NEW YORK (CBS News) ―The joint FBI-Homeland Security bulletin, obtained by CBS News today, bluntly warns that terrorists are still working to use “modified footwear as a concealment method for explosive devices,” CBS News correspondent Bob Orr reports.

The alert follows the discovery of bomb detonators – expertly hidden in the hollowed-out soles of this pair of shoes – found aboard a European bus last month.

Intelligence officials say the shoes were not being worn at the time, but instead were being used, as the document says, “to smuggle electric blasting caps across international borders for use in a terrorist attack.”

“The terrorists have an interest in explosive devices. They are trying to figure out the best way to push them, to move them through the system,” said CBS News counterterrorism analyst Paul Kurtz.

Shoes have been used by terrorists before.

Three months after 9/11, al Qaeda operative Richard Reid tried to blow up an American Airlines jet with a shoe bomb similar to the one shown in this test.

Now at U.S. airports, scanners X-ray all passengers’ shoes and carry on bags, searching for explosives.

SOLO, Indonesia – Even as Indonesia has gained the upper hand against religiously-inspired extremism, the spiritual mentor behind the Bali bombings, Abu Bakar Ba’asyir, says he is confident that both time and Allah are on his side. He says that events across the Islamic world are conspiring to destroy the “crusade” of his greatest enemy, United States President George W Bush.

“Bush is a very stubborn man,” says Ba’asyir, reclining in a white shirt and plaid waist wrap on a couch in the reception hall of his religious boarding school, al-Mukhmin, a series of dingy concrete classrooms set on the grounds of a former commune in Central Java. “Bush doesn’t really know that he is losing this war and this is one of Allah’s ways of undermining his crusade to destroy Islam,” he adds.

Indonesia: Radical Muslim cleric cautions Bush against ‘crusade’

Jakarta, 25 Oct. (AKI) – The alleged spiritual leader of Jemaah Islamiyah, Southeast Asia’s largest terrorist group, has revealed he wrote a letter to US President George W. Bush, asking him not to use God’s name to destroy Islam.

In an interview with the online site Asia Times, Muslim cleric, Abu Bakar Bashir, also called on Muslims to fight Washington with words and not with violence and bombs.

But he also declined to condemn the terrorists convicted of the 2002 Bali bombing which killed 202 people.

“The bombers are actually counter terrorists because they are opposing US terrorism,” he said. “They are mujahids.”

Bashir did not specify when he wrote to the US president. He did, however, say he had asked Bush to abandon his ‘War on Terror’ and convert to the Muslim faith.

“The only way Bush can survive is for him to do what is being ordered by God, which is to believe in Islam, to convert to Islam,” said Bashir.

The controversial religious leader claimed the US was spreading the message that all terrorists are Islamists, and that all Muslims who fight for sharia [Islamic law] are being stigmatised, arrested and imprisoned.

“America is instigating a war of ideas, therefore we should fight back with our own war of thoughts, issues, preaching,” the cleric said.

“What we try to do is counter the lies, break down the lies.This activity in and of itself is much more productive and efficient than bombing.”

Bashir said that although Indonesian bombers’ intentions were “right,” their methods were “wrong.” He then argued that bombing ‘safe’ places such as Bali and the Marriot hotel in Jakarta gave ammunition to the Americans.

“When events occur, they (are) taken as justification by the government and US,” he said. “It is easy for them (Islamists) to become prey to US efforts to stigmatise all Muslims.”

Bashir, aged 69, was released from prison in 2006 after serving two years in Jakarta’s Cipinang penitentiary for conspiracy in the 2002 Bali bombings.

His conviction was later overturned in appeal. He has consistently denied any connection to that or other attacks blamed on JI, whose objective is the creation of a caliphate in the region.

He has also often denied the mere existence of the terror group. The cleric is on a US list of terrorists.

Sunday the 21th October was not only a severe attack on freedom of speech but an attempt to close the mouth forever on an organisation who stands up for freedom, freedom of speech and for democracy. Small details were the reason why it didn’t ended up with murder like in Holland, on one of the brave advocate’s for freedom of expression who dare to stand in the frontline.

