“Stop Debating Armenian Genocide or Israel/Jews Will Get Hurt” sez Turkish Envoy

Ex-Islamist? WTF? That’s like a little bit pregnant. New oxymoron. Does that make him an apostate? Ex-Islamist? Sort of like a chaste ho. Scroll down and read about Gul’s mentor, Erbakan.

Turks elect ex-Islamist president

_42850437_guls.jpg

BS from Al Bebeeceera:

Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul, a former Islamist, has been elected president in a parliamentary vote. He is the first politician with an Islamist background to become head of state since the creation of the deeply secular Turkish Republic in 1923. Mr Gul was elected in a third round of voting, after months of tension between Turkey’s ruling Islamist-rooted AK Party and the secular establishment.

* No such thing. Turkey was always deeply Islamic, it is only due to Ataturks reforms and the military that upholds secularism, otherwise Turkey would be just like Saudi Arabia. But Erdogan & Gul are working towards that…

On Monday the military warned about threats to the secular constitution.

Mr Gul, whose wife wears a Muslim headscarf, has pledged to respect Turkey’s secular institutions.

The headscarf is currently banned from public institutions in Turkey and Mr Gul has said wearing it is a matter of personal choice.

The Anti-Defamation League’s reversal last week of its position on the Armenian genocide has set off a flurry of diplomatic activity in Turkey and Israel.

Officials in Ankara and Jerusalem, in coordination with American Jewish leaders, were working this week to contain the fallout from the ADL’s statement, which recognized the World War I massacres of Armenians by Ottoman Turks as “tantamount to genocide.”

armenian_genocide.jpg

Jewish leaders warned that recognizing the genocide, as Congress is now considering, could undermine American strategic interests in the Middle East and Turkey’s robust military and economic partnership with Israel. Also deemed at risk was the security of Turkish Jewry, which sent a letter earlier this year opposing a congressional resolution on the matter.

Nabi Sensoy, Turkey’s ambassador in Washington, told JTA that his government was strongly opposed to any congressional action, but that the Turkish Jewish community had nothing to fear in any case. Sensoy was less sure that Turkey’s relations with Israel and the United States would survive a resolution unscathed.

“I cannot really dismiss that if this resolution does pass that there will be certain impacts on certain relationships,” Sensoy said. “There is no doubt about it.”

Of those raising the specter of reprisals against Turkish Jewry, Sensoy said, “I’m very disturbed to hear this kind of remark coming from anywhere. They seem to be forgetting the history of Turks and Jews, which goes back at least 500 years. We’ve always had the best of relations between Turks and Jews and the Turkish Jewish community is part and parcel, and an integral part, of the Turkish community.”

* Hmm, lets see: how many Jews are there left/alive in Turkey these days?

On Sunday, the ADL released a second statement reiterating its support for a joint Turkish-Armenian commission to investigate the matter — a move Turkey supports — and its opposition to a resolution in Congress. Foxman also wrote to Turkey’s prime minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, “to express regret for any pain we have caused to you and the Turkish people in these past few days.”

300px-armin_wegner-pile_of_bodies-dsc_0124.JPG

In Turkey, those steps were seen as backtracking. Erdogan said the ADL had rectified its “mistake,” according to the Turkish Daily News. Sensoy said he felt the ADL had reversed itself again and that its current position reflected a more “balanced situation.”

“We are expecting the American Jewish organizations to be neutral about this,” Sensoy said. “Although we’re aware of the fact that this is a very sensitive issue for the Israeli people and the Jewish community, what we have to seek is the truth.”

* Terrorism, blackmail and intimidation works. Every time.

ADL reinstates director who was first to say Turkey committed ‘genocide’

Bostom: Congress must recognize the Armenian Genocide

Endless delusions on display: “No genocide”; “Turkey is a loyal and trustworthy US Ally”; “Turkey is an Israeli Ally”; “Turkey is good to its Jews, but don’t pass the bills because of what Turkey will do to its Jews!”

All this and more from Andrew Bostom at the American Thinker.

Sample: “559 villages whose surviving inhabitants were converted to Islam with fire and sword; 568 churches thoroughly pillaged, destroyed and razed to the ground; of 282 Christian churches transformed into mosques; of 21 Protestant preachers and 170 Armenian priests who were, after enduring unspeakable tortures, murdered on their refusal to accept Islam.” Lepsius concluded with this rhetorical question: “Is this a religious persecution or is it not?”

armenian_genocide_turkey_large.JPG
And in his eloquent Wednesday 8/22/07 column “No Room to Deny Genocide” the Boston Globe’s Jeff Jacoby emphasized the nexus between the jihad genocide of the Armenians, the contemporary depredations of jihad, and the dangers of denial:
“And at a time when jihadist violence from Darfur to Ground Zero has spilled so much innocent blood, dissimulation about the jihad of 1915 [emphasis added] can only aid our enemies.”

This Turk doesn’t want to hear about it

*

A poster on Jihad Watch nails it:

The contemptible and intolerable thing is that our misguided President, and our government generally, do not attribute this genocidal behavior to its true origin–Islam. They seem to think (or wish to think) it has something to do with tribalism, legitimate political grievances, or local geographical disputes.

