The Islamisation of France, 2015

Soren Kern writes in Gatestone

  • An estimated 40,000 cars are burned in France every year — a destruction often attributed to rival Muslim gangs. Every day, more than 80 cars are burned.
  • The rector of the Grand Mosque of Paris, Dalil Boubakeur, called for the number of mosques in France to be doubled over the next two years. Boubakeur said that 2,200 mosques are “not enough” for the “seven million Muslims living in France.” He demanded that unused churches be converted into mosques.
  • Prime Minister Manuel Valls revealed in April that more than 1,550 French citizens or residents are involved in terrorist networks in Syria and Iraq.
  • “Can we not talk about subjects that split opinion? If you talk about immigration, you are a xenophobe. If you talk about security, you are a fascist. If you talk about Islam, you are an Islamophobe.” – Henri Guaino, MP.
  • “Those who denounce the illegal behavior of fundamentalists are more likely to be sued than the fundamentalists who behave illegally.” – Marine Le Pen, leader of the National Front party.

The Muslim population of France reached 6.5 million in 2015, or around 10% of the overall population of 66 million. In real terms, France has the largest Muslim population in the European Union, just above Germany.

Although French law prohibits the collection of official statistics about the race or religion of its citizens, this estimate is based on several studies that attempted to calculate the number of people in France whose origins are from Muslim-majority countries.

What follows is a chronological review of some of the main stories about the rise of Islam in France during 2015:

…and now, slowly, reality sets in:

 After “refugees welcome”, the hangover:

A social worker working in an asylum centre in Hamburg has spoken out about the daily realities of her job, which includes death threats, sexual harassment, aggressive behaviour, forged documents, misogyny, verbal abuse and even physical assault. She has admitted to changing her dress and behaviour in order to stay safe from the migrants, 90 percent of whom she describes as “unpleasant”.

Having initially been fired up with enthusiasm for helping the “refugees,” she admits that she is seriously considering quitting, as are most of her colleagues, thanks to the daily litany of abuse they receive at the hands of ungrateful migrants.

“I applied for this job because it was exactly what I wanted to do,” she told German news channel N24. “When confirmation of the job arrived in my mailbox, I looked forward to starting like crazy; finally I could not only help in theory, but also really do something practical to help the refugees.

“I went in in high spirits on my first day at the initial reception centre.” Her job consists of assisting the 1,500 migrants staying in the centre with asylum applications and access to services such as medical health checks.

“Well, and then the first refugees came to my office… After the first few visits I realized that my very positive and idealistic notion of them and their behaviour was very different from the reality… Of course can’t generalize about all refugees under any circumstances, many of them are very friendly, very grateful, very willing to integrate, very happy here… But if I’m honest 90 percent of those who I meet are rather unpleasant.”

Describing the aggressive behaviour of the majority, she explained: “First, many of them are extremely demanding… They came to me and demanded that I immediately set them up with an apartment, a fancy car, and a really good job. When I told them this was not possible, they would become loud and very aggressive. An Afghan threatened to kill himself there and then [if I did not help him with these demands].

“One Arab yelled at a colleague of mine ‘We will behead you!’… Because of these and other things the police are with us several times a week.”

The migrants are also duplicitous, she said, often turning up with a number of false documents.

“They would come to me and tell a story which did not match their papers. I would check with my colleagues and then I would find out that just the day before, the refugees had been to them with a completely different story.

“There was, for example, a resident who came to me with a deportation notice addressed to himself. He wanted to know what would happen next. I explained it to him, and then he went away. Soon afterwards, he appeared in front of my colleague and showed completely new identity documents in a different name. He was then just moved to another camp.”

And they are unreliable, leading to problems within the system as part of the routine is setting medical appointments for the migrants to be screened.

“I make appointments for them, but they just do not show up. This happens so often that the doctors have now asked us not to book as many appointments – but what am I supposed to do? I can’t simply reject the request for an appointment, just because I suspect that the petitioner may not turn up.”

But the biggest problem by far, she says, is the migrants’ attitude towards women, which is so extreme that she has begun to modify her own behaviour in order not to draw unwanted attention.

“It is well known that it is primarily single men who come to us—at least 65 or 70 percent. They are still young, only 20 or so, and not more than 25.

“They simply do not respect women at all. They don’t take us seriously. If I as a woman tell them something or want to take a statement from them, they hardly listen to me at all, or they simply refuse and demand to speak to a male colleague.”

