*Robert Spencer on Jihad Watch takes on the latest attempt by the soldiers of Allah to pull the wool over the ears and eyes of unsuspecting, naive Westerners:

We have seen this before. The Fiqh Council of North America condemned attacks on innocent civilians, without specifying what constitutes an innocent civilian — a key issue when Islamic authorities including the “moderate” Sheikh Qaradawi are saying that there are no civilians in Israel, and thus all Israelis can be killed lawfully according to Islamic law.

That is the same justification other jihadists have used for 9/11. That means that for any Muslim condemnation of terrorism to have real teeth, it has to be very specific: saying that American and Israeli civilians are innocent, and thus entitled to respect for their lives and property according to the traditional canons of Islamic law. Short of that, the condemnation is hollow.

United They Are; against US

Now a slew of British Muslim organizations have issued a similar document (thanks to Leon), and I’m sure it will raise the same excitement and high hopes among non-Muslims that the Fiqh Council’s did — and will serve ever after as a useful tool for deceivers and self-deceived alike. The BBC (thanks again, Leon) is already breathlessly reporting that “British Muslims are leading a new campaign condemning the recent attempted car bomb attacks in London and Glasgow.” But in reality, this one is not as clever as the Fiqh Council’s document: its weasel wording is relatively obvious.

MUSLIMS UNITED !

..Whoever kills an innocent soul.. it is as if he killed the whole of mankind, And whoever saves one, it is as if he saved the whole of mankind” [The Quran, 5:32]

“An innocent soul.” But reading beyond the quoted passage (you know how important context is, after all), we learn what awaits those who not deemed innocent: “The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter” (Qur’an 5:33).

The Muslim communities across Britain are united in condemning the attempted bombings in London and Glasgow.
We are united with the rest of the country at this critical time and are determined to work together to avert any such attacks targeting our fellow citizens, property and country.

Islam forbids the killing of innocent people. We reject any heinous attempts to link such abhorrent acts to the teachings of Islam.

* Here we go again: Doublespeak and deception

But Anjem Chaudry tells the truth
“Innocent people.” How, then, does this declaration do anything to refute the views of the British jihadist Anjem Choudary, who has said forthrightly on British TV that no non-Muslims are innocent? Anjem Choudary would have no trouble agreeing to this statement. And there’s your problem.

Then it gets even worse: “We reject any heinous attempts to link such abhorrent acts to the teachings of Islam.” That sounds as if they’re declaring that the jihadists are not acting according to the teachings of Islam, and that’s all to the good, if they can actually fight the jihadist interpretation of Islam and present an alternative that is viable in terms of the Qur’an and Islamic law. But this statement can also be taken to mean that any attempt to explore the elements of Islam that give rise to violence and terror, and to formulate effective reforms, is also “heinous” and must be opposed. After all, British Muslim groups have been vocal in demanding that the media not refer to jihad terrorists as Islamic at all — and Gordon Brown is happy to oblige. But this cuts off the legs of sincere Islamic reformers: you can’t reform what you won’t admit needs reforming. And when you label any exploration of the topic itself as “heinous,” you’re miles away from any real confrontation or refutation of the use jihadists make of Islamic theology.

• British Muslims should not be held responsible for the acts of criminals.

* But isn’t Islam itself a criminal organization? A cult based on conquest, assault, booty, intimidation, extortion, blackmail, slavery and the subjugation of conquered peoples? And then there is the behavior of Muhammad, Islam’s ‘prophet’ who raped captured women the same day he killed their whole tribe, and who married at the age of 54 a child of 6, Aisha.

Here again, where is a statement that “British Muslims must redouble their efforts to fight the spread of the jihad ideology in their communities.” Instead, the focus is on what non-Muslims must do — so as to head off that ever-present but evanescent “backlash.”

• We commend the government for its efforts to respond to this crisis calmly and proportionately, and welcome both the Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s and the Home Secretary’s emphasis on the need to distinguish between the overwhelming majority of British Muslims who are law-abiding (? Obviously to mean obeying sharia) citizens and a few criminals who seek to inflict harm and terror on our country.

