Thirty people fanatical Islamo-terrorist scumbags went on trial Monday for  plotting to blow up a court that is the hub of Spain’s anti-terror investigations.

The 30 men, mostly Algerians, have been charged with membership of a terrorist organization, conspiracy to commit a terrorist attack and forgery.

The alleged mastermind Abderrahmane Tahiri, alias Mohamed Achraf, was extradited from Switzerland in April 2005.

Spanish authorities suspect Tahiri planned to ram a truck loaded with 1,100 pounds of explosives into the National Court in downtown Madrid.

“This was an organized and structured terrorist group, uncovered in November 2003, with radical Salafist tendencies, which defended the jihad (holy war) and intended carrying it out in Spain through violent actions such as that planned against the National Court and the persons within,” according to the indictment.

“With that explosion, they hoped to kill the persons within (judges, clerks and public in general) and destroy the files held against the ‘mujahedeen brotherhood’ inside,” the indictment said.

Investigating magistrate Fernando Grande-Marlaska said such an attack could have killed up to 1,000 people.

The prosecution is demanding sentences of between two and 46 years for the accused.

The trial is expected to last several months.

Police uncovered the alleged plot with the help of an unnamed informant who had lived with some of the accused.

In an initial investigation, Spanish Judge Baltasar Garzon claimed Tahiri set up a cell known as the “Martyrs for Morocco” while he served time in a Spanish prison for credit card fraud between 1999 and 2002.

Garzon said the cell had links with other Islamic terrorists, including the group believed to be behind the March 11 train bombings in Madrid that killed 191 people.

On October 12, Taliban leader Mullah Omar declared that it had reached a “success point” in its “jehad” (sic) against the Karzai government, and called upon other Jihadist organizations to finish the job in the Taliban’s attacks on US and NATO forces, and to overtake the Afghan government. UK predictably responded today by standing behind Karzai’s efforts to negotiate with the Taliban who seek to overtake the Karzai government, with the belief that it can “split” the Taliban, disregarding the Taliban’s Islamist constitution and shared Islamist beliefs of the Taliban ideology, as the UK/UN/NATO/US State Department goal’s remain focused on “stabilization” of Afghanistan.

In the United States, also on October 12, U.S. presidential candidate Mitt Romney issued an advertisement stating that his concerns regarding “Jihadism – violent, radical Islamic fundamentalism… [and] Their goal is to unite the world under a single Jihadist caliphate. To do that, they must collapse freedom-loving nations like us.”

These comments on Jihad were met with mockery, laughter, and scorn by elements in the mainstream media, blogs, and a spokesman for the Democratic National Committee. Newsweek mocked Romney’s concerns about Jihad, the Atlantic called such concerns “ridiculous”, bloggers issued text and video mocking comments about the concerns, and Democratic National Committee spokesman Damien LaVera stated that Romney’s comments on Jihad showed “no understanding of the threat facing our country”.

On October 13, Steven Emerson appeared on FOX cable news and was roundly condemned by Alan Colmes for his “offensive” use of the terms “Islamic Jihad”, “Islamic militant”, and “Islamic extremist.” Two weeks prior, Alan Colmes similarly mocked the Investigative Project’s (IPT) concerns about ex-Virginia immigration commission member Esam Omeish speeches calling for “the Jihad way” as nothing more than “conservative political correctness”. The Washington Post reported Esam Omeish’s justification for “the Jihad Way” as merely calling for “struggle”, and reported condemnations of the IPT revelations about Omeish as coming from “a small group of right-wing anti-Muslim bigots.”

This continuing dangerous denial of the threats of Jihad, its ideology, and refusal to debate the issues of political Islamism represents yet another fault line in America’s national security. When concerns about Jihad and Islamism are a source for mockery by American media and political organizations, then clearly the Jihadists and the Islamists are winning the War of Ideas.

Jihad is not a joke. Its ideology embracing death and causing violence is demonstrated every day throughout the world. Those mocking discussion of the threat and ideology of Jihad continue to undermine the War of Ideas in the United States, and undermine the efforts of moderate Muslims to fight Islamism and Jihadists. The growing denial is a bi-partisan problem that cuts across socio-economic backgrounds and levels of education.

THE HAGUE, 13/10/07 – Radical Muslims have taken control of the Dutch Muslim Broadcaster (NMO). At least three of the public broadcaster’s eight directors are extremely controversial, according to TV programme Nova.

