71% Pak males justify beating women

veil-100.jpg

Lahore, Dec 11: A recent survey on violence against women in Pakistan has found that 71 per cent males consider slapping and beating women as justifiable.

According to the survey, 80 per cent of women are victims of domestic violence in society.

Addressing a seminar on the occasion of the International Human Rights Day at the Punjab Law College (PLC) here, participants said that sustained and collective efforts were needed to end domestic violence in Pakistan.

“Islam and the country’s legislation give equal rights to women. The only need is to implement Islamic rules and legislation, and create awareness in the society about women’s rights.”

Presentations were given on women rights in Islam, the Women Protection Bill and sexual harassment scenario in the country.

Government College University Clinical Psychology Department director Dr Zahid Mehmood was the chief guest.

WRCP Country Director Omer Aftab and Punjab Law College principal Dr Hadia Awan were among the speakers, the Daily Times said.

Dr Mehmood highlighted the psychological aspects of violence against women, and said it was a global problem, but of a different magnitude in Pakistan.

He claimed that the ratio of violence against women was comparatively higher in Pakistan.

Aftab said that women’s rights was declared as a human right in 1993 at the Vienna Conference on Human Rights.

The mindset of the male member of the society should be changed, he added.

* That, however, is impossible because of the ‘immutable’ Koran:

Koran 4:34 tells men to beat their disobedient wives after first warning them and then sending them to sleep in separate beds. This is, of course, an extremely controversial verse, so it is worth noting how several translators render the key word here, waidriboohunna:

Pickthall: “and scourge them”

Yusuf Ali: “(And last) beat them (lightly)”

Al-Hilali/Khan: “(and last) beat them (lightly, if it is useful)”

Shakir: “and beat them”

Sher Ali: “and chastise them”

Khalifa: “then you may (as a last alternative) beat them”

Arberry: “and beat them”

Rodwell: “and scourge them”

Sale: “and chastise them”

Asad: “then beat them”

* Muslims, when confronted with the text, lie and deny and attack the messenger for “incorrect & offensive hate speech.” Pickthall, Yusuf Ali, Al-Hilali/Khan, Shakir, Sher Ali, Khalifa and Asad are Muslims. Are their translations all “incorrect and offensive?”

Pope on global warming: Don’t get hysterical

* What he really should have said is that ‘carbon-trading’ is the biggest fraud in human history, since the whole concept is based on the biggest transfer of wealth from developed nations to 3rd world crap holes who destroy their environment and hold us to ransom over it. Making the strong weak doesn’t make the weak strong, it just destroys reason and sanity, and our own civilization…

Pope Benedict XVI has launched a surprise attack on climate change prophets of doom, warning them that any solutions to global warming must be based on firm evidence and not on dubious ideology.

The leader of more than a billion Roman Catholics suggested that fears over man-made emissions melting the ice caps and causing a wave of unprecedented disasters were nothing more than scare-mongering.

The German-born Pontiff said that while some concerns may be valid it was vital that the international community based its policies on science rather than the dogma of the environmentalist movement…

“It is important for assessments in this regard to be carried out prudently, in dialogue with experts and people of wisdom, uninhibited by ideological pressure to draw hasty conclusions, and above all with the aim of reaching agreement on a model of sustainable development capable of ensuring the well-being of all while respecting environmental balances.

* Of course if we draw attention to this we are told that we are ‘Islamophobes’ and that we have it all wrong:

* Yet another convert to Islam misunderstands her new religion as having something to do with violence and supremacism. Seriously, why not start a program for converts, to make sure they don’t keep making this same mistake? After all, if Islam is a religion of peace as all you apologists insist, then it is strange that so many converts misunderstand it so thoroughly, isn’t it?

A MELBOURNE mother is being investigated by police over her links to Somali jihadis and accusations she supports Islamic martyrdom.
The Muslim convert, a friend of Sydney’s militant Islamic matriarch Rabiyah Hutchinson, is also alleged to have declared herself and her family “soldiers of Osama bin Laden”, who act on his orders.

The allegations are contained in an official statement given to the Australian Federal Police in relation to its investigation into Somali community figures suspected of encouraging dozens of young men to return to their homeland and join Islamic jihad.

The statement accuses another Australian convert, Aisha Whitehead, of encouraging her Somali-born Australian husband Ahmed Ali to fight alongside terrorists in his war-torn homeland.

The mother, who introduced Ms Whitehead to Mr Ali, allegedly told a small gathering of Muslim women in Melbourne that she supported Islamic jihad and was a follower of the hardline Wahabi form of Islam.

