An explosion rocked Sri Lanka as police opened fire at a ‘suicide vest factory’ during a raid on suspected terrorists linked to the Easter Sunday massacre.
Shooting erupted between security forces and a group of men in the east of the country during a search and cordon operation related to the Easter Sunday attacks, a military spokesman said.
The raid took place in the town of Sainthamaruthu near Batticaloa, 200 miles from Colombo, where three explosions were reported.
Several of the terror suspects blew themselves up as the authorities opened fire, according to Ada Derana.

Five victims of a Saudi mass execution were gay lovers, according to a confession which appeared at their Sharia court trial.
One of the 37 men beheaded on Tuesday allegedly admitted to having sex with four of his co-accused ‘terrorists,’ but many complained at trial their confessions were obtained through torture.
The Shia man’s homosexual relationships appeared in lines alleging he confessed to hating the state and the Sunni sect, the court documents obtained by CNN showed.
Homosexuality is punishable by death in the Gulf state which adheres to Sharia law.

Note the phoney proclamations: ‘we condemn terrorism in whatever form’, which actually means ‘resisting Islam is terror’.
Security forces are not needed to defend the mosques — they should be used to hold the worshippers at gunpoint to reduce the chances of additional Islamic terrorism.
You can’t tell me that nobody in any of those mosques knew the attacks were coming.
Sri Lanka deployed thousands of security forces on Friday to protect mosques and other worshipping centers across the island nation against potential retaliatory violence in the wake of the jihadi suicide bombings against Christians on Easter Sunday.
President Maithripala Sirisena granted the military sweeping police powers after the bombings.
The deployment of security forces to protect mosques and other religious centers came after the country’s now-deposed defense minister, Hemasiri Fernando, reportedly claimed it would have been “impossible” to protect the Christians targeted by the jihadis despite receiving prior intelligence about the attacks.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan this week justified the Armenian genocide, arguing that deportation of the Christian group by the Ottoman Empire in 1915 that ultimately led to mass killings was “reasonable.”
April 24 is the anniversary of the genocide, when much of the world honors the over 1.5 million Armenians killed between 1915 and 1923. The Ottoman Empire also ethnically cleansed Turkey of Assyrians and Greeks in that time. Turkey has yet to apologize for the killings or even acknowledge them as a genocide, and its government condemns those who do.
According to John Allen, there are no signs that violent Christian persecution will be dying down any time soon.
If states were serious about combating Christian persecution, Allen suggests, they would promote “systematic education in religious tolerance” as well as instituting “aggressive security measures at Christian sites on major feast days.”

At the centre of the plot that has devastated the peaceful Southeast Asian nation are two brothers, according to reports. They were the sons of a rich spice merchant, and they lived in one of the most lavish mansions in their wealthy suburb in Colombo.
The mastermind of the suicide bomb plot is now believed to have been Inshaf Ibrahim, in his 30s, who owned a copper factory. He is said to have detonated his own explosive device at the Shangri-La hotel, by the busy breakfast buffet, a source close to the family told reporters.
When the lavish and sprawling Ibrahim home was raided shortly afterwards, the pregnant wife of one of the brothers was in the home wearing a suicide vest, [Sri Lanka’s Deputy Defence Minister Ruwan Wijewardene said].
As police arrived, the woman reportedly detonated the vest, killing herself, her two children and three police officers.

Politicians of the Left had no trouble saying last month’s attack on two Christchurch mosques was an attack on Muslims.
But they have lots of trouble saying the attack on three Sri Lankan churches on Easter Sunday was an attack on Christians.
Is there clearer evidence of the Left’s fear of offending Muslims and its dishonest refusal to admit there’s a war against Christians?
When a lone white racist killed 50 Muslims in Christchurch, Greens leader Richard Di Natale tweeted: “We stand with the Muslim community.”
But when Muslim terrorists murdered 359 people at three churches and several hotels on Christianity’s holiest day, Di Natale refused to even acknowledge Christians were the target.
Barely an hour after the flames began to rise above Notre Dame — at a time when no explanation could be provided by anyone — the French authorities rushed to say that the fire was an “accident” and that “arson has been ruled out.” The remarks sounded like all the official statements made by the French government after attacks in France during the last decade.
The Notre Dame fire also occurred at a time when attacks against churches in France and Europe have been multiplying. More than 800 churches were attacked in France during the year 2018 alone.
Churches in France are empty. The number of priests is decreasing and the priests that are active in France are either very old or come from Africa or Latin America. The dominant religion in France is now Islam. Every year, churches are demolished to make way for parking lots or shopping centers. Mosques are being built all over, and they are full.
