HANNITY: An Islamist expert at the Pentagon known for his hard stance against radical Islam was recently fired, and now his colleagues want to know why.

Stephen Coughlin was fired after a confrontation with one of the deputy defense secretary’s aides, which ended with Coughlin being called, quote, “a Christian zealot with a pen.”

Hi, Steve. Walk us through what happened here, who he is, where his expertise was, and why you think — what really went on here.

STEVE EMERSON: Stephen Coughlin has a background in law, international business, and a specialty in academic study of Islamic militant doctrine of jihad.

And what he did is to analyze documents, hundreds of thousands of documents that were released during the Hamas trial, the Holy Land case trial in Texas. He did an analysis of some of those documents that were not disputed which showed that there was a Muslim Brotherhood plan, a secret plan, designed to acquire influence in the U.S., undermine U.S. democracy, and to establish a caliphate. The Muslim Brotherhood plan was spelled out in a document that was introduced at trial.

Stephen Coughlin Update. Here is an excellent summary piece on Coughlin’s firing, its implications, and what must be done next.

Objective: The objective of this paper is to clarify the incidents surrounding the firing of Mr. Coughlin, and enumerate the implications of this event to U.S. National Security and the GWOT (Global War on Terror).

Background: Mr. Stephen Coughlin works as a contractor on the Joint Staff, J-2 (Intelligence) for the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon. The Joint Staff specifically requested him because of his knowledge of Islamic Doctrine as it applies to “Jihad” and the Strategic objectives of our enemy. He is, by many accounts, the leading expert on Islamic Doctrinal drivers of Jihad within the U.S. Government, and likely, in the United States. His thesis, “To Our Great Detriment: Ignoring What Extremists Say About Jihad,” was recently accepted by the National Defense Intelligence College, and deals specifically with Islamic Doctrine dealing with doctrinal drivers of jihad, and the failure of the United States leadership to learn and understand this doctrine. He has a background in Law and international business. Mr. Coughlin is also a Major in the U.S. Army Reserves, and was activated after 9/11 to serve as a Strategic Targeting Officer for the U.S. forces. He has taught, lectured, and briefed senior members of DoD, members of Congress, senior U.S. Government officials, and many law enforcement and intelligence officers in the United States. He is a regular briefer at the Information/Operations course at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and the Joint Forces Staff College. He has briefed at the Navy War College and the Marine Corps War College, and recently briefed the General Officers of I MEF, United States Marine Corps.

Event: Via a campaign undertaken by Hesham Islam, the senior advisor for International Affairs to Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England, on Thursday, January 3, 2008 Mr. Coughlin was told by his employers that his contract would not be renewed due to the fact his message, and therefore he himself, had become too “politically hot.” In a meeting between Mr. Coughlin and a member of Mr. England’s staff, at which Hesham Islam unexpectedly attended, Mr. Islam asked Mr. Coughlin to “soften his message” regarding Islamic Doctrine. Mr. Coughlin refused. Islam was heard referring to Coughlin as a “Christian zealot with a poison pen.” Despite the fact that no one in his chain of command has disputed the veracity, accuracy, and balance for his thesis, lectures, or briefings, Coughlin’s employment is being terminated for speaking the truth to the Department of Defense.

Analysis: This event on its own reveals that a senior U.S. advisor is being removed from his direct and critical role in the current war in which we are engaged solely because his message was defined as “extreme” by an advisor who caters to Islamist organizations in the U.S., not because it was factually incorrect. This alone seems significantly problematic given the current war in which we are engaged. Additionally, some of the details suggest Mr. Coughlin’s civil rights, to include his First and Forth Amendment rights, as well as federal law, may have been violated, which suggests an inquiry is required. The effort to silence Mr. Coughlin came from a senior advisor to a senior U.S. official under official cover – a violation of law. Most disturbing is that Mr. Islam is associated with groups and organizations which have been designated as Muslim Brotherhood organizations within the United States. If this is in fact true, the implications are devastating.

Implications: If it is determined that Mr. Islam (whose clearances to be handling such high level issues are unsubstantiated) was acting directly or indirectly on behalf of the Muslim Brotherhood or any other non-state sponsor or nation, it would indicate a direct effort to thwart the U.S. effort in fighting the war in which we are engaged by an outside entity. This is, therefore, a penetration of our government at the most senior levels. In this case we are obligated to undertake actions to determine, who is Mr. Islam, why was he hired, what are his true intentions, and are there others in our government at this level who have penetrated other U.S. government agencies.