The minority populations in Islamic lands, aside from being humiliated economic slaves, are all convenient hostages held to influence Western behavior–especially to attract jizya.

In our own defense, and in defense of the real refugees from Islamic genocide, we must quarantine the Islamic world. As part of this quarantine, immigration into Western lands from any foreign territory should be absolutlely restricted to non-Muslims only. As part of this quarantine, we must make it clear to the Muslim world that we know what Islam is–tyranny, with genocide of the “other” as its primary goal, and that we do not approve of it anywhere or accept it as a legitimate societal order under any conditions.

The forgotten Holocaust: The Armenian massacre that inspired Hitler

When the Turkish gendarmes came for Mugrditch Nazarian, they did not give him time to dress, but took him from his home in the dead of night in his pyjamas.

The year was 1915, and his wife, Varter, knew that she was unlikely to see her husband alive again. Armenian men like him were being rounded up and taken away. In the words of their persecutors, they were being “deported” – but not to an earthly place.

2 women lose Nato jobs after marrying Muslims

From the Asian Age

“Open hearts, Open legs, Open wallets, Open borders”.

* “Racism and Islamophobia-alert: How can anyone lose a job for marrying a Muslim? Are you enraged already?

images16.jpg

The Hague, Aug. 29: Two Dutch women, have lost their jobs at a Nato base in Geilenkirchen over their marriage to Muslim men which took place during a holiday in Tunisia.

One of the women was the personal assistant of Colonel Jelle Zijlstra, deputy commandant of the base. Both women – who were identified only by their first names Patricia and Gerda – had a level of security clearance that would have allowed them to access possible Nato secrets, the NIS report said.

Following their weddings in Tunisia to local men who they met on while on holiday to the North African country in 2007, the Dutch General Intelligence and Security Service withdrew the women’s Nato security clearance.

According to a report by the Dutch daily De Telegraaf, the two Tunisian men were classified as “extremely high-risk.”

* The Asian Age did not say what kind of ‘extremely high-risk-‘ sure it has nothing to do with Islam….

* A comment from an American professor in Turkey:

Aaah, those “Tourist marriages”. I see alot here in Turkey. Usually not overly attractive or older European women and younger macho uneducated men. I’ve had students who were workers at various vacation spots and they tell me “Open hearts, Open legs, Open wallets, Open borders”.

Austria to limit building of mosques

Al Reuters reports:

viennamosque.jpg

With thanks to Morgan

It is reported that Austria’s Joerg Haider, governor of Carinthia, is planning to prevent mosques and minarets being constructed in his home province. It is his contention that planning laws should take into account ‘religious and cultural tradition’, when dealing with construction requests. He said: ‘We don’t want a clash of cultures and we don’t want institutions which are alien to our culture being erected in Western Europe.’

Now this is interesting. There is no transgression of human rights legislation because Muslims will still be free to practise Islam, and prayer rooms in buildings may be as abundant as required. What is noteworthy is the objection to the symbolism of mosques and minarets being built to ‘advertise the power of Islam’.

This has been the concern behind the colossal new London mosque planned for the site of the Olympics. In magnitude it will be bigger than St Paul’s Cathedral or Westminster Abbey, and its location will bring the eyes of the world upon it in 2012. It is considered by many to be an overtly political statement and a religious assertion of supremacy, and petitions have been signed by thousands to halt the proposal.

images-14.jpg

Jorg Haider

But neither Herr Haider’s objections nor the petition against the London mosque are likely to realise their objectives. There is no will in the West to contend either for two thousand years of culture or religion. There is simply acquiescence, accommodation, compliance, deference, and, ultimately, submission.

There is, of course, no reciprocity. While Muslims may build their mosques even in the Royal Parks of the Supreme Governor of the Church of England, Christians may not build churches in Islamic lands. And where they exist, they are firebombed, vandalised, and believers live in fear of the consequences of daring to follow their Lord. And the West utters not a word.

Even as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia bans visitors from all items and articles belonging to religions other than Islam, there is no objection from any Western government. If you are visiting Islam’s holiest land, you may no longer take your Bible, even for your own devotional purposes. There is also a ban on crosses, crucifixes, statues, carvings, and items with religious symbols such as the Star of David. They will be confiscated, permanently.

Pace Herr Haider, could one ever conceive of the West banning mosques, Qur’ans, crescent moons, and prayer mats?

Daniel Pipes has a strategy for dealing with the Saudi government. He suggests that until they change their ‘detestable policy’, its airline should be disallowed from flying into Western airports. Cranmer would go further, and demand of Western governments that they cease diplomatic relations and all trade agreements with a country which the United States has termed ‘among the most religiously repressive in the world’. But, of course, it is about oil. The land which spawned Osama bin Laden, and spreads the Wahhabi poison throughout the world and into the mosques of the United Kingdom, is ultimately untouchable.

Reciprocity may well be requested of equals, but when there is an ascendant power, with a victor and a vanquished in sight, reciprocity is simply a nice word for political consumption, and a vain dream of self delusion.

