Yesterday I posted a piece at FOX about the mainstream media’s extensive coverage of honor killings—but only if they are committed by Hindus and in faraway India. These media outlets will not use the word “honor killing” and “Muslim” or “honor killing” and “Islam” in the same sentence. For example, over this past weekend, the New York Times, no longer the Paper of Record, ran a front page article about a Hindu caste-related honor killing in Koderma, India.

Amina and Sarah Said ran away from their brutal home life and their “devout father,” only to be lured back by their mother on Christmas day and then brutally tortured and murdered not 24 hours later, in an honor killing on New Years day. Autopsy here. Full Atlas coverage here.

Noor Almalaki was run over in an honor killing last November in Arizona by her father for being “too Americnaized” and not Muslim enough. She hung on to dear life for three days before succumbing to her wounds.

Gülsüm Semin was severely beaten (repeatedly), scared to death of her family (and rightly so), and ultimately brutally beaten beyond recognition and “honor” murdered because she refused forced Islamic marriage in Turkey.

Banaz Mahmood was killed in her apartment in London by her father, Mahmood, and his brother Ali Mahmood and 4 others because they didn’t approve of her boyfriend. She had dishonored her Muslim  family by falling in love with the “wrong” man. So they stomped on her, then strangled her to death. Her body was then moved 100 miles to Birmingham, where she was buried in a suitcase in a garden behind a house. They had tried to kill her before. The ultra-left Toronto Star has a long history of  trying to whitewash her story and thus becomes complicit in aiding and abetting sharia terror against women.

In Pakistan this would receive a light sentence only because the father ‘owns’ the daughter, and his honour of his family is dependent on strict male dominated codes of conduct. Like female genital mutilation, it is widespread and enforced by the entire family and the Sharia courts.

Sheik sez: Aqsa was killed for not wearing a hijab. The lame street media goes to any length to make the flimsiest excuses, and the Islam propaganda machine tells them how to do it: her “tragic death” did not in fact result from “her refusal to wear the hijab”. Though this has been the media spin put on her murder, it is a distortion.

Update: Apparently, Mississauga, Ontario – the town the girl lived in, is a big-time hot bed of radical Islam.

Why Is the Washington Post Afraid to Use the Words “Muslim” And “Honor Killing” In The Same Article?

In the last seven years, the print version of the Washington Post has covered honor killings sparingly, tangentially, briefly, and only in passing. Clearly, the mainstream media believes that some news is not fit to print.

For example, in 2004, in a Washington Post article which argued that the United States should grant political asylum to women fleeing violence, the authors note that “Persecution is a high standard to reach, involving extreme and offensive conduct, such as honor killings, sexual slavery and rape.” Fine with me—but there is no discussion of what an honor killing is or who commits one. Two years later, in 2006, the Post ran a smallitem under “World in Brief” which reads as follows: “A 14-year-old Pakistani girl died of an infected wound a month after being shot four times in an attempted ‘honor killing’ in Karachi, police said. Nur Jehan was shot in the stomach, leg, knee and arm and left for dead by her relatives, who accused her of having sex with a young man.” Read the complete original version of this item…

The reason honour killings occur in Islam is that the practice is mandated in the Qur’an. Verses 18:65-18:81 tell of Moses meeting a man to whom God had given special knowledge. Moses accompanied the man to learn what God had taught him, and when they encountered a youth, the man killed him for no apparent reason. When Moses objected, the man explained that the youth was the son of righteous people and was about to grieve them by entering into insolence and religious infidelity, so he killed him in the hope God would give the couple a better son. According to the Qur’an, Moses clearly accepted this explanation, as he made no further objection. To pre-emptively answer the predictable, “You took this out of context” argument, this story is presented in its entirety without preamble or followup, and is not referred to anywhere else in the Qur’an. Nor can the translation be questioned as the three most trusted translators (Yusuf Ali, Pickthal, and Shakir) tell essentially the same story with different wording.

Honor Killing is un-Islamic!

Harris Zafar  from the Ahmadiyya Times lectures us (and Robert Spencer) about our “lack of knowledge about  this faith”. In his view, it is not Islam that kills, its “hate mongers, like Robert Spencer “who tarnish the image of Islam” by exposing it.

