The suspected ringleader of an al Qaeda plot to blow up passenger planes over the Atlantic won’t face criminal charges for the alleged conspiracy, British authorities have revealed.

In an unexpected twist, however, Rashid Rauf may be extradited to the U.K. on an unrelated murder charge. But once in the U.K., British law prevents authorities from charging or even questioning Rauf about the alleged airliner plot.

Rauf, a British-Pakistani, denies any connection to terrorism, though he was named in British press reports and by U.K. intelligence sources as one of the key figures behind a plot to smuggle liquid explosives on board airliners bound for the United States.

What was surprising turned on the judge’s evident vehemence towards two ASIO officers (who were named as B15 and B16) along with two federal police members (who were identified by name). Adams found that B15 and B16 committed the criminal offences of false imprisonment and kidnapping at common law. It is established practice for legal officers to find that an individual has a prima facie case to answer and should stand trial. But, in this case, Adams came to the conclusion – without the benefit of a jury’s verdict – that B15 and B16 had committed serious criminal offences…

Afghan boy dancers sexually abused by former warlords

PUL-E KHUMRI, Afghanistan (Reuters) – They are known as “bacha bereesh”, boys without beards, teenage boys who dress up as girls and dance for male patrons at parties in northern Afghanistan.

It’s an age old practice that has led to some of the boy dancers being turned into sex slaves by wealthy and powerful patrons, often former warlords, who dress the boys up as girls, shower them with gifts and keep them as “mistresses”.

Afghan police are battling to crackdown on the practice which has angered Islamic clerics who say those involved should be stoned for sodomy, forbidden under Islamic law.

In a society where the sexes are strictly segregated, it is common for men to dance for other men at weddings in Afghanistan.

But in northern Afghanistan, former warlords and mujahideen commanders have taken that a step further with competitions for their dancing boys.

“Every boy tries to be the first. They are dressed in women’s clothes, have bells on their feet and have artificial breasts,” said Mohammad Yawar, a former mujahideen fighter against the Taliban and resident of the northern town of Pul-e Khumri.

The practice, called “bacha bazi” — literally “boy play” — has a long history in northern Afghanistan, but sometimes it does not stop with just dancing.

“I very much enjoy hugging a boy. His smell and fragrance kills me,” said Yawar.

The 38-year-old businessman said he recruited a 15-year-old boy three years ago to help him with his work.

“I have had him for at least three years, since he was only 15. He was looking for a job and I gave him somewhere to stay,” said Yawar, showing the boy’s picture.

“I don’t have a wife. He is like my wife. I dress him in women’s clothes and have him sleep beside me. I enjoy him and he is my everything,” he said, kissing the photograph.

MARK OF PRESTIGE

Having the best-looking boy and the best dancer is a mark of prestige.

“Everyone tries to have the best, most handsome and good-looking boy,” said a former mujahideen commander, who declined to be named.

“Sometimes we gather and make our boys dance and whoever wins, his boy will be the best boy.”

Former mujahideen commanders hold such parties in and around Pul-e Khumri about once a week.

“Having a boy has become a custom for us. Whoever wants to show off, should have a boy,” said Enayatullah, a 42-year-old landowner in Baghlan province.

“I was married to a woman 20 years ago, she left me because of my boy,” he said. “I was playing with my boy every night and was away from home, eventually my wife decided to leave me. I am happy with my decision, because I am used to sleeping and entertaining with my young boy.”

The men say they lavish money and gifts on their boys.

“I was only 14-years-old when a former Uzbek commander forced me to have sex with him,” said Shir Mohammad in Sar-e Pol province. “Later, I quit my family and became his secretary. I have been with him for 10 years, I am now grown up, but he still loves me and I sleep with him.”

Ahmad Jawad, aged 17, has been with a wealthy landowner for the past two years.

“I am used to it. I love my lord. I love to dance and act like a woman and play with my owner,” he said.