Fitzgerald: A tribute to Jorg Haider

THE Austrian right-wing firebrand Joerg Haider said yesterday he plans to change building laws to prevent mosques and minarets being erected in his home province of Carinthia. — from this article
Jorg Haider is akin to, but worse than Le Pen. He is one of those Austrians who drove the late Thomas Bernhard to maddened distraction, the kind who claim that Austrians were the “first victims” of Hitler (forgetting those cheering crowds, that delight at Anschluss). He exhibits every sign of antisemitism except, perhaps, that exhibited by the BBC World Service and The Guardian and Robert Fisk — that is, not quite so systematically vicious when it comes to the state of Israel.

Haider, by the way, owes his considerable wealth to a fluke. In 1938, someone fleeing Austria had to give up his castle in Carinthia (it’s the title of an old book: “A Castle in Carinthia”), selling it , out of desperation, for a song to Jorg Haider’s uncle, who then left that bit of booty, when he died, to his nice heel-clicking nephew. Many fortunes in Europe were made that way. Why, the book and antiques trade in Austria and Germany has been living off such goods — see the sale of Kafka’s library, which he left to his sisters who were murdered in Nazi death camps, and ask just how that library came into the possession or this or that antikvariat or auction house, and multiply that by tens of thousands of examples. Oh, there was money to be made, and there still is.

London-Based Arab Editor: I’ll Dance in Trafalgar Square When Iran Nukes Israel

A true ‘moderate Muslim’-, no doubt. Chances are that he won’t make it to Trafalgar square though.

From the ‘NOW THIS IS HATRED’ department:

Abd Al-Bari Atwan, editor-in-chief of the UK-based Arabic daily Al-Quds Al-Arabi, told a Lebanese TV interviewer he will dance in Trafalgar Square when Iran nukes Israel.

Bari Atwan is also a contributor to the BBC and Sky News, neither of whom seem to have much of a problem with this.

Bari Atwan founded the pan-Arab daily in London in 1989, and today the paper has a circulation of around 50,000. He is also a regular commentator on Sky News and BBC News 24.

Sky News refused to comment specifically on his comments.

“It is not our policy to comment on what contributors may or may not say on other channels,” said Adrian Wells, head of foreign news at Sky.

A BBC spokesman told The Jerusalem Post that editors make decisions based on the following BBC guidelines.

“We should not automatically assume that academics and journalists from other organizations are impartial and make it clear to our audience when contributors are associated with a particular viewpoint.”

Here’s the video of Bari Atwan’s fervent wish for Israel to suffer a nuclear attack, from MEMRI TV:

Sweden Defends the “Mohound Dog”

Anti dhimmitude in the land of the midnight sun:

Nerikes Allehanda defends Mohammed drawing

From correspondents in Stockholm

A SWEDISH newspaper has defended its publication of a drawing depicting the head of the Muslim Prophet Mohammed on the body of a dog, following an official protest from Iran.

20070827vilks-sm.jpg

Daily Nerikes Allehanda published the drawing last week, prompting the Iranian Government to summon Sweden’s charge d’affaires in Tehran on Monday to object to what it called a disrespectful drawing.

The drawing was by Swedish artist Lars Vilks and was part of a series which art galleries in Sweden had declined to display.

The newspaper published the image in what it called a defence of free speech.

“This is unacceptable self-censorship,” the newspaper wrote in an editorial on its website today, referring to the reluctance by galleries to exhibit Vilks’s drawings.

“The right to freedom of religion and the right to blaspheme religions go together,” it wrote.

Last year, Muslims around the world launched a firestorm of protest after a Danish newspaper published cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed that were reprinted by other European newspapers.

Sweden’s Muslim Council, an umbrella organisation for Islamic groups in the country, took issue with Nerikes Allehanda’s arguments.

Helena Benauda, chair of the council, said she was surprised because the newspaper had been involved in a dialogue with Muslims following the Danish controversy.

“I think they did understand our point of view – that you should not publish pictures that could be seen as racist, xenophobic or anti-Semitic,” Ms Benauda said.

Ulf Johansson, editor-in-chief of Nerikes Allehanda, said there was a difference between how his newspaper was approaching the issue and the Danish case.

“This newspaper has always been very eager to defend Muslim rights in Sweden and freedom of religion overall.

“But we are also very clear that the freedom of speech goes hand-in-hand with that.”

Muslims in Australia plan to defame anti-jihadists

With thanks to DW:

“Islamophobia” is a trumped-up term. “Islamophobia” would not exist at all were there not Muslims all over the world committing acts of violence and justifying them by reference to Islamic teaching. That is the cause of “Islamophobia,” 100%. If Muslims want to cure “Islamophobia,” they should work to end that violence and reform the elements of Islamic teaching that incite it. Instead, as we see here, they prefer to indulge in finger-pointing.

“Muslim awards coming,” by Mark Dunn in the Herald Sun A VICTORIAN mosque plans to bestow awards on Australians they believe are Islamophobes — politicians, community leaders or media identities they categorise as hostile to Muslims.
The Brunswick-based Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaah Association has unveiled what it calls its annual “Islamophobia Award for the worst Islamophobes in Australia”.

images12.jpg

Pauline Hanson

Likely to be near the top on the group’s list of nominees is Pauline Hanson, who has come under fire from the mosque and other Muslims for her recent call for a “moratorium on any more Muslims coming into Australia”.

images13.jpg
Mosque leader Sheik Mohammed Omran, who teaches a fundamentalist minority form of Islam, has previously been questioned about his views on international jihad but he has condemned terrorism in Australia.

