A Syrian sheik who labeled all Jews as legitimate targets for suicide bombers and who supports the death penalty for homosexuals is the latest extremist Muslim cleric raising money for Syrian-American groups supporting dictator Bashar al-Assad’s ouster.

Sheik Mohammad Rateb al-Nabulsi is in the middle of an 11-city tour across America on co-sponsored by the Syrian American Council (SAC) and the Wylie, Texas-based Shaam Relief.

A promotional announcement hails al-Nabulsi as “an internationally-known Muslim scholar, renowned for his scholarship of Islam, who has lent his formidable clerical authority to support human rights, tolerance and respect for all.”

But tolerance is not part of his preaching when it comes to perceived enemies.

Asked about Palestinian suicide bombings in April 2001, al-Nabulsi said he was “too insignificant to give a Sharia ruling or fatwa.” Instead, he extensively cited from two previous fatwas from radical clerics which bless such attacks.

“All the Jewish people are combatants” acceptable as targets for attacks in Israel, al-Nabulsi wrote in his “ruling on martyrdom operations in Palestine.”

Hamas calls to give military training to high school girls 

Hamas’ Gaza leader Ismail Haniyeh called to expand theexisting program of giving military training  in high schools to include girls as well.

He said, “We have trained police and national security to oversee the training of girls to follow the path of istishadiyyat (female suicide bombers).”

Speaking at a graduation ceremony, Haniyeh also praised the Al Qassam Brigades and the Interior Ministry  for spearheading the boys’ military training.

The Goldstone Report clung to the fiction that the Al Qassam Brigades as being a separate organization from Hamas.

A MEMORIAL service has been held at a western Sydney mosque for slain Muslim woman Amira Karroum, and her husband Yusuf Ali.

Ms Karroum’s sister Rose requested the Masjid Noor mosque in Granville hold the service, last night, for worshippers to mourn the couple who were killed in Syria late last week.

Both Ms Karroum and Mr Ali were worshippers at the mosque before Mr Ali moved to Syria mid-last year.

Relatives today said arrangements were still being made to fly the couples’ bodies back to Australia for burial.

We should hope that the Abbott government doesn’t waste one cent of taxpayer money to return the cadavers of jihadists to this country.

That chapter stipulates that Muhammad always gets a cut — twenty percent: “And know that anything you obtain of war booty – then indeed, for Allah is one fifth of it and for the Messenger and for [his] near relatives and the orphans, the needy, and the [stranded] traveler, if you have believed in Allah and in that which We sent down to Our Servant on the day of criterion – the day when the two armies met. And Allah, over all things, is competent.” (8:41) Nowadays, that would be the emir’s, as Mizanur Rahman notes here that “the booty must be gathered and given to the emir, even if you dislike how it is spent.”

The Search For The Moderate Muslim

When Muslims tell us that there is no such thing as a ‘moderate’ Muslim, that they feel belittled or even insulted by those who use the term, then we should listen and take their objections seriously. The ‘moderate’ Muslim is rare as hens teeth, as illusionary as the unicorn and as ridiculous as Bigfoot and the Yeti.

The Search For The Moderate Muslim

This may be one of the most difficult issues to deal with for those of us who are working to defeat the third jihad: What about the moderate Muslims? Is there such a thing? What does “moderate” mean?

I think what most of us hope it means is “a Muslim that openly and definitely repudiates the violent, intolerant, supremacist passages in the Koran.”

But the more I read about mainstream “moderate” Muslim organizations in America, the more I realize that what I hope “moderate” means and what those “moderate Muslims” mean by the term are entirely different. I am getting the feeling that the term “moderate Muslim” is not only pointless, but misleading — perhaps even deliberately misleading.

We should stop using the term. We should come up with a name for Muslims who straightforwardly reject the violent, intolerant passages in the Koran and openly reject the supremacist ideology strewn throughout Islamic teachings.