“We are Wahabi,”
the mother is quoted as saying in the sworn statement seen by The Australian and given by a Somali community member to the AFP in August. Asked at the gathering whether it was bad to be a Wahabi, she replied: “No, we are soldiers of Osama bin Laden. We take orders from him. If he tells us to go somewhere, we go.”

The mother rejected the claims against her and denied she was an extremist or an advocate for terrorism.

“The allegations are absolutely untrue and without basis,” she said.

* Of course: she’s not a terrorist. She’s a jihadist.

If you allow these lawyers to paint a pussy on your cheek, they will tell you that they work pro bono, out of the goodness of their hearts, against the injustice of the US government, who wants to take your freedom away. Jihad continues in Somalia

Islamist Fighters Seize Central Somali Town

Witnesses say Islamist fighters have taken over a town in central Somalia after a brief battle with government troops.

Residents of Bulo-Burde, a town in Somalia’s Hiran region, say the heavily armed fighters entered the town on Saturday and attacked government forces.

somalia2.jpg

They say the government troops withdrew and that the offices of the local authorites were looted, although it was not clear who did the looting. Reuters news agency quotes a Hiran region official, Yusuf Ahmed Hagar, as saying the government will re-take the town.

Hard-line Islamists seized control of much of central and southern Somalia last year before being ousted by government soldiers and allied Ethiopian troops.

In Mogadishu, an Islamist-led insurgency that erupted in January continued Sunday as government troops clashed with insurgents at the Bakara market.

“Pre-independence euphoria” in Kosovo

* Cyprus is the European Union’s lone holdout in supporting independence for Kosovo. Gee, why is that? Could it be their common history with Serbia with respect to having its territory eaten away for the sake of Muslim interests? “Pre-independence euphoria in Kosovo,” by William J. Kole for the Associated Press:

captc1cf92bf5f904666b711a52faa6143dckosovo_crisis_pri110.jpg

Thousands of wildly cheering pro-independence demonstrators marched through Kosovo’s gritty capital Monday as a sense of euphoria swept the breakaway province preparing to gain statehood early next year.

* The US & the EU are in cahoots to establish the first ‘independent’ Islamic heroin republic in the heart of EUrabia

Kosovars, assured of staunch U.S. support and a promise of recognition from all but one EU country, reveled in hopes that a decades-old dream may be within reach despite fierce opposition by Serbia and Russia.

International mediators failed to negotiate a compromise on Kosovo’s future by Monday’s U.N. deadline.

“Independence means so much to us. It means a new identity and a new future for Kosovo,” said Agim Kastrati, a 19-year-old law student who marched through Pristina demanding a declaration of statehood early in 2008.

European Union foreign ministers meeting Monday in Brussels, Belgium, said they had “virtual unanimity” on recognizing Kosovo’s eventual independence, with Cyprus the sole holdout.

And Kosovo’s outgoing prime minister demanded an “immediate and permanent” conclusion to the ethnic Albanian majority’s drive for statehood — a quest that led to the 1998-99 war with Serbia and spawned nearly a decade of political and economic limbo under U.N. and NATO administration.

“No more delays. No more deals,” said rally organizer Burim Balaj, as about 3,000 demonstrators outside parliament set off firecrackers, waved U.S. and Albanian flags and held posters that read: “Independence is the only option.”

“UCK! UCK!” the crowd shouted back, using the Albanian acronym for the now-disbanded Kosovo Liberation Army, or KLA, which fought Slobodan Milosevic’s troops in a conflict that claimed 10,000 lives.

Yet the celebratory mood was tinged with uncertainty. Some wondered whether the seemingly imminent birth of a nation will re-ignite ancient ethnic hatreds and thrust the Balkans into a new cycle of bloodshed.

NATO, which maintains 16,000 peacekeepers in Kosovo, has boosted street patrols in a show of force aimed at discouraging extremists on both sides of the ethnic divide.

“I don’t believe it’s possible for Serbs and Albanians to live together peacefully,” said Mimoza Sejdiu, 24, an ethnic Albanian at Monday’s rally. “I don’t see a common future as citizens of one country.”

adiclinto1.jpg

In a sign of underlying tensions, Kosovo police said that over the weekend, unknown assailants tossed a bottle of flaming liquid into a vacant house owned by Serbs in the town of Gnjilane southeast of Pristina and sprayed this menacing message: “Death to Serbs.”

Former KLA rebels are believed to have stashed away huge caches of rocket-propelled grenades and other weapons in Kosovo’s forests and in their own backyards. More than 500,000 handguns alone remain in circulation, according to U.N. estimates.