* Strange. Once again we see a clueless reporter parroting apologies on behalf of the ummah before he even touches the substance: That sheik Omran somehow preaches “a fundamentalist minority form of Islam”- How do we know that it is a “minority form of Islam?”- and why would anyone take sheik Omran’s views on terrorism and the global jihad at face value? Don’t you know that ‘war is deception’ according to the teachings of the prophet?

* You might need to to spend a few hours reading Koran and sunnah, Mark Dunn!

The Australian award follows a similar initiative in Britain where the Islamic Human Rights Commission (a suspected Al Qaeda organization) imposed its Annual Islamophobia Awards on politicians including Australian Prime Minister John Howard, then British PM Tony Blair and US President George W. Bush.

* “Islamic human rights”- according to the sharia means you are allowed to live as a slave of Allah or as a dhimmi, an infidel slave under Islamic rule.

* Australia has become a country where professor Israeli’s speeches are cancelled, Bigitte Gabriel and Wafa Sultan have to be whisked secretely in and out of the country and Ayaan Hirsi Ali protected 24/7 by 4 instead of 2 bodyguards.

* There is phobia, yes, but not Islamophobia. There is the irrational fear not to offend, the irrational fear of being called ‘racist’ when you object to a misogynistic 7th century cult, a perverted ideology concocted by a mass murdering serial rapist, slave trader and pedophile who believed himself to be a ‘prophet’- and the adherents of that ideology in the guise of religion want us dead or forcibly converted and are quite willing to do whatever it takes to whack us into submission.

* The Quran teaches that only Islam is the true religion, and unbelievers have three options: 1) convert to Islam; 2) remain an infidel, and submit to humiliating subordinate status under Islamic law, including paying a hefty poll tax; or 3) wage war with, or be killed by, Muslims.

The work’s have been entered into Australia’s top religious art competition, the Blake Prize. Prime Minister John Howard has been critical of the inclusion of the works, which he said were insulting and lacked any artistic merit, News Ltd reports. “The choice of such artwork is gratuitously offensive to the religious beliefs of many Australians,” he said.

Curing Islamophobia in an Instant

mam399img3.jpg

Robert Spencer has the cure right here:

The coinage of the term “Islamophobia” is an exercise in blaming the victim. If Muslims want to end “Islamophobia” instantaneously, here’s how:

1. Focus your indignation on Muslims committing violent acts in the name of Islam, not on non-Muslims reporting on those acts.

2. Renounce definitively not just “terrorism,” but any intention to replace the U.S. Constitution (or the constitutions of any non-Muslim state) with Sharia even by peaceful means.

3. Teach Muslims the imperative of coexisting peacefully as equals with non-Muslims on an indefinite basis.

4. Begin comprehensive international programs in mosques all over the world to teach against the ideas of violent jihad and Islamic supremacism.

5. Actively work with Western law enforcement officials to identify and apprehend jihadists within Western Muslim communities.

Do those five things, and voila! “Islamophobia” will vanish. No UN program needed.

The Caliphate News Network & Islamiane Amanpour’s ‘God’s Warriors’ Garbage

Biased CNN ‘Warriors’ crosses the line

By Jonathan Tobin/JWR

amnapour.jpg

“Objective” journalist Amanpour donning Muslim head covering

Critics of religion like to claim that the source of most of the world’s ills can be traced to believers who wage wars in the name of their distorted fanatic faiths. Indeed, this thesis has led to a spate of new books advocating atheism and deriding religion in the past year.

Needless to say, critics of this trend have pointed out that the vast majority of the deaths incurred by conflicts in history’s bloodiest century — the twentieth — were caused by fanatical non-believers in traditional faiths in the name of their Communist, Maoist and Nazi faiths.

But it must be admitted that violent religious extremists are, at this moment in time, the primary threat to the peace of the world. The only problem with this unpleasant fact is that the opprobrium rightly aimed at the perpetrators of this faith-based violence cannot be neatly distributed across the board to practitioners of the three major monotheistic religions.

Though present-day Jews and Christians are not all saints, there is no getting around the fact that neither of those religions has sprouted a contemporary movement aimed at world domination to be achieved by terror and war. That honor is reserved for the Muslim faith, among whose adherents Islamist terror movements have found a home in the mainstream of its culture.

Not all Muslims are Islamists. Most American Muslims are nothing of the kind. But the notion that supporters of Al Qaeda, Hezbollah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad and other assorted anti-Western and anti-Jewish terror movements are a tiny minority in the Arab and Muslim world is a delusion.

But in this age of political correctness, to single out one group for the sins of a large number of its members is considered unfair and perhaps even racist. So, instead, we are asked to pretend that there is an intrinsic connection or even symmetry between Christian, Jewish and Muslim extremists.

That was exactly the premise of a widely heralded three-part series on CNN last week. Titled “G-d’s Holy Warriors,” and fronted by famed international correspondent Christiane Amanpour, it was a tryptich across the globe to highlight the danger from Jewish, Muslim and Christian extremists who are all given the same treatment and air-time in the guise of even-handedness.

Thus, by its very structure of equating the three different situations, the series was nothing short of a brazen lie.

Why is CNN so perverted?

