Hi – I received the following link from an acquaintance. Ronbo at the Freedom Fighter’s Journal has posted a suicide note. I have written to him but of course have not received a reply. I have written to other bloggers in an attempt to determine if anyone knows more about him in an effort to try and find him before he commits suicide. The police have been contacted in an attempt to look for him. I suspect that he has already committed suicide as the post was made on the 17th of February. If you know anything about him that you think might help in anyway please contact me.

MUSLIM university students want lectures to be rescheduled to fit in with prayer timetables and separate male and female eating and recreational areas established on Australian campuses.

International Muslim students, predominantly from Saudi Arabia, have asked universities in Melbourne to change class times so they can attend congregational prayers. They also want a female-only area for Muslim students to eat and relax.

But at least one institution has rejected their demands, arguing that the university is secular and it does not want to set a precedent for requests granted in the name of religious beliefs.

La Trobe University International chief officer John Molony said several students had approached the Bundoora institution about rearranging class times to fit in with daily prayers.

Mr Molony said the university was attempting to “meet the needs” of an increasing number of Muslim international students, including doubling the size of the prayer room on campus.

La Trobe University International College director Martin Van Run said that although it was involved in discussions with the Muslim students who had made the requests, the university was not planning to change any timetables.

“That would seriously inconvenience other people at the college and it is not institutionally viable,” he told The Australian. “We are a secular institution … and we need to have a structured timetable.”

Mr Van Run said that Saudi students were fully aware that the university was secular before coming to study there. “They know well in advance the class times,” he said.

A spokesman for RMIT University would neither confirm nor deny reports that Muslim students had requested timetable changes.

One university source told The Australian that the requests by Muslim international students for timetable changes included a petition.

“Some of the students would prefer that lecture times were organised so it would be easy for them to attend prayers,” he said. “But it wouldn’t be a good precedent to set.”

Islamic leaders yesterday backed the push by Muslim students to have their lectures arranged to accommodate prayer sessions, but said such a move would be essential only for congregational Friday prayers.

Female Muslim leader Aziza Abdel-Halim said yesterday it was a religious duty for those who followed Islam to preach with their fellow believers on Fridays.

But the former senior member of John Howard’s Muslim reference board said there was nothing in Islam that indicated men and women be segregated when it came to educational activities.

“There’s nothing in Islam that says there should be complete segregation, especially in educational institutions,” said Sister Abdel-Halim.

She said afternoon prayers for Muslims – Zhohor, at 1.10pm, and Asr, at 4.50pm – could be performed until 10 minutes before the following daily prayer, so it was more appropriate to alter prayer times than lecture schedules.

“It’s reasonable to ask for the lectures to be shifted around on Friday,” Sister Abdel-Halim said. “But if it’s going to cause havoc with the timetable, I don’t think it’s really feasible to ask forevery single prayer to be catered for.”

After Mr Cook’s allegations in February last year, Dr Alyusuf went on BBC2’s Newsnight and told presenter Jeremy Paxman that she was aware of the books but refused to withdraw them because they had “good chapters that can be used by the teachers”.
Mr Cook told the hearing: “Dr Alyusuf simply lied about her knowledge of the contents of the books and tried to pretend that the books were not taught in the school. She failed to repudiate the racist views expressed in the books.

“The truth is she cannot go against the Saudi ministry of education. She is their puppet.”

Mr Cook said the Ofsted inspection in March 2006 failed to identify major issues including parental complaints, unqualified teachers and indiscipline.
He added: “The Ofsted report was very inadequate. This is partly due to what the Academy did not tell the inspectors and partly due to, at best, incompetence by Ofsted.”
He says he was sacked on trumpedup grounds in 2006 after he blew the whistle on the school for covering up cheating by pupils in a GCSE exam.

“In any normal workplace, an employee would not be sacked for whistle-blowing or indeed treated as a second-class citizen for not being Saudi Arabian,” he said.

“However, as the head of human resources put it, ‘This is not England. It is Saudi Arabia’.”

He said he had to teach 28 lessons a week when Saudi colleagues had between three and 12. He said that when he realised the school was not going to carry out a proper inquiry into the alleged GCSE cheating, he took his complaints to exam board Edexcel.
The school claimed Mr Cook failed to observe proper procedure and fired him for gross misconduct.

An undercover survey of more than 100 mosques and Islamic schools in America has exposed widespread radicalism, including the alarming finding that 3 in 4 Islamic centers are hotbeds of anti-Western extremism, WND has learned.

The Mapping Sharia in America Project, sponsored by the Washington-based Center for Security Policy, has trained former counterintelligence and counterterrorism agents from the FBI, CIA and U.S. military, who are skilled in Arabic and Urdu, to conduct undercover reconnaissance at some 2,300 mosques and Islamic centers and schools across the country.

“So far of 100 mapped, 75 should be on a watchlist,” an official familiar with the project said.

Many of the Islamic centers are operating under the auspices of the Saudi Arabian government and U.S. front groups for the radical Muslim Brotherhood based in Egypt.

Frank Gaffney, a former Pentagon official who runs the Center for Security Policy, says the results of the survey have not yet been published. But he confirmed that “the vast majority” are inciting insurrection and jihad through sermons by Saudi-trained imams and anti-Western literature, videos and textbooks.

“We have too many mosques in this country,” said Rep. Pete King, R-N.Y. “There are too many people who are sympathetic to radical Islam. We should be looking at them more carefully.”