Until recently, the Netherlands had two Islamic public broadcasters: the moderate NMO and the orthodox Dutch Islamic Broadcasting Organisation (NIO). Media watchdog Commissariaat voor de Media demanded that the two would merge so that the Islamic faith would have a single representative body in the public system. But according to Nova, this resulted in NIO staging a coup of NMO.

NMO has 2.5 transmission hours on TV each week. Following the alleged coup NMO now consists of eight directors, all of them representing orthodox currents. The representatives of the liberal Alevitic and Ahmadiyya currents, who chiefly ran NMO until recently, have been kicked out, as they themselves stated in Nova.

One of the members of the new board of directors is Yahia Bouyafa, who “is believed to have close ties to the Muslim Brotherhood,” as Nova reported. Another is Abdelmajid Kayroun, chairman of the Al Farouq mosque in Utrecht “whose imam was deported from the Netherlands in 2001 for espionage for the Libyan secret service”. Also among the eight directors is Mohammed Nanhekhan, a member of the “radical movement World Islamic Mission”.

The Commissionership for the Media says it has “no indications” that anything is wrong. It will only instigate an inquiry if the Justice Ministry or the secret service AIVD requests it, as a spokesperson stated.

Nova asked MP Jeroen Dijsselbloem (PvdA) for a reaction. He expressed his concern over “the increasing influence of conservative Islam within various Islamic organisations in the Netherlands”.

Brian Mikkelsen, the Danish culture minister, has indicated the government would be willing to allow outspoken Dutch-Somali author Ayaan Hirsi Ali to live in Denmark under its protection from fanatical Muslims seeking to kill her.

Over the weekend Mikkelsen sent out a request to the country’s municipalities to invite the threatened author and filmmaker to live here. The move is supported by a recent parliament proposal to establish several ‘free cities’ for persecuted writers, a programme to be created with the support of the International City of Refuge Network.

‘Ayaan Hirsi Ali will be number one on the list of authors we should invite to Denmark,’ Mikkelsen announced on Sunday. ‘She has fought for the freedom of expression and has personally received threats on her life.’

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands (AP) – A U.S. think-tank said Tuesday funds have been established in the United States and the Netherlands to help pay protection costs for Dutch author Ayaan Hirsi Ali, the target of death threats as a result of her criticism of radical Islam.
Earlier this month, the Dutch government said it would no longer foot an annual bill of roughly ¤2 million (US$3 million) for Hirsi Ali while she lives in the United States…

London — A Christian couple were flogged in Iran for participating in an “underground Church”, an Iranian Christian group said in a report on its website earlier this week.

The unnamed couple were arrested on September 21, 2005, the report said, adding that a Revolutionary Court reviewed their case in July 2007.

Even though the couple had decided to marry seven years ago, the country’s marriage laws – which prohibit the union of ex-Muslims and members of other religious minorities — prevented them from obtaining a certificate of marriage.

The report said that the woman was born a Christian in an Assyrian-Iranian family and the man was a convert to Christianity prior to getting married.

The court ruled that both the man and the woman were Mortad, a description of someone who has committed apostasy by leaving Islam.

KABUL, Afghanistan – A mother who tried to stop her son from carrying out a suicide bomb attack triggered an explosion in the family’s home in southern Afghanistan that killed the would-be bomber, his mother and three siblings, police said Monday.

In a second accidental explosion, another would-be bomber died Friday in Paktika province after he identified himself to police and began taking off his bomb vest, Bashary said.

The bomber said he changed his mind and was aborting the suicide mission because he saw people praying in a mosque. But he accidentally triggered a blast as he slipped off the vest that killed only himself, Bashary said.

News reports out of Gaza last week have detailed the torture and murder of a prominent Christian Arab resident. His crime? Apparently being a prominent Christian Arab resident, who owned the only Christian bookstore in Gaza. Lest anyone think this was an isolated incident, the same bookstore had been firebombed in April and a Christian convent and school were ransacked during the bloody Hamas coup in June. “I expect our Christian neighbors to understand the new Hamas rule means real changes. They must be ready for Islamic rule if they want to live in peace in Gaza,” said Sheik Abu Saqer, leader of Jihadia Salafiya, an Islamic outreach movement that recently announced the opening of a “military wing” to enforce Muslim law in Gaza (from Ynet News in June)

The recent history of how Christians have been treated both by the Palestinian Authority, as well as the jihadist gangs that operate freely within it, should give pause to those who still operate under the delusion that the Jewish state could be subsumed into a “binational” Jewish-Arab state comprising Israel, the West Bank and Gaza. At the time of the Six-Day War, Christian Arabs comprised 20% of the population of the West Bank and Gaza; today, mostly because of emigration, it’s 2% (source: Catholic News Agency). Interestingly, the Christian population of the State of Israel has grown from 32,000 at independence to 130,000 (80% of this group are Arab) in 2000. So it appears that life in a Jewish state is a much better alternative to living under the rule of the Palestinian Authority– and this was BEFORE the Hamas coup.

