Omar Bakri Mohammed, arguably one of the most notorious and vilest jihad vampires ever to suck the blood of unsuspecting Britons, was the only one who left (ironically) of his own accord, before he could be arrested and deported. As for the other 499 scumbags awaiting deportation, it has become very quiet. BLiar failed to deliver and his successor, Gordon Brown is wearing so much brown lipstick that his lips stopped moving altogether.

Al-Muhajiroun withdrew from the covenant following the Anglo-American invasion of Iraq in 2003, leaving it free to support attacks on the United Kingdom such as those carried out in July 2005.

Outlawed Islamic fanatic Omar Bakri Mohammed has vowed to defy a ban on him returning to Britain – and challenged anti-terror cops to charge him or leave him alone.
The cleric – accused of turning young British Muslims to al-Qaeda with hate-filled sermons – claims he must fly to London to see his sick 12-year-old daughter.

Bakri begged Government officials to give him a two-week visa, insisting he’d had NOTHING to do with terrorism during the 20 years he lived in the UK.

But then he shot himself in the foot by launching a bizarre videoed rant against the country which still shelters his wife and six children.

Amazingly we captured him on video as he exploded. He shook his fist and shouted: “You are just a people of fish and chips and hot dogs.
“Don’t tell me you are the best nation. This idea you are the best nation. You are the best nation for your culture. What is your culture?”

Later, at a seaside restaurant, he said he hoped Islam’s draconian Sharia law would be global.

He said: “Yes, I do want to see the black flag of Islam over 10 Downing Street as I want to see it everywhere in the world. That is God’s will.

“It doesn’t matter if not everyone is Muslim so long as we get rid of this man-made law.
“Man-made law is corrupted. One minute you say homosexuals are banned then they are allowed. Man changes his mind. Sharia law is based on a message from God.” And he dismissed claims he had urged Muslims to blow up Dublin airport last November, insisting it was a “sarcastic” joke because he knew he was being monitored by government agents.
Bakri – currently living in a posh three-bedroom flat overlooking the Mediterranean – was mobbed by supporters when he gave us a tour of the area and bragged: “I have got a very strong influence here.”
Asked about the crowds waiting to greet him, he told us: “You are used to seeing that only when people do it with a star, a pop star. But for them they do it out of respect. They treat me like a spiritual leader.”
Bakri claimed British backers help fund his lifestyle.
He said: “When people like you they have an Islamic bond with you – it is so powerful. They treat you like a brother or father – sometimes more than that.”

Top Tory MP David Willetts said: “He should never be allowed to set foot on British soil again.”
And the Lib Dems’ Home Affairs spokesman Jeremy Browne said:
“We are a welcoming nation – but our distinctive hospitality should not be abused.”

Israel to come under Sharia law, says Israeli Arab cleric

That’s what the jihad is about — imposing Islamic law.

A leading Israeli Arab Muslim cleric said at the weekend that the Jewish state will very soon cease to exist and the whole of the country will come under Sharia (strict Islamic) law as another piece in the puzzle to reconstituting the Islamic Caliphate.

Indeed. “Palestine” is only a means to an end — a “no-state solution,” if you will, where nationalism is concerned.

In an interview with a local Arabic-language newspaper, Sheikh Kamal Khatib, deputy head of northern Israel’s Islamic Movement, insisted that the world is “on the threshold of a new era. The future belongs to Islam and the Muslims.”

Also at the weekend, Khatib’s boss, Sheikh Raed Salah denounced current peace negotiations leading to a two-state solution to the Israeli-Arab conflict as an “evil Israeli scheme.” Salah, who is also an Israeli citizen, has long maintained that that Muslim world must not recognize Israel’s right to exist.

The Call of Duty—and Destiny

In one of the great epics of Western literature, the hero, confronted by numerous and powerful enemies, temporarily gives in to weakness and self-pity. “I wish,” he sighs, “none of this had happened.” The hero’s wise adviser responds, “So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide.” The old man continues, “There are other forces at work in this world … besides the will of evil.” Some events, he adds, are “meant” to be, “And that is an encouraging thought.”

