Canuckistan: Imam claims that “Islam is the most feminist religion”

Imam Syed Soharwardy of Calgary, who has referenced Islam as the “most feminist religion,” also states:

 Yes, there are people, there are people of clergy also, they misinterpret, they definitely have different mindset, but they are very, very small minority.

Unless one is deaf, dumb and blind to world news and events, history, current Islamic jurisprudence, it is clear that this “very, very small minority” is a figment of Soharwardy’s imagination.

Some other odd statements made by Soharwardy:

“Sharia cannot be customized for specific countries. These universal, divine laws are for all people of all countries for all times.”

“I am one of the founding members of the Islamic Institute of Civil Justice. The mandate of the institute is to resolve disputes within existing Canadian laws by using the principles of conflict resolution from Islamic Law, or sharia.”

“Presently, what Israeli forces are doing to Palestinians is worse than the Holocaust of World War II.”

Perhaps  Soharwardy’s crowning statement was that “Muslims are going through that situation right now that the Jews faced before the Holocaust.” That bizarre statement is about as true and confusing as “Islam is the most feminist religion” that a “very, very small minority” misinterprets.

Imam Syed Soharwardy of Calgary, the head of the Calgary-based Islamic Supreme Council of Canada and the founder of Muslims Against Terrorism, is often invited by CBC as a guest expert to discuss issues related to terrorism and radicalization. He is introduced as a moderate voice in the Muslim community who “has worked to prevent the radicalization of youth in Canada.”

They all seem to work “to prevent the radicalization of (Muslim) youth”. Too strange that it is us infidels who end up paying for it, while these “deradicalisation experts”  have nothing to show for their efforts.

On Sunday, April 2, 2017, Soharwardy delivered a speech at Christ Church Scraborough Village in Toronto. The following are excerpts from Soharwardy’s speech entitled “Interfaith Dialogue – Understanding Islam and Muslims”:

Prophet Mohammad’s wife, she used to teach male companions after the prophet passed away… Prophet’s grandson’s daughter, Nafisa bint Al-Hassan, she used to teach in the mosque male people and female about the religion of Islam… Women leadership in Islam has been from the start. In the holy Quran the relationship between husband and wife is described so beautifully that I don’t think you’d find such a description in any scripture… The is no gender-based superiority in Islam. Only superiority in Islam is based on piety…

…. In Saudi Arabia women cannot drive… During the time of prophet Mohammad… there were women who used to ride camels. If the woman could ride camels at that time today the camel is our cars… If I would say that Islam is the most feminist religion it’s not untrue. Yes, there are people, there are people of clergy also, they misinterpret, they definitely have different mindset, but they are very, very small minority.