‘Our country?’

Lovely. But why not say that you’re going to do everything you can to make it easier for the British government to distinguish between peaceful Muslims and jihadists, by instituting mandatory nationwide anti-jihadism programs in mosques and acting energetically against Islamic supremacism in other ways?

• We express support for the emergency services who are working tirelessly and courageously to avert these attacks and ensure the safety of our country. • We urge the media and all politicians to continue to maintain the values of our open society, free from prejudice and discrimination, sustained by tolerance and mutual respect for all.
Here again, calls on non-Muslims to act. Nothing about what Muslims can and should do.

• We call on our government to work towards a just and lasting peace in areas of conflict around the world and to take the lead in helping eliminate the injustices and grievances that foment division and nurture violence.

In other words, “This is your fault. You non-Muslim British brought this on yourselves, by your policies. Change them now…or else.”

The unity of our society must be maintained and we must not allow divisions to emerge between us. We must remain friends, neighbours and colleagues, and take Britain forward as one nation – towards a Greater Britain.

A Greater Britain, eh? A clear renunciation of any intention to impose Sharia in Britain in the future might have been nice here, instead of vaguely ominous platitudes.

It’s the doctors, stupid!

I’m not sure why everyone is so shocked that all eight suspects in the attempted British terrorist attacks of last week are Medical Doctors (and that ALL eight suspects are tied to the British national healthcare system, the NHS). Readers of this site aren’t surprised by the doctor terrorists.

As you’ll recall, in my mid-May column, “When Your Doctor is a Muslim: Medical Terrorism Comes to America,” I wrote about many of the doctors who’ve been top-ranking terrorists and involved in terrorist plots. Also, of note, I’ve complained about the special visas available for foreign alien MDs and other medical personnel to practice in America in small towns and at universities. I’ve written about how this makes it easy for Islamic doctor terrorists to get in and stay in, without much of a background check. (Like America doesn’t already have enough medical doctors.)

I did not mention something else I know about, which is a past FBI investigation into Syrian and other Arab Muslim Medical Doctors in the Detroit area who were holding fundraisers for HAMAS. The investigation was mostly conducted by counterterrorism agents in Chicago, as it was tied to a bigger scheme. But nothing ever happened to the doctors because, hey, post-9/11, we must be nice to the Muslims, no matter how extremist they are or how nefarious their activities are.

45 Muslim doctors planned US terror attacks

Cyber-terrorists: Tariq Daour, Younis Tsouli and Waseem Mughal

Not your average Jihad Apes

A group of 45 Muslim doctors threatened to use car bombs and rocket grenades in terrorist attacks in the United States during discussions on an extremist internet chat site.

Police found details of the discussions on a site run by one of a three-strong “cyber-terrorist” gang.

They were discovered at the home of Younis Tsouli, 23, Woolwich Crown Court in south-east London heard.

One message read: “We are 45 doctors and we are determined to undertake jihad and take the battle inside America.

“The first target which will be penetrated by nine brothers is the naval base which gives shelter to the ship Kennedy.” This is thought to have been a reference to the USS John F Kennedy, which is often at Mayport Naval Base in Jacksonville, Florida.

The message discussed targets at the base, adding: “These are clubs for naked women which are opposite the First and Third units.”

It also referred to using six Chevrolet GT vehicles and three fishing boats and blowing up petrol tanks with rocket propelled grenades.

Investigators have found no link between the Tsouli chat room and the group of doctors and medics currently in custody over attempted car bomb attacks in London and Glasgow.

However, sources said it was “definitely spooky” that the use of doctors for terrorist purposes was being discussed in jihadi terrorist circles up to three years ago.

Part of the inquiry into the London and Glasgow incidents will focus on whether al-Qa’eda has recruited doctors or other medical professionals because they are less likely to attract suspicion and can move easily around the western world.

The three “cyber terrorists” – a British national and two who had been given the right to live in Britain – are facing lengthy jail sentences after admitting using the internet to spread al-Qa’eda propaganda inciting Muslims to a violent holy war and to murder non-believers.