2-5 sek. after there was a loud bang and the frontwindow was damaged. About two autonomous looking types were in the front and two on ecah sites smashing the site windows shouting Get him out get him out! and started hitting Anders and the SIAD passenger in the other site with ironbars. The SIAD member in the middle (foto) was hit of a thrown filled soda bottle in her backhead.

Anders succeded after a while to kick one of the autonomous hard in the face as he leaned in to unlock the door. Anders mananged to get out with a fire extinguisher from the van and hit another one hard on the shoulder. It remained later that they attemted to stab him down when there was found cut holes in the shirt, jacket and vest. Anders was wearing his securityvest which saved his life.

Turkish Mosque’s Chief Threatens Violent Revolt in Amsterdam

THE HAGUE — If Amsterdam city council bars construction of the Westermoskee mosque, a great demonstration of Turks from throughout Europe will be held. The possibility of this degenerating into violence cannot be ruled out, the Turkish organisation Milli Gorus warns.

The controversial Westermoskee in Amsterdam will be built come what may, said Fatih Dag of the Turkish mosque organisation in Trouw newspaper. If the government blocks its building, Milli Gorus will call on Turks throughout the whole of Europe to demonstrate. Dag hopes this would be a peaceful procession, but fears it could get out of hand. “Our people are emotional and someone crazy can just be walking among them,” he said in the newspaper.

Amsterdam politicians advised against the building of the new Westermoskee in the 1990s for fears of the orthodox course, but after much lobbying, the project was last year dubbed a symbol of integration by the then Justice Minster Donner, who laid the foundation-stone. Last week, it was made known that municipal authorities and Milli Gorus had suspended their cooperation on the building anyway.

If the licence for the mosque is definitively withdrawn, this would be “extremely foolish,” warns Dag. “I will then immediately call for a demonstration. If every Milli Gorus mosque in Europe sends a bus, it will certainly be busy. I have not tipped off Al Jazeera, but they will certainly get wind of it, and I will speak to them. That will go out to the entire Arabic world, cross my heart. All Muslims have a satellite dish, so they will see that a beautiful project for Muslims is being forbidden here.”

“Do not forget”, added Dag in Trouw, “that we began the project with a number of Turks, but with all the hindrance, it has now become a matter for many Muslims throughout the Netherlands. I expect a revolt among them, naturally within the legal boundaries, but still: Our people are more emotional than you Europeans. And there can be a crazy person among them.”

But even in a nation that seemingly needed little reminder of the dastardly attack on Pearl Harbor or the evils of the Nazis, they kept drilling home the message that we must persevere no matter the costs or the duration.

Critics have labeled the new movie “Rendition” a “political thriller.” Whether it thrills or not is subjective. But “political”? Absolutely. It’s merely the latest in an unbroken series of major films about the war on terror that range from those seeking to assure us that Islamist terrorism isn’t the threat we might think, to those depicting the terrorists as no worse than those who fight them — and by implication the American people as a whole.

For the sake of free speech, British organisations should confront pro-Israel bullies, not appease them.

The newest and least attractive import from America, following on behind Coca-Cola, McDonald’s and Friends, is the pro-Israel lobby. The latest target of this US-style campaign is the august Oxford Union.

This week, two Israeli colleagues and I were due to appear at the union to participate in an important debate on the one-state solution in Israel-Palestine. Also invited was the American Jewish scholar and outspoken critic of Israel, Norman Finkelstein. At the last minute, however, the union withdrew its invitation to him, apparently intimidated by threats from various pro-Israel groups.

The Harvard Jewish lawyer and indefatigable defender of Israel, Alan Dershowitz, attacked the topic of the debate as well as the Oxford Union itself. In an article headlined “Oxford Union is dead”, he accused it of having become “a propaganda platform for extremist views”, and castigated its choice of what he termed anti-Israel and anti-semitic speakers.

Yet Dershowitz could have restored the balance as he saw it; he was the first person invited by the Oxford Union to oppose the motion but he declined due, as he put it, to “the terms of the debate and my proposed teammates”.

On Saturday the rightwing People’s party, notorious for its virulent hostility to ethnic minorities and Muslims, emerged as the victor in the Swiss elections, taking 29% of the vote, the best electoral performance by a party in the country’s elections since 1919.

The former mufti of Jerusalem, Ikrema Sabri, has made the claim that there never was a Jewish temple on the Temple Mount, and the Western Wall was really part of a mosque.

