An Australian woman who was lured to Pakistan by the false promise of a lavish life with the man of her dreams was instead locked up, beaten and used as a sex slave for months.

Lara Hall, 30, became the victim of a predatory online groomer who raped her repeatedly over several months and kept her locked up in squalor.

When she managed to contact the Australian commission in Pakistan she claimed she was met with a ‘lacklustre’ response and offered only limited advice.

Describing her ‘living nightmare’ to Daily Mail Australia, Ms Hall said she was groomed by a man called Sajjad, who promised her a lavish life in a Spanish-style villa in Lahore.

~~Populist~~ Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini blasted EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini following a threat to shut down the Italy-led Operation Sophia in the Mediterranean.

Salvini’s comments come after Germany’s Angela Merkel decided on Wednesday to look at opting out of the mission, which is led by the Italians and conducts search-and-rescue operations in the Mediterranean Sea.

Mogherini cast doubt on the Italian leadership of the operation, saying: “If today Italy, which has the command and the headquarters of the operation, no longer wants Sophia, we are ready to shut it down,” Il Giornale reports.

I don’t generally use the word “Islamist” myself, as it is too often used in order to establish some artificial distance between aggressive, violent, imperialist and supremacist political Islam and a supposedly benign ordinary Islam. But in every other respect, Said Shoaib and Hamed Abdel-Samad say in this important interview things that I have said for years: that Western politicians who make pronouncements about Islam are naive and ignorant, that charges of “Islamophobia” are used in order to mask an insidious agenda, and that Islamic supremacists and jihadis aim to destroy Western civilization, as the Muslim Brotherhood stated in a captured internal document.

Are Said Shoaib and Hamed Abdel-Samad “ignorant Islamophobes”? Are they “racist bigots”? Or do they speak unwelcome truths that are no less true for being unwelcome?

Egyptian-Canadian writer Said Shoaib said imams in the West embrace colonialist Islam and deceive Westerners by talking about the “greatness of the Islamic caliphate,” the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) reported.

During an interview with German-Egyptian political scientist and author Hamed Abdel-Samad which was uploaded to Abdel-Samad’s Youtube account last week, Shoaib said such words constitute a form of terrorism that might become armed terrorism should the opportunity present itself, and the West has failed to realize this.

Shoaib explained this form of Islamism is being taught in mosques and in Islamic schools throughout the West, and the natural course of such education is terrorism.

Hamed Abdel-Samad added that the same Muslims who show enmity to other religions in their home countries come to the West and criticize Christians, Jews, the West, and secularism while demanding that nobody criticizes Islam.

He also called the Canadian government naïve, criticizing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s “romantic” fantasy that everybody should “hold hands and hug and kiss one another.” Abdel-Samad said Trudeau doesn’t know what is really being taught in Canadian mosques; Shohaib added that Western politicians don’t know anything about Islam.

Shohaib said “a lot of blood will be shed here in the West”, and if Western politicians fail to stop the terrorist “wave” in the West, ordinary citizens will become more inclined to elect increasingly “extreme” leaders. He added: “The main plan of the Islamists is to destroy Western civilization. They have said it themselves!”

According to Italian newspaper Il Giornale, the Italian secret services, referred to by the publication as “our 007”, are warning of the possibility of people-smugglers purposely causing a disaster at sea in order to garner sympathy from the West and resume their illegal trade, which has been declining over the last year.

It seems that for Pope Francis no priority is greater than patching up every religion except his own. As the Catholic Church in 2019 reels from the abuse scandal, where do his travels take him? To the Islamic world, notes an admiring press. This spring, reports Crux, “he’ll have a jam-packed papal itinerary that will focus heavily on dialogue with the Islamic world.” In February, he visits the United Arab Emirates. In March, he goes to Morocco.

Over the course of his pontificate he has made trips to the Middle East, Turkey, Egypt, and Islamic countries on the continent of Africa. His enthusiastic embrace of Islam has left Muslim converts to Catholicism and persecuted Christians very perplexed. Crux has reported that a “group of Algerian and French converts to Christianity launched an online petition asking Francis to reconsider his conciliatory attitude toward Muslims and the Islamic faith.” They wonder, “If Islam is a good religion in itself, as you continue to teach, then why did we become Catholic?”

The popes of the past would have asked the same question. They would have found his eager defense of Islam incomprehensible. He often sounds less like a teacher of the Catholic faith than a spokesman for CAIR. He repeatedly calls Islam a “religion of peace,” even as Islam’s persecution of Catholics accelerates and its violent branches extend farther into once-Christian lands.

The Philippine island of Mindanao held a referendum on Monday to establish an autonomous region governed by the largely Muslim residents.

More specifically, the prospective Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARRM) would be controlled by a terrorist organization, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

The MILF has been fighting an insurgency against the Philippine government for decades, killing at least 150,000 people along the way. The autonomous region was proposed during peace negotiations between the Islamist group and the government of the majority-Catholic Philippines.

Two (Muslim) men have faced court on FRIDAY, charged with the rape of underage girls in Werribee.

29-year-old Noor Hason appeared in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court charged with one count of sexually penetrating a girl under 16 on December 3 last year.

Appearing separately, 21-year-old Mohammed Nuramin is charged with three counts of sexually penetrating a girl under 12, one count of sexually penetrating a girl under 16 and two of intentionally touching a child under 16.

The accused made no bid for bail and each have been to reappear on April 5.

The extreme political right in the West is reintroducing old Muslim fatwas into the public sphere as a pretext to attack Islam. These fatwas are characterised by religious radicalism and extremism. They use false religious notions to incite hatred towards non-Muslims.

No wonder then that tension is building between Muslims in the West and Western societies, reducing the chances for greater understanding and communication.
