The man accused of murdering a Muslim shopkeeper who posted a “Happy Easter” message on Facebook said it was because he “disrespected” Islam.
In modern Europe, a friendly Easter message can get you killed:
The man accused of murdering a Muslim shopkeeper who posted a “Happy Easter” message on Facebook said it was because he “disrespected” Islam.
Tanveer Ahmed, 32, said in a statement that he killed Asad Shah, 40, claiming: “if I had not done this others would”.
He’s right about that.
Mr Shah, 40, was found injured outside Shah’s Newsagents and Convenience Store in Shawlands, Glasgow, last month.
Mr Shah had posted a Facebook message earlier that day wishing all Christians a happy Easter. The message said: “Good Friday and a very happy Easter, especially to my beloved Christian nation.”
And for that he was murdered. Ahmed’s statement to the court reveals his devotion to Islam, and his faith-based commitment to slaughtering those who would commit the ultimate sin of posting happy Easter messages on Facebook:
It is mentioned in the Quran that there is no doubt in this book no one has the right to disrespect the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him and no one has the right to disrespect the Prophet of Islam Muhammad Peace be upon him.
If I had not done this others would and there would have been more killing and violence in the world.
The statement concludes:
I wish to make it clear that the incident was nothing at all to do with Christianity or any other religious beliefs.
Well, obviously.
Hypocrisy is the hallmark of all criminals everywhere.