Few people seem to recall the siege at the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem in March 2002 when wanted terrorists from Hamas and from Fatah’s own al-Aqsa brigades seized the church and used the priests and nuns inside as human shields to avoid capture by the IDF. Such a violation of holy places would provoke worldwide outcry against the perpetrators–except when it comes to Islamic terrorists.

One of Yasir Arafat’s many legacies has been to “de-Christianize” the area set aside for a future Palestinian state– without question, an example of ethnic cleansing . And if that’s how they treated their fellow Arab Palestinians, how does any rational person think the Jews are going to be treated?

RAMALLAH, West Bank – The time has come for establishing a Palestinian state and it’s in the interest of the U.S. to do so, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Monday in one of her most forceful idiotic statements yet on the issue.

The comments from Rice, after a meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, suggested that the Bush administration is determined to try to bridge the wide gaps between Israel and the Palestinians ahead of a U.S.-hosted Mideast conference.

The gathering is expected to take place next month, though a date has not been announced. Moderate Arab countries, whose participation is widely viewed as critical, have not committed to attending.

Standing next to Abbas, Rice defined Palestinian statehood as a U.S. interest. “Frankly, it’s time for the establishment of a Palestinian state,” Rice said.

This comes as Mahmoud Abbas and his cronies are demanding full control of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount, the “right of return,” and the release of all terrorists from Israeli jails. And it comes even as the Palestinians continue trying to commit mass murder.

There’s a word for this, and it isn’t “sanity.”

The First and Last Enemy: Jew-Hatred in Islam

Fawaz Damra, the former Imam of the Islamic Center of Cleveland was convicted in 2004 for lying to immigration officials about his links to the terrorist group Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), and subsequently deported. Yet Damra was touted as a promoter of  interfaith dialogue even after evidence of his participation in fundraising events for the PIJ, was produced, along with a videotape of the Imam telling a crowd of Muslim supporters in 1991 that they should aim “…a rifle at the first and last enemy of the Islamic nation, and that is the sons of monkeys and pigs, the Jews.”

As I will demonstrate, Imam Damra’s blatant Jew-hatred was fully sanctioned by — indeed he was merely paraphrasing, and quoting directly from — the core religious texts of Islam. And the historical treatment of Jews in Muslim societies has been consistent with this sacralized religious bigotry. Sheer ignorance of such theology and history, combined with craven denial, allowed Damra’s words to go unchallenged for more than a decade. However the Damra affair is pathognomonic of a much larger and more dangerous phenomenon: the complete, often willful failure to examine and understand the living legacy of Islam’s foundational anti-Jewish animus.

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said on Saturday she had urged the Turkish government to refrain from any major military operation in northern Iraq. U.S. officials fear such a move could destabilize a relatively peaceful area of Iraq.

Turkish artillery fired seven to eight shells into a village in northern Iraq late on Saturday, witnesses said, the latest bout of shelling of the mountainous border area where separatist guerrillas are believed to hide out.

AMBASSADOR RECALLED

Ankara recalled its ambassador from the United States for consultations after the U.S. congressional committee vote, which was condemned in predominantly Muslim but secular Turkey.

The House of Representatives is due to vote on the symbolic measure, sponsored by a California lawmaker whose district has a large Armenian-American constituency, by mid-November.

U.S. President George W. Bush voiced his concerns last week, saying: “This resolution is not the right response to these historic mass killings, and its passage would do great harm to our relations with a key ally in NATO and in the global war on terror.”

ASADABAD, Afghanistan (AFP) — The US military said it would investigate claims that its soldiers had burnt a copy of the Koran in Afghanistan, as angry locals demanded action and threatened retaliation.

Allegations that troops tore up and burnt the Muslim holy book during a raid in the eastern province of Kunar on Saturday led several hundred villagers to demonstrate the same day, blocking a main road for hours.

Locals repeated the charges at a heated meeting Sunday in the provincial capital Asadabad of representatives of the US military, Afghan officials and more than a dozen men from the area near the raid site in Narang district.

“You have desecrated our religion,” resident Azim Khan told the US delegation.

“If the perpetrators do not apologise to Afghans and to all the Muslims of the world, and if they are not brought to justice and punished for what they have done, we will stand against you, you will see an uprising,” he said.