Asked what he would do when he got older, he said: “Once I grow up, I will be an owner and I will have my own boys.”

But Shir Mohammad, at 24, was already getting too old to be a dancing boy. “I am grown up now and do not have the beauty of former years. So, I proposed to marry my lord’s daughter and he has agreed to it.”

POVERTY

Many local residents have called for a crackdown, but are skeptical it will work as many of the men are powerful and well-armed former commanders.

Jahan Shah, who lives in Pul-e Khumri, said government and security officials should take tough action against unIslamic and immoral acts.

Serbia: Muslim prosecutor arrested for using sex-slaves

Serbia’s chief prosecutor has arrested regional vice prosecutor in the Muslim dominated region of Novi Pazar for misuse of office.

The charge alleges that Senad Palamara is implicated in a human trafficking ring in Novi Pazar and was the “user” of sexual services of the trafficked women that were available in a JetSet night club in the Serbian city of Sombor.

The indictment says that during period from December 2005 to July 2007 Palamara repeatedly had sex with a 25 year old Marija K who was forced into prostitution by a trafficking ring of 6 Muslim men from Novi Pazar who have been arrested.

In a raid on JetSet night club two other women have been freed from a forced captivity where they were forced to have sex. In addition to Marija K., a 40-year old Leposava P. kidnapped from Loznica and a 24-year Milica B. from Belgrade were freed from sexual slavery.

Recent death of a woman from Sombor, Sanja B has prompted the owners of the night club to publicly claim that the woman was not beaten but that she “Died from the heart”.

In 2004, chief of police in Novi Pazar, Suad Bulic, has warned the public of the expanding human traffic and forced prostitution in the region.

Novi Pazar is a Serbian city located in the region of Raska where it is extensively populated by Muslim inhabitants. Serbian intelligence has warned that the region is ripe for terror recruitment but no terrorism in the region has occurred yet.

Imam Abu Hamza

Now that radical imam Abu Hamza is a convicted felon and probably will be extradited and face terror charges in the United States, clerics from other mosques are finally coming forward to tell the world how Hamza sent teams of young supporters — his own private militia — in Britain with orders to takeover other mosques.

Several clerics told stories of being threatened by gangs claiming to be members of Abu Hamza’s Supporters of Sharia group. Some of the clerics were beaten inside their own mosques, and worshippers were bullied into finding new places to pray — and the police refused to intervene, they claim.

One police official, under condition of anonymity, said that law enforcement executives in Britain were overly cautious about their interaction with Muslim leaders and their mosques. He claims that several radical Islamic clerics possess their own private militias — fully armed and operating in total secrecy.

Police came underfire when they swarmed one mosque with search warrants in hand. To their credit they uncovered a cache of weapons, forged identity documents and recipes for chemical weapons such as the highly dangerous Ricin; all of it hidden in the mosque.

The stash of equipment included chemical warfare protection suits, or NBC (nuclear, biological and chemical) suits, as they are technically known. British detectives believe the equipment and weapons were being used in terror training camps located somewhere within the United Kingdom.

Abu Hamza wanted to acquire more places where he and his lieutenants could indoctrinate a new generation of followers and send them off to terror training camps abroad.

Even some of his own followers became disenchanted with his tactics. They described how he was more like a Mafia godfather than a religious leader in dealing with anyone he believed defied him. Two rival imams in London claim they were hospitalized after being attacked, and they complained that Scotland Yard practically ignored their assault complaints.

In one of his sermons, heard by the jury during his London trial, Abu Hamza bragged about how his violent tactics bore fruit. He said, “If the people know you are firm, they will back down. They all back down.”

His silent rein of terror began in the late 1980s when he became a member of a group of Algerian-born radicals trying to take over the Central London Mosque.

Fazli Ali, 66, the former estates manager there told the London police: “Hamza and his cronies threatened me several times. I was head of security but they even threatened to kill me. Ours was a peaceful place but he wanted to turn it into a political arena.”