They had close links with al-Qa’eda in Iraq and believed they had to fight jihad against a global conspiracy by kuffars, or non-believers, to wipe out Islam.

The three are the first defendants in Britain to be convicted of inciting terrorist murder on the internet. They waged cyber-jihad on websites run from their bedrooms.

Tsouli promoted the ideology of Osama bin Laden via email and radical websites. He said in one message he was “very happy” about the July 7 bombings in London in 2005.

Tsouli, along with Tariq Daour, a biochemistry student, and Waseem Mughal, a law student, were intelligent, computer-literate men who promoted violent propaganda.

They created chat forums to direct willing fighters to Iraq and discuss murderous bomb attacks around the world. Films of hostages and beheadings were found by police.

Daour, 21, of Bayswater, west London, who was born in the United Arab Emirates, yesterday admitted inciting another person to commit an act of terrorism wholly or partly outside Britain. Moroccan-born Tsouli, 23, of Shepherd’s Bush, west London, and British-born Mughal, 24, of Chatham, Kent, admitted the same charge on Monday.

They are due to be sentenced today. They also admitted conspiring together and with others to defraud banks, credit card companies and charge card companies. Daour had instructions for making explosives and poisons, the court was told. Police found instructions on causing an explosion with “rocket propellant” and constructing a car bomb.

In one on-line conversation, Daour, asked what he would do with £1 million, replied: “Sponsor terrorist attacks, become the new Osama.”

The three men outwardly appeared to be leading normal lives, studying and living with their parents. Tsouli had come to the UK with his family from Morocco in 2001.

Mughal had a degree in biochemistry from Leicester University and was studying for his masters.

Daour, who was granted British citizenship in May 2005, had applied to start a law degree.

July 4, 2007 — AMNESTY is dead. Now, let’s talk about the other “A” word. It’s the word and the concept completely abandoned during the immigration debate: assimilation.
Over the last year, hundreds of thousands of illegal-alien demonstrators took to the streets lobbying for amnesty. Marchers waved “Amnestia Ahora!” placards in one hand, the flags of their native countries in the other. Open-borders strategists quickly replaced the foreign flags with Old Glory after militant activists caused a public backlash last year. National newspapers played dutiful propagandists and splashed patriotic photo-ops of the “undocumented” masses wrapped in red, white and blue to drum up sympathy.

But now that they’ve lost their amnesty fight, will they still embrace American symbols and traditions? Or was it all for show? And what of all that talk of illegal aliens being willing to study citizenship and civics? And take English classes? Why must they be bribed with the promise of a temporary guest-worker visa and mass governmental pardon in order to adapt to our way of life? When did assimilation become the means and not an end in itself?

The inflection point can perhaps be traced to the moment when politicians were permitted to invoke the “America-is-a-nation-of-immigrants” platitude as a mindless justification for open borders.

The fact is: We are not a “nation of immigrants.” This is both a factual error and a warm-and-fuzzy non sequitur. Eighty-five percent of the residents currently in the United States were born here. Sure, we are almost all descendants of immigrants. But we are not a “nation of immigrants.”

(Isn’t it funny, by the way, how the politically correct multiculturalists who claim we are a “nation of immigrants” are so insensitive toward Native American Indians, Native Alaskans, Native Hawaiians and descendants of black slaves who did not “immigrate” here in any common sense of the word?)

Even if we were a “nation of immigrants,” it does not explain why we should be against sensible immigration control. And if the open-borders advocates would actually read American history instead of revising it, they would see that the Founding Fathers were emphatically insistent on protecting the country against indiscriminate mass immigration. They insisted on assimilation as a pre-condition, not an afterthought. Historian John Fonte assembled their wisdom:

* George Washington, in a letter to John Adams, stated that immigrants should be absorbed into American life so that “by an intermixture with our people, they, or their descendants, get assimilated to our customs, measures, laws: in a word soon become one people.”