Christiane vs. Christians and Jews
By Phyllis Chesler
FrontPageMagazine.com

Not ONLY CNN, Fox also:

In November of 2005, Fox’s O’Reilly showed live footage of the French Intifada as it raged in Paris. According to WorldNetDaily, Saudi billionaire Prince al-Waleed bin Talal, (aka Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin AbdulAziz AlSaud), who owns 5-6% of the Fox News Channel, personally called Rupert Murdoch and asked him to change the offensive (but accurate) caption: “Muslim Riots” to the less offensive (and less accurate) “Civil Riots.” Within thirty minutes, the Prince had his way.

Our fine Saudi prince also owns shares in Times-Warner/AOL/CNN, which he first acquired in 2002. According to Forbes, the London Guardian, and other media outlets, in 2002 the Prince “claimed to own 1.4 billion in AOL stock…in 2003 he bought another 450 million of AOL stock.” God knows what he owns now. (Yes, he’s the very Prince whom Presidential hopeful Rudy Guiliani humiliated when he refused to accept his ten million dollar donation for humanitarian aid immediately following 9/11).

To paraphrase New York Post columnist Cindy Adams: Only in America kids, only in America.

DAMASCUS, Syria (CNN) –– Sitting in a room with the top Hamas leader — a man Israel would prefer dead — is not an easy feeling, knowing that at any second a missile could shatter the building, killing everyone inside, myself included.

And, of course, it is no surprise why Israel has Khaled Meshaal at the top of its hit list. He is known to have ordered bombings that have targeted Israeli civilians, blowing up cafés, markets and malls across Israel.

CNN senior correspondent Nic Robertson and I recently sat down with Meshaal in a secret Hamas “safe house” in the middle of Damascus. The walls were adorned with the pictures of Hamas members who have carried out suicide bombings that have killed hundreds of Israelis.

A popular comic strip that poked fun at the Rev. Jerry Falwell without incident one week ago was deemed too controversial to run over the weekend because this time it took a humorous swipe at Muslim fundamentalists.

The Washington Post and several other newspapers around the country did not run Sunday’s installment of Berkeley Breathed’s “Opus,” in which the spiritual fad-seeking character Lola Granola appears in a headscarf and explains to her boyfriend, Steve, why she wants to become a radical Islamist.

Sources told FOXNews.com that the strips were shown to Muslim staffers at The Washington Post to gauge their reaction, and they responded “emotionally” to the depiction of a woman dressed in traditional Muslim garb and espousing conservative Islamic views.

Pakistan’s Islamist press calls for jihad

Praveen Swami / The Hindu

Fresh demands for violence against India escalated weeks before Hyderabad bombings

“Musharraf’s regime should discard the pro-U.S. policy”

“Make jihad, martyrdom part of the curriculum”

NEW DELHI: Pakistan’s Islamist media published a series of explicit calls for violence against India in the six weeks before the Hyderabad bombings — a development that analysts believe reflects the weakening of General Pervez Musharraf’s regime, and raises fears of a renewed wave of terror strikes.

In an editorial published in the Jamaat-e-Islami-affiliated Daily Jasarat’s August 19 Friday supplement, the newspaper demanded that the “slogan of jihad should reverberate in every nook and corner of Pakistan. If Pakistan allows jihadis to infiltrate into India then Kashmir could be liberated in six months.”

“Within a couple of years,” the newspaper asserted, “the rest of the territories of India could be conquered as well, and we can regain our lost glory. We can bring back the era of Mughal rule. We can once again subjugate the Hindus like our forefathers.”

Lashkar-e-Taiba chief Hafiz Mohammad Saeed, in turn, used the July 20 rape and murder of north Kashmir teenager to call for escalated violence. “The Indian Army,” he wrote in July 22 article published on the terror group’s website,is raping the daughters of Islam. How can we tolerate this? We will kill every single soldier of the Indian Army and take revenge for the honour of our sisters. Let India deploy more soldiers in Kashmir so that our mujahideen have more pigs to hunt.”

According to Islamist publications, these calls for violence are legitimised by what they characterise as a global war against Islam and Pakistan. “India and other foreign powers,” Saeed told a congregation at Lahore’s al-Qadsia mosque on July 20, “are involved in the recent spate of bomb blasts in Pakistan. Only India could be behind the recent attacks because only a Hindu could do it. No Muslim can think of shedding the blood of another Muslim.”

The War Within

Much of the Islamist press’ ire is focussed on Pakistan’s own establishment — and the figure of President Pervez Musharraf.

Writing in the July 30 edition of the Daily Jasarat, which has an estimated circulation of 50,000, Lashkar deputy chief Abdul Rahman Makki demanded that General Musharraf’s regime “discard the pro-United States policy th at has weakened the Kashmir cause. It is time to adopt a pro-jihad and pro-jihadi policy. You give us the country for six months and we will conquer Kashmir. We will also force the Americans out from Afghanistan.”

In another attack on General Musharraf, published on the Lashkar website on August 8, Saeed asserted that “Muslim rulers have disappointed the Ummah [worldwide Muslim community]. It is time to wage jihad against them. They are not Muslims. They are the agents of Jews.”