Indeed it is. Perhaps, today, we are meant to live in these times. Perhaps right here, right now, we are meant to be tested. Maybe we are meant to have faith that other forces are at work in this world, that we are meant to rediscover our strength and our survival skills.

And so the question: can we, the people of the West, be brought to failure despite our enormous cultural and spiritual legacy? Three thousand years of history look down upon us: does this generation wish to be remembered for not having had the strength to look danger squarely in the eye? For having failed to harness our latent strength in our own defense?

With apologies to the frankenfood-fearers and polar bear-sentimentalizers, the biggest danger we face is the Clash of Civilizations, especially as we rub against the “bloody borders” of Islam.

What if, in the coming century, we lose that clash—and the source of our civilization? What if Muslims take over Europe? What if “Eurabia” indeed comes to pass? Would Islamic invaders demolish the Vatican, as the Taliban dynamited Afghanistan’s Buddhas of Bamyan in 2001? Or would they settle merely for stripping the great cathedrals of Europe of all their Christian adornment, rendering them into mosques? And what if the surviving non-Muslim population of Europe is reduced to subservient “dhimmitude”?

The article stated: “This Koran commentary, intended for children, includes erroneous ideas which incite against the followers of the [other] monotheistic religions. For instance, the interpretation of the Al-Fatiha Sura [the first Sura of the Koran], states that [the expression] ‘those who earn Thine [i.e., Allah’s] anger’ refers to the Jews, and [the expression] ‘those who go astray’ refers to the Christians. The Vatican responded Friday to the open letter sent at the end of Ramadan by 138 Muslim scholars to Pope Benedict XVI and a wide array of other Christian leaders. The response was somewhat deflating, given the mainstream media’s enthusiasm over the Muslim letter — an enthusiasm which the senders must have anticipated. Noting the Muslim scholars’ declaration that “the future of the world depends on peace between Muslims and Christians,” the Telegraph‘s headline was typical of the coverage: “Muslim scholars’ olive branch to Christians.” Reuters burbled about an “Unprecedented Muslim call for peace with Christians.” But was it really?

This week’s response from Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran, the President of the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, hardly seemed sporting. Tauran observed that the possibility of serious dialogue between Muslims and Christians was limited by the traditional Islamic understanding of the Muslim holy book: “Muslims,” he said, “do not accept that one can discuss the Koran in depth, because they say it was written by dictation from God. With such an absolute interpretation, it is difficult to discuss the contents of faith.”

Tauran went on to call for reciprocity between the treatment of Christians in Islamic lands and the treatment of Muslims in the West, decrying the fact that Muslims are permitted to build mosques freely in Europe, but Christians face difficulties or outright bans when trying to build churches in Muslim lands. “In a dialogue among believers, it is fundamental to say what is good for one is good for the other.”

But that presumes an equality of religions, and that one can admit the legitimacy of the other. And that is the element missing from the proposed debate.

Vatican rejects ‘Islamic Love’ overtures:

On the basis of the letter alone, it’s surprising that there has ever been conflict between Muslims and Christians, or Muslims and anyone. The scholars say: “in obedience to the Holy Qur’an, we as Muslims invite Christians to come together with us on the basis of what is common to us, which is also what is most essential to our faith and practice: the Two Commandments of love.” Yet the “Two Commandments of love” were nowhere in evidence last August when an Egyptian convert from Islam to Christianity was sentenced to death by Islamic clerics. “The Two Commandments of love” have not saved Christians in Baghdad, where Islamic gangs knocked on doors in Christian neighborhoods, demanding payment of the jizya tax specified for non-Muslims by the Qur’an (9:29). Nor is Iraq the only problem area: in Egypt, Coptic Christians have suffered discrimination and harassment for centuries, and their plight is increasing. In Pakistan a prominent Catholic priest said in August 2007 that Christians are frequently denied equality of rights with Muslims and subjected to various forms of discrimination.

