Britain’s first Muslim MP to stand down after death threats

Because this is what happens when they try to do the right thing: Britain’s first Muslim MP to stand down after death threats.

Mohammed Sarwar

Moselm loyalties questioned

A Labour MP is stepping down after receiving death threats over his role in bringing three racist killers to justice.
Mohammad Sarwar, who became Britain’s first Muslim MP in 1997, said he feared the lives of his family were also in jeopardy.
He was instrumental in arranging the extradition of Imran Shahid, Zeeshan Shahid and Mohammed Faisal Mushtaq after they fled to Pakistan.
The three were jailed for life last year for the abduction and racially aggravated murder of teenager Kriss Donald, who was kidnapped, tortured and killed in Glasgow in 2004.

Mr Sarwar, 54, told the Daily Record: “Life is not the same, to be honest with you, since I brought them back. I was subjected to threats.
“I was told they wanted to punish my family and make a horrible example of my son – they would do to him what they did to Kriss Donald. I received threats to my life, to murder my sons, to murder my grandchildren.”
Mr Sarwar used his high-level connections in Pakistan to arrange the extradition of the Shahids and Mushtaq.
The trio fled to Pakistan shortly after Kriss’s murder in February 2004, and were brought back after 18 months of negotiations involving the MP and British and Pakistani authorities. The killers were the main players in a violent gang that terrorised the Pollokshields area of Glasgow.
Mr Sarwar said he recognised the risks of trying to bring them to justice but knew that “it was the right thing to do”.
The judge in the case, Lord Uist, said Kriss, 15, had been selected as a victim “only because he was white” and because he was walking in the district where the three men were seeking a victim.
Mr Sarwar, a multimillionaire businessman, was elected as MP for Glasgow Govan in 1997 and re-elected in 2001 with an increased majority.
Following electoral boundary changes he stood for Glasgow Central in 2005 and won by 8,531 votes.
His eldest son Athif, 28, is awaiting sentence after being convicted in April of an £840,000 money laundering scam. Mr Sarwar said his decision to step down had nothing to do with his son’s conviction, which is the subject of an appeal.

The MP said he wanted to spend more time with his family and concentrate on his charity work. He is involved in Pakistan-Foundation International-which helps build hospitals and schools in his native country.
He is also chairman of the UK-wide Muslim Friends of Labour organisation.
Mr Sarwar told BBC Radio Scotland he had been very proud to represent his constituents and said they had shown him great support.
But he added: “The time is now right to move on.
“I am involved in charitable work in Glasgow and Britain.
“I want to spend more time now helping those who are in desperate need of health and education.”
His political career has been marked by considerable controversy.
The former Glasgow city councillor was suspended from the Parliamentary Labour Party over allegations of bribing political opponents, and stood trial for fraud.
However, he was acquitted in March 1999 and restored to the party.
Mr Sarwar says he will stand down at the next election.

US House bars funding for UN rights council

It’s a start, let’s finish the job and stop funding the UN completely.  Considering we are far and away the largest contributor, roughly 25%, why should we be funding an anti-US, anti-Israel, pro-dictator organization….

Step by step, little by little… but better late than never:

AFP

The US House of Representatives moved to prohibit US funding of the UN Human Rights Council, derided by one member as a “poisonous talk shop,” as part of a mammoth funding bill passed early Friday.

The United States has repeatedly expressed frustration with the council over its rules, targets for monitoring — including US ally Israel — and the way it conducts business.

The amendment, to a measure funding the State Department and US diplomacy, passed by unanimous voice vote, and prevents US funding for the overall United Nations budget from being used for the council’s 15 million dollar annual operations.

“We were right to refuse to dignify that poisonous talk-shop with our membership, and we must refuse to support it with our tax dollars,” said Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, the top Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

“By pulling its membership from the broader UN General Assembly without any membership criteria, the council has gone further than its predecessor in giving gross human rights violators the power to shape the international human rights agenda,” Ros-Lehtinen said.

antiunitednations_2.jpg

The council, of which the United States is only an observer, was formed last year to replace the discredited UN Human Rights Commission.

The United States earlier this week said it was disappointed by new rules adopted by the Human Rights Council and accused the fledgling institution of denying its own members voting rights

The 47 members of the Geneva-based council agreed to continue scrutiny of Israel and sought the abolition of independent rights experts monitoring Cuba and Belarus.

