The Filipino police say that the perpetrator was a lone robber, not Islamic State jihadis. The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack.

A Taliban spokesman recently explained: “Our fight is Jihad and an obligatory worship. And every obligatory act of worship has 70 times more reward in Ramadan.”

The Islamic State no doubt believes that as well.

BEYOND Iraq and Syria, a third Islamic State battlefront has opened in the southern Philippines, bringing new conflict to the region by drawing militants from around the world to fight under the black flag of the caliphate.

At its core, the ideology of the militants does not differ from those who have fought decades-long Muslim insurgency, who operate under names such as Abu Sayyaf and more recently the Maute group.

However, their decision to rebrand to the Islamic State and move from jungle hideouts to open urban warfare is momentous.

In the last 12 days, more than 150 rebels, soldiers and citizens have been killed in Marawi City, on the major southern island of Mindanao, including eight workers who were executed, dumped off a bridge and branded “traitors” to ISIS.

A NATION ON EDGE

The attack on a casino-resort in Manila by a masked gunman overnight on Friday was claimed by Islamic State but police said there was no evidence it was a terrorist act. It will nonetheless set the country further on edge.

President Rodrigo Duterte has declared martial law across Mindanao, a partially autonomous Muslim state. Even before the hotel attack, he was said to be considering putting the entire country under martial law, which now seems possible.

Australia is a heavy aid provider to the troubled south, recently announcing a $90m, nine-year project to educate children attending Islamic schools in an area that has become a no-go zone for foreigners.

Women have become the ultimate terror tool, used to recruit new terrorists

Women captured and enslaved by ISIS, Boko Haram and other Islamic terror groups are not only being raped: they are forced to convert to Islam; used as revenue streams via prostitution, sex trafficking or demands for ransom from their families; or “treated as the wages of war, being gifted as a form of in-kind compensation or payment to fighters who are then entitled to resell or exploit them as they wish.” They are offered up as enticements in recruitment efforts, which often come with promises of wives or private sex slaves. And they are often forced to act as human shields or suicide bombers.

For Some, Sex Appeal Is Part of Jihad’s Lure

Earlier this month, the US State Department issued a new travel warning for Americans, cautioning them about traveling to Europe this summer.

The extent of that warning was remarkable — not just a single country has been deemed dangerous, but an entire continent. And with good reason: terror attacks are becoming more frequent Europe-wide, from Paris to Berlin, and Stockholm to Brussels. And ISIS was quick to claim responsibility for last week’s suicide bombing at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England.

Furthermore, British intelligence recently warned that as many as 350 British nationals may soon return from Syria, where they have been fighting alongside ISIS, and that many of them are prepared to continue their violent jihad back home. They’ll have ample support: England’s MI5 suspects that there are up to 3,000 “violent Islamic extremists” in Britain, according to London’s Times.

That was the most overlooked revelation to come from the testimony of the former FBI director. While the media parsed every Comey hiccup to bolster its election conspiracy theories, it ignored that number.

Comey stated that there were around 2,000 terrorism investigations. 1,000 of those came from “home grown violent extremism” with no evidence of contact with foreign terrorists. Another 1,000 had “some contact with foreign terrorists”. 300 from that 2,000 had come to America as refugees.

Two-thirds of the refugee terrorists were from Iraq. The other third were mainly from the six countries named in President Trump’s travel pause which left-wing activist judges have unconstitutionally halted.

Two years ago, Comey listed around 900 investigations. Even assuming that some of the 1,000 “home grown extremists” aren’t Muslim terrorists, that’s a staggering and shocking rise in case numbers. (Continued below the fold)

For Western Europe’s ruling elites, protecting the rights of so-called asylum seekers has become more important than protecting their own citizens.

Recently, Germany provided a staggering example of this. An immigrant from Uganda raped a woman, but the German authorities refuse to expel him because the rapist claims to be gay and homosexuals are prosecuted in his home country.

The elites also refuse to defend our own identity, and today’s Dutch newspapers contain an example of that. A Protestant church proposes that the official holiday, which the Dutch enjoy for the Christian feast of Pentecost, be replaced by an official holiday on the Islamic feast of Eid-al-Fitr.

With this proposal, the Christian group says, it wants “to do justice to diversity in religion.” However, if there is one culture on earth which allows no diversity in religion whatsoever, it is Islam. Just look at Saudi-Arabia, where they do not even allow the construction of a single church.

I have picked these two examples because they pertain to the two most important issues Europe is currently facing: Mass immigration and the surge of Islam. If we do not want to be wiped away, our population replaced and our culture annihilated, it is vital that we start acting forcefully and courageously to protect our citizens and our civilisation.

Prosecutors in the Chechen Republic have asked a Grozny court to block access to online material deemed insulting to religion, such as provocative cartoons often featured in the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo.

In its address to the Leninsky District Court of the Chechen capital, the Prosecutor’s Office said it had monitored internet sites and found reposts of cartoons from Charlie Hebdo.