Actions: It is recommended that the following actions be taken immediately:

1) It is imperative that an investigation be open to determine the facts of this matter. If the investigation determines the facts of the matter to be true, provide the extent of the penetration within DoD, an assessment of the damage, potential violations of federal law, and recommended changes to Department policy and procedures to prevent a recurrence.

2) Conduct closed Congressional Hearings to provide oversight of Federal Departments and Agencies, specifically DoD, DNI, FBI, CIA and DHS to determine if there has been (1) a significant penetration of US Government Departments and/or Agencies by non-state actors hostile to the United States, and (2) the ability and structure of the U.S. counterintelligence efforts to identify and prevent penetration by subversive movements such as the Muslim Brotherhood.

During the 19th century, Germans pioneered modern scholarship of ancient texts. Their work revolutionized understanding of Christian and Jewish scripture. It also infuriated some of the devout, who resented secular scrutiny of texts believed to contain sacred truths.

The revived Quran venture plays into a very modern debate: how to reconcile Islam with the modern world? Academic quarrying of the Quran has produced bold theories, bitter feuds and even claims of an Islamic Reformation in the making. Applying Western critical methods to Islam’s holiest text is a sensitive test of the Muslim community’s readiness to both accommodate and absorb thinking outside its own traditions.

“It is very exciting,” says Patricia Crone, a scholar at Princeton’s Institute for Advanced Study and a pioneer of unorthodox theories about Islam’s early years. She says she first heard that the Munich archive had survived when attending a conference in Germany last fall. “Everyone thought it was destroyed.”

The Quran is viewed by most Muslims as the unchanging word of God as transmitted to the Prophet Muhammad in the 7th century. The text, they believe, didn’t evolve or get edited. The Quran says it is “flawless” and fixed by an “imperishable tablet” in heaven. It starts with a warning: “This book is not to be doubted.”

Quranic scholarship often focuses on arcane questions of philology and textual analysis. Experts nonetheless tend to tread warily, mindful of fury directed in recent years at people deemed to have blasphemed Islam’s founding document and the Prophet Muhammad.

Followers of the “most merciful” strike again.

With the systematic bombing attacks on churches in Iraq, attacks on churches in Egypt are still the best offerings for Allah. A devout Muslim mob attacked yesterday the Abu Fana Monastery, in the city of Malawi, province of Menia, in Upper Egypt for the second time in less than two weeks.

In a phone conversation with father Mina Abu Fana, one of the monks of the Monastery, he stated that “this attack follows a January 1, 2008, attack by a Muslim mob that kept firing on the Monastery for two hours before the police arrived. The officer in charge acted in a demeaning way towards the monks and let the attackers leave without arresting anyone or filing any charges.” He also said “the non action by the police when Christians or churches are attacked sends a signal to the fanatics that they can continue their attacks with impunity”.

And that’s exactly what happened, father Mina told us, twenty armed Muslims surrounded th monastery and forced their way inside firing on monks that were trying to defend the Monastery. One monk was injured and eight monks’ cells were destroyed. The attackers then entered the church and burned several priceless rare Coptic icons of Jesus, one of the monastery’s church doors, several Bibles and vandalized, looted and destroyed part of the church interiors.

According to Archaeologists, the Monastery of Saint Abu Fana is one of the oldest Monasteries in the world, and considered a rare archaeological treasure from the fourth century, when it was built, with priceless Icons and frescoes dating back to the same period.

Our purpose for reporting this to our readers is not just to highlight a terrorist attack by the followers of the “religion of peace” on a Monastery in Egypt. Which many in the West may consider, after all, very remote to them and away from their security or comfort zone. Viewed just as a local attack on Copts, having no effects beyond that.

But this is not the way Mohammad’s soldiers look at it. And it only proves that Westerners thinking along those lines don’t grasp the far reaching strategy of the jihadists for the sake of Allah.

You should never forget that “every” Muslim, including “moderates” talks and think always in terms of “the Islamic Umma”, which mean “the Islamic Nation”. This is not a term invented by Louis Farrakhan, but a term coined by Mohammad himself.

The other fact that you should equally remember, is the total symbioses and connectivity between jihadists all over the world. More so now, thanks to internet and the communication technological revolution, that virtually eliminated distances and empowered everyone to reach anyone at the other corner of the planet instantly.

No one more than jihadists is taking advantage of that. Besides the fact that Egypt is the home of the infamous “Muslims brotherhood” organization which have members (implanted) established in every Western country, with a big base in America let alone the world. All Sunni’s Jihadists, starting by El Qaeda and Hamas, are offshoots of the “Brotherhood”, as it is referred to.

So what all this have to do with what seems to be an isolated attack on a Monastery in Egypt? You might ask. Well, it’s only isolated to you because you don’t wear the Islamic magnifying glasses, and you don’t think in terms of “the Umma”.