The religious leaders eventually evicted and banned Hamza from their mosque. But Hamza, determined to be an Islamic leader to be reckoned with, sought out more vulnerable mosques and mainstream Islamic organizations around Britain.

These newly infiltrated mosques provided Hamza with recruiting centers ripe with potential radical Islamists. They also were used to raise money which is believed to have funded terror operations and training for new recruits. There were also criminal operations such as producing bogus welfare claims and cloning credit cards.

It was from their mosques that over 100 immigrant Muslims and British-born Islamic converts were sent to Middle East locations where they attended al-Qaeda training camps. British officials including those within MI5 conceded that they don’t know what happened to these men sent for training. They believe some may have been killed in combat or suicide bomb attacks, with most disappearing like a wisp of smoke.

According to one news story in the Sunday Times of London, Imams reported what was happening to police, but say that senior officers were reluctant to interfere in the internal affairs of mosques. Some imams sued Abu Hamza in the civil court hoping to stop his plans, but they found the cases too costly and the court proceedings dragged on and on. Most of Hamza’s rival clerics were just too frightened to buck his associates who acted as his private militia in the middle of London.

Terrorism experts in the US believe similar situations exist in mosques across the country and political correctness prevents federal and local law enforcement from singling out and investigating — including infiltrating — these religious facilities.

For instance, several US senators have voiced concerns that the US Bureau of Prisons uses the Graduate School of Islamic and Social Sciences (GISS), which is under investigation for possible funneling of money to terrorists, and the Islamic Society of North America, which has board members with terror links.

UK: Police complaints about “Islamophobia” in mosque documentary rejected

Looks like the UK is too far gone to be saved: the police seems to be firmly in the pockets of the ummah Islamiyah and shows clearly it supports the Muhammedan cause against the people of England.

Media watchdog Ofcom has rejected complaints by West Midlands Police about a Channel 4 undercover programme that exposed extremism in British mosques.

Police claimed that the Dispatches programme had misrepresented the views of Muslim preachers and clerics in Birmingham with misleading editing.

Following today’s ruling, the broadcaster called the police’s actions “perverse” and said they had, in some people’s eyes, given “legitimacy to people preaching a message of hate”.

Ofcom said: “Undercover Mosque was a legitimate investigation, uncovering matters of important public interest. Ofcom found no evidence that the broadcaster had misled the audience or that the programme was likely to encourage or incite criminal activity.

“On the evidence (including untransmitted footage and scripts), Ofcom found that the broadcaster had accurately represented the material it had gathered and dealt with the subject matter responsibly and in context.”

PESHAWAR – Fighting between rival Sunni and Shia Muslims in northwestern Pakistan’s troubled tribal belt has claimed 70 lives, security officials and state media reported Sunday.
State television said another 150 people were injured as heavily armed tribesmen clashed in the Kurram district bordering Afghanistan.
Security officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said at least 61 civilians had died in fighting in the district’s main town Parachinar, where sectarian clashes in April left 55 dead.

The military said nine soldiers from the army and paramilitary forces had also died, with 15 wounded, after being caught in the crossfire.
Witnesses reported continued fighting overnight despite a curfew in place since Friday.
Fighters from the Shia-dominated Turi tribe and the mainly Sunni Muslim Mengal clan were perched on rooftops and hills overlooking Parachinar, armed with rockets and a mix of heavy and light weapons, witnesses said.
“Both are well entrenched and they are firing on each other,” one resident said.

“I can’t give you the exact casualty figure as fighting is still going on. Last night we had 45 dead and up to 90 wounded,” local administration chief Fakhre Alam told AFP.