The United States said it was also concerned about what it called “procedural irregularities” employed to deny council members the opportunity to vote on the agenda.

In a statement, Ros-Lehtinen’s office faulted the council for failing to condemn genocide in Darfur, the “sprawling gulag of North Korea” and political and rights abuses in Cuba, Belarus, Myanmar and Zimbabwe.

Peanut Khadr is not alone: Here comes Shredder

Here comes Shredder: Schroeder Receives Honorary Doctorate from University of Damascus

20070620-180127_h.jpg

*Another prime-example of the depravity of the corrupt far left, Germany’s ex-chancellor Gerhard Shroeder, the guy who, after leaving office, went straight to work for the Russians, now openly sucks up to our Arab enemies, just like Pelosi, Carter, Clinton, Chirac. Don’t mention words like ‘ethics or morals’- these wankers wouldn’t know the meaning unless it came to bite them in the nose.

Damascus, (SANA) – Former Chancellor of Germany Gerhard Schroeder received on Wednesday an honorary doctorate from the University of Damascus in honor of his positive stances towards Arab causes and his belief in dialogue between cultures, international cooperation and coexistence.

On this occasion, Schroeder affirmed Syria’s right to restore the occupied Golan by international law and according to Security Council resolutions 242 and 338, pointing out to the necessity of finding a solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict and restoring rights.

Schroeder called the international community to prioritize security and stability in the Middle East and maintain the unity of Iraq, stressing that the US administration must end its occupation of Iraq via a timetable for withdrawal and the inclusion of neighboring countries in finding a solution for the situation in Iraq.

Schroeder rejected the policy of isolation, pointing out to the importance of encouraging and supporting mutual understanding between cultures and confronting the voices that incite conflict between civilizations.

Obviously Shredder doesn’t realize that this is the 1400-year war of civilizations against barbarity

Peanut Khadr shills for Hamas

Read this one sitting down. “Carter blasts US policy on Palestinians,” by Shawn Pogatchnik for the Associated Press:

DUBLIN, Ireland – Former President Jimmy Carter accused the U.S., Israel and the European Union on Tuesday of seeking to divide the Palestinian people by reopening aid to President Mahmoud Abbas’ new government in the West Bank while denying the same to the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip.
Carter, a Nobel Peace Prize winner who was addressing a human rights conference in Ireland, also said the Bush administration’s refusal to accept Hamas’ 2006 election victory was “criminal.”
Carter said Hamas, besides winning a fair and democratic mandate that should have entitled it to lead the Palestinian government, had proven itself to be far more organized in its political and military showdowns with Abbas’ moderate Fatah movement.

* Verdict: …..the Dhimmie Carter brokered peace accords were Criminal….
…..Dhimmi Carters love affair with terrorists is Criminal….

Well, to clear up the confusion, just cruise on over to the web site of the Carter Center and take a look at the list of donors who have contributed more than a million dollars. W hat a shock, what a rogues gallery: Prince Alaweed bin Talal, the Sultanate of Oman, Sultan Quobos bin Said al Said, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bakir M binLadin for the Saudi Bin Ladin Group, the Saudi Fund for Development, and the Government of the United Arab Emirates.

These are the very same people and states who have been financing jihad all over the globe and fomenting some of the most vicious anti-Jewish hatred the world has ever seen. As Jimmy Carter makes the rounds of the various mainstream media news shows I’m waiting for one honest reporter to ask the former President this simple question: “Mr. President, are you a paid agent of Arab jihadist governments?”

Thanks to Rosie

Hugh Fitzgerald rips Peanut Khadr here:

His deep solicitude for “the Palestinian people” is not new. But it is not based on much more than his palpable dislike of those who are the main victims of that “Palestinian people” as the shock troops of the Lesser Jihad agains Israel — the Jews of Israel.