However, Saeed was careful not to endorse pro-democracy protests. “The answer is not democracy,” he wrote. “The answer is the caliphate.” He followed this up with an appeal to Pakistan’s military establishment: “Remember, O foolish rulers, the United States is not going to help you. Jihadis are your true friends.”

images11.jpg

Mushi: Not quite ready for all out jihad yet…

*
Soon after, Makki launched an even more acidic attack on General Musharraf at the Madrassa Ayesha, near Rawalpindi. Pakistan, he asserted, “is ruled by Ahmadis at present” — a reference to a heterodox Muslim sect officially proscribed in Pakistan, and long subject to persecution by Islamists. “Most of the top Generals and bureaucrats,” he continued, “are Ahmadi.”

In order to counter this pernicious influence, Makki called for “jihad and martyrdom to be made part of the curriculum. They should be taught in textbooks at school, college and university levels.”

Several key members of the Musharraf regime have also been singled out for attack in the Islamist press. In an August 12 editorial, the Nawa-i-Waqt, which is estimated to sell some 2,00,000 copies daily, railed against Education Min ister General Javed Ashraf Qazi for the publication of a Grade II school textbook which omitted Jammu and Kashmir from a map of Pakistan. “The Education Minister,” it stated, “is a Jewish agent.”

REPLACING RADICAL HILALY WITH ‘MODERATE’ SHEIKH NAJI AS MUFTI A FARCE

“In a battle between flaming fundamentalists and mute moderates, who do you think is going to win”? Irshad Manji Muslim writer

As we have predicted in the past, the stepping down of radical Hilaly as Mufti of Australia and his replacement by another imam who would be just as radical but who would attempt to cover the sinews of his spiritual radicalism under the garments of moderation, has just happened. The selection by the Australian Council of Imams of the elderly and scholarly Sheikh Fehmi Naji el-Imam of the Preston Mosque to replace Hilaly as Mufti of Australasia, is no less than an attempt by the politically minded advisers of the Australian Council of Imams to cozen and dupe the Australian public that they were substituting a moderate cleric in the person of Sheikh Naji for the radical Hilaly.

A not so moderate sheik Fehmi Naji

But let us see whether our prejudgment of the new Mufti is too hasty and facile by looking at the past conduct and statements of Sheikh Naji. Six years now since the twin towers bombing and all the objective evidence who was behind the attack, the Sheikh still refuses to acknowledge that Osama bin Laden was behind it. His reply is that he has heard people saying that al Qaeda were the perpetrator but he himself has not seeing the evidence. Now the Sheikh is reputed to be a scholarly and intelligent man and one would expect of him to use the latter two qualities in search of the truth. If six years after the event, he still cannot make up his intelligent mind, despite the resounding evidence that is also verified by the statements of bin Laden himself that al Qaeda was the deadly agent, as to the real perpetrator of that dastardly action, then people must come to the conclusion not that the Sheikh does not have the truth in his hands but that he hides it. And the reason why he hides it is that he does not want to alienate himself both from other imams, who also believe that bin Laden was not behind the attack, and of the wider Muslim community which also believes likewise, after hearing their clerics for so long repudiating that the attack was engendered by al Qaeda.

Hence the important question is not what Sheikh Naji truly believes about 9/11 but what he truly represents. That a great number of Muslims, after being indoctrinated for so many years by their radical imams about the evils of the West and the Great Satan America have been also radicalized, and it’s exactly this fundamentalist stratum that the Sheikh represents. That there is a majority of fledgling radical Muslims in our midst has been lucidly illustrated by the recently religiously arrogant statements of the head of the Supreme Islamic Shia Council of Australia, Kamal Mousselmani, as reported in the Australian, on June 23-24, 2007. He said, his entire of 30,000 Shi’ites in Australia were avid [my emphasis] supporters of Hezbollah (Party of God) and haters of Israel, considered Hezbollah to be a “resistance group” not a terrorist organization. He continued, “Shia in Australia considers Israel a terrorist organization and also view those who support Israel in the same light”. And with the superciliousness of a fanatic who speaks in the name of God, he said to the reporters attending his press conference, “put those words down, we are not afraid to say that”.

Certainly there is a minority of moderate Muslims within their community but who would dare to swim against the stream of such torrential river of radicalism? This is why the expectation by some civil libertarians and politicians that moderate Muslims can oust the radicals from their position of power and influence, is completely unrealistic at least in the short term. And in “the long term we will all be dead”, to quote John Maynard Keynes.

Furthermore, Sheikh Naji’s record speaks for itself. He officially supported the application for residency of Abdul Nacer Benbrica, who presently awaits trial for alleged terrorist actions in Australia. Asked by a reporter if moderate Muslims should take a stronger stand against extremists, he ducked the question and answered that the media misrepresented the facts about Muslims. What he would say to those Muslims who wanted to go overseas and participate in jihad, he replied, “I don’t know what (the) circumstances outside (Australia) would be”. He also called for the removal of Hezbollah’s military arm from Australia’s proscribed list of terrorist organizations. And in a lame attempt to shift jihad in favor of Australia, not realizing that he was throwing a boomerang in the air, he said that Australian Muslims would participate in a jihad to “protect Australia from its enemies”. (m.e.) Presently Australia is fighting its enemies, extremist Muslims, in Iraq and Afghanistan; is the Sheikh going to send his holy warriors to these theatres of war as an outcome of his pledge to protect Australia? Lastly, asked in his press conference after his election as Mufti about the war in Iraq, he was promptly muzzled by his minders to articulate his views on the issue, pleading his ill-health (he had suffered a stroke), and was quickly whisked away from the tough-fisted questions of some reporters, his advisors replying that he will answer these questions another time.