HONOR KILLING IN ISLAM? NO – NOT AT ALL

Unfortunately many people are blaming the religion of Islam for the existence of such a barbaric custom. “There is broad support and acceptance of this idea in Islam, and we’re going to see it more and more in the United States,” says Robert Spencer, founder of Jihad Watch and prominent antagonist of Islam.

This unfair and false statement not only exhibits Mr. Spencer’s bias against Islam but also exposes his lack of knowledge about this faith.

Muslims across the world must unite to end such atrocities that have absolutely no basis in Islam. We must work to eradicate this ancient cultural custom from any society still plagued with it. It is a Muslim’s duty to uphold peace and tolerance, and any cries from hate mongers, like Robert Spencer, claiming that Islam supports and accepts this practice are ignorant at best and dishonest at worst.

Unfortunately, Harris Zafar (MSQ USA) doesn’t offer any evidence  for his claims and his unwarranted “hate”-smears against Robert Spencer in defense of his “faith” don’t stick. This sura here : “The Holy Quran  says “Verily, the most honorable among you, in the sight of Allah, is he who is the most righteous among you” (49:14). certainly has nothing to do with it, and the following 2 cases of honor killings only confirm what we know already:

In 2003 the Jordanian Parliament voted down on Islamic grounds a provision designed to stiffen penalties for honor killings. Al-Jazeera reported that “Islamists and conservatives said the laws violated religious traditions and would destroy families and values.”

And a manual of Islamic law certified as a reliable guide to Sunni orthodoxy by Al-Azhar University, the most respected authority in Sunni Islam, says that “retaliation is obligatory against anyone who kills a human being purely intentionally and without right.” However, “not subject to retaliation” is “a father or mother (or their fathers or mothers) for killing their offspring, or offspring’s offspring.” (‘Umdat al-Salik o1.1-2).

Similarly, the killing of apostates is Islamic law:

“Whoever changes his religion, kill him”

In other words, someone who kills his child incurs no legal penalty under Islamic law. Al-Khidr (18:65-82) This ruling applies across the board: a believing Muslim is religiously obliged to kill his brother, sister, father, mother or any family member who changes his or her religion.

That’s why these honor killings keep happening — because they are broadly tolerated, even encouraged, by Islamic teachings and attitudes. Yet no authorities are calling Islamic leaders to account for this.

Couple killed over ‘honour’

KARACHI: A couple was killed in the name of honour in Peerabad police precincts on Tuesday.
Station House Officer (SHO) Rahim Khan said the police found two bodies from an empty plot on Street No 4 in Muslimabad. The male victim was identified as Yousuf Shah, 32, but the woman’s identity was yet to be ascertained, he added.

The SHO said both victims hailed from Swat and had married of their own freewill a few months ago. Paki Daily Times

Jordan: Man kills sister over love affair

AMMAN (Jordan) Straits Times – A JORDANIAN man was charged on Tuesday with premeditated murder for allegedly stabbing to death his younger sister over a love affair, police said.

‘The 22-year-old man has confessed to killing his 20-year-old sister on Monday, with the help of his cousin, after learning that she was in love with a man,’ in Marka, eastern Amman, a police spokesman told AFP.

‘His 19-year-old cousin was charged with being an accessory to murder.’ The two face the death penalty if convicted.

Murder is punishable by death in Jordan but in so-called ‘honour killings’ Jordanian courts can commute or reduce sentences, particularly if the victim’s family urges leniency.

Between 15 and 20 women are murdered in honour killings each year in Jordan despite government efforts to curb such crimes. — AFP

murderSeven women were killed in the Palestinian territories because of “honor killings” in the first month of the year 2010. These news were released by Palestinian human rights organizations interested in women’s issues, but according to my sources, this statistic was falsified and the real number of women who were murdered, only in the cities of Ramallah and Hebron since the beginning of the year 2010 has exceeded 13. The sources confirm that these seven women, who were registered in the statistics of human rights organizations as victims of “honor killing”, were left in public streets and in fields after being killed and there was no chance for the perpetrators to hide the crime. (note the image is not a Palestinian Woman).
