just like the lie that excavations at the Sultan’s Pool could possibly affect the foundations of a mosque that is not even close by.

If you pop into the Roots Club in Gaza, according to the Lonely Planet guidebook, you can “dine on steak au poivre and chicken cordon bleu”.

The restaurant’s website in Arabic gives a window into middle class dining and the lifestyle of Hamas officials in Gaza. And here it is in English, for all the journalists, UN types and NGO staff who regularly frequent this and other nice Gaza restaurants (but don’t tell their readers about them).

In case anyone doubts the authenticity of this video, I just called the club in Gaza City and had a nice chat with the manager who proudly confirmed business is booming and many Palestinians and international guests are dining there….(National Post)

Despite Palestinian Violence, Israel Ensures Freedom of Worship

Despite bombarding Jews on their high holidays with rocks and  incitement from Islamic clerics to riot,  Israel allows muslims to  defile the temple mount and to blast the hateful Friday kuthbas over powerful loudspeakers.  The surrounding Arab countries, Jordan, Egypt and Syria never stop to incite the Arabs to terrorize the Jews and threaten a new intifadah. Even Jordan’s plucky little king is doing his very best to display his Jew-hating obsession.

EGYPT: Sheikh Yusuf al Qaradawi calls for ‘Friday of anger’ against Al Aqsa violations

The head of the International Union for Muslim Scholars, Yusuf Al Qaradawi, is urging Egyptians to turn this Friday into a nationwide day of anger against the “Israeli practices at the Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem.”

The outspoken cleric is famous for once calling Jews a profligate, cunning and arrogant band of people. He has long been in support of Palestinian suicide bombers and previously said that the Holocaust was God’s punishment to Jews for their corruption.

Qaradawi wasn’t the only cleric to criticize Arab regimes for their “passiveness” against “Israeli violations.” A number of religious scholars said that the Arab and Muslim world should rush to defend the sacred Aqsa from repeated “Zionist assaults.”

Islamic Jihad’s website Saraya.ps has an article on the ninth anniversary of the beginning of the second Intifada. The exact words the article uses are “the ninth anniversary of the glorious Al-Aqsa Intifada in Palestine.”

Think about this for a minute. The intifada resulted in the deaths of over 5000 Palestinian Arabs. As a direct result of the uprising, Israel built a wall to protect her citizens and that made the lives of Palestinian Arabs more difficult. The political goals of moderate Palestinian Arabs were set back by years. Yasir Arafat turned from a respected international figure into a joke, hiding terrorists in his compound.     But Omeish, who is running for the Democratic nomination in the 35th district, covering an area from Vienna west to Monument and Leehigh, is no ordinary candidate. He’s a surgeon with a classic immigrant success story, having arrived in this country as a young boy who spoke no English, yet rose up through the Fairfax school system to attend Georgetown University.