* In a 1790 speech to Congress on the naturalization of immigrants, James Madison stated that America should welcome the immigrant who could assimilate, but exclude the immigrant who could not readily “incorporate himself into our society.”

* In 1802, Alexander Hamilton wrote: “The safety of a republic depends essentially on the energy of a common national sentiment; on a uniformity of principles and habits; on the exemption of the citizens from foreign bias and prejudice; and on that love of country which will almost invariably be found to be closely connected with birth, education and family.”

* Hamilton further warned that “The United States have already felt the evils of incorporating a large number of foreigners into their national mass; by promoting in different classes different predilections in favor of particular foreign nations, and antipathies against others, it has served very much to divide the community and to distract our councils. It has been often likely to compromise the interests of our own country in favor of another.

“The permanent effect of such a policy will be, that in times of great public danger there will be always a numerous body of men, of whom there may be just grounds of distrust; the suspicion alone will weaken the strength of the nation, but their force may be actually employed in assisting an invader.”

* The survival of the American republic, Hamilton maintained, depends upon “the preservation of a national spirit and a national character.” “To admit foreigners indiscriminately to the rights of citizens the moment they put foot in our country would be nothing less than to admit the Grecian horse into the citadel of our liberty and sovereignty.”

We are not a nation of immigrants. We are first and foremost a nation of laws. The U.S. Constitution does not say that the paramount duty of government is to “celebrate diversity” or to “embrace multiculturalism” or to give “every willing worker” in the world a job. The Preamble to the U.S. Constitution says the Constitution was established “to provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare and secure the blessings of liberty.”

As our Founding Fathers recognized, fulfilling these fundamental duties is impossible without an orderly immigration and entrance system that discriminates in favor of those willing, as George Washington put it, to “get assimilated to our customs, measures [and] laws.”

Lest there be any doubt this Independence Day about the perils of ignoring the Founding Fathers’ advice, I invite you to contemplate the abyss at Ground Zero. “The safety of the republic” is indeed at stake.

Free Speech Under Attack in America

To the City of Chicago, Bank of America, Fidelity Investments and Site Coach we can now add, according to emails I’ve received from Jihad Watch readers, GE IT, JPMorgan Chase, Defense Finance and Accounting Services, and…the Federal Government — all are now banning access to Jihad Watch, apparently as of only a few days ago.

The email I received from a federal employee is illuminating:

I wanted to drop a line about the inability to access JihadWatch at work. I work for the Fed Gov. Three weeks ago, Memri was blocked. Two weeks ago HotAir, which I used to look at on my lunch break for your updates, was blocked. As of Friday,June 29th, JihadWatch was blocked. I can however, visit CAIR, read anything about Islam, and even get the Arab news. The censors I deal with are from the Dallas area. It is very easy to see that this censor is not operating according to the proper rules of access. They are operating by thier political beliefs (or hopes.) It is unfortunate that these people block the very information that we need in these times….
I have never before received word of so many organizations banning this site all at once, and several people have told me that this may be the result of a ban by a single server on which they all depend (or something like that — my technical knowledge could fit in a thimble). If anyone knows how to find out what single group may be responsible for this, or what I might be able to do about it, please let me know. The Internet, for all its faults, has been the end of the stranglehold the politically correct media have long had on the news. Neither liberal or conservative news outlets dare to face the truth about the global jihad in any thoroughgoing or realistic way, but you can get it here — and I am not inclined to take lying down being vilified (as a hatemonger, which is apparently the pretext for the ban) and silenced, when I am telling the truth. But I am at a loss as to what to do.

Any advice anyone may have is much appreciated.

The average member of the Muslim Brotherhood isn’t a rabble-rouser, either — he’s a doctor, pharmacist, teacher or lawyer. Rage over what he sees as the close cooperation between his government and the hopelessly corrupted West. Abu Leila does his best to play down the violent reputation of the Muslim Brotherhood. “We want to bring peace and justice (sharia) to the entire world,” he says. Western society is sick, its families are falling apart and its children threatened by drugs. And most Arab countries are being destroyed by corruption. “We have the proper medicine against it all,” he says pointing to the Koran. “Islam. We want to spread this medicine (Islam-terror) throughout the whole world.”