With an increasing number of Muslims travelling, such an airline could provide halal food, calls to prayer, religious programmes on the inflight entertainment system and separate sections for male and female passengers, said the WTM report, presented this week during the WTM annual conference in London, which wraps up today, reports Gulf News. “We already have this airline. This report is probably talking about us,” Nurul Suzainee Abdullah, manager of Royal Brunei, said wryly. She said there are already several airlines that take into account special needs of their Muslim passengers so there is little point in discussing the idea. Saudi Arabian Airlines, Sharjah’s budget carrier Air Arabia and Kuwait Airways are among the companies that prohibit alcohol use and many airlines from Muslim countries play a pre-recorded journey prayer during takeoff. Dismissive Dimitry Laspas, publisher of the “Tourism Around the World” e-newsletter, was equally dismissive about the need for an airline exclusively for religious people because travel matters affect all passengers irrespective of their religion or beliefs. In making a case for a “halal” airline, the WTM report pointed to a budget carrier set up by the Vatican to transport pilgrims. Laspas said people cannot go about copying what the Vatican does. “The Vatican is also the world’s smallest country with the biggest army in per capita terms,” he said. Jakarta, 19 Nov. (AKI) – About 30 self-appointed Islamic vigilantes are alleged to have raided a house suspected to be a Christian place of worship in Citeureup Village of Bandung in the Indonesian province of West Java, on Monday.

The owner of the house, Ranto Gunawan Simamora, told reporters that dozens of people raided the house and went directly to the living room which is normally used for Christian gatherings and worship.

Not only is she now accused of passing information to Hizballah. Not only is her brother-in-law now on the lam after being indicted for funneling money from his restaurant chain to Hizballah. Not only did that restaurant chain sponsor the Arab American Institute conference that was addressed by (on video) Clinton, Obama, and Edwards, (and in person) Richardson, Kucinich, and Ron Paul. Not only all that, but also, she is married to a State Department wonk who has held key positions in Middle Eastern embassies.

November 18, 2007 — FBI fraudster Nada Nadim Prouty not only used a sham marriage to get jobs with access to secret terrorist intelligence – her current husband is a State Department employee who has held sensitive posts in Middle Eastern embassies, The Post has learned.
Her third hubby, Gordon Prouty, 40, now works for the State Department in Washington, a spokesman confirmed Friday night. He had been stationed at American embassies in Egypt and Pakistan.

A Justice Department spokesman, Dean Boyd, refused to comment on Gordon Prouty’s job, or say whether he was under investigation along with his criminal wife.

“He’s not charged with any wrongdoing in this case,” Boyd said.

But the revelation surprised national security watchdogs.

“My God, she’s married to one of our people,” said Mike Cutler, a former US immigration special agent.

Nada Prouty, 37, admitted last week she faked her first marriage to a Michigan man in 1990, enabling her to get US citizenship that helped her secure jobs with the FBI and CIA. Her star as an agent rose, and officials trusted her to grill al Qaeda sympathizers.

She also confessed to sneaking into government databases for secret information on her sister and brother-in-law, both linked to the Middle East terror group Hezbollah….

Gordon Prouty was a foreign service officer under Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. In 1999, he transferred from Cairo to Islamabad, Pakistan, a State Department document shows.

Remember Albright? Where Left was Right And Right was Left, but is the Clitman era really over or will we have to endure more of it once again?

The duties of a foreign service officer can include investigation of people applying for visas to enter the United States and protection of American citizens abroad….

Harvey Kushner, a criminal-justice professor and terrorism expert at Long Island University, said it’s likely authorities are looking at the Prouty marriage. “If they’re husband and wife, it would be important to see what involvement he had with records, his travels, his behavior, his contacts,” Kushner said.

But to CIA veterans, where Prouty was recruited as a covert operations officer in 2003, a talented spy merely fudged the truth to win her citizenship.
Prouty, 37, admitted in court that she became a U.S. citizen by hiring an American to marry her. She then joined the FBI in 1999.
“That’s not uncommon – people do it all the time,” said a dismissive CIA source.

Several other CIA officers also shrugged off her pleading guilty to rifling FBI files for information on family members and a Hezbollah counterterror case in Detroit.
“As far as I can tell, she was just looking out for her family,” another senior official said.