“There was never a Jewish temple on Al-Aksa [the mosque compound] and there is no proof that there was ever a temple,” he told The Jerusalem Post via a translator. “Because Allah is fair, he would not agree to make Al-Aksa if there were a temple there for others beforehand.”

Sabri rejected Judaism’s claim to the Western Wall as part of the outer wall of the Second Temple.

“The wall is not part of the Jewish temple. It is just the western wall of the mosque,” he said. “There is not a single stone with any relation at all to the history of the Hebrews.”

* If Sabri could read perhaps he would know that every stone in Jerusalem has ‘Israel’ written all over it.

Asked if Jews would ever be allowed to pray on the Temple Mount under Muslim control, he replied: “It is not the Temple Mount, you must say Al-Aksa. And no Jews have the right to pray at the mosque. It was always only a mosque – all 144 dunams, the entire area. No Jewish prayer. If the Jews want real peace, they must not do anything to try to pray on Al-Aksa. Everyone knows that.”

“Zionism tries to trick the Jews claiming that this was part of a Jewish temple, but they dug there and they found nothing,” Sabri added.

Archeologists overseeing Islamic infrastructure work on the Mount announced this week that they had unveiled a sealed archeological level dating back to the First Temple period.

The First Temple was built by King Solomon in the 10th century BCE, and destroyed by the Babylonians in 586 BCE. The Second Temple was built 70 years later, enlarged during the first century BCE by Herod, and destroyed by the Romans in the year 70.

The controversial issue of the holy sites is expected to come up during negotiations ahead of a US-sponsored summit on the Middle East in Annapolis later this year.

Palestinian leaders, most notably the late Yasser Arafat, have consistently denied Jewish claims to the Mount.

Fitzgerald: Temple? What Temple?

This is perfectly consonant with the Islamic worldview. The earth belongs to Allah and His Messenger Muhammad — which means, in human terms, those who are the Believers in Allah and that Messenger. Everyone else must either convert, be killed, or in some cases be permitted to live, but only in a condition of permanent humiliation, degradation, and physical insecurity, as “dhimmis.”

Nothing else has value. Nothing else is of interest. And since everyone since time began — a nice bit of backdating — is in the Muslim view born a Muslim, but for one reason or another falls away (talk about a bad environment!) — every claim by those of other faiths are meaningless.

Sometimes you smash the Bamiyan Buddhas, when you can finally get the right dynamite, after a thousand years of smashing Buddhist stupas, and Hindu temples, all over Asia. Sometimes you turn a church, or many churches, into foundations for mosques (see the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus), or turn the whole thing, merely by adding minarets, into a mosque (see the Hagia Sophia), taking care to break off all the crosses and vandalizing any pictures that depict persons. Sometimes you simply deny the claim altogether, as in the case of the Temple Mount.

This statement is not a strange one. It is one that almost every single “Palestinian” and for that matter, if asked, hundreds of millions of Muslims, would agree with. It is the “Palestinians” who own the Land of Israel. It is they who were always there, since time immemorial, tilling the soil. Nothing about Israel has anything to do with Jews or with Christians. It is a Muslim land. It became, of course, a Muslim “land” when Muslims conquered it, and let it fall into ruin and desolation — but it was still a Muslim “land” no matter how indifferent Muslims were to it, except as a place important, as a holy land, to Jews and to Christians, who therefore must be denied any claim to it, or any right to live in it, or even to visit it without strict permission of their Muslim masters.

Oklahoma lawmakers object to gift of Qurans, return their copies to advisory panel

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – A gift intended to promote diversity in Oklahoma is generating controversy instead.

Several state lawmakers are returning copies of the Quran to a state panel on diversity after one lawmaker claimed the Muslim holy book condones the killing of innocent people.

In a letter to colleagues, state Representative Rex Duncan says “most Oklahomans do not endorse the idea of killing innocent women and children in the name of ideology.” At least 17 other legislators have notified the Governor’s Ethnic American Advisory Council that they too will return the gift.

Italy: Eighth mosque attacked in northern region of Lombardy

Rome, 25 Oct. (AKI) – A mosque in a small town outside Milan has been the target of a violent attack – the eighth on mosques in the region of Lombardy surrounding the city.