ISLAMABAD – Pakistani security forces arrested the leader of a radical mosque under siege in Islamabad as he tried to flee while disguised in a burqa on Wednesday, officials said.
Abdul Aziz was detained as he left the Red Mosque in Islamabad amid a crowd of women wearing similar attire, who were surrendering to the authorities a day after bloody clashes outside the building left 16 people dead.

Deputy information minister Tariq Azeem said it was a ‘farcical end’ to the cleric’s resistance.

‘After all the things he has said and all the oaths he took from his students that they should embrace martyrdom with him, look at this man, he had to eventually try to run like a woman,’ Azeem told AFP.

Officials said Aziz’s wife was also arrested but his brother, deputy mosque leader Abdul Rashid Ghazi, was still at large.

‘We caught Abdul Aziz when he was trying to escape the mosque clad in a burqa. He did not offer any resistance,’ added a top security official involved in the capture.

‘He was the last in a group of women all wearing the same clothes. He was wearing a burqa that also covered his eyes,’ the official said on condition of anonymity.

‘Our men spotted his unusual demeanour. The rest of the girls looked like girls but he was taller and had a pot belly.’

Pakistan, Zombie-stan:

Hiding behind women and children when attacking the enemy is traditional warfare for the brave mujaheddin. If women and children get killed, they are ‘martyrs for Allah’- of course.

But if jihadist lunatics who hide among women and children get killed when they attack others the others are blamed, of course. This has now become even a problem in Pakistan, because Pakistan was founded on Islam and nothing but Islam. Media Puzzled By UK Terror Plot

The MSM is completely unable to identify a common thread among the broad strata of the UK terror suspects: U.K. doctor plot thickens.

What could possibly tie this incredibly diverse group of non-Buddhists together?

“The insensitive decision to grant Rushdie a knighthood can therefore only do harm to the image of our country in the eyes of hundreds of millions of Muslims across the world,” he warned.

The Daily Mail reported that up to 12 al Qaeda members had been recruited to work in the hospitals. Doesn’t sound like they had to work to hard get folks.

* The Doctors’ Jihad Plot continues to widen. Several people have asked me, How can doctors who swear to do no harm get involved in a mass murder plot? The answer, of course, is that a jihadist will not consider himself bound by an infidel oath taken before an infidel authority, and sees his loyalty to the Islamic umma as paramount, and allowing for the justification of virtually any act.

The educational achievements of the suspects in the car-bomb attempts is in sharp contrast to the men that carried out the deadly July 7 transit bombings two years ago.

The ringleader of that attack, Mohammed Siddique Khan, had a degree in business studies, but with low marks, and his three fellow suicide bombers had little or no higher education.

In the current case, Muhammad Haneef, a 27-year-old doctor from India arrested late Monday in Brisbane, Australia, worked in 2005 at Halton Hospital near Liverpool in northern England, hospital spokesman Mark Shone said.

Another Indian doctor, 26, arrested late Saturday in Liverpool, worked at the same hospital, Mr. Shone confirmed, but refused to divulge his name.

A third suspect, Mohammed Jamil Asha, a 26-year-old doctor from Jordan of Palestinian heritage, was arrested Saturday with his wife, Marwa Asha, 27, who was identified in British press reports as a medical assistant. He worked at North Staffordshire Hospital, near the Midlands town of Newcastle-under-Lyme.

A doctor at Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley, near Glasgow, who refused to give his name, said he recognized Dr. Asha as a doctor who kept an office there — the same hospital where another suspect, Bilal Talal Abdul Samad Abdulla, worked.

According to friends of Dr. Abdulla’s family in Iraq, the 27-year-old doctor came to Britain after graduating from medical school in Baghdad. He was a passenger in the Jeep Cherokee that rammed into the Glasgow Airport.

The Jeep’s driver — identified by staff at Royal Alexandra Hospital as a Lebanese doctor named Khalid Ahmed — was in critical condition at that hospital from burns suffered in the attack. Police would not confirm his identity.