PARIS – Seven suspected French Islamists have been arrested in eastern France, police and judicial sources said today.

The men were under surveillance because they possessed high-calibre weapons and regularly trained in the forest, according to the judicial source.

They were arrested on Tuesday in the Besancon region.

Prosecutors still have to determine whether they have links with Islamic radicals, and would decide on Friday whether or not to send them to the anti-terrorist prosecution service for processing.

This is, of course, the kind of thing we have seen many, many times. Articles like this appear in papers around the country on a regular basis. The universal problem that all these clarifications of jihad have is that they’re all aimed at Western audiences, and suggest that it is non-Muslims who have misunderstood jihad and need to be corrected.

In real life, of course, the Muslims who have, at least by Mohammad Hussain’s lights, “misunderstood” jihad by equating it with violence are legion — and what is he writing to them?

Christmas is celebrated elsewhere, even if there are significant local variations: In Continental Europe, naughty children get left rods to be flayed with and lumps of coal; in Britain, Christmas lasts from Dec. 22 to mid-January and celebrates the ancient cultural traditions of massive alcohol intake and watching the telly till you pass out in a pool of your own vomit. Europeans think of this country as “the New World” in part because it has an eternal newness, which is noisy and distracting. Who would ever have thought you could have ready-to-eat pizza faxed directly to your iPod?

And just when you think you’re on top of the general trend of novelty, it veers off in an entirely different direction: Continentals who grew up on Hollywood movies where the guy tells the waitress “Gimme a cuppa joe” and slides over a nickel return to New York a year or two later and find the coffee now costs $5.75, takes 25 minutes and requires an agonizing choice between the cinnamon-gingerbread-persimmon latte with coxcomb sprinkles and the decaf venti pepperoni-Eurasian-milfoil macchiato.
Who would have foreseen that the nation that inflicted fast food and drive-thru restaurants on the planet would then take the fastest menu item of all and turn it into a Kabuki-paced performance art? What mad genius!

But Americans aren’t novelty junkies on the important things. The New World is one of the oldest settled constitutional democracies on Earth, to a degree the Old World can barely comprehend. Where it counts, Americans are traditionalists.

We know Eastern Europe was a totalitarian prison until the Nineties, but we forget that Mediterranean Europe (Greece, Spain, Portugal) has democratic roots going all the way back until, oh, the mid-Seventies; France and Germany’s constitutions date back barely half a century, Italy’s only to the 1940s, and Belgium’s goes back about 20 minutes, and currently it’s not clear whether even that latest rewrite remains operative. The U.S. Constitution is not only older than France’s, Germany’s, Italy’s or Spain’s constitution, it’s older than all of them put together.

Americans think of Europe as Goethe and Mozart and 12th century castles and 6th century churches, but the Continent’s governing mechanisms are no more ancient than the Partridge Family. Aside from the Anglophone democracies, most of the nation-states in the West have been conspicuous failures at sustaining peaceful political evolution from one generation to the next, which is why they’re so susceptible to the siren song of Big Ideas – communism, fascism, European Union.
If you’re going to be novelty-crazed, better the zebra-mussel cappuccino than the Third Reich.

A security guard at Toronto’s Pearson Airport was ordered off the job for wearing a skirt that’s too long.

Halima Muse, a practicing Muslim, was laid off without pay by the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority until she agrees to wear a standard uniform that includes either slacks or a skirt that falls at the knee.

Not willing to oblige by the rules, she took matters into her own hands and filed a complaint to the Canadian Human Rights Commission saying she was the target of religious discrimination, since Islam instructs that she dress modestly.

Muse, 33, claims that she’s never had any problems with her employer in the five years that she’s worked there, until now. She told media that her decision to sport the longer skirt was not a matter of personal style, it was about dignity.