Instead they give her and her female colleagues “contemptuous glances”, or are sexually provocative: one will whistling and make comments in their native language while the others look on and laugh.

“It is really very unpleasant,” she says. “They even photograph us with their smartphones, just like that, without asking, even if you protest against it.”

At first she tried simply ignoring the behaviour, but more recently it has become even more aggressive and intimidating “because in recent weeks there are more and more men from North Africa, from Morocco, Tunisia, or Libya.

They are even more aggressive. I could not ignore it any longer, and I have had to respond,” she continued.

“Specifically, this meant I had to start dressing differently. I’m actually someone who likes to sometimes wear close-fitting items, but not anymore. I now have to wear loose-fitting pants and always high-necked tops. I hardly use any makeup anymore.

“And not only did I have to change my outward appearance to protect myself from this harassment, I also had to alter my behaviour.

“I avoid, for example, going where lots of these single men are staying. If I have to do anything there, I try to get it over and done with as quickly as possible without smiling at anyone so they can’t mistake my intentions.

“But usually I stay in my little office, if possible. And I no longer take the train to work or back, because a colleague was followed by some of the men to the metro station and molested in the train. I would like to spare myself that, and therefore I use my car.”

Clearly ashamed by her changing attitudes towards the migrants, she says: I know this all sounds awful, and I find it terrible myself that I’m doing this, but what can I do?

“The officials are no great help, either with this problem or others that we face – not the Interior Ministry nor the local Federal Office for Migration and Refugees. If you call them they no longer answer the phone.

“I had always ruled out quitting – I like my colleagues very much, and the refugee children. I was previously so convinced of the job and of the whole thing in itself, and it is very difficult to admit that it is all so different from what you have imagined.

“A resignation will be precisely such an admission. But we cannot take it anymore; we cannot bear to see how wrong it all is in here, and, if I’m honest, we cannot change it.”

One in 10 Australians ’highly Islamophobic’ and have a fear of Muslims

Really. And what is going to be done with those who obviously know too much about Islam and reject it? Will they be taken to the gulag, into reeducation camps, to reprogram them from impure thoughts?

MEREDITH BOOTH  THE AUSTRALIAN

One in 10 Australians are “highly Islamophobic” and have a fear or dread of Muslims, a University of South Australia study has found.

Riaz Hassan said the survey was the first “pulse” taken of Australians’ perceptions.

The University’s International Centre for Muslim and non-Muslim Understanding has surveyed 1000 Australians, finding 10 per cent of people had negative or hostile attitudes towards Muslims, with the elderly, less educated and those with a poor attitude towards migrants more likely to hold such views.

The hide and the hubris of these people is breathtaking.

Shameless. Bloody shameless:

Muslim MP Invited Trump To Visit Bradford, Where Muslims Beat Christian Converts, And JUST TWO DAYS after a British soldier is found beaten, bloodied in the street…

The Muslim Member of Parliament for Bradford West, Naz Shah, yesterday invited U.S. Presidential candidate Donald Trump to her constituency, at the peak of the exchange of hubris during the parliamentary committee debate on banning the American business mogul.

She proclaimed before her fellow MPs: “I, as a Member of Parliament for Bradford West, would give an open invitation to Donald Trump to visit my constituency… the reason I’d give him an open invitation to visit my constituency is I’d take him to the synagogue, I’d take him to the church, I’d take him to the mosques, I’d invite him for a curry – we are the curry capital of Britain.”

But just this weekend, it was reported that a 20-year-old soldier had been discovered “robbed and beaten” in Sackville Street in the heart of Ms. Shah’s constituency.–BREITBART.COM

Pope Francis: Countries that Take in Refugees Must Change

“Migration movements are now a structural reality, and our primary issue must be to deal with the present emergency phase by providing programmes which address the causes of migration and the changes it entails, including its effect on the makeup of societies and peoples.”

“At this moment in human history, marked by great movements of migration, identity is not a secondary issue. Those who migrate are forced to change some of their most distinctive characteristics and, whether they like or not, even those who welcome them are also forced to change.”

“The presence of migrants and refugees seriously challenges the various societies which accept them. Those societies are faced with new situations which could create serious hardship unless they are suitably motivated, managed and regulated. How can we ensure that integration will become mutual enrichment, open up positive perspectives to communities, and prevent the danger of discrimination, racism, extreme nationalism or xenophobia?”