Serbia, which has offered Kosovo broad autonomy but insists the province remain part of its territory, has threatened economic blockades, and some officials have even hinted that Belgrade might resort to force to retain what many Serbs see as the cradle of their civilization.

In a provocative move seen as a fresh territorial claim, Serbia’s minister for Kosovo, Slobodan Samardzic, opened a branch office in the ethnically divided northern city of Kosovska Mitrovica — long a flashpoint for violence.

Russia, Serbia’s No. 1 ally, has threatened to veto any move by the U.N. Security Council to sign off on statehood. Moscow contends independence for Kosovo would encourage separatists in Chechnya, Georgia and elsewhere to break away.

“This will trigger a chain reaction in the Balkans and in other areas of the world,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov warned Monday during a visit to Cyprus, itself a divided nation.

Maldives: non-Muslims to lose citizenship

* Severe case of Christianophobia in the Maldives:

The Maldivian constitutional assembly has passed an amendment stating that “none, except Muslims can be Maldivian citizens”.

extremist-3.png

* “Good Muslims” in the Maldives

*
According to the Barnabas Fund, an organisation that supports the persecuted Church, the implementation of this amendment to the constitution means that a number of Maldivians will lose their citizenship and become stateless. In the Maldives it is illegal to practise any other religion than Islam.

While there are a few Christians in the country among the expatriates, there are also some Maldivian Christians, converts from Islam, who would lose their citizenship. Although the current constitution does not specifically mention this, any person who follows, preaches or simply reads texts of other religions is punished until he or she turns to Islam.

Under President Gayoom, whose autocratic regime has recently come under attack, militant Islamism has become more widespread. After a bomb explosion earlier this year, which injured a number of tourists and was attributed to an Islamic militant group, the president promised to take measures to combat Islamic extremism. This seems to contradict this latest amendment to the constitution.

Somali pirates threaten to kill tanker crew

By Laura Clout and agencies

wpirates111.jpg

Somali pirates are able to operate with relative impunity off the volatile Horn of Africa

A tense standoff has developed off the Somali coast between US warships and pirates who have hijacked a tanker packed with explosive chemicals.

Somali pirates are able to operate with relative impunity off the volatile Horn of Africa.
Under seige from the US navy, the pirates have now threatened to kill all 22 crew members of the Japanese Golden Nori unless a $1 million ransom is paid.

The tanker, carrying up to 40,000 tons of inflammable benzene, was captured as it was sailing from Singapore to Israel.

Two US Navy ships picked up the ship’s distress calls and fired on the pirates’ speedboats, sinking two.

The warships followed the kidnapped tanker into Somali coastal waters and trapped it close to the Somali port of Bossaso, preventing supplies from getting to the ship.

However they are afraid to launch an assault on the ship for fear of detonating its cargo.

Negotiations have been under way to free the vessel, currently anchored off north-east Somalia, with crew members from Burma (also known as Myanmar), the Philippines and South Korea on board.

A spokesman for the ship’s Japanese owner, Dorval Kaiun KK, said it was hoping to win the crew members’ safe release by the year’s end, “hopefully before Christmas”.

Authorities on the semi-autonomous Somali region of Puntland, who are negotiating with the pirates, have sent militia to Bosaso harbour, a few nautical miles from where the vessel was held.

In a statement, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said Puntland authorities were asking the pirates to surrender peacefully to the Puntland coast.

But Andrew Mwangura, the head of the Kenya-based East Africa Seafarers’ Assistance Programme said the presence of the US vessels was complicating matters.

“What we are saying is that the US ships should keep a distance because their presence is complicating issues there,” he said.

The escape of a South Korean sailor from the vessel shortly after the freighter was captured had also complicated talks with the pirates, Mr Mwangura added.

He said the pirates had opted for a high ransom because of the cost, type and ownership of the cargo, the value and nationality of the ship, as well as the nationality of the crew.

The Golden Nori is the last vessel remaining under the control of pirates off the Somali coast, after the Comoran-flagged cargo MV Al Marjan was released a fortnight ago.

Somali pirates, usually trained fighters with sophisticated arms and equipment, are able to operate with relative impunity off the volatile Horn of Africa.

At least 26 attacks have occurred this year off Somalia’s 2,300 mile coastline, prompting the International Maritime Bureau (IMB) to advise sailors not to come closer than 200 nautical miles from the coastline.