In a statement she made to the Commission, Muse said she never liked the uniform pants that she used to wear because they showed the shape of her body. So she asked the person in charge of work attire for a skirt that’s longer than the standard one, but was told it didn’t exist. So she went out and bought material matching in colour and made her own skirt that reached her ankle.

For six months, nobody said anything to her about the garment until a manager told her she had to conform to regulations. She was suspended for one day on Aug. 11, then for three days on Aug. 15 followed by a subsequent five-day suspension and then was sent home indefinitely on Aug. 29.

A single mother from Somalia with a teenage son, Muse has been out of a job for the last three months. In that time, she’s racked up debt on her credit card and has been borrowing money from relatives, according to a media report.

She said the federal employment insurance agency has rejected her application because she’s not officially unemployed. She’s allowed to go back to work as long as she conforms to regulations that she considers to be a violation of her religious rights.

The Church had been recently restored with the permission of local authorities. Demolishers had begun tearing down the building without any prior warning, which is called for in such cases.

Only at the last minute was the total destruction of the chapel avoided: following protests by the prior of Haliki School and Metropolitan Meliton, director of the Ecumenical Patriarchates office for legal affairs, the prefect of the Prince Islands stopped the Forest Guards. The building however was seriously damaged.

Como, Italy…Boatloads of illegal immigrants from sub-Saharan Africa and Arab North Africa land in Italy’s southern provinces, and then proceed northwards to the wealthier regions Lazio (Rome), Tuscany (Florence), Veneto (Venice), Piedmont (Turin) and Lombardy (Milan and Como).

These illegal immigrants can be seen in all the tourist spots throughout Italy and even in smaller towns such as Como, near the Swiss border. Their presence, while annoying to tourists and natives, is becoming increasingly menacing with their involvement in a new wave of crimes previously unseen in Italy.

The annoyance lies in the audacity with which these Third World infiltrators push their wares in people’s faces, often in a provocative way. The police look on passively, no doubt instructed not to interfere.

Inquiring into this untenable situation (immigrants constitute now 6.2% of Italy’s 58 million population), which may eventually prove to be detrimental to tourism and national identity, native Italians shrug their shoulders in a gesture of resignation. When prodded, most express their frustration by saying, “Our government promises a lot with words but does nothing in actuality.”

Italians, known for their love of life and tolerance towards others are getting fed up, albeit not totally focused on action. The October 30th, 2007, murder of an Italian woman by a Romanian immigrant brought the issue of immigrants’ threat to public security into sharper focus. Former center-right Prime Minister and opposition leader Silvio Berlusconi called on the Prodi government expel the Romanian immigrants (a large number of them are Gypsies/Roma people). Rome’s center-left Mayor Walter Veltroni was in a panic, demanding the central government act immediately.

On November 6th, 2007, the Prodi government came up with a decree, giving officers of the Interior Ministry the power to expel immigrant-citizens of EU countries. The decree does not however relate to the illegal immigrants that in proportion to their numbers commit far more crimes. It remains to be seen whether the new decree will be enforced?

In scores of impromptu interviews with local citizens during a recent visit to Italy, it was apparent that political-correctness and fear of being labeled “racist” have muted citizen’s complaints. Italians and other Europeans have remained relatively silent in the face of the ever-rising number of illegal immigrants (many of them Muslims from North Africa and Albania) who are in breach of Italian law (and that of other European Union member states as well). The only logical explanation for their inaction and seeming resignation to the marked changes taking place around them may just be a sense of guilt.

Most Italians and other European Union member states are beginning to recognize that their state’s fundamental character is threatened by the apparently unstoppable influx of uneducated and unskilled immigrants-legal and illegal. Compassion towards these illegal immigrants is commendable; after all, they simply seek to better their lives and that of their families. But then, one must consider the implication for countries such as Italy (and for that matter the other EU states) if the flow of illegal immigrants continues.