Australia needs more ‘Rage Boyz…’

Hence, the Australian Council of Imams being too clever by half, not only have they picked a seemingly moderate imam to replace Hilaly, so he can pass muster in the eyes of the general community, but a frail one to boot. So whenever Sheikh Naji faced difficult questions of the media his minders would plead his ill-health, thus shielding him from giving an impromptu answer that could compromise his position as a moderate imam, and, also, exposing all those who elected him Mufti as being also avid representatives of the radicalism of their flock since they happen to be its sires.

The general public must not allow itself to be duped by this latest farce of the Muslim clerisy that they are willing and preparing to walk hand-in-hand with the Australian maiden, on the path of moderation, mutual respect, and peace, when their sermons are replete to the brim with the seeds of war against the infidels, the Jews, and the Great Satan, America.

Islam in the media – Sheik Fehmi

Sheik Fehmi Naji El-Imam is the mufti of Australia – the spiritual leader of Australias Muslims. He replaced Sheik Taj el-Din el-Hilaly as the mufti in June 2007.

When he was first appointed as mufti, some journalists asked some tough questions, questioning whether he was truly a moderate because of statements he had previously made: he didnt think Osama bin Laden was responsible for 9/11, he had praised Hezbollah, questioned the Iraq war, talked of Islam not allowing the killing of innocent people and had not distanced himself from the Melbourne imam Sheik Mohammed Omran. [sources below]

Last week Sheik Fehmi was featured in a Focus article/interview in the Sunday Herald Sun.

He encouraged Muslims to embrace Australian culture such as football, the beach and BBQs.

In the long article, Sheik Fehmi also talked of:

participation of Muslims in charity/voluntary work.

his arrival in Melbourne in 1951

his work in promoting a multi-faith and multicultural society

forming the first Islamic Society and building Victorias first mosque in Carlton North in 1957

becoming a full time imam in 1976

raising $1 million and building the large Preston Mosque. The mosque was completed with funds given by the Saudi Arabian government.*

In the interview, Sheik Fehmi speaks about the current terrorism trials and the nature of Islam:

While refusing to comment on the trial, he says terrorists should be dealt with under the law. Extremism has no place in Islam and people who take innocent lives in name of God are outside the fold of Islam, he says.

The extremists are not applying Islam. They call themselves Muslim, but they are not. Unfortunately, Islam is the most misunderstood religion at the moment amongst the people who live in Australia, maybe in the world.

But in Australia we are concerned that we live here to show Islam. Islam is tolerant. Islam is friendly. Islam is amicable. [emphasis added]

In this extract he again uses the word innocent – but in Islam an innocent person is one who is a Muslim. He also refers to in Australia which leads one to ask what about elsewhere?

The two articles from the Sunday Herald Sun follow along with articles documenting his previous statements and an interview with him that appeared on Compass.

Articles:

A thoroughly modern muslim

Focus article, Sunday Herald Sun, Laurie Nowell, September 21, 2008.

AUSTRALIA’s top Muslim cleric is working to make sure the Islamic community embraces Australian culture. He tells Laurie Nowell how footy, barbecues and the beach have become multicultural glue.

SHEIK Fehmi Naji el-Imam, the spiritual leader of Australias 300,000 Muslims, has some surprising connections with footy. First, Sheik Fehmi thinks Muslims should embrace the game. He says so as an illustration of his belief that Muslims should be, and are, playing important roles in the wider community.

Second, he holds up Essendons recruit Bachar Houli, a Muslim, as a role model and pin-up boy of his multicultural philosophy. . . .

Sheik to Muslims: Play the game

Herald Sun, Australia – 20 Sept 2008

MUSLIMS should embrace Australian culture by playing footy, going to the beach and having barbecues, the nation’s most senior Islamic cleric says. …

ElBaradei’s nuclear policy

90_carolineglick_th.jpg

Caroline Glick ruffles the feathers of Muhammad El Baradei, a man with serious mental baggage and a dubious agenda:

The UN’s International Atomic Energy Agency Director Muhammad ElBaradei is a man of dubious integrity. In 2005 he was vaunted to the heights of the international stratosphere when he received the Nobel Peace Prize. The Nobel committee extolled him for his “efforts to prevent nuclear energy from being used for military purposes.” Yet the facts indicate that the opposite is true. In his five-term tenure at the IAEA, ElBaradei has used his power to facilitate the proliferation of nuclear energy for military purposes. This he has done by working to prevent responsible states, like the United States, from taking action to prevent rogue states from pursuing nuclear weapons.

Take Iraq for example. Right up to the US-British invasion of Iraq in March 2003, ElBaradei consistently maintained that he either couldn’t tell if Iraq was or was not pursuing nuclear weapons, or that he could see no evidence that Saddam Hussein was pursuing nuclear weapons. Indeed, just before the war, in an effort to scuttle US-British efforts to convince the UN Security Council to pass a new resolution approving the use of force against Saddam Hussein’s regime, ElBaradei reported to the Security Council that Iraq had abandoned its nuclear weapons program.