The country has not had a functional government since the dictator Mohamed Siad Barre was ousted in 1991. Now the weak transitional government and its Ethiopian allies are battling an Iraq-style Islamic insurgency.

Canada Hijab Update: The Girl is dead, strangled by her father

* Now watch the mealy mouthed apologists invent the sleaziest of excuses for this insanity!

* The ultra-left Toronto Star is already trying to whitewash this awful murder:

Hijab can divide families

But tension can also be caused by girls who chose to adopt headscarf against parents’ wish, say some

JOANNA SMITH

The suggestion of violent disputes between a 16-year-old girl in Mississauga and her father over her desire to show her hair and live a “normal” lifestyle raises questions about tensions between parents and children in the Muslim community.

But members of the community – particularly young Muslim women – say the tension can exist both ways.

Ausma Khan, the editor-in-chief of Toronto-based Muslim Girl magazine, said research into the readership of her publication shows that the decision to wear the hijab – the traditional Muslim headscarf – is almost always a choice the girl makes on her own.

“We have also heard from other girls saying that they don’t know if they want to wear it and that they’re unsure and that there is community or family pressure to wear it,” she said, but stressed that type of response was in the minority.

Maryam Rana, 20, a student at the University of Toronto’s Mississauga campus, said she has been wearing the hijab since she was in Grade 3 and was not very receptive to it at first.

Rescue workers walk among damaged cars near the U.N. buildings.

At least one U.N. worker has been confirmed dead, while another 12 staff members are apparently missing.

U.N. Development Program spokesman Jean Fabre told CNN a search was underway for the 12 missing staffers.

Ron Redmond, spokesman for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland told CNN staff were missing from the main U.N. building in Algiers.

One explosion occurred outside the constitutional court in the Algiers neighborhood of Ben Aknoun while the other took place in the residential area of Hydra tearing the front off the U.N.’s headquarters in the city.

A reporter from CNN affiliate BFM quoted hospital sources as saying 62 people were killed in both blasts.

Redmond said the U.N. headquarters and a separate building housing its refugee agency’s office had “suffered extensive damage.”

“Apparently this was an extremely powerful bomb,” Redmond told CNN. “It’s caused a lot of damage and right now we’re just trying to sort out where our staff are.”
Algeria’s Minister of State Noureddine Yazid Zerhouni said the explosions were the result of two cars full of explosives, according to the state news agency.

So far no group has admitted responsibility for Tuesday’s blasts.

algeria_2.jpg

Video from the scene of the Hydra blast showed a shallow crater in the road, surrounded by rubble and crowds of people.

A nearby four-story building was missing its facade and there was damage to some of the building’s interior.

Agence France-Presse said French President Nicolas Sarkozy had condemned the attacks, describing them as “barbarian acts”, during a telephone call to his Algerian counterpart Abdelaziz Bouteflika.

Hydra is an upscale district home to several Western companies, government buildings, and embassies, according to residents. Ben Aknoun is a more residential area but also houses buildings of the Supreme Court.

Algeria, which has a population of three million, is still recovering from more than a decade of violence that began after the military government called a halt to elections which an Islamist party was poised to win.

Tens of thousands of people died (typical CNN bullshit: 200 000 were killed, most of them by the Islamaniacs. The government fought back  hard and killed a good number of them  in the unrest.

Neither was it ‘unrest’- but much rather a civil war. Although the country has remained relatively peaceful, (???) recent terrorist attacks have raised fears of a slide back to violence.

In April, the northern Africa wing of al Qaeda claimed responsibility for a bomb attack in downtown Algiers that killed 33 people

Suicide attack at Pakistani nuclear weapons complex

As the Pakistani military continues the slow push to regain control of the settled district of Swat, suicide bombers struck in two locations, one at a sensitive weapons facility near Islamabad. The most deadly attack occurred in Swat in the Northwest Frontier Province after a suicide bomber hit a police checkpoint near Matta, where the Pakistani Army just established a presence. Ten were killed, including two children and three police.

But the attack at a Pakistani Air Force base in Kamra, while only injuring seven, has far more serious implications. The Kamra complex is a likely location for Pakistan’s nuclear weapons program. The suicide bomber targeted a bus filled with 35 children of Pakistani Air Force officers. The driver, a conductor, and five children were wounded in the strike.

Global Security notes the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex in Kamra is one of the Air Force sites likely associated with Pakistan nuclear weapons development.