There is no telling how many of Africa’s 680 million might turn up in Europe, overwhelming the continent economically, politically, and culturally. Millions of Pakistanis (population 165 million) and Bangladeshis (150 million) live in abject poverty and would gladly leave their countries as well for either to Europe or the U.S. if the opportunity presented itself (including those from an ever growing list of other poor countries bursting with humanity).

Millions of Egyptian, Yemeni, Syrians, and Iraqi Arabs, would like to leave their poor and repressive authoritarian states and come to Europe, some for reasons that go beyond economics – they seek to extend the domain of Islam. In Britain, Germany, Holland, and France Islam has already been fully accommodated – out of both guilt and intimidation, and in Italy, Islam will soon enjoy equality with (Catholic) Christianity.

White-European guilt and political-correctness is accommodating and appeasing the illegal immigrants and their home countries in spite of the prominent role the illegal immigrants play in criminal activities. In Venice, the world famous Palazzo Ducale (Doges Palace) is showing an exhibit on “Venice and Islam.” Bookstores throughout Italy and even in small towns like Como are replete with books about Islam.

The bookstores visited in Italy have an abundance of books about the Holocaust, but none about modern Israel- the Jewish State that rose from the ashes of the Holocaust. And while there are tour books on Egypt, Libya, Morocco and Syria, there are none to be found about Israel. At one particular store in Como, the store clerk stridently responded to the question of why there were no tour books on Israel by saying “Israel is not a tourist destination!”

Europe, during the past sixty years has attempted to atone for the sins of the Holocaust and two thousand years of persecution and anti-Semitism by paying reverence to its dead Jews. It is the living Jews, however, in its midst that the Europeans ignore, leaving them, at times, to the mercy of Muslim youth mobs who perpetrate hate crimes against those visible Jews, wearing a skullcap, or sporting a long beard. Throughout Europe and in Italy as well, few Jews dare exhibit their religious identity for fear of a violence attack. Religious Jews wear baseball caps instead of skullcaps.

In an attempt to assuage its guilt Europe is appeasing Arab illegal immigrants and their repressive governments. In spite of widespread European investment in the infrastructure of Arab and African countries and serious attempts to create jobs there, these governments continue to eagerly send masses of their people to Europe.

It is however the Jews and not the Muslims, to whom the European should be expressing their guilt and remorse. European colonialism, no doubt, was exploitive (in Italy’s case it was Libya and Ethiopia) but the Ottoman’s Muslim colonial rule over the Christian population of the Balkans was just as exploitive without the attached guilt. On the other hand, Europeans committed the Holocaust, the greatest crime in history, on European soil, against native European Jews. Europe persecuted and exploited the Jews for more than a millennium – the same Jews that gave Europe its genius and culture. Europe placed Jews, not Arabs or Africans in ghettos, and it is the same old Europe that perpetrated pogroms on law-abiding Jews.

The anti-Semitism of the past is gone – at least on the surface – but when visiting Jewish quarters and synagogues throughout Italy one can’t help but notice the preponderance of police protection. While Jews in today’s Europe are full citizens with protection of the law, oftentimes the crimes against them are ignored by the press and diminished by public officials. And while individual Jews feel well treated by their Italian compatriots, the collective Jew – Israel, is vilified in the European media, albeit, less so in Italy.

Israel’s role as a frontline in the war against radical Islam is of little interest to post-Christian Europe. Europe has sacrificed its soul, and all that remains of its national and religious pride on the altar of greed and profit, and in the pursuit of hedonism. Italians readily admit this.

While European Jews have historically resorted to reason when arguing their case, Muslims have preferred violence and intimidation. Europe’s post-war commitment to non-violence has become an absurdity in light of Muslim (immigrant) intimidation and the European response in condemning Israel’s acts of self-defense.

Europe’s misplaced guilt is exacting a high price, which Italians and other European natives are already paying. Europe is too precious to lose, and one can only hope that the people of Europe will find their voice and elect governments that will save the continent.
