Russia is Called to Join the Ummah (GoV)

A Russian imam is unhappy with the double eagle, Russia’s official coat of arms. He thinks it has two many crosses on it, and is thus unfair to Muslims. He wants one of the crosses be replaced with the crescent moon to symbolize Russia’s Muslims. (With 2 million headbangers in Moscow alone you know which way the wind blows: submit and your life and belongings will be spared….!)

Chechen jihad leader claims responsibility for deadly subway blasts, blames “massacre by Russian invaders on the poorest residents of Chechnya and Ingushetia…”

He warned Russians that the “war will come to your streets, and you will feel it with your own lives and skins.” Fox News

MAKHACHKALA, Russia – President Dmitry Medvedev made a surprise visit Thursday to the violence-wracked southern province of Dagestan, telling police and security forces to use tougher, “more cruel” measures to fight the “scum” responsible for terrorist attacks.

Needless to mention that the eunuchs  from the dhimmified Western press are already shrieking  “it won’t work” and  “fighting terrorists with terrorism will only lead to more terrorism”….

However, Medvedev seems a bit confused and sends conflicting messages:

During a meeting between the president and the leaders of the State Duma factions in the Kremlin on Friday, State Duma Speaker Boris Gryzlov said he believes journalists are not using the word “shahid” correctly. Medvedev said, in response, “I have been to the Caucasus, and our colleagues there are offended by this terminology, saying it’s unacceptable for universal reasons and the ideas of Islam.”

He paid attention to the special place of Islam and Islamic leaders in Caucasus.  “We need to help them and in all ways contribute to strengthening their authority, they have to bear truth,” Medvedev stressed. Interfax Good luck with that!

A Chechen militant leader has claimed responsibility for twin suicide bombings on Moscow’s Metro that killed 39 and wounded scores of others.

In a video statement recorded on Monday, Dokka Abu Usman, the leader of the Islamist “Emirate of the Caucasus”, said the motive for the deadly blasts was revenge. More from JW

We don’t yet know the whole story behind the two female suicide bombers who killed 38 people in Moscow and injured scores of others. Although their affiliation is unclear, the working assumption is that the bombers were tied to the Chechen rebel movement in the North Caucasus.There is, however, something which we do know for sure, and which we paid no attention to despite its clear connection to the kind of terror Moscow witnessed yesterday morning.

There was a little-noted meeting that took place in December 2009, in Tbilisi, the capital of U.S. ally Georgia. That month Georgia hosted a conference of jihadists to plan “operations” against Russia. There was no news coverage of the event, and so it took a paid advertisement in the Washington Times to make it known. Stubbornly, still no news organization or blog picked up on it. And so here we are.

Yes indeed. But all news organizations beat this one up like a dead horse:

Terror attack in Dagestan leaves at least 12 dead and 28 injured, two days after 39 died in Moscow metro blasts

A team of suicide bombers struck again in Russia early this morning following Monday’s devastating attacks on the Moscow metro, killing at least 12 people and injuring 28 others in the unstable southern Caucasus republic of Dagestan.

The bombers targeted the town of Kizlyar on the border with Chechnya.

The first explosion occurred at 8.45am Moscow time when a bomber drove his Niva car towards the headquarters of the local interior ministry.

The driver ignored road police officers who tried to stop the vehicle.

As the officers approached the Niva the car exploded – killing two officers, injuring a third and killing a woman who was walking past, Russia’s interior minister Rashid Nurgaliyev said.

Chechnya wants newborns to be named after Mohammad

MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russia’s Chechnya region asked parents of boys born on Prophet Mohammad’s birthday to name their children after the Muslim prophet, Russian media reported Monday.

Chechnya’s leader Ramzan Kadyrov added that every boy born on March 8 and March 9 will also receive 50,000 roubles ($1,394) — a hefty sum more than double Russia’s average monthly wage.

The Finnish Ministry of Defense has published a report available in English concerning the problems/challenges facing Russia. On page 51 under the heading of “Islam in Russia”, the subject of Russia’s challenges becomes even that much more interesting. It’s the first time I’ve seen a Finnish Ministry report mentioning the possibility of Russia becoming a Muslim majority state. KGS

                    

Islam and Muslims in Russia pose a serious challenge to Russia’s internal stability and domestic policy. After the collapse of the Soviet Union the self-esteem and sense of identity of Russia’s 20 million Muslims have been bolstered. In 1991 there were approximately 300 mosques in Russia; the present number approaches 8 000. Half of the new mosques have been built with foreign financing, mainly from Turkey, Iran and Saudi Arabia. In 1991 there were no Islamic schools in the Russian Federation. Now there are approximately 60 madrassas, attended by some 50 000 students.

Chelyabinsk, Interfax – Eighty percent of Muslim literature published in Russia reflects ideas and principles of wahhabism, islamologist Roman Silantyev said. 

“It contains appeals not to observe laws of non-Muslim states (and Russia is a non-Muslim state), to liquidate peoples with other religious convictions,” Silantyev told journalists at the Chelyabinsk Interfax press center.

According to him, the same can be referred to informational sources as “many of them are financed by wahabis and promote ideas of radical Islam.’

Silantyev believes the key problem is that certain Islamic leaders are identified with all Russian Muslims.

“We often see that a Muslim leader speaks out with radical statements or threats and serve them up as an opinion of the significant part of Muslims. While the reputation of the leader is often questioned,” the islamologist said.

He reminded, “according to the information of Russian general prosecutor’s office, people’s court twice condemned co-chairman of Russia’s Mufti Council Nafigullah Ashirov for robbery and disorderly conduct.”
