Back in May of 2009, the US military burned stacks of bibles in Afghanistan, why weren’t we having this conversation then? No one threatened violence against them. Obama did not stand against the bible burning.

In another striking blow to American non-Muslims and freedom of speech, President Obama came out against the qu’ran burning in Florida. A stupid idea, of course but protected under the laws of free speech. The burning of books is wrong in principle: the antidote to bad speech is not censorship or book-burning, but more speech. Open discussion. Give-and-take. And the truth will out. There is no justification for burning books. If Americans are free and not under Sharia, then the church can do this if it wants, and their freedom and rights should be protected. It’s just difficult to imagine a “misunderstanding” arising over such a major point. Jones called off the Qur’an burning for the moment; now the onus ought to be on Imam Muhammad Musri to come clean about what he told Jones. Hopefully, there were witnesses. For something this important, there should have been, and must be in the future to avoid precisely this sort of thing.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The pastor planning to burn Qurans on the Sept. 11 anniversary said Thursday that he had called off the event after being given assurances that the Muslim group seeking to build an Islamic center near the World Trade Center site would move the project.  Jones also said he would travel to New York on Saturday to meet with officials of the mosque project. Jones insisted,  however, that he had spoken to the imam, and “I have his word that he will move the mosque to a different location.”  (MSNBC)

If Obama is against it, Jones must be doing something right:

“This country has been built on the notion of freedom and religious tolerance.”

That’s why Jones ought to be able to do what he wants.

That’s why Jones should burn any damn book he wants to burn.

He could have said, and should have said, that while he disagrees with the idea of burning the Qur’an, he would defend the liberty of Americans and the principle of freedom of expression. He could have said that anyone who murders an innocent person in Pakistan or Afghanistan or anywhere else because of this is entirely responsible for the murder, and Terry Jones and the other Qur’an-burners bear no responsibility for the actions of others. He could have said that to threaten violence and to commit acts of violence because of this is irrational, it’s madness — and, for that matter, it confirms the image of Islam as a religion of violence that Obama himself is so anxious to refute.

Instead, he surrendered American principles and semaphored once again that violent intimidation works.

I am a Dutch citizen and extremely worried about the ultra rightwing upcoming of morons like Rev.Terry Jones.I saw him this morning on BBC 1 and listening to him I found a S.African accent,is he a S.African? In the Netherlands we also have a MP Geert Wilders who is send by Israel’s zionists as Mr.Lieberman is a great friend of his.They all talk about freedom why is it not so that freedom is not for Moslims? We live in a very dangerous world.Israel is a great threat to worldpeace.

Conservatives playing into hands of MSM narrative over “Burn a Koran Day”

Why has this issue gotten so much attention? The ONLY news that should have EVER gotten attention is not “Burn a Koran Day”, it’s the REACTION of Islamists threatening suicide bombings over this stupid publicity stunt.

But instead, we are out in full force not paying any attention to the EXTREME reaction to it, but rather the act itself.

Flashback # 2: TWO Muslim students have been expelled from an Islamic school in Melbourne for urinating and spitting on a Bible and setting it on fire.

Back in June, four Christians were arrested in Michigan for passing out leaflets at an Arab festival. Remember this? The Christians were arraigned and are being represented by the same brilliant legal team that brought my free speech lawsuit against Detroit, the Thomas More Law Center.

Yesterday, Muslims were proselytizing and passing out Islamic leaflets at a fair in Minnesota. The AP plays it this way: Muslims Take to Minn. State Fair to Repair Image.   The police did nothing. Why two sets of rules for Muslims and non-Muslims? Sharia rules America now?

But it gets worse, much worse:

Note first of all the conflation of “anti-Muslim rhetoric” with actual crimes like the stabbing of the taxi driver and the fire at the mosque in Tennessee, despite the fact that those who are speaking out against the jihad and Islamic supremacism have consistently disavowed and opposed violence and vigilantism. Note also the hysterical reaction to the Qur’an burning in Florida. This illustrates what I have noted here many times: Islamic supremacists want and need hate crimes against Muslims, as they will attempt to use them to shut down all legitimate opposition to the jihad and Islamic supremacism, and to tar all their opponents as advocates of violence and hatred.

It is likely that this appeal, although the DOJ made no official comment, fell on fertile ground in the Obama Justice Department, given Obama’s long-standing tendency to appoint foes of the freedom of speech to influential positions: Kagan, Sotomayor, Koh, Sunstein, Genachowski, etc. etc. etc.
