France fights against Macron’s global warming policy
Across the west, the politicians are losing control of the people. Five weeks of violent riots in France against President Emmanuel Macron are just the most extreme example.
But look also at Britain, with the Prime Minister discredited. Germany, with a Chancellor forced to announce she’ll step down. The United States, a political circus.
Look even at Australia, with public disgust growing after the sacking of four elected Prime Ministers in eight years — three of those PMs crippled after pushing their global warming agenda too hard.
Different countries, different causes. But there are also similarities: communities have fragmented, authority is collapsing and tribalism growing.
More startling, the political class has got drunk on its internationalism, making more citizens feel that their homes are under threat — and precisely from those meant to represent them.
Result: weak leaders facing near-revolutions.
