BUFFALO — Lawyers for the founder of an Islam-oriented television station who is accused of beheading his wife said Friday that the case has nothing to do with race or religion, despite public perception.

Speaking after a hearing in Erie County Court where they are pursuing a psychiatric defense, attorneys for Muzzammil “Mo” Hassan said he isn’t even a practicing Muslim and that public speculation has been unfair.

The Pakistan-born Hassan, 45, is charged with second-degree murder in the February 2009 death of Aasiya Hassan, 37, in the Orchard Park studio of Bridges TV, founded by the couple to improve the image of Muslims in a post-9/11 world.

Hassan had been served with divorce papers a week earlier.

A trial date draws closer for accused wife-chopper Muzzammil Hassan:

Lawyers for the founder of an Islam-oriented television station who is accused of beheading his wife say it’s ridiculous to think religion has anything to do with the case …

But it obviously has something to do with his defence:

Hassan’s attorney Julie Atti Rogers said, “The reality is that based on his name, based on the color of his skin, and based on the fear and the panic of all Americans of terrorists and Muslims, this man’s got a difficult time as it is.”

Hey, at least he’s still got his head. Hassan is evidently aiming for a total victimhood strategy:

So he should have been happy when she filed for divorce. Instead, he cut her head off. Hassan’s trial is expected to begin in September.

1. Circumcision for males is Waajib (compulsory) according to Imaam Abu
Hanifa. If circumcision will hinder a person from accepting Islam then
accepting Islam should be given preference over circumcision.
2. It is Mustahabb (commendable) for females to circumcise. It is narrated
in an authentic Hadith quoted from Abu Dawood Shareef that during the
Prophet (Sallallaahu ?layhi Wasallam)’s time there was a woman in Madinah
who used to perform circumsicion for women (Fathul Bari vol. 16 p. 353)

Roads were blanketed in ice so thick it looked like snow.

Cars were forced to a halt in the city centre.

Emergency services were in meltdown.

Reports of damage started flooding in from across the city, including caved-in roofs. Early reports were that Etihad Stadium’s roof had partially collapsed.

Highpoint shopping centre was evacuated.

A car was reportedly stuck under a bridge on Kensington Rd, Ascot Vale. The West Gate Freeway on-off ramps were in gridlock.

Most train and tram services were cut off.

At Flemington racecourse there were reports that a champion horse had been spooked by the storm and broken its neck. The Super Saturday meeting was abandoned.

The 3pm AFL NAB Cup game between Brisbane and Geelong at Visy Park was cancelled.

Pakistan: A Funny thing happened on the way to martyrdom

Some suicide bombers just hate getting wet while on their way to a mission.

MUZAFFARGARH: An unidentified person, possibly a suicide bomber, was killed in a blast at a grocery shop, about seven kilometres from the Chowk Sarwar Shaheed town on Thursday. Chowk Sarwar Shaheed police saidthe suspected bomber might have stayed inside the shop to avoid the rain when the explosives he was carrying might have gone off accidentally. Witnesses said the blast destroyed the shop completely. Police and bomb disposal squad reached the site and started an investigation. Meanwhile, security has been stepped up at sensitive installations.

The Muslim Council of Britain hosted a special closed-meeting to discuss the growing spate of attacks in all its forms against British Muslims on March 3rd at the House of Commons.

(Which “attacks” precisely? There are plenty of attacks from Mohammedans against Brits, and few if any attacks on the soldiers of allah/ed)

The event entitled “Tackling Islamophobia: Reducing Street Violence Against British Muslims” brought together distinguished Parliamentarians, academics, journalists, police, public servants, and community representatives who all endorsed calls for the establishment of an All-Party Parliamentary Committee on Islamophobia with a view to holding a parliamentary inquiry on Islamophobia in the UK.

Translation: “distinguished Parliamentarians, (commie hacks) academics,  (wakademic loons) journalists, (far left scribblers) police, (Mohammedan ghetto protectors who are paid to prevent law-enforcement on fellow Mohammedans…) public servants, (a dime a dozen) and community representatives”- (run of the mill headbangers….)

The meeting took contributions from experts and responses from parliamentarians and was concluded with a Q&A session with the audience who comprised of individuals from over 80 organisations.
