Iran Criticizes Canada’s Human Rights Record TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Foreign Ministry released a book under the title of “Human Rights Violation by Canada”.

Most locals concede that getting anything of substance accomplished in Boston is a Herculean task. Residents have all but embraced the principle of civic inaction with a perverse kind of local pride. In the end, who you know is probably more important than what you are trying to do. And there is no doubt that little is accomplished without the approval and support of the mayor, Thomas M. Menino.

So it is with the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center (ISBCC) near the intersection of Tremont Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard. Better known as the Roxbury mosque, the ISBCC has been in the works for more than 20 years. A few weeks ago it finally opened its doors for prayer — five years late, millions over budget, and still far from complete.

MUSLIM Australian women are starting to fight back against a repressive patriarchal system in which controversial Sheikh Taj al-Din al-Hilali is seen as a champion of women’s rights, a Melbourne University conference will hear today.

Leading Muslim spokeswoman Silma Ihram says new voices in the Muslim community, especially women, are bypassing the mosque as increasingly irrelevant — but the lack of structure also makes space for radical groups to seek recruits.

Ms Ihram, a noted educator who will present a paper to a National Centre of Excellence for Islamic Studies conference today, is one of several speakers about Muslim women fighting back from “second-class status”.

Livni: “Israel will not participate in the Durban 2 Conference”

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tzipi Livni, announced today, in front of the General Assembly of the United Jewish Communities of North America, that Israel will not participate and will not legitimize the Durban 2 Conference.

Two years ago, the UN General Assembly decided to convene in Geneva in 2009 the Durban Review Conference, as a follow-up to “the World Conference against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance” held in Durban in September 2001. The Durban Conference of 2001 became a forum for pernicious accusations and incitement against Israel,  attacks against  Zionism libeling it as a form of racism, denial of the unique and special nature  of the Holocaust, and a distortion of  the meaning of the term anti-Semitism.