Then, in October 2004, with the still-same object of denying international legitimacy to US operations in Iraq, ElBaradei indirectly acknowledged his previous mendacity. He announced that since the invasion, equipment and materials that could be used to make nuclear bombs had disappeared from Iraq.

As he told it, in the aftermath of the US-led invasion, entire buildings related to Saddam’s nuclear weapons programs had been dismantled without any record being made of their contents. High precision “dual use” items such as milling machines, electron beam welders, and high strength aluminum all turned up missing.

Suddenly, the same ElBaradei who had insisted that Iraq had no nuclear program warned, “The disappearance of such equipment and materials may be of proliferation significance.” In the months ahead of the US-led invasion – months which ElBaradei spent buying time for Saddam by prolonging inspections that could be relied on to never end conclusively – then prime minister Ariel Sharon warned that satellite imagery had shown large truck convoys of suspicious materials moving from Iraq to Syria. Former IDF chief of General Staff Maj.-Gen. (res.) Moshe Ya’alon later reiterated Sharon’s claims.

US AIR FORCE intelligence operative David Gaubatz, who was sent to Iraq between March and July 2003 to search for nuclear, chemical and biological installations found four suspicious, reinforced, underground sites in southern Iraq around Nasiriyah and Basra. For reasons that remain to be examined, the US failed to inspect the sites. Medical examinations of Gaubatz and his team taken after their site visits showed that they had been exposed to high levels of radiation.

As Melanie Phillips reported in the British Spectator in April, Gaubatz stated that he subsequently learned from CIA, British and Iraqi intelligence agents that the sites were stripped by Iraqi, Syrian, and Russian operatives who moved their contents to Syria.

In a move exposing his own cynical refusal to take seriously the threat posed by nuclear proliferation, ElBaradei ended his October 2004 warning regarding the disappearance of the Iraqi nuclear equipment by asking anyone with information about the whereabouts of Iraq’s nuclear program to give his office a telephone call.

* The case of ElBaradei is not simply a case of incompetence and stupidity, but obviously one of putting the Fox in charge of guarding the chicken coop.

The Mothers of Dhimmitude: German “Nappy Headed Hoe’s” Perform in Teheran

* Music is ‘haram’ in Islam. All the more surprising that Iran would have a German orchestra perform in the Islamic republic, but not without insisting that the female musicians are properly hijabbed:

“The women are not used to playing in hijab. I am very glad that the women tried it and it was fine. What is most important is the music.”

* Selling everything for a song, eh?

The German orchestra brushed off the constraint of giving the concerts with their female players wearing Islamic headscarves, saying they had worn the garments during rehearsals in Germany in preparation.

German orchestra in Iran on landmark visit

From AFP via DW: A German orchestra arrived in Tehran on Monday, defying increasing political tensions to give the first performances in Iran by a full Western classical ensemble since the Islamic revolution in 1979.

The Osnabrueck Symphony Orchestra from northwestern Germany will play works by Beethoven, Brahms and Elgar in Tehran this week following a successful visit by the Tehran Symphony Orchestra to their town last year.

The German orchestra, whose female players will have to wear Islamic headscarves to obey Iran’s dress code, will be boosted by six Iranian musicians for the concerts.

The orchestra’s directors were at pains to emphasise their visit would not stray into politics and was purely aimed at increasing cultural understanding between Iran and the West.

“My wish is to show the peoples of both our countries that there is no need to fear one another and it is a great pleasure to get to know one another,” said the director of Osnabrueck’s summer festival, Michael Dreyer.

“I hope that it will be increasingly normal to have cultural exchanges between Iran and Germany and the Western world,” he told reporters after arriving in Tehran.

* “Normal” to have cultural exchanges with a cult(-ure) that wants to bring about the end of culture and civilization?

Dreyer said he had rejected a request by three German MPs to join the tour in order to keep the trip focused on music and not politics. The trip has been fully coordinated with Iran’s ministry of culture and Islamic guidance.

Western classical music was frowned upon in the immediate aftermath of the Islamic revolution but has seen a cautious resurgence in recent years, with pieces by classical greats programmed on state radio and in concerts.

However no Western orchestra has ever played in the Islamic republic, although the US-backed shah played host in the 1970s to the Berlin Philharmonic and their legendary conductor Herbert von Karajan.

Tehran’s symphony orchestra gives regular concerts, mixing Western classics with compositions by Iranian composers. Western chamber ensembles have visited occasionally, especially during the reformist presidency of Mohammad Khatami.

Judging by the questions posed by Iranian journalists at the press conference, there is set to be some debate over the exclusively Western choice of the repertoire and soloists in the Osnabrueck orchestra’s concerts.

Just hours after arriving, the orchestra’s leadership found themselves quizzed why an Iranian symphony had not been included in the programme and why plans to include famed Iranian singer Sharham Nazeri had fallen flat.

Dreyer defended the choice, saying there was not enough time to rehearse an Iranian symphony and logistics made inviting the US-based Nazeri impossible.

“The women are not used to playing in hijab. I am very glad that the women tried it and it was fine. What is most important is the music,” said conductor Hermann Baeumer.
