Ah, yes, the “general will.” For this, every modern totalitarian movement is indebted to the 18th-century Genevan philosopher who claimed, in The Social Contract, that a man’s compulsory servitude to the state — the embodiment of this general will — “means nothing less than that he will be forced to be free.” Rousseau was what we today call “Orwellian” long before there was an Orwell. “Freedom” was nothing more than submission.

That is why Rousseau so admired Islam.

I despise Qaddafi as much as anyone, since he bombed Marines at a German disco and initiated the Pan Am 103 bombing over Lockerbie Scotland (an operation which was taken over by the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine – General Command).  And I’ve attacked him ad nauseam on this site and elsewhere over the decades. But if you think he’s worse than the extremists who will surely replace him, you’re a moron and simply know absolutely zero about the Middle East and the Islamic world.  In every single place–including Iraq–where we’ve gotten involved and urged “democratic elections” and the toppling of dictators, it’s been a disaster.  Every single place:  Iran, Gaza, Lebanon, Egypt, Iraq.  And if you like those, you’ll love a post-Qaddafi Libya.  That’s why the CAIR Action Network and HAMAS folks love it.  Why can’t we take that giant hint?      Read the rest of this entry »

King must be taken aback that Muslim groups are still railing against the hearings. Organizers have bent over backwards after bullying from CAIR to purge the schedule of speakers that might not hew to the line that Islam is a Religion of Peace victimized by “hijackers” from within and Islamophobes from without.

Indeed, CAIR doth protest too much. And Muslim groups in America have shown more outrage and a greater capacity to mobilize over King’s hearings than over any attempted or successful jihadist atrocity.