“Bezness”- European Women, Victims of Arab Lover Boyz

* Just a Gigolo…

* Here a quick translation on an article posted at Jihad Watch Germany:

‘Bezness’- a word derived from the English ‘business’, is used in many Islamic countries to describe the love affairs between naive Western women and Arab men, who made it their business to target Western, infidel women, merely to suck them dry.

topimages.jpg

The Muslim pretends to be in love until he has fleeced his victim of her money and/or made her pregnant, which helps him to become a permanent resident or citizen in Europe. Then begins the brutality in the marriage, but the women remain silent because of shame. These ‘Bezness-men’ usually lose all interest in wife and kids once they have become citizens and treat their wife and family like garbage.

Germany has a help line and an organization to help women who have been damaged by these very professional ‘bezness-men’. Those who seek help should contact: Homepage der Bezness-geschädigten Evelyne Kern

Women who have been cheated out of their savings and betrayed by Arab-fairytale merchants, ‘bezness-men’, should contact the above organization.

The politicians and the media largely ignore these very serious crimes on these women constituents, who are deliberately and with malicious intend cheated out of everything they own and are traumatized, physically and psychologically damaged.

Political correctness is equally damaging and prevents the media from waging a campaign to further awareness. The victims are left to themselves. WDR and ZDF have managed to get the word out thanks to the organization of Evelyne Kern.

In the meantime there is also a data bank available where interested women can check if their lover is already blacklisted for his record of bezness-activities …

Bunglawussi Hijab Watch

* Bunglawussi fights for hijab as if his life depended on it. Check out his blog: these people are manic obsessives!

Quebec union leaders call for hijab ban

Quebec needs a “fundamental law” akin to the Charter of Rights that sets out clearly that public institutions, laws and the state are all neutral when it comes to religion, said Centrale president Rejean Parent. The new law would also “define (people’s) rights and duties . . . in other words, the rules of living together.”
Under a secular charter, employers would understand that they don’t have to agree to accommodate religious employees if, for example, they ask to be segregated from people of the opposite sex, Carbonneau said.

Canadian Muslim women’s soccer team fights ban

“There hasn’t been a case in the history of world soccer of someone actually choking on a hijab,” he said.

“They’re talking to me like a stranger, like they don’t want strangers in their leagues.

“But I’m not a stranger – I’ve played for Team Alberta.”

And Mahhid wants answers fast.

The ASA allowed Menhem to join her teammates on the pitch last week, while wearing a modified hijab tied at the back of the neck rather than under her chin, but has yet to rule on the Edmonton team.

“If she plays again this weekend but I have to cancel another game Monday, I’ll be considering my options,” Mahhid said.

Turkish lawyer shyster asks for cancellation of Italian team’s soccer victory because winners wore “offensive” t-shirt featuring cross

24796_news.jpg

The audacity of this PoS to make such a demand beggars belief!

* If you can’t win on the field, play the dhimmi card. “Fenerbahce To Ask Uefa For Three Points From Inter Match,” by Danilo Pochini for Goal.com

A Turkish lawyer has filed a complaint to Uefa after Inter wore a shirt with an offensive symbol, at least to Islamic culture, in their recent match against Fenerbahce.
A Turkish lawyer who’s an expert on European law, Baris Kaska, is asking Uefa to cancel the three points Inter earned in their win against Fenerbahce in the recent Champions League match.

The Nerazzurri had beaten the Turkish champions 3-0 at home to qualify for the next round of the Champions League.

The reason for the appeal is unusual: the celebratory shirt for Inter’s centenary worn by the team that night, and on several other occasions this season, offended many people in Turkey.

The shirt’s scheme saw a big red cross on a white background, a symbol of the city of Milan, and reminded many of an emblem of the order of the Templars, which is considered offensive in Islamic culture.

Inter consciously did not wear their ‘centenary shirt’ in their first match against Fenerbahce in Istanbul, but at home, they did not think it was necessary to do the same.

However, the very sensitive Turkish media reacted bitterly and that led to the official appeal filed by Kaska, who announced this decision during an interview to Barcelona daily La Vanguardia.

Ontario: Father nearly chokes girl to death after she refuses to wear hijab

It’s voluntary, we’re told endlessly. And it is, except when it isn’t. “Teen girl in critical condition after alleged dispute over hijab,” by Barry Hertz in the National Post

(from the ‘hijab liberates women’ department)

A 16-year-old girl is in critical condition after being choked by a man believed to be her father, apparently after a dispute with her family over her refusal to wear the hijab, the Islamic headscarf worn by some Muslim women.
The Post’s Chris Wattie updates this developing story:

Peel Regional Police arrested a 57-year-old man yesterday morning after receiving a 911 call from a suburban home in Mississauga from a man saying he had killed his daughter. When police and paramedics arrived at the house they found a 16-year-old lying on the floor without any vital signs, police said….

