The Daily Mail’s shock article revealing that Muslim police officers are covering up and blocking the investigations into “honour killings” amongst Muslim families in Britain, has been pulled off that newspaper’s web site in an unusual case of self censorship.

Islamist extremists have infiltrated Government and key public utilities to pass sensitive information to terrorists, the security services have warned.
Counter-terrorism officials say “insiders” or their associates are almost certainly working “undetected” in sensitive posts and are actively supporting the activities of extremists.
In some cases, lifelong relationships between friends or relatives are being exploited to obtain crucial information from those in sensitive posts.
The development is detailed in intelligence reports circulated to the Home Office, police and Whitehall officials.
The London Underground, Gatwick airport and BT are cited as examples of organisations which have been targeted by individuals linked to terrorists.
Officials say the idea of “penetrating the enemy is pervasive” for Islamic extremists.
It is understood a number of suspected jihadists working in Government departments and the public services are being monitored by the security services.
Details of the threat emerged months after the Daily Mail revealed fears that Scotland Yard has been infiltrated by individuals linked to extremist groups including Al Qaeda.
Some are even believed to have attended terror training camps in Pakistan or Afghanistan.
Fanatics who infiltrate the Government or the “Critical National Infrastructure” – vital utilities such as water, electricity, transport and communications – have a number of objectives.
These include trying to gain information on what the law enforcement agencies know about the activities of fellow Islamist extremists and how to evade the attention of police and the security services.

This involves getting access to premises or individuals “with the immediate purpose” of mounting an attack or obtaining sensitive information to facilitate a later atrocity.
The extremists might also seek information which is of “indirect use” to the planning of a terrorist attack – such as getting access to banking information to raise money through fraud, gaining insider knowledge about airport security and surveillance measures on the London Underground.
Security sources say there is evidence that UK-based terrorists have discussed the possibility of attacking national infrastructure targets with the help of a “sympathetic insider”.
MI5 has warned in the past that suspects with “strong links” to Osama Bin Laden have tried to join the British security services and, in January last year, exiled radical Omar Bakri claimed that Islamic extremists were infiltrating the police and other public sector organisations.
College teachers must be “vigilant” in tackling the threat posed by violent extremists who attempt to recruit teenage students to terrorism, ministers said yesterday.
Al Qaeda supporters seek to “groom” impressionable young people and staff should be prepared to tell the police if they have concerns, draft Government guidance said.

In a stunning turn of events, a high-level Muslim military aide blamed for costing an intelligence contractor his job will step down from his own Pentagon post, WND has learned.
Meanwhile, his rival, Maj. Stephen Coughlin, a leading authority on Islamic war doctrine, may stay in the Pentagon, moving from the office of the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to the office of the secretary of defense. However, sources say a former U.S. ambassador to Turkey is trying to block his new contract.
The top Pentagon aide, Egyptian-born Hesham H. Islam, came under a cloud of suspicion after reports raised doubt about his resume and contacts he had made with radical Muslims. He is expected to leave the government next month, officials say.
Islam and Coughlin recently quarreled over intelligence briefings Coughlin presented showing a close connection between the religion of Islam and terrorism. Coughlin’s contract with the Joint Chiefs, which ends in March, was not renewed.
But as a result of the ensuing firestorm that played out in the conservative press – led by Washington Times Pentagon reporter Bill Gertz – Islam was put under a microscope, and questions were raised regarding his background.

For example, Claudia Rosett of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies wrote a column challenging key claims in Islam’s official biography. Within days, a Defense Department profile of Islam was removed from the department’s website.
A Pentagon spokesman said it was “taken down in an attempt to reduce the rhetoric and the emotion surrounding this issue while we try to determine the facts.”

Haniyeh
Gaza City, 11 Feb.(AKI) – Senior Hamas officials, including deposed Palestinian prime minister Ismail Haniyeh, have gone into hiding after alleged assassination threats by Israeli forces.
According to sources close to the Islamist movement, reported in the Arab daily, al-Quds al-Arabi, Haniyeh is the first target on a list prepared by Israeli security forces because of continuing Qassam rocket attacks against Israeli cities.
The Arab daily said that only Haniyeh’s top aides and guards knew of his whereabouts.
Haniyeh was a former prime minister in the Palestinian Authority but was sacked by president Mahmoud Abbas from the rival faction in June 2007.
In an interview published on 8 February with Adnkronos International (AKI) Haniyeh accused Europe of ignoring what he called Israeli “massacres”, and said he was in favour of calling early elections in the Palestinian Territories.
In March 2004, Hamas leader Abdelaziz al-Rantisi and Hamas founder Sheikh Ahmed Yassin were assassinated by Israeli Air Forces.
Meanwhile on Sunday, over 3,000 Palestinians were deported to the Gaza Strip from Egypt, following recent breaches in the border when thousands of Palestinians stormed into Egypt to buy basic goods.
On Saturday, two Israeli children in Sderot were hit by Qassam rockets reportedly launched from the Gaza Strip by Palestinian militants.
The children, who were brothers, were walking in the centre of town and one of them was reported to have been severely injured in the attack.
Several Israeli politicians have asked for a full-scale retaliation for the rocket attack.

