Members of the Libyan military defected today and liberated the people of Benghazi.

Members of a Libyan army unit have told Benghazi residents they have defected and “liberated” the city from pro-Gaddafi forces.

Last night Choudary, 43, said: “The event is a rally, a call for the Sharia, a call for the Muslims to rise up and establish the Islamic state in America.

“This is a unique event taking place in Washington, outside the White House which, Inshallah, (God willing) will garner huge support.

To date the most egregious attack on a foreign journalist in Cairo’s Tahrir Square took place last Friday when CBS’s senior foreign correspondent Lara Logan was sexually assaulted and brutally beaten by a mob of Egyptian men. Her own network CBS took several days to even report the story and when it did, it left out important information. The fact that Logan was brutalized for 20 to 30 minutes and that her attackers screamed out “Jew, Jew, Jew,” as they ravaged her was absent from the CBS report and from most other follow-on reports in the US media.

The media’s treatment of Logan’s victimization specifically and its treatment of the wide-scale mob violence against foreign reporters in Cairo generally tells us a great deal about the nature of today’s media discourse. (Source)

Below is a (typically deluded) CNN editorial calling for a women’s “revolution” in Egypt, following the incident in which CBS reporter Lara Logan was savagely assaulted to cries of “Jew! Jew!” The author blames the situation on the broader problem for “human rights” in Egypt (which full-bore Sharia isn’t going to help), but that is nowhere near the whole story.

OPPOSITION Leader Tony Abbott has been forced (“forced?” By whom?) to dissociate himself from controversial remarks by his shadow parliamentary secretary Cory Bernardi, who said he was ”against Islam”.

”There are Islamic extremists just as there are other extremists that are a problem in a tolerant and pluralistic society. In suggesting that Islam itself is the problem, Cory does not represent my views.”

You know you are lying Tony. We don’t have a problem with “extremists”. The world has a problem with Islam!

He forgot to mention ‘genocidal’.

Senator Bernardi, one of the party’s most prominent rightwingers, said on radio that, in the past decade or two, there had been ”an increasing indulgence of people who are pursuing an ideology and a values system that is at complete odds with Western society and with Western culture”. If he said he was against Islam, Senator Bernardi said, ”I’m called a racist or a bigot.”

Asked whether Mr Abbott had tried to stop him from expressing his views, Senator Bernardi said: “He certainly hasn’t”.

He said that “Islam is the problem – it’s not Muslims. Muslims are individuals that practise their faith in their own way. But Islam is a totalitarian political and religious ideology. It tells people everything about how they need to conduct themselves, who they are allowed to marry and how they are allowed to treat other people.”

Mr Abbott said last night: ”There are Islamic extremists just as there are other extremists that are a problem in a tolerant and pluralistic society. In suggesting that Islam itself is the problem, Cory does not represent my views.”

No one in his right mind can vote for  this jelly bean. What do you believe in, Tony?

The latest embarrassment follows a damaging week for the opposition, which started with a furore over comments from its immigration spokesman Scott Morrison objecting to the government flying relatives from Christmas Island to Sydney for the funerals of asylum seekers who drowned late last year.

This was followed by a leak alleging Mr Morrison had suggested at a shadow cabinet meeting that the opposition capitalise on public sentiment against Muslim immigration.

Funny how no one says Japan needs to become a melting pot/multicult. No one says China, Africa, Korea, Taiwan, Mexico, Haiti, Saudi Arabia, should be deluged with massive random, foreign populations to demonstrate how “moral” they are, or to enrich their sorely lacking culture.

So what is it, that is so special about all white countries, even the crushingly poor ones like those in Eastern Europe, that they and only they, must become melting pots/multi cultural?

Channel 7’s Mark Riley went out of his way to ambush Tony Abbott and get this “foregiveness” shot to avert some of the furious public criticism he was getting over his deceptive “shit happens” sliming of the Opposition Leader:

The Seven journalist, who has received hundreds of abusive emails and phone calls and been vilified on social media and blog sites, said it was time to draw a line under the incident.
TONY Abbott and Seven Network political editor Mark Riley have kissed and made up, putting behind them the controversy over the Opposition Leader’s “shit happens” remark….

Riley badly needed that embrace, and I’ve castigated Abbott for his excessive Christianity in forgiving without demanding an apology.

Turns out I was right not to trust Riley an inch. Far from being apologetic, his network is now running promos for its news service which star Riley and footage of his same disgraceful “shit happens” stitch-up.

Beyond slimy.

(Online Poker News via ZIP) — Following Egypt President Hosni Mubarak’s forced resignation from office a week ago, one of the biggest concern was that religious groups would gain control in the country before democracy even had a chance to grow.

Although still early days, a series of targeted attacks on some of Cairo’s most famous casinos has signalled a possible shift to religious intolerance in Egypt’s troubled capital city.

Over a week’s period, the Europa, the Arizona, the Andalous, the Gandool and the Ramses have all come under attack by gangs of rioters hell bent on destroying these businesses.

For instance, on Tuesday the Europa Egypt hotel was attacked by “about 1,000 young guys” who either destroyed or pillaged property from the establishment, while a little earlier the Ramses casino was firebombed causing two fatalities.

As these attacks continue, “the ones with the beards”, as a policeman described them, were largely being blamed for the attacks on casinos labelled “dens of vice” by Muslim theologians.

Your discomfort might start when the programme introduces Sheikh Ibrahim Mogra thus:

“He works for an organisation seeking to promote a distinct Muslim identity in tune with British cultural norms and values.”

No mention of that “organisation” being the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB). The same MCB that, in March 2009, the last government severed all ties with in response to its deputy general secretary, Dr Daud Abdullah, signing the Istanbul declaration, a public declaration of support for Hamas and call for violence against the British Royal Navy and Jewish communities.

It gets worse. Much, much worse. The next ‘witness for the prosecution of Wilders’ featured is Sheikh Khalid Yasin. He is introduced thus:

“Sheikh Kalid Yasim is an American Muslim teacher extremely popular among young European Muslims, he has embarked on a mission to de radicalise them.”

“De radicalize” them?