However, early police reports indicated the teenager had been choked and that the attacker was her father.

The girl was rushed to Credit Valley Hospital and later transferred to the Hospital for Sick Children, where she was listed in critical condition last night with life-threatening injuries.

Islam & The Dhimmi (yes, that’s you!)

“Do not initiate the Salam [greeting of peace] to the Jews and Christians, and if you meet any of them in a road, force them to its narrowest alley”

* Robert Spencer explains the relationship between the Muslim conquerors and the remaining infidel population after the soldiers of Allah made sufficient ‘slaughter in the land’- some great insights here!

The unbelievers are not allowed to:

1. Build “a monastery, church, or a sanctuary for a monk”;

2. “Restore any place of worship that needs restoration”;

3. Use such places “for the purpose of enmity against Muslims”;

4. “Allow a spy against Muslims into our churches and homes or hide deceit [or betrayal] against Muslims”;

5. Imitate the Muslims’ “clothing, caps, turbans, sandals, hairstyles, speech, nicknames and title names”;

6. “Ride on saddles, hang swords on the shoulders, collect weapons of any kind or carry these weapons”;

7. “Encrypt our stamps in Arabic”

8. “Sell liquor” – Christians in Iraq in the last few years ran afoul of Muslims reasserting this rule;

9. “Teach our children the Qur’an”;

10. “Publicize practices of Shirk” – that is, associating partners with Allah, such as regarding Jesus as Son of God. In other words, Christian and other non-Muslim religious practice will be private, if not downright furtive;

11. Build “crosses on the outside of our churches and demonstrating them and our books in public in Muslim fairways and markets” – again, Christian worship must not be public, where Muslims can see it and become annoyed;

12. “Sound the bells in our churches, except discreetly, or raise our voices while reciting our holy books inside our churches in the presence of Muslims, nor raise our voices [with prayer] at our funerals, or light torches in funeral processions in the fairways of Muslims, or their markets”;

13. “Bury our dead next to Muslim dead”;

14. “Buy servants who were captured by Muslims”;

15. “Invite anyone to Shirk” – that is, proselytize, although the Christians also agree not to:

16. “Prevent any of our fellows from embracing Islam, if they choose to do so.” Thus the Christians can be the objects of proselytizing, but must not engage in it themselves;

17. “Beat any Muslim.”

*

Meanwhile, the Christians will:

1. Allow Muslims to rest “in our churches whether they come by day or night”;

2. “Open the doors [of our houses of worship] for the wayfarer and passerby”;

3. Provide board and food for “those Muslims who come as guests” for three days;

4. “Respect Muslims, move from the places we sit in if they choose to sit in them” – shades of Jim Crow;

5. “Have the front of our hair cut, wear our customary clothes wherever we are, wear belts around our waist” – these are so that a Muslim recognizes a non-Muslim as such and doesn’t make the mistake of greeting him with As-salaamu aleikum, “Peace be upon you,” which is the Muslim greeting for a fellow Muslim;

6. “Be guides for Muslims and refrain from breaching their privacy in their homes.”

The Christians swore: “If we break any of these promises that we set for your benefit against ourselves, then our Dhimmah (promise of protection) is broken and you are allowed to do with us what you are allowed of people of defiance and rebellion.”

Of course, the Pact of Umar is a seventh-century document. But the imperative to subjugate non-Muslims as mandated by Qur’an 9:29 and elaborated by this Pact became and remained part of Islamic law. In the nineteenth century the Western powers began to pressure the last Islamic empire, the Ottoman Empire, to abolish the dhimma. In Baghdad in the early nineteenth century, Sheikh Syed Mahmud Allusi (1802-1853), author of the noted commentary on the Qur’an Ruhul Ma’ani, complains that the Muslims have grown so weak that the dhimmis pay the jizya through agents, rather than delivering it themselves on foot. In his Tafsir Anwar al-Bayan, the twentieth-century Indian Mufti Muhammad Aashiq Ilahi Bulandshahri laments that “in today’s times, the system of Atonement (Jizya) is not practised at all by the Muslims. It is indeed unfortunate that not only are the Muslim States afraid to impose Atonement (Jizya) on the disbelievers (kuffar) living in their countries, but they grant them more rights than they grant the Muslims and respect them more. They fail to understand that Allah desires that the Muslims show no respect to any disbeliever (kafir) and that they should not accord any special rights to them.”

