One of the most savage indictments of Australia and its institutions came from an unnamed woman in the audience. Note how the Greens and Labor MPs tended to believe and endorse her incendiary claims, and host Tony Jones even assumed the woman was being persecuted by ASIO::

Joe Hildebrand says all the acceptable things about the Sydney riot – unrepresentative minority, protest hijacked, most Muslims reject the violence, the Koran preaches peace (well, “mostly”) – yet he still cops it in the Today Tonight debate from a Muslim lady who was at the protest with her children:
Rebecca Kay: But it’s very easy for people to say like, Joe, no offence, Joe, to say that. You have restrictions against your religion. You can’t say anything bad about Jewish people. We don’t have them kind of protections.
Hildebrand:Â I’m not Jewish.
Kay: Oh, aren’t you? Are you sure?
The mistake is funny. But what is not funny is that Kay thought Joe’s perfectly sane criticism of the protest was driven by his alleged Jewish faith – and that Jews have protections here that Muslims don’t.
No, not funny at all.
Think I read too much into that? Here Kay again, from 4:28:
It takes two to tango… The police force was equally as aggressive.
And here Kay explains away the infamous picture of a mother at the protest photographing her child holding up a sign calling for the beheading of those who offend Mohammad:
I personally believe that that sign was left on the floor for that child to pick it up.
I would like to know the other side of the story before believing her allegations of police ignoring lurid threats to kill her.
I’d also like to know how Kay came to be in the audience, and why she was not identified, allowing her to seem like some typical Muslim woman just vilified and threatened as she went on her quiet way.
And that goes to the wider issue: how and why did the ABC get together such a collection of Muslim firebrands savaging Australia? How grossly irresponsible to give viewers the impression that every Muslim in our country was like every Muslim on Q&A – militant, damning of Australia and full of excuses for extremists. How dangerous to give any extremists the idea that their rage against this wicked country was justified.
As the US takes five Arab States on bombing missions into Syria, the prize of being the first to commit an Islamic atrocity on innocent Australians is exciting Muslims everywhere energised by the success of the Islamic State so far, and the craven weakness of our politicians.
It’s just a matter of time, and we all know it, except those in a position to prevent it.
While our Muslim citizens will be busy raping 72 virgins in heaven, under Allah’s supervision, we will be trying to identify body parts.
The US attack on Syria is a pivotal point in a widening Islamic war. Arab States like Qatar and Saudi Arabia would never have condoned US intervention unless they themselves felt threatened by an out-of-control Islamic State. And the UAR, Jordan, Turkey and Bahrain will never agree to troops on the ground with or without the US leading the way. So that leaves the UK, Australia, Canada and New Zea… no, forget I said that.
Obama has discounted the possibility of ‘boots on the ground’ but he can shorten this war to a few weeks if he changes his mind… and fair dinkum, he must change his mind, he absolutely must.
Bombs might soften up this vermin but only ground troops can clean them out. And the greatest army in the world is champing on the bit to do just that with integrated and effective US air support. Forget retraining the Iraqis.

In the world of crossbencher David Leyonhjelm, it seems any absurdity is possible when it comes to his disregard for the decency and morality of ASIO agents, whom he believes need a law to tell them not to torture victims. He led the way in calling for legislation to stop ASIO from indulging in torture. This must be deeply offensive to those working in an agency that almost certainly prevented the death and torture of an innocent Australian on the streets of Sydney last week.

In the life-swap program, “counter-Jihadist” Ben lived with devout Muslim couple Lydia and Ahmed, and was supposed to host them in his home. But he stormed out early, saying that “moderate Muslims” do not exist.

“This is our country. We want it back. Islam, in its current form, has no place here.”
Ben declined to promote or discuss the show. But Ahmed, who describes himself as a moderate Muslim, says Ben didn’t give the experiment a fair go.
There is no such thing as a “moderate Muslim”.
“We’ve tried calling him, messaging him, on-camera and off-camera to try and get him back, because we genuinely wanted to complete the experience. Tell us why you have all these feelings and fear. We all want the same thing here in Australia — a safe life,” he said.
No, Muslims don’t want the same thing. The Koran says Muslims should  strike fear and terror in the hearts of the unbelievers, not to seek a safe life. This is not about feelings, its about  jihad and making the world Islamic.
“I feel sick and paralysed with fear”, Â “criminals had hijacked my religion,” – “I was fearful of the backlash that would now race towards Muslim women in Australia. I am incredibly fearful of the right-wing extremism that is breeding in this country…”

Dr. Bassam Tibi is Professor Emeritus of International Relations at the University of Goettingen and has served as Director of the Center for International Affairs established there in 1988. He also served as the A.D. White Professor at Large at Cornell University.
In 2009, he gave a lecture “The Islamist Challenge to America: Anti-Americanism and Antisemitism” for the Yale Initiative for the Interdisciplinary Study of Antisemitism . Within his lecture he gives an amazing, and very sobering, anecdote that is not well known.
He says that the EU was paying Gaza a half billion Euros per year before the Quartet said that Hamas must adhere to certain principles in order to be included in negotiations. But the Eu really, really wanted to continue to give this money to Hamas- run Gaza. So a top EU official EU asked Hamas to mouth the three principles at a press conference, adding “whether you comply with them or not, it’s not our business“: Â recognize Israel, Â accept the Oslo agreements and renounce violence.
If they did this, within a week, the money would resume.
Hamas replied that they can’t do that. “They referred to their charter, they said that Palestine is property of God and (part of the Islamic waqf), we have no competence to negotiate over the property of God, therefore Israel has to go.”
Tibi concludes, “People involved in appeasement are either naive or they don’t know”.
This little story illustrates that the EU was more interested in funding a terror group than they were in peace, even telling Hamas to pretend to be peaceful – something that would have made Israel look like the intransigent party, a clear pro-Hamas tilt. It proves that those who believe that Hamas can be appeased, or even be part of a peace process, are deluded. And it proves that the antisemitic Hamas charter, which many pretend is not really relevant today, is still the guiding document of the terror group.