Carter’s complete lack of sympathy or even understanding of the and the asymmetry in aims might surprise some. Israel, after all, simply wishes to live, not destroy the twenty-two Arab Muslim states, and would like to concede to the local Arabs as much autonomy as it can, consistent with Israel’s security, but the local Arabs have made that almost impossible. The Arabs want to eliminate Israel and the Slow Jihadists and Fast Jihadists differ only on such matters as tactics and timing. The asymmetry in population (350 million against 6 million Jews in Israel), and in resources (some ten trillion dollars in oil revenues for the Arabs and Muslims, as well as hundreds of billions, over the years, in the disguised Jizyah of foreign aid from America, Western Europe, and even, in the old days, from Eastern Europe and Russia, while Israel has, and only in recent decades, begun to receive American aid for which it has had to pay dearly in the concessions it has constantly been pressured to make by successive American admnistrations, not least at Camp David by Carter and Brzezinski). And Carter’s lying — that is what it is – in his latest book, about the history of Arab-Israeli negotiation, and his failure, even in the last two decades when he was free to begin to read about the history of Islamic conquests, about Jihad and the subjugation of non-Muslims, had all the time in the world to find out about Muslim attitudes, about Dar al-Islam and Dar al-Harb, had all the time in the world to discover why it is that the Arabs will never honor any of their treaties with Israel, had the time to read deeply in the history of the conflict, and in the history, and intent, of the Mandate for Palestine as set up by the League of Nations, had a chance to find out the demographic and cadastral history of the area under the Ottomans, and then during the Mandatory period, when Jews were kept out by the British at a time when they might have been saved from the Nazis, and illegal Arab immigration continued unchecked, drawn by the new economic opportunities created by the Zionist effort, throughout the Mandatory period.

He did none of these things, and never felt he had to. A classic, smiling, self-righteous antisemite, sure of himself, sure that he cannot possibly be accused of antisemitism because, you see, he deplores the Nazi concentration camps (that’s a tough one) and furthermore, he knows, “in his heart,” that he is “friend of Israel.”

And now we see that he is also, even more deeply and much more convincingly, a “friend of Hamas” as he was, only yesterday, a friend of Fatah and Abbas and the spirit of his special friend, to whom he offered all kinds of unsolicited advice on how to present the “Palestinian case” more plausibly to American audiences — wasnt’ that something? — Yassir Arafat.

Which circle of Hell for Carter? Which bolgia?

I support Hezbollah: Aussie cleric

* How did these people get into the country? Why do we put up with this?

Richard Kerbaj/The Australian

THE nation’s most senior Shia Muslim cleric has attacked John Howard for backing Israel against Arabs and openly declared his allegiance to the Iranian-backed terrorist group Hezbollah.
Kamal Mousselmani — head of the Supreme Islamic Shia Council of Australia — said yesterday his entire community considered Hezbollah a “resistance group”, not a terrorist network, and lashed the Howard Government over its support for Israel.

“They (the Australian Government) are encouraging terrorism,” the Lebanese-born cleric told The Weekend Australian in an interview conducted in Arabic. “Australia is encouraging Israel to kill our people daily. Write that down, we are not afraid of anyone.”

Sheik Mousselmani said all of Australia’s approximately 30,000 Shi’ites were avid supporters of Hezbollah (Party of God) and haters of Israel.

“Shia in Australia consider Israel a terrorist organisation and also view those who support Israel in the same light,” he said. “That’s what we believe.

“If Australia supports Israel, they are defending terrorism. Because we believe terrorists come from Israel — not from our people — I support Hezbollah.”

Hezbollah’s military arm, the External Security Organisation, is a proscribed terrorist organisation in Australia, and supporting Hezbollah’s political and military wings is illegal under UN counter-terrorist financing declarations.

Sheik Mousselmani said Hezbollah was responsible for financially assisting and providing food and shelter for victims of the 34-day war in southern Lebanon last year.

The cleric said neither he nor Hezbollah condoned suicide terrorism missions.

“We are against the suicide bombings going on around the world,” he said.

“And Hezbollah is against it.

“Our opinion is that Hezbollah is not a terrorist group. We consider Hezbollah a resistance group. Put those words down, we are not afraid to say that.”

Sheik Mousselmani’s comments come as national security agencies step up their investigation into the Shia community in Australia, which until now has not been as closely monitored as the Sunni Muslims.

The Weekend Australian understands security authorities are monitoring financial transactions between community members and organisations abroad.

Sydney’s Arncliffe Mosque, the largest Shia place of worship in Australia, and Melbourne’s Fawkner Mosque are also understood to be of interest to the authorities.

Sheik Mousselmani confirmed his community sent money to war victims in Lebanon following last year’s conflict between Hezbollah and Israel, but said none of the money went to Shia militants.

“People send money to their families … just like Greek people and Chinese people send to their families,” he said.

“No one from our community sends money directly to Hezbollah. Hezbollah is not expecting us to send them money. They don’t need our money.”