Thomas Hegghammer of the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (Forsvarets forskningsinstitutt) says that Islamophobia and racism bring about a security problem. The more Norwegians hate Muslims, the more likely it will be to see Islamic violence in Norway. The more Muslims meet aggression from Norwegians, and taxi drivers have to deal with questions about Iraq and religion, the more they will become radicalized. He thinks the fear of Islam has grown in the West since Sep. 11. “It’s a problem, because Islamophobia brings discrimination that again can lead to terrorism,” says Hegghammer.

Oslo: 34% of schools have immigrant majority

The Oslo education department published data this week about the city’s schools. Of the 51,378 students in elementary schools this year, 19,602 were immigrants, which is 38%. About 11,975 of them get separate Norwegian classes, and about 4,285 get mother tongue instruction and/or bilingual instruction, available in 23 languages

48 of the city’s 138 schools have more than 50% immigrants in their student body, which is 34%. Two years ago there were 37 such schools, seven years ago there were just 21. Five schools have more than 90% immigrants.

A majoirty of Britons believe that Muslims need to do more to integrate into society and want tighter restrictions on immigration, an opinion poll commissioned by The Sunday Telegraph shows.

Bishop Nazir-Ali expressed concern that attempts had been made in some areas to impose an Islamic character, for example by amplifying the call to prayer from mosques.

One in three of those questioned in the poll said that they would be unhappy to have a mosque built in their neighbourhood compared with a quarter who would support such a move.

Now it comes:

Church leaders in communities with large concentrations of Muslims said that Christians were being targeted. An east London vicar who had delivered Christmas leaflets in his parish said he was told to stay away from “Muslim areas”.

He said: “Despite this being a mixed area, where Muslims make up only about 15 per cent of the population, I was told that the leaflets were offensive and could make people angry.”

Another churchman said his path had been blocked by Muslim youths as he drove through a district of Oldham, Lancashire, last year. “They wanted to know why I was coming into ‘their’ area,” he said.

A priest ministering in the Manchester district of Rusholme said he knew of “dozens of cases” in which Muslim converts to Christianity had been attacked.

Another church leader said that Asian Christians in Leicester feared being identified when leaving churches.

“They are scared of being stopped and beaten up if they are found carrying Bibles,” he said.

None of the church leaders we spoke to wished to be identified for fear of retaliation, but Don Horrocks, of the Evangelical Alliance, said: “It’s increasingly difficult for non-Muslims to live in areas of high Muslim density, especially if they are practising Christians.”

Some commentators fear that the aim of Islamist groups such as Tablighi Jamaat, Hizb-ut-Tahir and the Deobandi sect is to drive non-Muslims out of areas such as Dewsbury, in West Yorkshire, and Oldham along with neighbourhoods in Luton, Leicester, Birmingham and Leyton, in east London.

Dr Patrick Sookhdeo, the director of the Barnabas Trust, which helps persecuted Christians, said: “Muslims are being told not to integrate into British society, but to set up separate enclaves where they can operate according to sharia law.”

He said the process of “cleansing” Muslim-majority areas of non-Muslims had already begun, with white residents urged to leave and churches threatened.

‘I feel like an alien in my home town’

Oak Lane: Among the new stores, the clothes shops sell Muslim dress, the butcher stocks halal meat and even the local takeaway advertises halal pizza.

“I feel like an alien, like I’m on a street in Karachi,” Mr Carbin says, awkwardly.

“I don’t feel I have anything in common with this area. It’s like I’ve never been here before. I knew it would be different but I knew, too, that I would feel uncomfortably like I don’t belong.”

Canon Patrick Sookhdeo, a convert from Islam to Christianity in 1969, said: “How would the Muslim community respond if I made a programme challenging Muhammad as the last prophet?’ He asserts that the Qur’an’s denial of Jesus’s divinity is ‘unacceptable’, not least because at his Second Coming it says he will destroy all the crosses.

Christians ought to revolt and demand a documentary on the alternative view to the hagiographical Islamic account of the life of Mohammed. One that might examine (impartially and objectively, of course) the historical assertions that he was a mass murderer, a torturer, rapist, child molester, thief, and a liar; that he was not a prophet, and that he plagiarised vast sections of the Qur’an from contemporary literature, and developed ‘Islam’ out of the primitive worship of a pagan moon god.

If one may broadcast a blasphemous documentary on the Qur’anic view of Jesus, then a fortiori ought one to be allowed to broadcast one on the biblical view of Mohammed, which would have to assert that he was not merely not the last prophet; he was not a prophet at all. Indeed, he manifests all the attributes of what the Bible terms a false prophet and an antichrist.