“The abovementioned fact was the reason for us to file a lawsuit to the Leninsky District Court in Grozny seeking to limit the access to materials that pursue the objectives of insulting [religious] believers’ feelings and the dissemination of which could become a prerequisite for instigation of ethnic, racial or religious hatred or strife,” the message reads.

Numerous commentators then presented case after case of refugees who had committed acts of terrorism.

ASIO boss Lewis responded with an argument quickly demolished by Chris Kenny:

After being called out on his statement, Mr Lewis initially chose silence but this morning took to the friendly space of Radio National to try to explain himself. “There are without question — and I don’t resile from that — there are members of the former refugee or the sons and daughters of refugees who are in the group that have resorted to radicalisation,” he said, in a concession to the bleeding obvious.

“But I think it is very wrong to say that it is because of their refugee status,” he went on, arguing with a point that as far as I am aware no one has made. Certainly no sane person would make such a claim — that terrorists are radicalised because they are refugees — but this somehow is the clarification the ASIO chief has decided to make.

You may have thought the whole issue had reached critical idiot mass when the ABC’s Jonathan Green wrote that Lewis was “attempting to lead a nuanced conversation”, but even Green would not have dared take the next step. Masked Gunmen Attack Luxury Resort in Manila, Islamic State Claims Responsibility

A terrorist attack appears underway at Resorts World Manila, in the Philippine capital, with reports of masked gunmen firing at guests and hotel employees alike. The government has dispatched rescue workers and SWAT teams to the site. The hotel has reported itself to be on lockdown.

Update, 17:30 PM EST: “Don’t panic, this is not a cause for alarm. We cannot attribute this to terrorism,” said Chief Dela Rosa in a radio interview. “We are looking into a robbery angle because he did not hurt any people and went straight to the casino chips storage room. He parked at the second floor and barged into the casino, shooting large TV screens and poured gasoline on a table setting it on fire.”

He described the suspect as “foreign-looking, a Caucasian, about six feet tall,” and said a bag full of stolen casino chips taken by the gunman has been recovered.

National security chiefs have identified “radical Sunni Islam” and its impact on first and second-generation families as the source of Australia’s terror threat, in a bid to shut down a bruising political row over the danger posed by refugees fleeing the Middle East.

The show of unity came after Coalition MPs, led by Tony Abbott, heaped pressure on ASIO chief Duncan Lewis, who had told a Senate estimates hearing last week there was “absolutely no evidence” to suggest a link between the refugee intake and terrorism.

We have a problem with Islam & Muslims. To blame “refugees” per se is nothing but deflection. If we import Muslims,whether they claim to be refugees or not, we end up with Islamic terrorists. It is that simple.

Australian Federal Police Commissioner Andrew Colvin and Deakin University terrorism expert Greg Barton yesterday backed Mr Lewis in saying that “sons and daughters” of refugees were at risk of radicalisation.

“The challenge that we are dealing with is, by and large, a radical interpretation of Sunni Islam,” Mr Colvin said.

Islam is Islam. It has to be taken straight up, undiluted. It is not to be interpreted.

Mr Lewis, who will brief Coalition MPs as to why radical Sunni Islamic group Hizb ut-Tahrir has not been listed as a terrorist organisation — yesterday modified his claim there was no link between refugees and terrorism, admitting that “a very few of them” had been persons of interest to ASIO. “I’ve not said that there are no terrorists who have not been refugees or who have not been the sons and daughters of refugees born in this country,” Mr Lewis said.

However, the spy chief added it was “very wrong” to suggest children of migrants had resorted to radicalisation because their families had arrived as refugees.

It is very wrong for the spy chief to put up straw men just to knock them over. Muslims are religiously obliged to make the world Islamic. They will kill and die for that. What part of that is it you don’t understand? That, and nothing else, is their purpose in life.

A$$hole of the Month: ASIO Boss Duncan Lewis

The hashtag #NTDWI — the ironic abbreviation for ‘Nothing to do with Islam’ — pops up with monotonous regularity on social media, usually in response to the latest terrorist atrocity.

It derides those who insist that the so-called ‘religion of peace’ has no links with fundamentalist terrorism. As former PM Tony Abbott bluntly observed this week: “Nearly all of the terrorist incidents are associated with people yelling out Allahu Akbar as they kill”.

One might also quip the abbreviation stands for ‘Nothing to do with immigration’ following the appearance by ASIO director-general Duncan Lewis at Senate estimates last week. Lewis insisted there was “absolutely no evidence to suggest there is a connection between refugees and terrorism.” With the exception of at least two murders by terrorist Islamists who came to Australia as asylum seekers, and the conviction of at least twelve other first and second generation Muslim migrants for terror-related offences, that is. Lewis’s dismissive rejection is what you’d expect to hear on Q&A or at a writers’ festival, but not from the highest intelligence official in the country.
