(Note the article featured below says that Butt did this to muslim women – but the original article quoted from last March stated the more general term “women”.) Omer Butt was subsequently found guilty of serious professional misconduct.

Musician defends offensive-to-Muslims Sony game

* Because a loony Muzz complained to Sony that it was ‘unislamic’ to set Koran-verses to music, Sony, in fear of offending Muslims, had to delay a much anticipated game and apologized to Muslims.

The musician behind the Koranic phrases — “Every soul shall have the taste of death” and “All that is on earth will perish” — that have offended Muslims turns out to be a pious Muslim himself, who does not “want anybody to joke with Islam and to not respect Islam.” The plot thickens. The Malian musician whose song is being removed from a Sony video game because of concern it may offend Muslims has denied the music was blasphemous. 

Grammy award-winning Toumani Diabate said the song celebrated the Koran.

Educators signed a petition praising William Ayers as an education reformer whose ties to the domestic terrorist group Weather Underground are just “history.”

More than 3,200 supporters — most of them educators — have signed a petition protesting what they say is the “demonization of Professor William Ayers,” asserting that his violent actions as the co-founder of the Weather Underground were just “history.” 

Barack Obama’s ties to Ayers have been questioned during the presidential campaign by critics who call the professor a “domestic terrorist.”

Among the people who signed the petition are No. 5, Columbia University professor of Arab studies Rashid Khalidi, and No. 814, former University of Colorado at Boulder professor Ward Churchill.

Germany Discovers a War in Afghanistan

For years, Germans have preferred to see their country’s presence in Afghanistan as armed development assistance. That myth is now becoming more difficult to maintain as the violence spreads to the north where the Germans are based.

This attack killed a German soldier in Kabul. Recently, there have been an increasing number of attacks on Germans in northern Afghanistan.

2 German soldiers killed by blast in Afghanistan

German soldiers honor their fallen comrades in Zweibrucken, Germany

KABUL, Afghanistan (Map, News) – An Afghan official says a suicide bomber in northern Afghanistan has killed two German soldiers and five children.

 

The governor of Kunduz province, Mohammad Omar, says two other German soldiers and two children were wounded in the blast Monday.

NATO confirms that some of its soldiers were killed and wounded in the attack in the province’s Chahar Dara district.

Omar says the soldiers were patrolling on foot when the bomber riding a bicycle hit them.