US Captain Jason Coughenour said the allegations would be treated seriously.

“We respect your religion,” he said. “We will launch an investigation and find out who has burnt the Koran. If it has been done by an American, we will punish him.”

The US-led coalition on Saturday confirmed the raid in which four men were arrested but denied that any religious articles were desecrated.

Afghanistan is a deeply devout country and allegations of abuse of Islam have in the past touched off protests that have turned deadly.

And no one even questions why “deeply devout” people would be so prone to rage, threats, violence, and murder. Instead we bow and scrape, and accept their demands to conduct a witch hunt, among the very troops who are risking their lives trying to save Afghanistan from reverting to a hellhole.

Yes, they are, but probably not in the way Sheikh Ali Bapir thinks. The main way they’re ignorant is that here we have an Iraqi warlord explaining how he studied the Qur’an and Islam, and is ready to wage a war of ideas, while American TV talking heads (both the “liberal” and the “conservative” one) go out of their way to make sure that everyone understands that the equation of Islam and violence is offensive, and that in any case guys like this Sheikh are purveying a “twisted version of Islam.” Yet I doubt that Sheikh Ali Bapir, if he were to see this clip, would find it daunting. He knows a lot more about Islam than either Alan Colmes or Sean Hannity, and he is secure in his knowledge that he is following the correct religious path.

But not only did they NOT have the balls to show the offending part, they were sufficiently worried about being accused of, ahem, “Islamophobia” for the part that they did show that they went ahead and put up the drawing of Christ — which has nothing to do with the threat to Vilks — just to prove that they’re equal opportunity offenders. Fantastically lame.

Jihad:

JIHAD IS A CENTRAL DUTY of every Muslim. Modern Muslim theologians have spoken of many things as jihads: the struggle within the soul, defending the faith from critics, supporting its growth and defense financially, even migrating to non-Muslim lands for the purpose of spreading Islam. But in Islamic history and doctrine violent jihad is founded on numerous verses of the Qur’an — most notably, one known in Islamic theology as the “Verse of the Sword”: “Then, when the sacred months have passed, slay the idolaters wherever ye find them, and take them (captive), and besiege them, and prepare for them each ambush. But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due, then leave their way free. Lo! Allah is forgiving, merciful” (Sura 9:5). Establishing “regular worship” and paying the “poor-due” (zakat) means essentially that they will become Muslim, as these are two of the central responsibilities of every Muslim.

Sahih Bukhari, which Muslims regard as the most trustworthy of all the many collections of traditions of Muhammad, records this statement of the Prophet: “Allah assigns for a person who participates in (holy battles) in Allah’s Cause and nothing causes him to do so except belief in Allah and in His Messengers, that he will be recompensed by Allah either with a reward, or booty (if he survives) or will be admitted to Paradise (if he is killed in the battle as a martyr).”

Ibn Khaldun (1332-1406), a pioneering historian and philosopher, was also a legal theorist. In his renowned Muqaddimah, the first work of historical theory, he notes that “in the Muslim community, the holy war is a religious duty, because of the universalism of the Muslim mission and (the obligation to) convert everybody to Islam either by persuasion or by force.” In Islam, the person in charge of religious affairs is concerned with “power politics,” because Islam is “under obligation to gain power over other nations.”

Violent jihad is a constant of Islamic history. The passages quoted above and many others like them form a major element of the motivation of jihad warriors worldwide today. No major Muslim group has ever repudiated the doctrines of armed jihad. The theology of jihad, with all its assumptions about unbelievers‚ lack of human rights and dignity, is available today as a justification for anyone with the will and the means to bring it to life.

The Sunday Telegraph reports the Federal Government is looking at the idea as a way of improving airport safety.

Security officers have raised the proposal concerned about headscarves that cover up a person’s identity.

France banned the scarves in schools in 2004 angering Muslims.
Immigration Minister Kevin Andrews is now reportedly consulting with airport security staff about the matter.

Govt has no plans to ban Muslim scarfs

The federal government says it has no plans to ban the wearing of Islamic scarfs at Australian airports.

News Ltd papers reported on Sunday Immigration Minister Kevin Andrews’ office was considering prohibiting Muslim air travellers from wearing the hijab, burqa and other types of concealing scarfs, for security reasons.

The various traditional scarves are worn by Muslim women to cover their face, hair and neck.

“I can say that the minister’s office is absolutely not considering any such plan,” a spokeswoman for Mr Andrews said.

She said she did not believe the proposal was being considered by any federal government minister.

France sparked anger among its Muslim population in 2004 when it banned Islamic headscarves from schools.