The influential twentieth century jihadist theorist Sayyid Qutb (1906-1966) emphasizes that these rules should be revived, for “these verses are given as a general statement, and the order to fight the people of the earlier revelations until they pay the submission tax with a willing hand and are subdued is also of general import” (In the Shade of the Qur’an, Vol. VIII, p. 126).

Likewise the Pakistani jihadist writer and activist Syed Abul A’la Maududi (1903-1979) states that “the simple fact is that according to Islam, non-Muslims have been granted the freedom to stay outside the Islamic fold and to cling to their false, man-made, ways if they so wish.” That heads off any potential contradiction between his understanding of v. 29 and 2:256, “There is no compulsion in religion.” Maududi continues by declaring that the unbelievers “have, however, absolutely no right to seize the reins of power in any part of God’s earth nor to direct the collective affairs of human beings according to their own misconceived doctrines. For if they are given such an opportunity, corruption and mischief will ensue. In such a situation the believers would be under an obligation to do their utmost to dislodge them from political power and to make them live in subservience to the Islamic way of life” (Towards Understanding the Qur’an, vol. III, p. 202).

An important note I didn’t have room for above:

Islamic apologists in the West today commonly assert that 9:29 commands warfare only against the Jews and Christians who fought against Muhammad, and no others. I wish that every Muslim believed that, but unfortunately that has never been the mainstream Islamic understanding of this verse. Indeed, if it had been, the Pact of Umar, which I detail above, would never have been made — for it was made after Muhammad’s death with Christians against whom he did not fight. That in itself, as well as the teachings of all the schools of Islamic law, illustrates that this verse was always understood as having a universal application.

WHO concerned over ‘intolerable’ Gaza isolation

images8.jpeg

by Mehdi Lebouachera

The World Health Organisation voiced alarm on Monday about the health consequences of the “intolerable” isolation of the Gaza Strip, sealed off by Israel after Hamas seized control six months ago.

The WHO, which organised a Jerusalem symposium to highlight its concern, voiced particular alarm about Israeli fuel cuts, which it said affected Gaza hospitals, and limited access to outside treatment for those seriously ill.

“There is a situation of physical and mental isolation that has become intolerable,” Dr Ambrogio Manenti, head of the WHO for the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip, told AFP on the sidelines of the conference.

We as health professionals have to denounce this situation and the international community cannot tolerate it any longer,” he added.

Israel closed the Gaza Strip to all but essential humanitarian supplies after radical Islamist movement Hamas — which does not recognise the right of the Jewish state to exist — seized armed control in mid-June.

“The situation is under control, there is no outbreak of diseases but because of the social determinants we expect problems very soon,” said Manenti, who stressed there was no shortage of medication, imported without problem.

The WHO and the UN agency for Palestinian refugees urged “all parties involved to ensure that in the future all health facilities in Gaza are supplied with the appropriate amount of electricity and fuel.”

Israeli aid workers and the WHO charge that Israeli restrictions on patients being allowed to leave the Gaza Strip for treatment have endangered lives since Israel declared the Hamas-run territory a “hostile entity.”

The WHO says that 23 percent of requests in October for treatment in Israel were refused, compared with 17 percent in September and 10 percent in June.

“A number of people died in this process,” said WHO official Mahmud Daher.

But statistics on deaths blamed on the closure vary. The Palestinian health ministry says 23 people have died in recent months, while Physicians for Human Rights-Israel puts the number at 17.

Israel’s military rejects such statistics, saying only a small minority of requests are denied and that these apply only to people who pose a “security risk.”

But Manenti likened the system of granting permits to a Franz “Kafka novel,” with an increasing number of hoops to jump through to get a green light.

“They control how humanitarian cases are defined and entirely block the system,” said Hadas Ziv, director of Physicians for Human Rights.

In September, she said cancer patient Nael al-Kurdi was considered a security risk while he was “stuck in his bed and couldn’t move.” He died on November 17.

* Strangely, the UN sponsored WHO didn’t mention anything about the daily barrage of Quassam rockets into Israel…

Hamas leader whines to U.S. about deplorable conditions Hamas has created

Chutzpah Alert. “Hamas asks US to free Gaza ‘ghetto,'” by Martin Chulov in The Australian (thanks to JW):

THE Hamas rulers of Gaza have implored the US to bring an end to the crippling boycott of the Gaza Strip, which they have likened to the World War II siege of Warsaw’s Jewish Ghetto.
In the militant group’s first public appeal to the US since it won democratic elections in the Palestinian Territories in January last year Hamas said yesterday it did not have “any ideological arguments with the West”.