Asked if his organisation would send money if Hezbollah were to ask for it, he said: “If they need it, that would be an entirely different matter.”

Sheik Mousselmani said there was no threat of his views radicalising young Shia men in Australia because Hezbollah’s ideology was limited to Lebanon. His community was law-abiding and would staunchly oppose any attack against Australia.

“None of our people think this way,” said Sheik Mousselmani, rejecting extremism. “We love Australia, we respect Australia, we are part of the multicultural society. We protect Australia and we work for Australia.

“But it does not mean we like Israel. If John Howard wants George Bush and Israel, that’s his problem. We’ve got nothing to do with him.”

Sheik Mousselmani said Hezbollah did not have a branch in Australia.

“Hezbollah is not operating outside of Lebanon,” he said. “Hezbollah is defending Lebanon against Israel. We either back Hezbollah or we back Israel, and Israel is killing our people.”

He said the Arncliffe Mosque, Al Zahra, in Sydney’s inner south, was strictly a place of worship and was never used as a political platform.

The 36-year-old cleric dismissed claims his community received funds from Iran to spread the ideology of religious hardliners in Tehran.

He said the Shia community in Australia took its religious orders and advice from Iraq’s supreme Islamic leader, Grand Ayatollah Ali Husaini al-Sistani. “The Shia community has nothing to hide.”

Friday: Day of Prayer

It’s the day of prayer for Muslims, and that means worldwide rage over Sir Salman Rushdie, as Islamic leaders incite their followers with calls for Rushdie’s death: Rushdie fatwa looms again amid new protests.

“In Islamic Iran, the revolutionary fatwa issued by Imam Khomeini remains valid and cannot be modified,” leading Iranian cleric Hojatoleslam Ahmad Khatami said during his Friday prayers sermon in Tehran.

“The old and decrepit government of Great Britain should know that the era of their empire is over and today they are a valet in the service of the United States,” Khatami added.

Khomeini’s successor as supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said in January 2005 he still believed the British novelist was an apostate whose killing would be authorised by Islam. …

Business in Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian Kashmir, ground to a halt Friday as traders heeded calls by Islamic militants to strike over the award. Shops in the main market were shuttered following the call by hardline separatist group Jamiat-ul-Mujahedin, although there was little impact in other parts of Kashmir.

“The Kashmiri nation has to rise in one voice to show resentment against the shameful decision (to award the knighthood) by observing a complete shutdown,” said Jamiat spokesman Jameel Ahmed.

In Pakistan, demonstrators took to the streets in several cities. Around 300 people in Islamabad, watched over by riot police carrying batons and shields, chanted “Our struggle will continue until Salman Rushdie is killed!”

“Britain must withdraw the knighthood and hand Rushdie to Pakistan to be punished under Islamic laws,” Fazalur Rehman, a pro-Taliban cleric and leader of the parliamentary opposition, told the protesters.

Israel is saving Muslims from Muslims

* Hardly reported in the Western media, the very same genocidal lunatics who want Israel’s destruction are running for their lives:

To Israel!

The fortunate among the Palestinians who suffered at the hand of Hamas survived. The real lucky ones made it to Israeli hospitals. They are able to tell the tale of a hell on earth.

“In Israel, Palestinians tell of Hamas butchery,” by Fadi Eyadat and Mijal Grinberg for Haaretz:

Fatan al-Hinawi, 9, was hospitalized in the children’s ward of Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv after being wounded in Gaza. A bullet punctured her side, hit her spine, bowels, a kidney and came out the other side, hitting her arm.
Al-Hinawi is one of five Palestinians, three of them children, who were caught in Hamas-Fatah cross fire and taken to Ichilov. Some are in serious condition.

Shadi, a 23-year-old policemen, is one of them. He was attacked by Hamas gunmen a week ago. “There were five of them. They stood over me and shot my legs from the knee down. One of them put his Kalashnikov to my head. Instinctively I moved the barrel aside and the bullet hit my hand,” Shadi told Haaretz yesterday. He arrived at Ichilov with one leg amputated and the other leg crushed.

Unfortunately, we will never hear testimony from the dozens who were brutally executed.

Later yesterday, Zecharia Alrai, 39, an officer in Fatah’s elite Force 17 commando unit, arrived. He had been abducted by four Hamas gunmen a week ago. They loaded him into a jeep and drove him to an isolated spot, where they shot three bullets into his leg and dumped him.
“That’s not Islam. That’s evil and hypocrisy. How ironic that Israel is rescuing us from our Muslim ‘brothers,'” he said.

