A former Guantanamo Bay detainee, Abdullah Salih al Ajmi has been identified as the Al Qaeda operative who conducted a suicide truck bombing in Mosul: Released Guantanamo detainee behind March suicide truck bombing at Combat Outpost Inman in Mosul.

Former Kuwaiti Guantanamo Bay detainee conducts suicide attack in Mosul

Two Kuwaiti al Qaeda operatives who conducted suicide attacks were featured at the end of the video. Abu Omar al Kuwaiti, also known as Badr Mishel Gama’an al Harbi, and Abu Juheiman al Kuwaiti, also known as Abdullah Salih al Ajmi, are both shown on the video, along with their attacks in Mosul, said Kazimi.

Harbi, who claimed to be a “veteran of the jihad in Afghanistan,” conducted a suicide car bomb attack on a police station in Mosul on April 26, 2008.

Ajmi was released from Guantanamo Bay and was searching for “a way to reconnect with the jihad.” He claimed he was tortured while at Guantanamo Bay.

Ajmi “is seemingly responsible for an earlier truck bombing at the Iraqi Army HQ in the Harmat neighborhood of Mosul on March 23, 2008,” said Kazimi. The attack occurred at Combat Outpost Inman, an Iraqi Army base that served as the headquarters for the 1st Battalion, 3rd Brigade of the 2nd Iraqi Army Division.

“Jail for rapes while on bail man”

A man who drugged and raped two women after being granted bail, and intended to rape two more, has been jailed for nine years.

Abdalla Ali Hemed attacked and raped one of his victims less than 24 hours after being granted bail in Aberdeen.

Hemed, 44, a Somalian refugee, was found guilty of the attacks, which happened between 2004 and 2006.

Judge Lord Bracadale told him, at the High Court in Glasgow, that he posed a danger to women.

DUNN St residents are gutted and angry after an appeal to stop a mosque being built in their street was thrown out of court.

The proposed mosque had been the target of intensive opposition from residents and from an anti-Islamic website that was investigated by Australian Federal Police after it called on supporters nationwide to oppose the mosque.

Militants set five girl schools on fire

PESHAWAR — Militants set on fire five girl schools in different places of Matta area of Swat in early hours of yesterday. However, no loss to life was reported.
As per details, the girls at village Chuparyal was set on fire by unknown persons on Tuesday night. Similarly another girls school was torched at Karamar in the same region by unknown militants.

A girls school near the residence of District Nazim Swat in village Joora was destroyed. In Sinjar village, a girls school was also set ablaze. There were similar reports about girls high school in village Bar Shoor and Girls Primary School in Lower Shoor.

Jordan prosecutor charges 3 Muslim militants with plotting to attack Amman church

AMMAN, Jordan: AP Jordan’s military prosecutor has charged three suspected militants of plotting to attack a Roman Catholic church in the Jordanian capital.

The indictment Thursday said the plot was foiled when the group’s mastermind was arrested for speeding outside Amman in May, on the day he planned to carry out the attack. No trial date was set.

If found guilty, the three Jordanians, who are of Palestinian origin, face up to 15 years in jail. One of them remains at large.

The indictment says the three planned to remotely detonate an explosive-laden vehicle during a Sunday mass.

Militants have in the past targeted liquor shops and night clubs — but never churches — in Jordan. Christians make up 4 percent of Jordan’s nearly 6 million people.