 RESPONSE TO OPEN LETTER AND CALL FROM MUSLIM RELIGIOUS LEADERS TO CHRISTIAN LEADERS, 13 OCTOBER 2007:

Reading between the lines

On the surface the letter looks like a well intentioned and urgent plea for a better understanding between Muslims and Christians, so as to avert an apocalyptic war between the two largest religious blocs in the world.

If Muslims and Christians are not at peace, the world cannot be at peace . . . the very survival of the world itself is at stake . . . So let our differences not cause hatred and strife between us.

However, the letter goes on to lay the blame for all wars in which Muslims and Christians are involved on the actions of Christians.

As Muslims, we say to Christians that we are not against them and that Islam is not against them – so long as they do not wage war against Muslims on account of their religion, oppress them and drive them out of their homes. [emphasis added]

This implies that the war against Islamist terrorism is a global war of Christianity against Islam, and that Christianity is the aggressor against Islam (which is the radical Islamist view). There is no sense of sorrow or remorse for the wrongs inflicted by Muslims on Christians historically, or indeed currently in many Muslim lands. There is no recognition that in many places things may be the opposite, with Muslims oppressing Christians and driving them from their homes (e.g. in Iraq, Sudan, Nigeria, Indonesia and Pakistan). There is no mention of the Christian communities in Muslim lands suffering other kinds of persecution and discrimination. There is no admission that Muslim actions could have played any part in the alienation between Muslims and Christians.

Hitchens: Defending the Term ‘Islamofascism’ 

The term Islamofascism was first used in 1990 in Britain’s Independent newspaper by Scottish writer Malise Ruthven, who was writing about the way in which traditional Arab dictatorships used religious appeals in order to stay in power. I didn’t know about this when I employed the term “fascism with an Islamic face” to describe the attack on civil society on Sept. 11, 2001, and to ridicule those who presented the attack as some kind of liberation theology in action. “Fascism with an Islamic face” is meant to summon a dual echo of both Alexander Dubcek and Susan Sontag (if I do say so myself), and in any case, it can’t be used for everyday polemical purposes, so the question remains: Does Bin Ladenism or Salafism or whatever we agree to call it have anything in common with fascism?placeAd2(’news/slate’,’midarticleflex’,true)

I think yes. The most obvious points of comparison would be these: Both movements are based on a cult of murderous violence that exalts death and destruction and despises the life of the mind. (“Death to the intellect! Long live death!” as Gen. Francisco Franco’s sidekick Gonzalo Queipo de Llano so pithily phrased it.) Both are hostile to modernity (except when it comes to the pursuit of weapons), and both are bitterly nostalgic for past empires and lost glories. Both are obsessed with real and imagined “humiliations” and thirsty for revenge. Both are chronically infected with the toxin of anti-Jewish paranoia (interestingly, also, with its milder cousin, anti-Freemason paranoia). Both are inclined to leader worship and to the exclusive stress on the power of one great book. Both have a strong commitment to sexual repression—especially to the repression of any sexual “deviance”—and to its counterparts the subordination of the female and contempt for the feminine. Both despise art and literature as symptoms of degeneracy and decadence; both burn books and destroy museums and treasures.

Fascism (and Nazism) also attempted to counterfeit the then-success of the socialist movement by issuing pseudo-socialist and populist appeals. It has been very interesting to observe lately the way in which al-Qaida has been striving to counterfeit and recycle the propaganda of the anti-globalist and green movements.

Bin Laden issues Iraq message

Osama Bin Laden, the al-Qaeda leader, has released a new audiotape calling on fighters in Iraq to unite and stand shoulder to shoulder.

In the tape broadcast by Al Jazeera on Monday, a voice sounding like bin Laden admitted that mistakes have been made in Iraq and exhorted the fighters to rectify them.
“Some of you have been lax in one duty, which is to unite your ranks,” bin Laden said. “Beware of division … The Muslim world is waiting for you to gather under one banner.”
In the audio recording, entitled “a message to the people of Iraq”, bin Laden called on tribal leaders and the leaders of armed groups to initiate an agreement between the different groups.