Italian media reports said the Alif Baa Islamic Centre, in the northern Italian city of Abbiategrasso, 20 kilometres west of Milan, was subjected to fresh violence on Wednesday.

Another mosque in the nearby city of Segrate was attacked on 5 August and the car of the Imam, Hamid Zariate, was destroyed.

The Islamic community of Abbiategrasso is considered to be one of the most integrated in northern Italy. It is also the hometown of the Italian missionary, Giancarlo Bossi, kidnapped by Philippino rebels in the south of the country in June and released after a month of captivity.

“There is a need for dialogue among religions,” said Bossi.

“Whoever committed this act is a fanatic who does not respect a sacred place.”

Italy: Minister to present ‘charter of values’ to Muslims

Rome, 24 Oct. (AKI) – Italy’s interior minister Giuliano Amato will visit Rome’s mosque on Friday to present to Muslims a ‘Charter of Values for Citizenship and Integration’.

“It is the first public presentation of this important document,” the director of Italy’s Islamic Cultural Centre, Abdullah Redouane, said in a statement.

“Developed in consultation with various religious and civil society representatives, it establishes the principles for the harmonious integration in Italian society of non-Catholic communities.”

Amato, Redouane, and the Rome mosque’s imam Alaa Din al-Goobashi will be among those attending Friday’s presentation of the charter.

The document, which has symbolic rather than legal value, is aimed at immigrants belonging to Muslim and other faiths. The government plans to distribute it in immigrants’ centres, schools, and places of worship in Italy.

Italian authorities are also considering making the charter available in Italian embassies and consulates abroad, as well as in Italian offices that issue immigrants with permits of stay, residency and visas.

The charter was prepared by an interior ministry committee of experts following consultations with members of the Muslim, Protestant, Romanian and Russian Orthodox communities in Italy, the ItalianBishops Conference (CEI), immigrant groups and charities that assist immigrants.

The idea of a charter outlining common values to be subscribed by Muslims was first launched by Amato in August 2006.

It came after Italy’s largest Muslim group, the Union of Islamic Communities in Italy (UCOII) published an advertisement in several newspapers likening Israel’s actions in the July War against Lebanon and in the Palestinian territories to Nazi atrocities during World War II.

At the suggestion of Muslim groups, the charter’s scope was subsequently broadened to include other immigrant communities in Italy.

Nato has “lost in Afghanistan” and its failure to bring stability there could provoke a regional sectarian war “on a grand scale”, according to Lord Ashdown.

The former United Nations High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina delivered his dire prediction after being proposed as a new “super envoy” role in Afghanistan.

Lord Ashdown said: “We have lost, I think, and success is now unlikely.”

The assessment will be considered extreme by some diplomats but timely by those pressing for more resources for Nato operations.

Lord Ashdown added: “I believe losing in Afghanistan is worse than losing in Iraq. It will mean that Pakistan will fall and it will have serious implications internally for the security of our own countries and will instigate a wider Shiite [Shia], Sunni regional war on a grand scale.

“Some people refer to the First and Second World Wars as European civil wars and I think a similar regional civil war could be initiated by this [failure] to match this magnitude.”

Lord Ashdown, 66, the former leader of the Liberal Democrats, was speaking in advance of a Nato summit in the Dutch town of Noordwijk yesterday.

Yusuf El-Badry — religious scholar, former parliamentarian and onetime mosque preacher in Patterson, New Jersey — is using Egypt’s courts to promote his strict interpretation of Islam. He has become a courtroom celebrity, appearing regularly on Egyptian and Arabic satellite TV shows, and some see him as a defender of Islam … He is currently seeking to reverse Egypt’s ban on on female circumcision that came after the high-profile death of a 14-year-old girl undergoing the procedure. “The decision to criminalize circumcision means criminalizing something from Islam,” he bellowed in court. Mr. El-Badry won international fame when he spearheaded a case against Nasr Hamed Abu Zeid, a university professor he accused of heresy and apostasy. The judge ruled in his favor and ordered the professor to divorce his non-Muslim wife, but Mr. Abu Zeid and his wife fled to the Netherlands.

The situation in Belgium does not differ significantly from the situation in other Western European countries, except for the fact that it might be worse here than elsewhere because Belgium is an artificial state without a national identity to defend.