How ironic is it that Israel is saving Muslims from Muslims, while Egypt and Jordan remain silent? How ironic that the main target of Palestinian terror is the one doing the most to help? Where are the British doctors who were so quick to condemn their Israeli counterparts?

As usual, it won’t be long before the condemnations start coming. As usual, you know who will be blamed. It won’t be Hamas.

Thank God its Friday!

With the knighting of Salman Rushdie we have already seen the usual response from planet Islam, the fanatical frenzy, which, according to Winston Churchill, is ‘more dangerous than hydrophobia in a dog’-

Now, today, after Friday prayers, the imam’s, mufti’s and mullah’s worldwide will whip the believers into the usual amok-inducing lunacy that makes them go on a rampage looting and killing, firebombing embassies and attacking westerners or unbelievers wherever they are, we shall see…

Meanwhile, a few pic’s in retrospect from this weeks demo’s in Islamistan:

The Trouble with Irshad Manji

Irshad Manji: Islam is the problem

The irrational response to Salman Rushdie’s knighthood is sadly typical

GROWING up in Vancouver, I attended an Islamic school every Saturday. There, I learned that Jews can’t be trusted because they worship “moolah, not Allah”, meaning money, not God. According to my teacher, every last Jew is consumed with business.
But looking around my neighbourhood, I noticed that most of the new business signs featured Asian languages: Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, Punjabi and plenty of Urdu. Not Hebrew, Urdu, which is spoken throughout Pakistan.

That reality check made me ask: What if my religious school isn’t educating me? What if it’s indoctrinating me?

I’m reminded of this question thanks to the news that Salman Rushdie, author of The Satanic Verses and 10 other works of fiction, will be knighted by the Queen.

Read it all…

The apes from the MSM see the Manji Muslimah’s somehow as the magical cure to the radical Islamists: For them Manji is the ‘moderate Muslim’, which is harder to find than the proverbial needle in the haystack.

Irshad Manji, unlike Ayaan Ali Hirsi, seems unable to make a clean break with the cult, and keeps cooking her own private Islam, because nobody ever takes her up on it and asks the right questions about the immutable tenets of Islam, the attitudes and atmospherics about Muslims, and the subjugation of infidels, dhimmitude and the relentless jihad against the rest of the world over 1400 years. Western journalist’s who prefer to listen to the the Manji’s of this world, would find it far easier to find a cure for this disease by reading the Koran and the sunnah, but they just won’t go there.

Why not?

Times Online: The lipstick lesbian

“The good news,” she insists, “is it doesn’t have to be like this.” She wants a reformation in Islam, returning it to its clever, fun-loving roots. “

‘Fun loving roots???’ Never, never did Islam have any ‘fun-loving roots’-The mind boggles.

Nobody who has the faintest idea about this cult should give her the light of day. She is neither here or there…

Hirsi Ali: “Islam unreformed, as a set of beliefs, is hostile to everything Western”

In “The Role of Journalism Today,” a speech to the National Press Club, Ayaan Hirsi Ali tells truths that the assembled journalists cannot bear to hear from anyone else.

…It is not the end of history. The 21st century began with a battle of ideas, and this battle is about the values of the West versus those of Islam.
Tony Blair, a leader I admire, wrote in the first issue of this year’s Foreign Affairs magazine that what we were facing after the 11th of September was a battle of ideas, a battle of values. In his article, Blair began by incisively outlining the most crucial conflict of our time, but then lost the line of his argument in inconsistency when he came to clarifying the parties involved in the war of values. He backpedaled against his argument and declared that the Koran is a great book, ahead of its time and good for women.

Why are Westerners so insecure about everything that is so wonderful about the West: political freedom, free press, freedom of expression, equal rights for women and men, gays and heterosexuals, critical thinking, and the great strength of scrutinizing ideas–and especially faith?

It is not the end of history. The 21st century began with a battle of ideas, and this battle is about the values of the West versus those of Islam. Tony Blair and the Pope should not be embarrassed in saying it, and you should stop self-censoring. Islam and liberal democracy are incompatible; cultures and religions are not equal. And perhaps most important of all, Muslims are not half-wits who can respond only in violence. The Koran is not a great book; it is reactionary and full of misogyny.

The Byzantine emperor’s analysis of Muhammad was correct: he spread his faith by the sword.
