ATTORNEY-GENERAL Nicola Roxon has accused Tony Abbott of ‘’dog whistling’’ by pledging to repeal Australia’s racial vilification law.

Roxon should be ashamed of herself. How is it that someone who joins Labor to fight injustice ends up suppressing free speech and sliming good people as racists?

Victoria’s equal opportunity police were just not getting enough complaints to work with. So this foolish Labor Government this week unleashed them to go invent some more, passing even more oppressive Equal Opportunity laws:

Deputy Premier and Attorney-General Rob Hulls welcomed the passage of the new reforms, saying they ensured Victorians benefited from equal opportunity laws fit for the 21st century…

He said the new laws would help stamp out entrenched and systemic discrimination against minority groups byÂ giving the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission the ability to investigate persistent and systemic discrimination without first requiring a complaint to be made.

Let me show you what kind of divisive thing you may now get, using as an example a case from the commission’s own files:

(The Equal Opportunity Commission) hired May Helou, head of the Islamic Council of Victoria’s women’s support group. Her job, the EOC said, was to ensure “Arabic and Muslim communities are aware of their rights under anti-discrimination laws” and give “support to people wishing to make a complaint”.

The hounds had been set loose… In March 2002,Â Helou told Muslim converts at the ICV headquarters of a seminar on jihad to be run by Catch the Fire and asked them to go.

Said one later, she didn’t want the meeting to be held “without any Muslims present”. So when (pastors) Nalliah and Scot got up to speak at their seminar about jihad, they had in front of them 250 born-again Christians – and three people they did not know were Muslims.

A top media rights watchdog has listed Australia along with Iran and North Korea in a report on countries that pose a threat of internet censorship.

Paris-based media rights group Reporters Without Borders on Thursday put Australia and South Korea on its list of countries “under surveillance” in its “Internet Enemies” report.

But its not all bad news:

Big move by Google:Â GOOGLE Inc. executives are “99.9 percent” sure they will pull the plug on their Chinese search engine after talks with Chinese officials over censorship concerns have broken down. More here>>

The ‘dirty’ excuses:

Australia was listed for the government’s plan to block access to websites featuring material such as rape, drug use, bestiality and child sex abuse.

Critics say the plan is a misguided measure that will harm civil liberties by blocking a broader range of content than just nasty material.

Communications Minister Stephen Conroy has said heÂ plans to introduce legislation by the end of next week that would require ISPs to block a blacklist of “refused classification” websites for all Australians.

No one was satisfied with Conroy dodging the questions, and his repeatedly mentioned nonsense about the “Russian mob” was met with laughter. From the Â ABC transcript:Â Â “I don’t actually know what’s on the list but I’m told by (indistinct) at ACMA it appears to be closer to the actual, legitimate list.”Â Â But that is the intention behind this drive for internet censorship: Big Brother ueber alles. Be worried, be very, very worried.

Â “Many, many Muslim friends” he has, this Conroy, and Waleed Aly’s tilt, the hijabbed ‘Sociologist’ Susan Carland, denied that the Taliban practice the “real Islam”- while using the forum to bash Israel, the same old dissonant howler for every far left ABC-tard to sing along to, especially the sputtering Louise Adler who raved about “occupation”. Andrew Bolt was quickly sidelined when he mentioned the fake stories about Israeli’s bombing schools, shooting up ambulances etc. and is left wondering why we collectively engage in denial that jihad is the real Islam and that some infidel politicians like Conroy know their Islam better than practicing Muslims. Louise Adler couldn’t be more wrong…

GENEVA (AP) â€” The U.N.’s top human-rights body approved a proposal backed by Muslims nations Thursday urging the passage of laws around the world protecting religion from criticism.
The proposal by Pakistan had drawn strong criticism from free-speech campaigners and liberal democracies.

This isn’t really about criticizing religion. It’s about criticizing Islam.
Muslim nations have argued that religions, in particular Islam, must be shielded from criticism in the media and other areas of public life. They cited cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad as an example of unacceptable free speech.

“Islam is frequently and wrongly associated with human rights violations and terrorism,” the resolution said.
Not all Muslims are terrorists, but all (or nearly all) terrorists are Muslims.