TEHRAN, Jan 13, 2008 (AFP) – A director who shares the ideas of Iran’s hardline president has produced what he says is the first film giving an Islamic view of Jesus Christ, in a bid to show the ‘common ground’ between Muslims and Christians.

Nader Talebzadeh sees his movie, ‘Jesus, the Spirit of God,’ as an Islamic answer to Western productions like Mel Gibson’s 2004 blockbuster ‘The Passion of the Christ,’ which he praised as admirable but quite simply ‘wrong’.

‘Gibson’s film is a very good film. I mean that it is a well-crafted movie but the story is wrong — it was not like that,’ he said, referring to two key differences: Islam sees Jesus as a prophet, not the son of God, and does not believe he was crucified.

Talebzadeh said he even went to Gibson’s mansion in Malibu, California, to show him his film. ‘But it was Sunday and the security at the gate received the film and the brochure and promised to deliver it,’ though the Iranian never heard back.

Even in Iran, ‘Jesus, The Spirit of God’ had a low-key reception, playing to moderate audiences in five Tehran cinemas during the holy month of Ramadan, in October.

The film, funded by state broadcasting, faded off the billboards but is far from dead, about to be recycled in a major 20 episode spin-off to be broadcast over state-run national television this year.

Talebzadeh insists it aims to bridge differences between Christianity and Islam, despite the stark divergence from Christian doctrine about Christ’s final hours on earth.

‘It is fascinating for Christians to know that Islam gives such devotion to and has so much knowledge about Jesus,’ Talebzadeh told AFP.

‘By making this film I wanted to make a bridge between Christianity and Islam, to open the door for dialogue since there is much common ground between Islam and Christianity,’ he said.

The director is also keen to emphasise the links between Jesus and one of the most important figures in Shiite Islam, the Imam Mahdi, said to have disappeared 12 centuries ago but whose ‘return’ to earth has been a key tenet of the Ahmadinejad presidency.

Talebzadeh made his name making documentaries about Iran’s 1980-1988 war against Iraq, an important genre in the country’s post-revolutionary cinema.

But such weighty themes, and his latest film on Jesus, compete with domestic gangster thrillers and sugary boy-meets-girl love stories, the movies that continue to draw the biggest audiences in the Islamic Republic.

The bulk of ‘Jesus, the Spirit of God’, which won an award at the 2007 Religion Today Film Festival in Italy, faithfully follows the traditional tale of Jesus as recounted in the New Testament Gospels, a narrative reproduced in the Koran and accepted by Muslims.

But in Talebzadeh’s movie, God saves Jesus, depicted as a fair-complexioned man with long hair and a beard, from crucifixion and takes him straight to heaven.

‘It is frankly said in the Koran that the person who was crucified was not Jesus’ but Judas, one of the 12 Apostles and the one the Bible holds betrayed Jesus to the Romans, he said. In his film, it is Judas who is crucified.

Many visitors to Islamic Paradises are often taken aback when they observe the horrifying hygienic condition in these countries, either in public places, or in the privacy of its Islamic citizens. For example, in Islamic countries such as Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sudan, Nigeria, Mauritania…and so on, people often spit anywhere they like; urinate and defecate in public places, whenever opportunity permits, oblivious to the fact that human saliva and excrement are potential carriers of deadly germs and viruses. In many Islamic Paradises, public places, such as parks, recreation centres, sports facilities etc., are often littered with obnoxious objects including human faeces. The open sewers on both sides of the road, the raw sewage infested railway tracks, the dirt, and litter in uncultivated or unoccupied spaces often produce revulsion to any visitors who dare to experience such horrible unhygienic conditions in many Islamic Paradises.

Has Islam anything to do with such a terrible health hazard? Or is this due to poverty?

Let us examine the sources of Islam to gauge the truth. The readers will note that many unhygienic practices followed in such Islamic Paradises (Dar al Islam) emanate directly from the practices of Muhammad as described in a number of ahadith (Muhammad’s act or sunna). These ahadith tell us that Muhammad and his companions, including his wives, lived in terrible unhygienic conditions. They had very little regard for a healthy, clean and disease free environment. They were inured to the dirty, unclean, and often unhealthy practices of the desert Bedouins.

Here are three ahadith to learn about the pathetic personal hygiene of Muhammad and his followers:

The Prophet came to me at the time of Al-Hudaibiya Pledge while lice were falling on my face. He said, “Are the lice of your head troubling you?” I said, “Yes.” He said, “Shave your head and fast for three days, or feed six poor persons, or slaughter a sheep as sacrifice.” (The sub-narrator, Aiyub said, “I do not know with which of these three options he started.”)