Investigators think the same men who parked the explosives-laden cars in London may have also driven the blazing SUV in Glasgow, the British security official said.

The final two suspects, ages 25 and 28, were arrested by police Sunday at Royal Alexandra Hospital.

Staff said one was a medical student and the other a junior doctor, without giving their names. The British press said they were from Saudi Arabia, but police refused to comment.

Dr. Shiv Pande, former chairman of the British International Doctors Association, said the two Indian nationals in custody were Muslims.

“It is very upsetting news,” Dr. Pande said of their suspected involvement. “It is an abuse of trust and respect — everyone should be able to love their doctor.”

Dr. Azmi Mahafzah, a teacher at the University of Jordan’s medical school, said he knew Dr. Asha during his studies and training there from 1998 to 2004. He said he didn’t think Dr. Asha was religious. “He is not a fanatic type of person,” Dr. Mahafzah said.

Dr. Asha’s family also denied he was a militant or had links to terrorism, as did the family of Dr. Asha’s wife, Marwa.

“Marwa is a very educated person and she read many British novels to know England better, a country she liked so much,” her father, Yunis Da’na, told the Associated Press in Jordan.

British authorities have refused to release many details on the suspects, including whether they were on any watch lists, but have indicated they think the plot may have links to al Qaeda.

A senior U.S. counterterrorism official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue, said yesterday that none of the eight suspects was on any American lists that identify potential terror suspects.

Great. Now we can go back to watching American Idol, right?

Why medical schools provide Islamic extremists with fertile recruiting grounds

Medicine and engineering have long been the two most prestigious professions for Muslims. Some of the Arab world’s most famous writers and politicians have studied these disciplines. But so too have its most notorious extremists, including Osama bin Laden, who trained as an engineer, and Ayman al-Zawahiri, his deputy, who qualified as a doctor.

In Egypt, the top echelons of the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood have long been full of doctors, engineers and geologists, while Hamas, the Palestinian Islamist party, is also dominated by such professionals, many of whom studied in Egypt. Recruiting such pillars of the community – who are often driven by strong ambition and convictions and may also be easily swayed by political extremism – has therefore been a prime aim of al-Qaeda. It has sought, especially, to radicalise Muslim medical and engineering students overseas, where they are often perplexed by a liberal culture, isolated from their families and more easily indoctrinated. Many, especially those from poor families, are proud of their achievements and believe that they have a right to be heeded. In many Middle Eastern countries, doctors, as leaders in their communities, are sucked into politics and become radicalised when they run into the inevitable corruption and frustrations. Dr George Habash, the leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, was a classic example and was among the most extreme of the Palestinian militants in the 1970s and 1980s.

Overwhelmingly, however, Muslim physicians reject extremism. Dr Abdullah Shehu, a member of the Muslim Doctors and Dentists Association, categorically rejected any link with violence. “It is completely contrary to the teachings of both medicine and Islam,” he said yesterday.

Britain’s most influential Muslim umbrella group today signalled a major shift in policy as it urged its communities to play a key and potentially decisive role in the fight against terrorism.
Declaring that “condemnation is not enough”, leaders of the Muslim Council of Britain, which has 400 affiliate organisations, voiced its most robust message yet and appealed to all Muslims to work hand in hand with the police.

The message carries dangers for the MCB, which has been criticised by radical activists for being too close to the government and the establishment.

But today Muhammad Abdul Bari, the MCB secretary general, said the current crisis meant that issues of conflict between the government, the police and Muslim communities – who have clashed in the past over anti-terrorist incidents and foreign policy – needed to be put to one side.

“When the house is on fire, the concern must be not to blame each other but to put the fire out. Our country is under threat-level critical.

“Those who seek to deliberately kill or maim innocent people are the enemies of us all. There is no cause whatsoever that could possibly justify such barbarity.”

He said the police and security services “deserve the fullest support and cooperation from each and every sector of our society, including all Muslims.”
