The biggest mosque in Germany opened in the city of Duisburg on Sunday and has already become a symbol of successful integration. Unlike other mosque projects in Germany, there was virtually no protest from the local community.

If you go to the BBC link, you’ll see two pictures: one of a mosque in Germany which is about to be drastically enlarged by the largely Turkish population; the other of a church in Turkey which is run as a museum, you know, like the Hagia Sophia. So:

Catholic and Muslim leaders are meeting from 4th-6th November to launch a new Catholic-Muslim forum. 

It is an unprecedented initiative by the Vatican to improve relations between the two faiths.

The BBC’s Christopher Landau has been looking at the state of Catholic-Muslim relations.

In the first of two reports, he travelled to the German city of Cologne, where the largely Turkish Muslim community plans to build one of Europe’s largest mosques.

Civic and Christian leaders have backed the right of Muslims to worship freely, but they are also calling for increased religious freedom for Christians in Turkey.

While they’re at it, they can also start “calling for increased religious freedom for Christians” in the entire Muslim world. Throw in a couple of churches in Saudi Arabia as well.

Here’s a surprisingly frank account by a Turkish paper, which -of course- calls the anti-Islam demonstrators ‘right-wing extremists’, but it also tells us that is was not the ‘right wing extremists’ who caused  problems, and not one of these ‘right wing extremists’ has been arrested.

Instead, it was the extreme left, a combined force of rabid anarcho’s, commies, ferals and you-know-who-the-usual-suspects are, who went on the attack. Shamelessly supported by the authorities and the outrageously stoopid, criminal behavior by  the Christian-Democrat mayor of Cologne, Fritz Schramma, who was trying to outdo his Belgian  communist mayor-colleague Freddy Thilemans, who has now for 2 years in a row outlawed any anti-Islamic demonstrations. Simply because he is totally in the pocket of the Islamics: the majority of the Brussels city council are Muhammedans or ride on the Muhammedan ticket.

I am the “eyewitness” you quoted in the story. I would like you to know that two Jews were beaten up. I am leaving Cologne with a broken rib. I was readily identifiable as Jewish from my Kippa. As they were attacking me, they were yelling “Nazi”. How odd is that? Two jews beaten on the streets of Germany, by Germans who were calling us Nazis. All of this in reposne to us out there in the streets trying to protect their cultural heritage and right to exist.

After German Muslim organizations lost confidence in the only professor or Islam in Germany, officials decide to set up a second.

* What’s wrong with the above sentence? Everything. It is not about the Muslims ‘who lost confidence in the professor’- it is about Muslims who insist that Islam is hammered into the heads of of students unquestioningly, that indoctrination replaces free scientific enquiry. So if ‘officials’ (who are these ‘officials?’) are already prepared to set up a second professorship to replace the first, what does that tell you?

Muslim organizations said last week they had lost confidence in Professor Muhammad Kalisch, the theologian who oversaw a teacher-training program at the University of Muenster in northern Germany.

Kalisch upset the Muslim community by writing that there was no historical evidence that the Prophet Mohammed existed. (Kalisch himself is a Muslim revert/ed)

Muslim bodies cut links to Germany’s only professor of Islam

Cologne, Germany – Germany’s main Muslim bodies cut their links Friday to Germany’s only professor of Islamic religion, charging that Muhammad Kalisch had questioned the existence of the Prophet Mohammed and Muslim beliefs about the origin of the Koran. Kalisch teaches at the University of Muenster in northern Germany.

The four main Muslim groups had been represented on a board of advisors to his Centre for Islamic Religious Studies (CRS) since the chair was established, but there has been friction over his academic publications.

In a joint statement in Cologne on Friday, the council of Muslim organizations said it was concerned at the “discrepancy between fundamentals of Islamic teaching and the published positions of the head of the CRS.”