For years now I have pointed out the shallowness and flimsiness of condemnations of terror by American Islamic groups, and noted that American mosques and schools have no programs to teach against the jihad ideology and Islamic supremacism, as one might have expected them to institute after 9/11 if they really stood where they claimed they stood.

And in 1999, the Naqshbandi Sufi Sheikh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani testified before a State Department open forum that eighty percent of American mosques had extremist leadership. Italy: Far-right candidate of Moroccan origin says there are too many mosques

Padova, 22 Feb. (AKI) – The first Moroccan-born member of Italy’s far-right Northern League party has complained that there are too many mosques in Italy.

Zakaria Najib is an Italian citizen who came to Italy when he was 20 years old. Now aged 50, he lives in the province of Padua in northern Italy.

He is now planning to run in Italy’s general elections in April as a candidate for the Northern League, an anti-immigrant party that campaigns for autonomy for Italy’s wealthy north.

Although a member of the Cadoneghe city council in the province of Padua between 1999 and 2003, two months ago he told a local newspaper that he had asked president Giorgio Napoletano to take away his Italian citizenship so he could be Moroccan again.

He said being a foreigner in Italy was better because they were “given homes and work, while I only have taxes and difficulties in paying the bills at the end of every month”.

He criticised in particular the policies of leftist city administrations for helping immigrants and in particular Muslim immigrants.

“In a nearby city council, 30,000 euros were given to restructure a mosque,” Najib told AKI.

“Now they want to give another 800,000 euros to construct another bigger mosque a few kilometres away. It is time to say enough. I am not against mosques but here we really have too many.”

Najib admitted that he was no longer a practising Muslim and only considered himself culturally linked to Islam having been born in North Africa.

“I believe that everyone has the right to have their own beliefs but they must pay for it themselves,” he said.

“It is not fair that taxpayers’ money is being used to build mosques. On top of that I don’t like the imams that I have seen inside the mosques and I think these are places that have to be controlled.”

Najib has said that he is available to run as a candidate for a Senate seat for the Northern League. Party sources in Padua say that the decision depends on the federal and provincial councils of the party.

Despite that he says if elected, his first proposal would be to deal with what he called the excessive presence of mosques in the northern Italian region of Veneto.

“He has been left in a room without adequate facilities to meet the needs of a disabled person. This included no heads on taps so he did not have access to cold water and didn’t have his diabetic pack.”

BANGKOK, Thailand: An exiled Muslim rebel leader warned Thailand’s new government that a violent Islamic insurgency in the south could worsen if the region is denied sovereignty, renewing debate over a possible referendum on autonomy.

The comments from Lukman B. Lima, who heads the Pattani United Liberation Organization from exile in Sweden, were the first from the Muslim rebel movement since Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej and his interior minister made conflicting remarks on the issue earlier this month.

“The worst-case scenario can still be avoided, but only if Mr. Samak and the military forces allow the people of Pattani to determine their own future,” Lukman said in an e-mailed statement received by The Associated Press on Friday.

“If, in a referendum sanctioned by Bangkok, Pattani chooses independence, there will be one less border in the world marked by endemic conflict,” he said.

Thailand annexed the independent sultanate of Pattani in the early 20th century, and the mostly Muslim region is now divided into three provinces — Pattani, Narathiwat and Yala. Residents have long complained of being treated as second-class citizens in the predominantly Buddhist country. Past governments have failed to quell the insurgency despite the presence of 40,000 troops and police officers in the region.

Lukman’s organization, known by the acronym PULO, is one of several groups involved in a century-old struggle for independence in the south. More than 2,900 people have died since violence flared in 2004. Drive-by shootings and small-scale bombings occur almost daily.

It was not clear to what extent Lukman’s comments reflected the views of the other shadowy groups involved in the insurgency. PULO is the only rebel organization to comment on the fighting, and its leaders have been in self-imposed exile in Sweden for several years.

Nimukta Waba, a Muslim lawmaker from Pattani province, said Friday he did not believe Lukman knew what people in the region wanted.

“The local people are only demanding justice, fair treatment and equal rights,” said Nimukta from the Puea Pandin Party — a member of the government’s ruling coalition. “I think at least 90 percent of people here do not want autonomy. It would be useless to hold a referendum.”

Col. Akara Thiprote, the regional army spokesman, noted 75 percent of voters in the south cast ballots at the Dec. 23 general election.

Interior Minister Chalerm Yoobambrung said this month the new government would consider granting partial autonomy to the region. Samak responded it would be dangerous to grant self-rule to the south — apparently overruling Chalerm, who quickly retracted his comments, saying he did not want the issue to “create conflict and start an argument.”

A former Muslim military chaplain assigned to Guantanamo Bay has claimed in an interview that none of the detainees at the U.S. prison camp can be classified as terrorists.

“It’s safe to say there weren’t any prisoners who could be definitely connected to hardcore terrorism,” ex-U.S. Army Capt. James “Yousef” Yee said in a recent interview conducted in the U.K. with BBC radio.

The Pentagon last week announced it would seek the death penalty against at least six al-Qaida terrorist suspects currently held at Gitmo. It charges that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, Mohammed al-Qahtani, Ramzi Binalshibh, Ali Abd al-Aziz Ali, Mustafa Ahmad al-Hawsawi and Waleed bin Attash conspired to murder almost 3,000 people in the 9/11 attacks.

Several other Gitmo detainees have been linked to al-Qaida in addition to the six, who face a military tribunal at a specially constructed court at the base in Cuba.
