It’s not as if there hasn’t been all kind of Islamic mischief in the center of Oslo. On January 8 and 10, 2009, hundreds of Muslims wreaked havoc on the city’s main drag, Karl Johan, requiring police to use tear gas and leading to 194 arrests. For years, the quiet downtown streets and the charming little park in which the Royal Palace is located have been the settings of late-night Muslim gang rapes. And so on.
But residents of the Norwegian capital have grown used to the relative comfort of knowing that the overwhelming majority of the assaults, car-burnings, robberies, acts of vandalism, and the like carried out by the city’s Islamic youth gangs tend to occur miles away from the center of town, in the immigrant-heavy Grorud Valley to the east, where most well-heeled Oslo residents have little reason to venture.
So it does come as something more of a surprise when some Koran-inspired bit of unpleasantness occurs closer to the heart of the metropolis. Hence the more than ordinary amount of attention being accorded to a stabbing that occurred at around one in the afternoon last Thursday in a Kiwi grocery store on Møllergata, a rather trendy street that isn’t in the very best part of town but is close enough to make locals sit up and take notice.

More than 140 refugees and migrants rescued at sea by a cargo ship landed in Libya and were taken to a detention centre, the United Nations said on Tuesday.
“In Libya’s current context, where outbreaks of violence and widespread human rights violations prevail, no rescued refugees and migrants should be returned there,” Charlie Yaxley, spokesman for the UN refugee agency UNHCR, told a briefing.
More than 200 people have already drowned in January and 4,507 have reached Europe by sea despite “bitter cold and great danger”, Yaxley said.
UNHCR also denounced “politicking around sea rescues” by European states that have restricted aid groups from conducting missions.
But Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini disagreed.
“You save them, as the Libyan coastguard did, and take them back,” Salvini told Mediaset television on Tuesday.

Germans and French blamed as migrants refused safe haven

As Italian ministers blamed rescue ships and French colonialism for the latest tragedy in the Mediterranean, another vessel crowded with panicking migrants and taking on water put out an appeal for help in the Mediterranean late on Sunday.
Sea-Watch 3, run by a German NGO, said it had contacted Italy, Malta, Libya and The Netherlands, since the boat is Dutch-flagged, asking where it could bring the 47 migrants it had taken aboard. Sea-Watch tweeted that Libyan officials had hung up when it asked for a port assignment after the rescue on Saturday about 50km off the coast in Libya’s search-and-rescue area.
Separately, Sea-Watch tweeted on Sunday afternoon that because it appeared no country’s coast guard had initiated a rescue mission, Sea-Watch 3 was heading toward a vessel with 100 migrants aboard that said it was taking on water.
“We can’t cover by ourselves the Mediterranean, where persons are left to die,” Sea-Watch said, estimating that it would take 15 hours of sailing to reach the stricken boat in waters north of Misrata, Libya.

France Builds Trump-Style Wall to Stop Illegals Getting to Britain

French authorities have built a ten-foot wall at a Total station in Calais used by migrants who attempt to storm lorries and break into Britain.
The barrier is being erected at a petrol station in the Marcel-Doret area where lorries stop to fill up with fuel before heading to the port and onwards to the United Kingdom. It is set to be finished by mid-February.

Two Buddhist monks have been fatally shot and two others wounded inside a temple in southern Thailand.
Witnesses described seeing gunmen dressed in black arrive on motorbikes before storming the Rattanaupap temple, shooting the monks at close range.
No one has claimed Friday’s attack, but it took place in Narathiwat province near the border with Malaysia, which for years has seen rebel violence.
Muslim separatists there are fighting the Buddhist-majority Thai state.
Some 7,000 people, mostly civilians, have been killed since the insurgency began in 2004.
