BANNED Muslim hate preacher Anjem Choudary has sparked outrage after he was flown to Ireland to spout his bigoted views to 250 university students.
Choudary’s Islam4UK group and its parent organisation al-Muhajiroun were banned last month by Home Secretary Alan Johnson under legislation to outlaw the glorification of terrorism.
However, the student law society of University College Dublin paid for him to fly over to be a guest speaker at a debate with the motion that women’s rights should trump religious doctrine. The society also paid for his hotel.

MUSLIMS in Britain must do more to inform police of potential terrorists, one of the country’s top officers will warn tonight. Sir Norman Bettison, Chief Constable of West Yorkshire Police, is to call for greater help from Islamic communities to identify suspects at home.
He says: “I’m looking for the community to work much more closely with the police in identifying young people they have concerns about in terms of people they’re mixing with, the sort of websites they’re going on and the material they’re reading.

Up until September 2009, the total cost of the defence was $10.117 million.
In comparison, Tasmania’s entire legal aid budget, not including spending on community legal centres, was $11.4 million during the 2008/09 financial year.
The total federal legal aid budget last financial year sat at $527 million.
Tasmanian Liberal senator Guy Barnett revealed the information when questioning officials from the Human Rights Commission during an estimates hearing of the Senate’s legal and constitutional affairs committee on Monday.
‘Legal Aid New South Wales has advised the department that as at 30 September 2009 it has incurred costs of $10.117 million in the provision of legal assistance to the co-accused in this matter,’ the answer said.
Later, Senator Barnett voiced concerns about ‘the thousands’ of Australians not able to access legal aid.
‘I think most Australians would be shocked to realise that over $10 million in taxpayers’ funds has been spent defending the rights of nine terrorists,’ Senator Barnett told AAP.
The men were arrested at the height of tensions over warnings of a domestic terrorist attack, which had provoked emergency sittings of the parliament to pass tougher counter-terrorism laws.
At the time, then prime minister John Howard had warned of an imminent attack with fears centred on Melbourne.
Police initially arrested 21 people in a series of early morning raids in early November 2005.
The money for the legal defence came from a budget section inside the Attorney-General’s Department known as the Expensive Commonwealth Criminal Cases Fund.
The dedicated fund was established for commonwealth criminal law cases to ensure that the cost of the trials did not impact on the level of funding available for other matters including family law.

A GROUP of asylum seekers has been moved to Melbourne without visas as Christmas Island nears breaking point.
And 94 asylum seekers and crew picked up off Ashmore Reef last Thursday are being held aboard a navy ship until at least Wednesday, while authorities try to free up beds.
As another unauthorised boat was intercepted yesterday, authorities confirmed 20 “vulnerable” asylum seekers were removed from Christmas Island on Friday.
Eight went to the Melbourne Immigration Transit Centre at Broadmeadows and the remaining 12 to Brisbane. They included five unaccompanied minors and five family groups.
“No determination has been made on their cases as yet,” an Immigration Department spokesman said. “They’ve been chosen for transfer because they are vulnerable people.”
The disused warehouse in the northern port was being used by about 100 migrants, mostly from Afghanistan.
The building was rented by an activist group, which turned it into a camp in defiance of a ban on giving shelter to illegal immigrants in the town. Â Calais attracts migrants aiming to get into the UK. In September, a makeshift camp known as “the jungle” was closed.
The move was criticised by human rights groups, who argued that many migrants should be treated like refugees. Â BBC

There was a reason why Obama refused to show the world the pictures that were taken in the torture camps of Iraq and Afghanistan – rape. In the Washington Post report, one detainee, Kasim Hilas, describes the rape of an Iraqi boy by a man in uniform, whose name has been blacked-out of the statement, but who appears to be a translator working for the army.
Crosses, Bibles banned from hospital chapel/WND
Administrators at a hospital in Australia have thrown the crosses, crucifixes and Bibles out of their chapel to comply with new rules that followed the construction of a special prayer room for Muslims.
According to a report in the Mosman Daily, the change has been made at the Royal North Shore Hospital in St. Leonards.
The move, according to senior members of the hospital staff quoted by the newspaper, was made to avoid offending Muslims or Hindus who may be at the hospital. Continued>>