“The interest of the Islamic nation surpasses that of a group,” he said.

In recent months Sunni tribal groups have formed alliances and worked with US forces to confront al-Qaeda in Iraq.

Prisoners riot in Israeli jail

Clashes have flared in an Israeli jail, with about 1,000 Palestinian prisoners attacking prison guards and torching the tents where they had been held.

Thirty people were injured in the incident which occurred early on Monday at the Ketziot prison in the southern Negev desert, a prison spokesman said.
Ian Domnitz, a spokesman for the Israel Prisons Authority, said the violence broke out after guards began searching prisoners’ bunks for contraband.

The Prisoners Club, the main group representing Palestinians held in Israel, termed the cell searches “provocative”.

Ketziot is set up like a military camp, with security prisoners quartered in tents rather than buildings.

Riots quelled

In Monday’s riot, prisoners set 10 tents on fire and attacked the guards, wounding 15 of them, Domnitz said.

Prison officers moved in to quell the riot, injuring 15 prisoners, he said.

Four prisoners were hospitalised, with one critically wounded by a “non-lethal weapon”, Domnitz said.

“The weapon was used in response to the endangerment of the lives of prison officers in the cell block,” he said.

In the West Bank, Nabil Abu Rdeneh, a spokesman for Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian president, accused Israel of conducting a “repression campaign” against the prisoners.

He said the prison guards had used clubs, stun grenades and tear gas to disperse the crowd and said 250 people were injured.

The Dutch are leaving their homeland in record numbers – the first nine months of 2006 saw some 100,000 depart, an increase of 12 percent over the previous year. Also, according to the “Emigration Monitor,” 32 percent of the Dutch population is seriously considering emigration, as opposed to 26 percent last year, a 23 percent increase. As opposed to “Give me your tired, your poor” many jurisdictions in the new world have discovered that the disgruntled Dutch are anything but tired and poor. They’re young, affluent, well-educated, entrepreneurial, fluent in English.

Update on the Dutch Intifadah:

Media now reports that the sister of the terrorist Bilal Bajaka is a Dutch judge. That’s right, a judge. In the Netherlands you can become a judge while you’re brothers are terrorists!

Today also a media car was attacked while filming the burned out vehicles in front of the police station at the Allebeplein. “Youths” who did not agree with the filming threw a rock through the windshield of the camera crew. And although there is now special police security around the police station, the police was not able to apprehend the attackers. I guess that is just how it goes when you want to appease at all cost.

Biggest Dutch Weblog geenstijl, reports some interesting facts in the case. They write about how the Dutch authorities try to spin this jihad attack as just an act of a mentally disturbed person. But also name some interesting facts the other media outlets have not yet reported.

It seems that Bilal has shouted in Arabic when he attacked the police officers. This could very well be something like “Allah Akbar”, but thats something the Dutch authorities don’t want the public to know.

Also they report that Bilal has visited the nearby mosque, before doing his attack. He might even have received his weapon of attack there. Because he had just escaped his supervisor of the mental institution a half hour before. It’s unlikely, though not impossible, that he already had the knife when he escaped.

Dutch newspaper de Telegraaf reports that according to a manager of the mental clinic Bilal was not schizophrenic criminal, he was friendly and cooperative guy, who was never was aggressive. In other words he was just treated for his mere suicidal tendencies. He also was from a well to do family and was a smart student. And a Muslim.

Regarding the “racist” label: I have never spent much time worrying
about skin color, but I do notice I am starting to grow a tad tired of

background are currently among the planet’s least racist groups.

a situation where thousands of years of what once was a great
civilization go up in smoke because people were too scared of being
called bad names. Neither do I want to lose because we were paralyzed worrying about imaginary Fascists while the real Fascists took over.