Public opinion also needs to be correctly formed, not least to prevent unwarranted fears and speculations detrimental to migrants.”

That last one is obviously the most ominous statement, but there is plenty of language here emphasizing the transformation of host societies. There is a failure to address the threat of migrants. Instead the only recognized threats are those of the host societies who reject migrants. There is also far too much talk about forming opinion, managing and regulating host societies and the need to change.

There is little to no acknowledgement of the inherent religious consequences of huge numbers of Muslims invading and settling in Europe. The words “Islam” and “Muslim” are never even mentioned.

Germany’s Vatican ambassador: ‘Islam is part of the solution’

Germany’s ambassador to the Vatican, Annette Schavan, still sees religion as a peacemaker, despite wars and terrorism. In an interview with DW, she calls for more interfaith dialogue and respect between all religions.   —Deutsche Welle

Aktionstag der deutschen Muslime 19.9.2014 Muslime gegen Hass

Deutsche Welle: After the New Year’s Eve harassment incidents in Cologne, a highly charged atmosphere with regard to migrants has developed in Germany. How do people in Rome assess the events in Germany?

Annette Schavan: The Vatican knows about all the new attempts to exploit religion as a justification for violence. Germany is viewed as a country that does a lot for refugees. The pope has explicitly commended this in his New Year’s speech.

Can religion today still serve as a peacemaker or has it already become a driving force behind wars?

There are warmongers who embrace religion. But that does not mean that religion promotes war. Religion has the great power to bring peace. People are upset by the numerous attacks and wonder, “Should we equate these images of violence with Islam?” One gets the impression that Islam is part of the problem. But that’s not true. It must become clear that it is part of the solution.

The pope has called on all Christians to take in refugees. In the current situation, does that sound like utopian neighborly love?

Germany has set an excellent example with its “culture of welcome,” which is still not a thing of the past. Of course, many people are anxious. That is exactly what the terrorists want. They do not want a culture of welcome for refugees. One of the things the refugees are fleeing is the terrorists. If we consider integration and welcoming culture to be utopian, then the terrorists have achieved a great deal.

Zentrum für Islamische TheologieAnnette Schavan (c.) together with the Islamic theologians Mouhanad Khorchide (r.) and Bulent Ucar (l.) opening the Center for Islamic Theology at Munster University

In your term as Germany’s minister of education, you established the first chairs of Islamic theology at German universities. Does a dialogue of religions take place there now?

I founded Islamic theological faculties because theological education is needed in order to establish dialogue. This is significant, as criticism is also involved here. Using a historical-critical method to interpret the scriptures is important. Germany has the potential to be the country that brings advances in theology. Even in Christianity, critical bible studies have only existed for a little over 100 years. The four institutes of Islamic theology that we now have in Germany are just the beginning for me.

Do we need a theological confrontation with radical Islamists? Must their theories be refuted with arguments from the Koran?

That debate is already taking place among Islamic theologians. It is crucial that representatives of a contemporary theology that can last into the future find acceptance and are not seen as outsiders. Such approaches can be developed at the German university faculties.

Italien Papst Franziskus besucht Synagoge in RomPope Francis is active in promoting interfaith dialogue

The Vatican seeks dialogue with Jews, Orthodox Christians, Protestant Christians and Muslims. Could it also mediate between Shiites and Sunnis?

The pope is a great moral authority whose sphere of influence reaches beyond the Catholic world. Because he acts as a peacemaker and reconciler, people from all cultures feel he is the voice of conscience, and they yearn for religion in the 21st century to unite and not divide.

Not only Muslims are fleeing war and oppression from their homeland. Christians are also being persecuted in many Muslim countries. Is their suffering at the hands of Islamist terrorists at risk of being pushed into the background?

Christians are currently the most persecuted religious group. That must be said clearly. But Muslims are also persecuted for their faith. Freedom of religion is for everyone. That must also be said clearly. It is the political responsibility of every society to protect this freedom.

DW’s Astrid Prange conducted the interview

Annette Schavan has been the German ambassador to the Vatican since 2014. When she served as Germany’s minister for education and research (2005 to 2013), the Catholic and Christian Democrat politician established the first chairs of Islamic theology at the universities of Tübingen, Münster, Osnabrück and Erlangen.