Muhammad visited Umm Haram and she looked for lice in his head…(Sahih Bukhari, 9.87.130)

Narrated Anas bin Malik:
Allah’s Apostle used to visit Um Haram bint Milhan she was the wife of ‘Ubada bin As-Samit. One day the Prophet visited her and she provided him with food and started looking for lice in his head. Then Allah’s Apostle slept and afterwards woke up smiling.

Muhammad’s companions were manual labourers; they had stinky body odour…(Sahih Bukhari 3.34.285)

The companions of Allah’s Apostle used to practise manual labor, so their sweat used to smell, and they were advised to take a bath.

No wonder then, that, today, most of Muhammad’s ardent followers carry on with his tradition or Sunna—because it is compulsory for every Muslim to emulate Muhammad in all aspects, including his personal hygiene habits (see verses 3:31, 3:132, 4:13, 33:21, 33:36, and 68:4).

Muhammad’s Obsession with Saliva, Dirt, and Polluted Water

To prove his divinity and supernatural power Muhammad often resorted to horrid practices. Such practices involved asking people to use the water he had polluted through ablution, bath, or mouthwash, or even by spitting on it.

Sahih Bukhari (1.4.187) sates that people used to collect the leftover water after Muhammad’s ablution. He asked people to drink the water from the tumbler on which he had washed his hands, and threw a mouthful of water in it.

To prove his divine authority, Muhammad even let a sick boy drink the leftover water after he had performed ablution (Sahih Bukhari, 1.4.189). Another boy drank the leftover water/milk that Muhammad had drunk (Sahih Bukhari, 3.40.541, 554).

One grotesque unhygienic practice of Muhammad was the use of his saliva to influence illiterate, unformed believers to his claim of possession of supernatural power. In earlier episodes we already witnessed many examples of this extremely unhygienic practice. Here are a few more samples of Muhammad’s fixation with his spittle.

Muhammad used his saliva to soften a date, and then gave it to an infant to suck… (Sahih Bukhari, 25.5340, 5341, 5345)

When Anas’s son was born Muhammad fed him with dates mixed with his (Muhammad’s) saliva and gave him the name Abdullah… (Sahih Bukhari, 31.6013)

Muhammad’s saliva is good for children. He used to spit into the mouth of suckling children, and his saliva would satisfy them until nightfall… (Ash Shifa, p.184)

If a baby sucked Muhammad’s tongue, the baby became quiet… (Ash Shifa, p.184)

Ezra Levant, a Canadian publisher, found out soon after he printed the dreaded Muhammad-cartoons of blasphemy in his paper (the Western Standard) which got him cited before one of these ridiculous ‘anti-discrimination commissions’ that are nothing more than far left PC-cesspools, usurpers of powers that would be, -if we let them-, mutate into a full blown inquisition for thought crime.

HUNDREDS of British non-Muslims have been recruited by al-Qaeda to wage war against the West, senior security sources warned last night.
As many as 1,500 white Britons are believed to have converted to Islam for the purpose of funding, planning and carrying out surprise terror attacks inside the UK, according to one MI5 source.

Lord Carlile, the Government’s independent reviewer of anti-terrorism legislation, said many of the converts had been targeted by radical Muslims while serving prison terms.

Security experts say the growing secret army of white terrorists poses a particularly serious threat as they are far less likely to be detected than members of the Asian community.

Since the 7/7 and 21/7 London bombings, police and intelligence services have had considerable success in identifying, disrupting and stopping extremist plots. As a result, groups such as al-Qaeda, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Harkat-ul-Mujahideen have been forced to change tack. Converting white non-Muslims has been one response.

The trend is well established in the United States. American-born Adam Gadahn is one of the FBI’s top 10 most-wanted terrorists after converting to Islam and rising through al-Qaeda’s ranks to become a prominent spokesman.

One British security source last night told Scotland on Sunday: “There could be anything up to 1,500 converts to the fundamentalist cause across Britain. They pose a real potential danger to our domestic security because, obviously, these people blend in and do not raise any flags.

“The exact figure of those who have converted to Islam and turned to terror is not precisely known. Not everyone who converts becomes radicalised and it may be that just two-fifths go down that path, but it remains a significant and dangerous problem.”

Carlile said he was not aware of specific numbers, but confirmed to Scotland on Sunday that Whitehall was aware of the new threat and was actively tackling it. He said: “These people are an issue and are potentially very dangerous. There have been cases of non-Muslims converting before, and of these, Richard Reid, the so-called Shoebomber, is the most obvious example.