American Muslims Must Learn To Accept Free Speech

And I’m not just talking about Muslims. A lot of people need to take a time-out instead of getting all upset anytime someone says something you don’t agree with.
Almost every day, I read about some group upset something was said. It’s called racist, insensitive, intolerant, and I’m finding I’m repeating myself on these points every few columns. At the same time, liberals call conservatives every name they can think of, because when THEY do it, that’s okay because THEY are the enlightened.

So you can imagine the head-shaking I performed when I saw this….

Local Muslims upset by UW campus event

A controversial week of events, billed as Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week, launches at the University of Washington and some 100 other colleges next week — drawing condemnations from Muslim groups here and across the country.
The UW College Republicans, organizer of the local events, say the week is intended to foster awareness of the terrorist threat posed by a small number of extremists within Islam.
But some local Muslims say the week fosters Islamophobia and racism and attempts to paint all Muslims as terrorists.

Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week, launched this year by a recent graduate of Duke University and sponsored by the Los Angeles-based David Horowitz Freedom Center, is intended to “confront the two Big Lies of the political left: that George Bush created the war on terror and that Global Warming is a greater danger to Americans than the terrorist threat,” according to its Web site.
The Web site includes suggested campus activities such as holding sit-ins outside women’s studies departments to protest “the silence of feminists over the oppression of women in Islam” and holding a memorial service for the “victims of Islamo-Fascist violence around the world.”
Again, we’ve bent over backwards for Muslims in America, and what do we get as thanks? Well, certainly not always “Thanks.”

Bush renews Saudi Arabia as anti-terror ally despite concerns

I hereby certify that Saudi Arabia is cooperating with efforts to combat international terrorism and that the proposed assistance will help facilitate that effort,” the president said in a memorandum to US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to free up aid from Washington to Riyadh.

A little more than a month ago, the US Treasury undersecretary for terrorism and financial intelligence, Stuart Levey, charged that Saudi Arabia had failed to prosecute the bankrollers of terrorist groups.

Australia discovers Fat Anglos and Solid Muslims

A professor of nutrition thinks that culture is more important than health:

When is a fat child not really fat, after all?

THE obesity epidemic among Australian children has been grossly overstated, according to a study that reveals the problem is concentrated among poorer families and some ethnic groups…

The study showed more than 17 per cent of children from a Middle Eastern background were obese, 8 per cent of Aboriginal children and 7 per cent of those from a southern European background.

This compared with 5.7 per cent of Anglo-Australian children…

Dr O’Dea said it was important to work in culturally sensitive ways with communities to determine the best way to reduce the risk of diabetes.

“We want to avoid stigmatising already socially marginalised groups,” she said.

She described as “a disaster” plans by federal Labor to weigh and measure every child starting school. She said in some cultures fatness was not seen as a problem, and initiatives might need to focus on increasing physical activity rather than weight loss.

In other cultures, it was unrealistic to expect girls to engage in high-level physical activity.

“Fatness is here to stay,” she said.

I think the good doctor means that girls find it hard to run in a burqa – which turns fat into a problem best left alone.

Smokers irrational, like animals, says Malaysian cleric

“People who do not want to think are like animals,” Nik Aziz told the launch of an anti-smoking campaign in Kota Baru, the capital of Malaysia’s northeastern state of Kelantan, which is his party’s last remaining bastion.

Nik Aziz, himself a non-smoker, has earlier said smokers would not be included among his party’s candidates at Malaysia’s next general elections, widely expected to be called as soon as early next year.

‘Muslim Live 8’ raises money for Darfur

Thousands of British Muslims gathered at Wembley Arena for a charity peace concert dubbed “Muslim Live 8” to raise money for victims of Sudan’s long-running Darfur conflict.

The concert, starring top Islamic singer Sami Yusuf, was backed by the British Government, which is spearheading efforts to press the Sudanese Government to stop violence in the western province.

The event at London’s Wembley Arena, called A Concert for Peace in Darfur, also aimed to promote efforts to unite the community amid widespread suspicion of Islam in Britain.