Belgium, like the rest of Europe, is confronted with welfare immigration. Most immigrants in Belgium are Muslims from Morocco. There is also a significant number of Turkish immigrants.

The overwhelming majority of the Muslim immigrants did not come to Belgium as so-called “guest workers” in the 1960s and 70s. They arrived since the 1980s purely for the purpose of claiming benefits. They sympathize with the parties of the Left. This is the very reason why the socialist Belgian establishment has given them the right to vote.

In Antwerp, the Socialist Mayor Leona Detiège defended the policy of granting citizenships (and the subsequent right to participate in the elections) to as many immigrants as possible, on the grounds that the indigenous Flemings are – quote – “politically overrepresented as the immigrants are not allowed to vote” – unquote.

Belgium is confronted with the phenomenon of Islamo-socialism – an alliance between Muslims and the Socialist Party leadership. The latter has seen its traditional blue-collar voters flock to conservative parties, such as ours, and hopes to find a new electoral base.

This strategy has worked. In last year’s local elections in Belgium the immigrant vote tipped the balance in favour of the Left.
In Brussels more than one fifth of the municipal councillors are now immigrants of non-European origin. Most of them are Muslims, and most of them have been elected as Socialists, though many have also been welcomed as Christian-Democrat trade unionists on the lists of the Christian-Democrat Party.

In the Brussels borough of Sint-Joost-ten-Node 11 of the 16 Socialist municipal councillors are non-European immigrants, as are 4 of the 5 Christian-Democrats, 2 of the 3 Liberals.

In Antwerp one third of the Socialist councillors are Muslims, as are one third of the Christian-Democrat councillors. According to the Marxist sociologist Jan Hertogen – quote – “The immigrants saved democracy in Belgium” – unquote. Hertogen calculated that if the franchise had not been extended to immigrants my party, the Vlaams Belang, would have polled over 40 per cent in Antwerp instead of 33.5 per cent.

In other towns the situation is similar. In Ghent, one quarter of the Socialist councillors are Muslims. In Vilvoorde, a Flemish town 20 km north of Brussels, half the Socialist representatives are Muslims.

The authorities turn a blind eye tot the radicals because they want to buy the Muslim vote and the radicals control the Muslim population. The Socialists even help the radicals in their efforts to control the Muslim population.

Last year, immediately after the elections, the Antwerp city council sacked Marij Uijt den Bogaard, an Antwerp civil servant who worked in the immigrant neighbourhoods. Uijt den Bogaard witnessed how Salafist extremists were taking over these neighbourhoods and wrote alarming reports for the city authorities about the growing radicalization. This brought her into conflict, both with the Islamists and her bosses in the city.

The city warned her that her reports were unacceptable and that she had to – quote – “change her attitude” – unquote.
When she persisted, she was sacked and her job was given to a radical Salafist. The latter now works for the city, supervising 25 Antwerp Moroccan mosques.

LGF is as anti-jihad as anyone on the web; but I do not accept that we’ve reached the point where we should embrace these kinds of people as allies, simply because they’re hitching a ride on the bandwagon and saying the right things when the spotlight is on them.

I’m in this fight because I believe in personal freedom and liberty, and these links and photographs raise more than warning signs to me. They raise the hairs on the back of my neck.

The rapid Islamisation of Europe must be fought. In order to fight it, political parties must be engaged. If not, how then to effect change?

I will make the case for the Europeans desperate to save their country(s). I did research (and continue to) and see the ghosts but VB or more particularly the Swedish Democrats have done nothing in recent years that I need to worry about. The Swedish Democrats have had their purge a few years ago and are now clean. I see a pattern of such transformations in several European countries. If they want to become respectable, pro-Israel, I am thrilled to be part of the process.