( dpa ) – A crowd of 16,000 expatriate Turks cheered Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan at a vast indoor auditorium in Germany on Sunday as he told them to resist assimilation into the West.
The political rally by Germany’s biggest ethnic minority upset German politicians, who objected to a major public event on German soil being advertised on posters in Turkish only.
Erdogan indirectly addressed those concerns, saying it was right for Turkish immigrants to learn German and other languages so they could integrate, but wrong to abandon their Turkish heritage and assimilate.
“Assimilation is a crime against humanity,” he told the crowd. Many Turks had travelled from France, Belgium and the Netherlands to hear his hour-long address in the shiny venue, the Koelnarena.
“I can well understand that you are against assimilation,” he said. “It is important to learn German, but your Turkish language should not be neglected.”
He said ethnic Turks abroad should be more confident in standing up for their interests, and should win election as mayors and members of European national parliaments.
The prime minister called for a swift inquiry to find the causes of a fire a week ago that killed nine Turkish people in the German city of Ludwigshafen.
Erdogan was lionized by other speakers at the event, organized by the Union of European Turkish Democrats, a group that supports his moderate Islamist AKP party.
Outside, bearded members of the audience spoke politely to an elderly woman protester, Vera Villinger, who wore a scarf in German colours and claimed Islam was taking over Germany.
“I’m glad you’ve come along and spoken openly of your concerns. In itself that is exemplary,” one man told her.
The only hostility was towards a group of Kurdish protesters, who were ringed by police. The fuming Kurds roared back abuse at a passer-by they took for a Turk. He was in fact a 24-year-old German.

A WOMAN agreed to plant a bomb on a busy Sydney street in exchange for a promise of marriage from her prisoner boyfriend, a court has heard.
Jill Allison Courtney and Hassan Kalache are on trial in the NSW Supreme Court, charged with conspiring to bomb a public place and kill or maim passers-by.
Courtney occasionally whispered to Kalache during the court proceedings.
In his opening address, the prosecutor, Anthony Cook, SC, said Courtney was “very much in love” with Kalache, who used the prospect of marriage “as an incentive” for her to carry out the plot.
He said Kalache had suggested Courtney “place a bomb in a public place in Sydney and she, mainly because of her love for him, agreed … that it would be done and that she would do it”.
A search of Courtney’s home found partial recipes for bomb-making and a wig which she planned to use as a disguise, Mr Cook said.
The court heard that Kalache and Courtney had formed a relationship by July 2005 which was carried out through telephone conversations and her visits to him at Lithgow jail.
In recorded phone conversations between July 1, 2005, and March 24, 2006, they spoke in code about an event which they at different times referred to as a “mission”, a “party” and a “thing”, Mr Cook told the court.
One phone call revealed the marriage would “not take place until after [Courtney had] completed something”, Mr Cook said.

MAMDOUH Habib’s son has successfully staved off a jail sentence by arguing he was traumatised by his father’s time in Guantanamo Bay.
Mustafa Habib, 19, faced a maximum of 12 months jail and a $5000 fine following his conviction for causing public mischief last year.
Instead he was given a good behaviour bond for 18 months – with psychological counselling – after a court found he had falsely accused police of deliberating running over his foot.

Al-Qaeda in Iraq faces an “extraordinary crisis”. Last year’s mass defection of ordinary Sunnis from al-Qaeda to the US military “created panic, fear and the unwillingness to fight”. The terrorist group’s security structure suffered “total collapse”.
These are the words not of al-Qaeda’s enemies but of one of its own leaders in Anbar province — once the group’s stronghold. They were set down last summer in a 39-page letter seized during a US raid on an al-Qaeda base near Samarra in November.
The US military released extracts from that letter yesterday along with a second seized in another November raid that is almost as startling.
That second document is a bitter 16-page testament written last October by a local al-Qaeda leader near Balad, north of Baghdad. “I am Abu-Tariq, emir of the al-Layin and al-Mashahdah sector,” the author begins. He goes on to describe how his force of 600 shrank to fewer than 20.
“We were mistreated, cheated and betrayed by some of our brothers,” he says. “Those people were nothing but hypocrites, liars and traitors and were waiting for the right moment to switch sides with whoever pays them most.”Â