“An injustice anywhere is an attack on justice everywhere and so we will continue working together with all of you to bring this suffering to an end,” said Prime Minister Gordon Brown in a pre-recorded video message.

“I want to thank all of you … from the artists and musicians who are performing here today, to religious leaders from all communities who have been leading prayers and campaigns for the people of Darfur.”

Mr Brown added: “The fact that so many of you are here tonight shows how deeply people from communities all over Britain care about the people of Darfur and their plight.”

All profits from the event will go to Islamic Relief to help fund its work in Darfur.

Immigrant “youths” riot when police actually defend themselves

Disturbances broke out for a sixth successive night in an immigrant quarter of Amsterdam when four cars were set on fire, police said.

The unrest started after police shot dead a man of Moroccan origin last weekend who had stabbed and injured two officers.

The fires brought the total number of burnt cars to 11, a police spokesman said.

The 22-year-old Moroccan had been undergoing treatment for psychiatric problems and had in the past been questioned over contacts with Islamic militants linked to the murderer of Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh.

The Netherlands is home to about one million Muslims out of a population of 16 million. Most live in the big cities.

In her first interview since the Netherland said it would no longer pay for round-the-clock protection while she is abroad, Hirsi Ali says the decision was not based on money but on principles.

‘It costs less to let me be protected by a US security company than a Dutch one,’ the former MP is quoted as saying.

‘I think the government wants to sent a message out to others in the Netherlands, that they should keep quiet. They apparently want to reassure Muslims by saying ‘look, we are on your side. Hirsi Ali is a baddie, we are the goodies’,’ Hirsi Ali said.

Justice minister Ernst Hirsch Ballin stopped paying for Hirsi Ali’s security on October 1, shortly after she was awarded a green card for permanent residence in the US. She is now raising the money privately.

Oh really? There are two problems with this statement and they are exceedingly, and profoundly, at odds with the Constitution for the United States that the Secretary has sworn an oath to defend:

1. The use of the adjective “Holy” by a member of the president’s cabinet in a statement issued in the course of executing their official duty is a direct affront to the phrase, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion” that is enshrined in Amendment I to the Constitution. No government official has the authority to even suggest to the citizens of the United States what is “holy” or not “holy”. Doing so is an assault on personal liberty itself. The individual, and only the individual, is endowed with the right to decide what is, and what is not “holy”. Members of all branches of government need to reflect deeply on this point and to ensure that such language is never used in an official capacity. The citizens do not suggest it, they demand it, as it is their right to demand it.

2. “Disrespect” for the Koran has never been tolerated in the United States? Which United States are we talking about here, Madam Secretary? For it cannot be the United States of America with its 1st constitutional amendment stating, “Congress shall make no law … abridging the freedom of speech …”. I remind Madam Secretary that any citizen of the United States possesses the right to burn the Koran, defecate on the Koran, flush the Koran, roll up and smoke the Koran, or the Bible, or the Bagavad Gita, or the Zendavesta, or the Mahabharata, or the Torah, etc., as an expression of free speech.

Houston, we’ve got a problem. You see, in fact, “disrespect” for the Koran is now tolerated, has always been tolerated, and will always be tolerated in the United States, at least it will be for as long as there are patriots alive who are willing to defend the rights granted to them by the Founding Fathers. I suggest that the members of the president’s cabinet have a refresher course on the Constitution. Perhaps a one-day seminar would do the trick. I’m available and my hourly rates are reasonable. Last year, there were 639 rapes in Switzerland. 309 of the 489 identified perpetrators, i.e. over 63%, were foreigners.

The term “Foreigners” includes the foreign-born as well as the Swiss-born children of such foreigners. Switzerland does not grant birthright citizenship. In this, and in its tough naturalization requirements, Switzerland remains, in some ways, the last remaining outpost of sanity in the Western world.