Mumbling on about “extremism,” “radicalism,” “Islamism,” etc. only serves to obscure what is really going on. I even had to dissent from the term “Islamo-Fascism,” which, while it helpfully indicates the repressive political agenda of the Islamic supremacists, nonetheless gives the impression that we are dealing with a sort of bastard love-child of Sayyid Qutb and Benito Mussolini. Schoolboy stabbed by Moroccan ‘youth’s’

Tonight (Wednesday evening) heavy rioting erupted in Turkish quarters of Brussels, the capital of Belgium. Several cars were torched and shops destroyed. Police forces were unable to restore law and order in the boroughs of Sint-Joost-ten-Node and Schaarbeek where since last Sunday the animosity among Turks is running high. Turkish flags are omnipresent. In some streets the Turkish crescent and star adorns almost every house.
The Turks’ anger was provoked by rising tension with Kurds along the Iraqi-Turkish border and by the debate in the American Congress about the Turkish genocide of the Armenians in 1915. On Sunday night Turkish youths in Sint-Joost destroyed the pub of Peter Petrossian, an ethnic Armenian who had to flee for his life. Apparently, some Turks think that by attacking the Armenians in Brussels they can convince the world that the Turks never committed a genocide of the Armenians.

Today a 15-year old Amsterdam schoolboy was stabbed by youths.

The boy survived the attack but is seriously wounded. On 11 October a 16-year old Amsterdam boy was stabbed to death in school. On 4 September a similar incident occurred in the Belgian city of Ghent where a 14-year old Belgian boy fought for his life after being stabbed in the throat by two immigrant youths from his school.

Yet More Car-b-ques in Amsterdam

* The mainstream media are completely ignoring it, but the car torchings are continuing in Amsterdam. Klein Verzet has the news that the Dutch government is apparently trying to suppress.

Did it seem that the ‘Dutch Intifada’ had died down on Monday morning, with no cars set alight in the night of Sunday to Monday, last night it happened again (NL). Three cars were set on fire by ‘rioters’ in the Amsterdam burrough of Osdorp, neighboring Slotervaart (see map).

Needless to say that the perpetrators of this wanton destruction of property are still at large. But what is interesting is a rather offhand remark, made in the reporting of Amsterdam TV station AT5 (now redacted out), that the firemen extinguishing the fores were escorted by police on motorcycles and riot police (NL).

That remark actually raises more questions then it answers. Were these escorts by riot police necessary? Or precautionary? Have the fire brigades in recent days become the target of the Amsterdam ‘youth’, like so many emergency services in France and in Sweden (to name just a few examples)? But if that is the case: Why haven’t we heard about this harassment?

One would be forgiven for feeling that the Amsterdam authorities are doing everything within their power to control the flow of information around the goings on in Slotervaart and surroundings. They give off a stunning impression of an old-fashioned soviet themselves. In their desperate attempts to shield the Dutch population at large from finding out the truth they seemingly have organized a total clampdown. Not on the ‘youth’, who are still able to roam the streets of Slotervaart, Geuzenveld and Osdorp, setting fires wherever they please, with impunity. But rather on the reporting coming out of that besieged part of Amsterdam.

Reports of ‘sympathy car-b-ques’ in The Hague reach us via Nieuw Religieus Peil, which links to a report in the Telegraaf (NL) telling us how the inhabitants of the The Hague neighborhoods of Transvaal and Schilderswijk are too afraid to press charges of vandalism, which has seen a sharp increase this last week.

The Shaykh, ‘Abdullah al-Faisal (hafidhullah) discusses the issue of Allah’s wrath and the natural disasters in a lecture entitled, “Natural Disasters.” It is a rarity as well as a gem since it is a subject that needs to be revitalized in the Ummah again so that it further formulates our Walaa’ (allegiance) and Baraa’ah (disavowal) to those whom the Islaamic ‘Aqeedah has clarified towards. It answers many questions such as how we are supposed to look at natural disasters when it happens to the Muslims and when it happens to the Kuffaar.

The burning of rival mosques:

When Muhammad halted at Dhu Awan, he accused its builders of being unjust and sent a band of jihadists to burn and destroy the freshly constructed mosque. He said to his band of hooligans, “Go to this mosque whose owners are unjust people and destroy and burn it.” (Tabari, vol.ix, p.61). His band of raging arsonists stealthily entered the bustling mosque and set fire to it when it was filled with people assembled for the evening prayer. The worshippers dispersed in utter terror. Allah promptly sent down verse 9:107, 110, justifying the destruction of opposition mosques. To further validate his gutting of this mosque, Muhammad concocted the story that he suspected that the builders of the ‘Mosque of Dissent’ were planning to assassinate him.
