On Wednesday, Gen. Abdel Fatah Said Al-Sisi announced a military coup in Egypt. He said that the Constitution had been suspended, that early elections would take place, and that there would be a “code of ethics” for the media. He stated that the chief of the Constitutional court would be taking charge during a transitional period before another election. He said the new government would be “diverse and include all the people,” and that the constitution would be revised to reverse changes made by ousted Muslim Brotherhood President Mohammed Morsi.  (GWP)

Cairo – In a defiant speech, Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi rejected calls for his resignation, insisting that he is Egypt’s “guardian of legitimacy” despite three days of nationwide anti-government protests that have drawn millions to the streets.

His speech was a response to the protests, and to an ultimatum from Egypt’s powerful military, which on Tuesday said it would issue a political “road map” unless Morsi resolved the crisis in 48 hours. Morsi had earlier dismissed the ultimatum, demanding in a message posted on Twitter that the army rescind it.

In his speech on Tuesday night, Morsi accused members of former president Hosni Mubarak’s regime of trying to topple his government and undermine the (Islamic)  revolution.

Activist Pamela Geller: I Won’t Be Kept Out of UK Bill Hoffman, Newsmax, July 1, 2013

Pamela Geller, co-founder of Stop Islamization of America, is hiring a high-powered legal team to fight for the right to enter the United Kingdom after being banned by the British government last week.

“I will be taking action against the UK government. Full steam ahead,” Geller, an anti-Islamist activist, told “The Steve Malzberg Show” on Newsmax TV.

“It’s about whether we still have freedom of speech or whether criticism of Islam and jihad is now against the law in the UK. It seems that you can speak about jihad, but only if you’re in support of it.”

Geller and Robert Spencer, both conservative bloggers, had been set to speak at a weekend rally of the right-wing English Defence League in London’s Woolwich suburb, where a British soldier was hacked to death by two Muslim extremists.

But last Wednesday, they were notified by British Home Secretary Theresa May that they would not be admitted because their presence would “not be conducive to the public good.”

“Mind you, I have never been arrested, I’ve never committed a crime, I have never been to jail,” said Geller, who is also editor and publisher of Atlas Shrugs.com and executive director of the American Freedom Defense Initiative.

“I submit that free speech is indeed conducive to the public good. And you know what’s really crazy? The U.K. had just allowed in a vicious jihad preacher … who has advocated due hatred and wife-beating.

“So he’s allowed in, but me, a free-speech activist, a human rights activist dedicated to freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, and individual rights, is banned.”

Geller said a petition drive to protest the ban has been launched at britishfan.com, as well as a legal fund at thebritishlegalfund.com.

“[It] was started by a freedom-loving group in the U.K. a couple of days ago … Sign the petition because this is outrageous,” she said.

“I’m not taking this laying down. I’m going to the wall on this one.”

Spencer, who runs the Jihad Watch web site, has said the British decision amounts to a ban on those who “oppose jihad violence and Islamic supremacism.”

But a government spokesman, quoted by the BBC, defended the ban, stating: “We condemn all those whose behaviors and views run counter to our shared values and will not stand for extremism in any form.”

Labor blames Abbott Abbott Abbott:

Labor MP Michelle Rowland took to Twitter to slam Mr Abbott for not making strong comments on the abuse.

“Abbott’s comments re Ed Husic are extremely weak. Why not condemn the racist abuse directed at him,” Ms Rowland, also a Western Sydney MP, posted.

Rowland should be ashamed of herself. (oh, I forgot: lefties are shameless. What to do, what to do?)

So what race is Husic? What’s race got to do with an abominable belief system? Could it be that  people  like Rowland, who  deliberately conflate race with ideology, are driven by an agenda that is too ugly to contemplate?

Rowland hides behind freedom of religion, but will not grant us our  G-d given freedom of speech.  There’s something really fuggly in the making……..

Mr Husic became Australia’s first Muslim frontbencher on Monday when he was appointed to Kevin Rudd’s new-look ministry as parliamentary secretary to the Prime Minister and parliamentary secretary for broadband.

“This is a wonderful day for multiculturalism, and everything it stands for in our country,” Governor-General Quentin Bryce told Mr Husic during the swearing-in ceremony in Canberra on Monday.

And so Robinson said to police when he was being arrested, “You are enforcing Sharia law.” Or are there areas in London where police forbid Anjem Choudary to walk? (Not to imply the remotest equivalence between the two.)

Police detain English Defence League leaders who were banned from marching to where Drummer Lee Rigby was killed.

English Defence League (EDL) leader Tommy Robinson has been arrested on suspicion of obstructing police as he made his way to Woolwich barracks.

As the UK begins its Armed Forces Day celebrations, Mr Robinson was taken into custody as he attempted to go to lay flowers for murdered Drummer Lee Rigby.

The EDL had previously announced plans to walk through part of the capital before gathering outside Woolwich Barracks, near where Drummer Rigby was hacked to death in broad daylight.

Robert Spencer, who had been due to speak at the EDL event on 29 June, accused Labour MP Keith Vaz of conducting a “smear campaign.”
