Kaldas and Soutphommasane are channeling Ann Aly, but this article from  ABC scribbler Angela Lavoipierre doesn’t even mention her presence. This event grew out of her manure, why is that not mentioned?

Hanson-Young repeats the horror in the Mediterranean

YOU’D think Sarah Hanson-Young would shrivel in shame at the drowned boat people on her conscience.

But, no, “accidents happen, tragedies happen”, the Greens senator chirruped when asked in 2011 if she took moral responsibility for the then Labor-Greens government luring hundreds of boat people to their deaths at sea.

And now she’s helping to repeat in the Mediterranean exactly the tragedies we saw in the seas between Australia and Indonesia before the Abbott Government ended the horror.

This week Hanson-Young was on a millionaire’s ship between Italy and Libya, using some of her taxpayer-supplied overseas study allowance to join an expedition that encourages the people smugglers plying a deadly trade.

Of course, she doesn’t see it that way.

Sarah Hanson-Young tells a gullible and unquestioning ABC host, Fran Kelly, that the “refugees” she is “rescuing” are generally foreign workers trapped in Libya by the militias. People smugglers tell a different story – they are taking truckloads of illegal immigrants over the Sahara for shipment to Italy.

Raids have been carried out on two Sydney properties as part of an investigation by the Australian Border Force (ABF) into the importation of 17 undeclared bulletproof vests.
Performance-enhancing drugs, a flick knife, air pistols and illicit tobacco were found and seized by ABF and NSW police during the raids in Ashcroft and Greenacre on Monday.
It’s the result of investigations that were launched in mid June, when a man and woman arrived into Sydney International Airport from Lebanon via Dubai.
The man’s baggage contained the 17 undeclared ballistic vests and a black hoodie featuring an Islamic creed known as the Shahada, while two more vest were found in unaccompanied baggage.
Assistant Commissioner Investigations Steve Lancaster said the ABF was ready to protect Australia from organised crime and terrorism.
“As this operation shows, ABF work does not stop at the physical border and those involved in illicit importation can also expect a knock on the door from an ABF investigator,” he said in a statement on Thursday.
The maximum penalty associated for importing undeclared ballistic vests is a fine of $170,000.

Columnist and author of “The Undocumented,” Mark Steyn argued comparing President Obama to Neville Chamberlain is “rather unfair to Neville Chamberlain” on Tuesday’s “Hannity” on the Fox News Channel.

Steyn said of comparisons between Obama and Chamberlain, “I think actually that’s rather unfair to Neville Chamberlain, Sean. He got the central question of the 1930’s wrong, but he was an honorable man, who believed he was acting in the interests of his country and the British Empire which he loved. When Churchill became prime minister he kept Chamberlain on and had him chair the War Cabinet in his absence. And Churchill wept over Chamberlain’s funeral casket, and claimed he was an honorable man who just happened to be wrong. I don’t think you can say that about Obama. I think what Obama did is significantly worse than what Neville Chamberlain did. I don’t think, in effect, Obama was negotiating on behalf of the United States. I think what happened at these talks is that he and the Iranians were, in a sense, negotiating together to anoint Iran as the regional power in the Middle East and to facilitate Iran’s reentry, the biggest planetary sponsor of terrorism, to facilitate its reentry into the global community. That’s what Obama was there doing.”

The unusually blunt assessment came as Indonesia dramatically cut its permits for live cattle exports from Australia for the three months ending September to 50,000 animals, significantly fewer than the 200,000 expected and the 250,000 quota for the quarter just gone.
