“PM terms US attacks inside Paksitan terrorism”  ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has termed the US attacks inside Pakistan’s territory as terrorism.Speaking to media persons at Prime Minister House here on Wednesday, Prime Minister Gilani said his government wants to take all the coalition partners on board on national issues. He said war against terrorism is Pakistan’s own war.    Gilani said, “It is government’s responsibility to provide security to foreign diplomats and ambassadors, adding complete security will be provided to them.”

LAHORE: Bomb blasts including the attack on the Marriott hotel in Islamabad have nothing to do with jihad but are blatant acts of terrorism, which must be eliminated, Jamatu Dawa Pakistan head Hafiz Muhammad Saeed said on Tuesday. Talking to Express News Saeed condemned the Islamabad suicide bombing and said that he did not think that the government would be able to investigate the bombing. MANILA, Philippines — Religious leaders in Lanao are calling for a jihad (holy war) in fighting “oppressors” against Islam, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) claimed Saturday.

“Sermons of the religious leaders of Lanao provinces in Friday’s congregational prayers called on the Bangsamoro to unite and wage jihad fi sabilillah in fighting the oppressors, religious persecutors and enemies of Islam,” it said.

There is a striking similarity in this story to the peace talks between jihadists and the government of the Philippines, which recently fell apart and returned directly to calls for jihad. One cannot help but wonder, when aware of Islamic history and teachings regarding truces (hudna), whether this will truly lead to a lasting peace, or just buy time.

The fatwa said, “If U.S. would carry out more attacks inside Pakistan’s territory, then people have obligation to defend their homeland. It is our responsibility to fight alongside Pakistan army against any external aggression.”

KARACHI: On average, 100 women are raped every 24 hours in Karachi city alone, and a majority of them are working women, said Additional Police Surgeon (APS) Dr Zulfiqar Siyal.

A majority of them are working class women or those working as domestic help and are mostly up to 20 years old, he said.

 

“I am saying with full authority that such a large number of rape cases happen in the city,” he told Daily Times on the sidelines of a discussion on sexual violence organised by the Aurat Foundation on Monday. “But very few rape survivors have the courage to come forward in search of justice.”