Say what? Well, I suppose after Annapolis, it isn’t so farfetched to think that the West subscribes to the Hassan Al-Banna epigraph in the Hamas Charter: “Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it.”

Hamas spokesman, Ahmed Yousef, said the group had tried unsuccessfully many times to directly contact US and European Union officials.

Fatah, Hamas – What’s the Difference?

* Fatah scumbag Mahmoud Dahlan spills the beans in an interview to a Kuwaiti newspaper, and sez aloud what most people already know:

IsraelNN.com) Senior Fatah terrorist Mahmoud Dahlan spoke to a Kuwaiti newspaper this week, saying that Hamas must turn control of Gaza over to the Fatah-led Palestinian Authority before the two groups can reunite. The groups have similar long-term goals, he said, “From a practical standpoint, there are no large differences between the two sides.”

Both groups demand control over Judea, Samaria, historic Jerusalem, and Gaza, he said. Both also demand the “return” to Israel of several million foreign Arabs who claim descent from those who fled the country during the War of Independence. The main difference between the two groups is that Hamas does not recognize the authority of Fatah, the Oslo agreements, or the PA, he said.

Ex-Italian President: CIA & Mossad Behind 9/11….

Hat tip: Weasel Zippers

fran.jpg

* Former President of Italy, Francesco Cossiga, gave an interview to an Italian newspaper claiming the Mossad and CIA were behind 9/11. The truthers, in typical fashion, are now spreading a translation of his interview through various websites….

* Why is this kook not in an asylum?

A searing indictment by a former President of Italy, Gladio Francesco Cossiga, that the 911 attack was engineered by the CIA and Mossad, revealed last week in Italy’s most respected newspaper Corriere della Sera is definitely a story we will not see in American mainstream media. The unsubstantiated accusation by the retired head of Italy’s government is not to be taken lightly, and adds to a growing body of evidence supporting the view held by many that 911 was a false flag operation costing three thousand innocent lives in New York City, initiating the invasion of Afghanistan and the debacle in Iraq, and setting the West on its current course into the unending “War on Terror”.

Cossiga’s new revelations appeared last week in Italy’s oldest and most widely read newspaper, Corriere della Sera. Below appears a rough translation.

[Bin Laden supposedly confessed] to the Qaeda September [attack] to the two towers in New York [claiming to be] the author of the attack of the 11th, while all the [intelligence services] of America and Europe … know know well that the disastrous attack has been planned and realized from the CIA American and the Mossad with the aid of the Zionist world in order to put under accusation the Arabic Countries and in order to induce the western powers to take part … in Iraq [and] Afghanistan.”

Desmond Tutu: US Detaining al-Qaeda Suspects Like “Apartheid-Era Gov’t”….

U.S. and British policies like apartheid-era government: Tutu

By Wendell Roelf/via Weasel Zippers

Archbishop Desmond Tutu accused the United States and Britain on Monday of pursuing policies like those of South Africa’s apartheid-era government by detaining terrorism suspects without trial.

At an event to commemorate the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UNDR), the Nobel laureate said the detention of suspected al Qaeda and Taliban members at the U.S. naval base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, was a “huge blot on a democracy.”

“Whoever imagined that you would hear from the United States and from Britain the same arguments for detention without trial that were used by the apartheid government,” Tutu told a news conference in Cape Town.

* Tutu of the bleeding hearts:

Tutu is chairman of the Elders, a group of prominent international statesmen that includes former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela and his Mozambican-born wife Graca Machel.

* Scum, pure scum, no matter what you may think of Mandela: check this out, here

The group is spearheading a campaign to get one billion people to sign a pledge reaffirming the principles of the UNDR, passed by the United Nations General Assembly on December 10, 1948.

Tutu, who helped lead the struggle to overthrow white minority rule in South Africa, said he was surprised so many Americans had accepted the argument that the Guantanamo detentions were necessary because of national security.

“It is exactly what the apartheid government used to say here,” the Anglican cleric said.

His remarks come amid a growing outcry over alleged abuses at Guantanamo, which in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001, attacks on the United States was used as a mass detention centre for suspected violent Islamic radicals.

Critics have said that the United States has circumvented international law by holding detainees without charge, often for years, and violated their human rights with forced confessions and torture tactics.

President George W. Bush says the detentions are lawful, humane and necessary as part of its fight against extremists in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere in the world.

The U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to hear a legal challenge by Guantanamo inmates who are contesting their detention.