This prudent procedure has become a demolition target for the bien pensant elite in the Swiss federal government. They wish to replace the centuries-old Swiss confederate rights with federal power wielded along the “enlightened,” multicultural precepts of the European Union.

Micheline Calmy-Rey, president of Switzerland under a rotation system, has called SVP’s campaign “disgusting,” “dangerous” and not corresponding to “Switzerland’s multicultural openness to the world.” Swiss Interior Minister, Pascal Couchepin, has likened Christoph Blocher to Mussolini. These politicians are not coincidentally from Switzerland’s French-speaking region, where the country’s liberal center of gravity lies.

But he could not block a second vote on UN membership, which was carried in 2002….

The main talking point of the election – a poster showing three white sheep booting a black sheep off a Swiss flag – was withdrawn (by Blocher’s party) before polling day. The SVP maintains it was illustrating its policy of ejecting foreign criminals but political rivals said it was clearly racist.

A MAN has been jailed for at least nine years for raping four women and attacking two others.

Sedat Avci, 21, of Broadmeadows, terrorised women in the northern suburbs between April and August 2005.

Most victims were walking alone in the evening and were subjected to terrifying sex attacks.

Avci had pleaded guilty to seven counts of rape.

County Court Judge Jeanette Morrish said yesterday Avci had waged a “cowardly, aggressive and violent campaign” on vulnerable women but believed his prospects of rehabilitation were good because of his youth and his return to the Muslim faith.

She sentenced Avci to 16 years in jail, with a minimum of nine. The maximum term for rape is 25 years.

Crime Victims Support Association president Noel McNamara slammed the jail term and said he planned to write to the acting Director of Public Prosecutions, Jeremy Rapke.

“That’s 1.5 years each for six women who have got life sentences — it’s a terrible disgrace,” Mr McNamara said. “It’s a great insult to the victims and the community.”

Mr Rapke will review the case.

Avci was just 19 when he violently assaulted women in Coburg, Coolaroo, Brunswick and Hawthorn.

One victim was about to drive off when Avci asked to use her mobile phone. He then forced his way into her car and repeatedly raped her.

In a victim impact statement read in court, the woman said her life had been turned upside down.

“I will have to work every day of my life to make sure this doesn’t define who I am,” she said.

A victim who was raped twice while walking her dogs said the memory of the attack haunted her.

Avci also pleaded guilty to a count of aggravated burglary and another charge of robbery after attacking a pregnant woman in front of her children, aged three and four.

The serial rapist was arrested in August 2005 after police matched his fingerprints to those on a newspaper at the scene of an attack.

A psychiatric report revealed Avci did not have a mental impairment at the time of the attacks, but was using amphetamines.

Avci threatened most of his victims with a knife and in one case told a woman who tried to escape he would shoot her if she tried again.

In a letter of apology to his victims, Avci said he had “no good excuse” for what he had done.

“To say sorry is not enough to heal the heartache and pain I have caused to your lives and your families’ lives,” he said.

Italy: Muslim radicalism ‘on the rise’ survey finds

Paris, 15 Oct. (AKI) – Half of Italians believe that Islamic extremism is growing in their country, and over 50 percent believe it is a mounting worldwide threat. These are the findings of a survey carried out in Italy last month by the French satellite rolling news channel France24.

France24 surveyed 950 Italians from 20-23 September. A total 53 percent believed that Muslims have many more areas that unite them such as religion than those dividing them, such as nationalism.

Immigration is an area that splits Italians: one-third believe immigrants represent a threat, while 30 percent say they are a resource. Among this latter group, half view immigrants as an economic resource, while the other half consider immigrants to be a positive force for cultural interchange.

Almost three-quarters (74 percent) believe illegal immigration is a threat and 54 percent fear the growth of immigrant ghettos in Italian cities.

Most Italians believe that immigrants do not wish to integrate , while fewer than one-third blame Italian society for a lack of integration.

More than three-fifths (63 percent) think the immigration policies of the current Italian centre-left government led by Romano Prodi are inadequate
